This article aims to problematize knowledge production as merely an academic researcher endeavour by investigating how research can invite preschool-aged children to activate knowledge in situ. Informed by Isabelle Stengers’ theoretical framework, we developed the research methodology of Research prACTivisms through three propositions: activating an ecology of practices, engaging a direct democracy, and emerging situation ethics and values as means for change and transformations in continuous processes and activations. We argue that Research prACTivisms may produce and activate marginalized actors and knowledge in order to produce contemporary and situated political research practices and approaches. The paper presents the 'progressive review' for high pressure preservation/processing (HPP) (cold pasteurization) of foods and the next-generation high-pressure and high temperature (HPHT, HPT) food sterilization technologies. It recalls the basics of HPP and HPT, showing their key features and advantages. It does not repeat detailed results regarding HPP and HPT implementations for specific foods, available in numerous excellent review papers. This report focuses on HPP and HPT-related issues that remain challenging and can hinder further progress. For HPP implementations, the reliable modeling of microorganisms' number decay after different times of high pressure treatment or product storage is essential. This report indicates significant problems with model equations standard nonlinear fitting paradigm and introduces the distortion-sensitive routine enabling the ultimate validation. An innovative concept based on the barocaloric effect is proposed for the new generation of HPT technology. The required high temperature appears only for a strictly defined short time period controlled by the maximal pressure value. Results of the feasibility test using neopentyl glycol as the barocaloric medium are presented. Attention is also paid to feedback interactions between socioeconomic and technological issues in the ongoing Industrial Revolution epoch. It indicates economic constraints for HPP and HPT developments and emerging business possibilities. The Anthropocene, as one of the core concepts currently used to understand and reflect on the relationships among humans, species, and planet, has received widespread attention and discussion in the global academic community. As one of the important alternative concepts to the Anthropocene, the term Plantationocene was first proposed by Haraway et al. in October 2014. Compared to the former, it reveals the fundamental characteristics of the modern era, and continues to enrich its theoretical connotations amidst rapid shifts in social concepts and practices. Tracing and sorting out the genealogy of this concept over less than a decade since its inception allows for a microhistorical study of conceptual history, revealing three key dimensions of its meaning: (i) a critique of the history of (post)colonialism and extractivism, (ii) although plantations are known worldwide for monocrop agriculture and have so-called keystone species, they are essentially a multispecies symbiotic system. From its inception, the concept of the Plantationocene inherently encompasses the idea of "multispecies entanglement and multispecies politics," and (iii) a metaphor for structural power relations from real word to digital world. Research indicates that the Plantationocene has become a framework for understanding the connection between ecological destruction and social inequality. In the game of global ecological politics and academic power relationships in the post-humanist era, it requires us to pay attention not only to the relationships among humans but also those among multispecies to build a more just and sustainable society in the future. Online car-hailing is gradually shifting towards a predominant use of electric vehicles, a change that is advantageous for developing a sustainable society. Understanding the patterns of changes in online car-hailing travel can assist transportation authorities in optimizing vehicle dispatching, reducing idle rates, and minimizing resource wastage. The built environment influences the demand for online car-hailing travel. Previous studies have commonly employed the geographically weighted regression (GWR) model and the geographically and temporally weighted regression (GTWR) model to examine the relationship between the demand for online car-hailing trips and the built environment. However, these studies have ignored that the impact range of the built environment also varies with time and space. To fully consider the variations in the impact range of the built environment, this study established multi-scale geographically and temporally weighted regression (MGTWR) to examine the spatiotemporal impacts of urban built environments on the demand for online car-hailing travel. An empirical study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of the MGTWR model using point of interest (POI) data and online car-hailing order data from Haikou. The evaluation indicators showed that the MGTWR model has higher fitting accuracy than the GTWR model. Moreover, the impact of each type of POI on the demand for online car-hailing travel was analyzed by examining the temporal and spatial distribution of the regression coefficients. Additionally, we observed that transport facility POIs and healthcare service POIs exerted the most pronounced influence on the demand for online car-hailing. Although many studies have been conducted on the role of renewable energy in the environment, literature has ignored the potential role of socioeconomic indicators in renewable energy and pollution nexus. Also, critical questions arose with the critical factors, such as income inequality and economic complexity, have not been answered properly. This study explores the nexus between income inequality, economic complexity, renewable energy consumption, GDP per capita, and pollution and thus aims to reach efficient policy strategies by revealing empirical evidence. The study follows an environmental impact model structure and conducts the panel-corrected standard errors and fixed effect regression. BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) are selected to conduct our research. Annual data covering the period 1990–2017 for the sample countries are employed. Consumption-based carbon dioxide emissions as an indicator of environmental pollution are used since income inequality makes more sense in terms of the consumption side of an economy and is more related to consumers rather than the production sector. The obtained results reveal that income inequality has a positive and significant impact on consumption-based carbon dioxide emissions. However, GDP per capita, renewable energy, and economic complexity reduce pollution. It is also observed that the interaction term of inequality and renewable energy decreases emissions. Findings confirm that socioeconomic indicators, such as economic complexity and income inequality with the interaction of renewable energy, are crucial factors in reducing emissions and designing a greener future. The implacable rise of carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration in the atmosphere and acute water stress are one of the central challenges of our time. Present‐day chemistry is strongly inclined towards more sustainable solutions. Covalent organic frameworks (COFs), attributable to their structural designability with atomic precision, functionalizable chemical environment and robust extended architectures, have demonstrated promising performances in CO2 trapping and water harvesting from air. In this Review, we discuss the major developments in this field as well as sketch out the opportunities and shortcomings that remain over large‐scale COF synthesis, device engineering, and long‐term performance in real environments. In order to promote concept-based inquiry, we examine the procedure for creating a learning instructional plan for concept-based inquiry and propose a consumer education curriculum that can be created by many teachers. As a method, we proposed the creation of a learning instructional plan for concept-based inquiry on practice at the A Junior High School. As a result, we found that it is difficult to create a learning plan based on the development of qualities under the current teaching guidelines. Therefore, we organized a step-by-step procedure for creating a learning plan, in which the teacher's questions are the main focus and both teachers and students can recognize the goal of a classroom as a common concept. Purpose: The primary goal of this article is to compare the role of green energy portals/applications in shaping sustainable societies in selected countries: the People's Republic of China, Spain, Poland, and Türkiye. Design/methodology/approach: The comparisons were made for data collected at the turn of 2022/2023, in the PRC, Spain, Poland and Türkiye. The data was collected using a CAWI survey distributed in the academic environment of the countries analyzed in the study, supplemented by statements obtained through mailing lists and social media platforms. The study included 1209 people, of which a total of 608 individuals completed the entire survey questionnaire. Differences in the obtained results were evaluated using Euclidean distance. The hypothesis was made about the existing differences between the average ratings of attributes of individual green energy portals/applications and it was proven to be true for the Poland-Türkiye, Poland-PRC, and Poland-Spain relationships, but not for the pairs of other countries. Portal/application ratings were made using a scoring method and the proprietary conversion method. Findings: Respondents in all analyzed countries use information technology infrastructure on a daily basis to communicate with the Internet (by smartphones and PCs): in the PRC, Türkiye, Poland and Spain, 53% of the surveyed people are very familiar with and well-versed in issues related to green energy, and they have the greatest knowledge about it. Research limitations/implications: The limitation of the study was that it was mainly conducted in the academic environment of selected countries. Its most important achievement is the comparison of opinions on the use of green energy portals for countries that are so different culturally, economically, and demographically. Practical implications: Practical implications of the study may be useful for business practitioners in selected countries to indicate possible strategies for designing green energy portals/applications that support the creation and development of a sustainable society as well as showing the method of using these results. Originality/value: The value of the research was achieved by creating a pattern to follow, pre-design analyses, as a guideline for analysts and designers of portals, for establishing functionality and HCI techniques and for comparing methods used to evaluate modern ICT. Presently data are indispensably important as cities consider data as a commodity which can be traded to earn revenues. In urban environment, data generated from internet of things devices, smart meters, smart sensors, etc. can provide a new source of income for citizens and enterprises who are data owners. These data can be traded as digital assets. To support such trading digital data marketplaces have emerged. Data marketplaces promote a data sharing economy which is crucial for provision of available data useful for cities which aims to develop data driven services. But currently existing data marketplaces are mostly inadequate due to several issues such as security, efficiency, and adherence to privacy regulations. Likewise, there is no consolidated understanding of how to achieve trust and fairness among data owners and data sellers when trading data. Therefore, this study presents the design of an ecosystem which comprises of a distributed ledger technology data marketplace enabled by message queueing telemetry transport (MQTT) to facilitate trust and fairness among data owners and data sellers. The designed ecosystem for data marketplaces is powered by IOTA technology and MQTT broker to support the trading of sdata sources by automating trade agreements, negotiations and payment settlement between data producers/sellers and data consumers/buyers. Overall, findings from this article discuss the issues associated in developing a decentralized data marketplace for smart cities suggesting recommendations to enhance the deployment of decentralized and distributed data marketplaces. This study delves into the complex relationship between ecology, equity, and access, emphasizing the need for an integrated approach to address pressing environmental and societal challenges. Environmental disparities disproportionately affect marginalized communities, shaping their educational access and outcomes. These disparities are exacerbated by factors such as economic status, location, and policy biases, perpetuating a cycle of environmental and socio-economic inequality (Bullard, 1993). To mitigate these issues, various initiatives have been introduced to integrate environmental education into the academic curriculum, emphasizing interdisciplinary research, technology utilization, and community engagement. The National Curriculum Framework in India advocates for the inclusion of environmental concepts across subjects, aligning with global efforts to enhance environmental literacy (UNESCO, 2017). Additionally, community-based programs and advocacy campaigns have emerged to sensitize individuals, particularly the youth, about their role in achieving a sustainable and equitable future. Moving forward, holistic reforms encompassing policy advocacy, inclusive infrastructure development, and community empowerment are imperative to bridge the gap effectively. By fostering a culture of environmental consciousness, equitable resource distribution, and inclusive education, we can envision a society where every individual has equal access to a clean environment and the opportunity to prosper sustainably. Face masks, a prime component of personal protective equipment (PPE) items, have become an integral part of human beings to survive under the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation. The global population requires an estimated 130 billion face masks and 64 billion gloves/month, while the COVID-19 pandemic has led to the daily disposal of approximately 3.5 billion single-use face masks, resulting in a staggering 14,245,230.63 kg of face mask waste. The improper disposal of face mask wastes followed by its mismanagement is a challenge to the scientists as the wastes create pollution leading to environmental degradation, especially plastic pollution (macro/meso/micro/nano). Each year, an estimated 0.15–0.39 million tons of COVID-19 face mask waste, along with 173,000 microfibers released daily from discarded surgical masks, could enter the marine environment, while used masks have a significantly higher microplastic release capacity (1246.62 ± 403.50 particles/piece) compared to new masks (183.00 ± 78.42 particles/piece). Surgical face masks emit around 59 g CO2-eq greenhouse gas emissions per single use, cloth face masks emit approximately 60 g CO2-eq/single mask, and inhaling or ingesting microplastics (MPs) caused adverse health problems including chronic inflammation, granulomas or fibrosis, DNA damage, cellular damage, oxidative stress, and cytokine secretion. The present review critically addresses the role of face masks in reducing COVID-19 infections, their distribution pattern in diverse environments, the volume of waste produced, degradation in the natural environment, and adverse impacts on different environmental segments, and proposes sustainable remediation options to tackle environmental challenges posed by disposable COVID-19 face masks. Sustainable societies of the future should be designed on the basis of a green public budgeting, as green public 79 spending and investment are the key drivers of sustainable development. Studies on green budgeting have so far tended to focus on green taxes and favourable regulatory regimes for specific sectors, although 14 out of 38 OECD countries have introduced these in some form. Based on secondary research of Slovenian budget documentation for the period from 2018 to 2022, our research findings show that green and sustainable content is weak, both in terms of content and scope. Only 11 out of 24 policies and only 23 out of over 3000 projects have included some ideas of the green and sustainable concept. Due to the evolving methodology and framework of green budgeting, the research challenge could be identified in a repeated and deeper analysis, including the targets and indicators in the coming years.

Societal emergence and sustainability are results of human actions and practices which can either imbalance it with maximum exploitation or retain it through responsible utilization of resources. Based on theories on institutional and resource-based views, the study explores the enablers of green sustainable practices of procurement, logistics, product and process design and regulatory frameworks for low carbon performance.The study employs a Hybrid approach of step-by-step empirical process to examine the impact of sustainable practices on low carbon performance which further affects the sustainable manufacturing and societies. A theoretical model developed based on hypothesis is tested first using modified Dillman's approach. Then it is tested in in the PLS-SEM package using 380 data responses collected from the various manufacturers. Further robustness of proposed model is validated using different ML (machine learning) followed by post hoc analysis using Item Response Theory to validate the scale and efficacy of the measurement model. The study validates the positive relationships of sustainable practices on the low carbon performance which eventually is responsible for sustainable societies. The area of sustainable manufacturing is found relatively lacking and requires further attention of leadership for better societal establishments. The study hopes to further enrich the literature with its unique Hybrid approach of SEM/PLS Machine Learning and IRT which is used to presents carbon performance as a central entity deriving from green practices and driving sustainable manufacturing and societies. Recently, the expansion of energy communities has been aided by the lowering cost of storage technologies and the appearance of mechanisms for exchanging energy that is driven by economics. An amalgamation of different renewable energy sources, including solar, wind, geothermal, tidal, etc., is necessary to offer sustainable energy for smart cities. Furthermore, considering the induction of large-scale electric vehicles connected to the regional micro-grid, and causes of increase in the randomness and uncertainty of the load in a certain area, a solution that meets the community demands for electricity, heating, cooling, and transportation while using renewable energy is needed. This paper aims to define the impact of large-scale electric vehicles on the operation and management of the microgrid using a hybridized algorithm. First, with the use of the natural attributes of electric vehicles such as flexible loads, a large-scale electric vehicle response dispatch model is constructed. Second, three factors of micro-grid operation, management, and environmental pollution control costs with load fluctuation variance are discussed. Third, a hybrid gravitational search algorithm and random forest regression (GSA-RFR) approach is proposed to confirm the method's authenticity and reliability. The constructed large-scale electric vehicle response dispatch model significantly improves the load smoothness of the micro-grid after the large-scale electric vehicles are connected and reduces the impact of the entire grid. The proposed hybridized optimization method was solved within 296.7 s, the time taken for electric vehicle users to charge from and discharge to the regional micro-grid, which improves the economy of the micro-grid, and realizes the effective management of the regional load. The weight coefficients λ1 and λ2 were found at 0.589 and 0.421, respectively. This study provides key findings and suggestions that can be useful to scholars and decisionmakers. To protect the environment and prevent the growth of social and environmental risks, the concept of sustainable development has been shaped. This means meeting the needs of people today without harming the environment or creating other problems in the future. The concept of sustainability is constantly changing, and different people will have different ideas about how best to implement it. In the article, with the help of modern methods of scientific knowledge, an analysis of theoretical approaches to the interpretation of sustainable development is carried out. The relevance of theoretical and methodological studies of the concept of sustainable development as the basis for the development of modern society is substantiated. Based on methodological generalizations, the principles of the concept of sustainable development have been clarified. Based on the basis of the study of the modern understanding of the essence of the concept, the directions for achieving the goals of sustainable development of society are highlighted, and approaches to assessing the sustainable development of socio-economic systems are identified. The article analyzes the dynamics of the world sustainable development index and establishes its growing trend over the past decade and the recession during the global crisis caused by the pandemic. The presented analytical data indicate the intensification of the transition of countries to sustainable development, and this activity is much higher in low-income countries compared to high-income countries. The article substantiates the conclusion about the need to form an appropriate investment potential to ensure the sustainable development of society, which requires a strategic approach that would be based on changing the entire philosophy of thinking and political activity.

It has become challenging to protect information due to the increase in the methods by which malicious people can get information. As a result, it is crucial to determine people's awareness levels by revealing the risks and threats to information security. In this context, a study was conducted to show the awareness levels of teachers who come after the family in raising conscious individuals in society. For this purpose, a quantitative research method was adopted for the problem and sub-problems that form the basis of the research. The survey model, one of the research designs used within the framework of the quantitative research method, was used. Information Security Awareness Scale was applied to 394 teachers, and according to the results obtained, it was determined that the information security awareness level of the teachers was moderate. According to the attacks and threats subdimension, which includes technical issues, it has been determined that the awareness levels of the teachers are at a medium level. The study results show that female teachers' information security awareness levels are lower than male teachers. In comparison, the awareness levels of those who received information security awareness training and information technology teachers are higher. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research aims to analyze the relationship between economic, social and digital performance in cities of different sizes in Brazil. Data provided by the following official agencies: National Treasury Secretariat, National Mayors' Front and Risk Classification Agency were used. Pearson's correlation was used to identify the influence of digital, social, and economic performance variables in cities divided into groups based on the number of inhabitants. There was a strong correlation between Communication and Information Technologies and social and economic aspects. The greater the needs of cities, the more intense is the use of Communication and Information Technologies, reinforcing the establishment of the perspective of smart cities.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives and organizational green culture (OGC) play a significant role in developing organizations and society. However, the extent to which these activities encourage organizational employees to act socially responsible outside their workplace is yet to be explored. This study uses the Operant conditioning theory to examine the effect of OGC and CSR activities on employees' responsible behaviour towards the society (ERBS) outside their organizations. To collect data, we focused on employees of public and private manufacturing and services firms and analysed it using the structural equation modelling (SEM) technique). It is found that OGC and CSR activities significantly reshape employees' behaviour, and they tend to behave in a socially responsible manner in society. Moreover, the relationship between OGC and ERBS' is partially mediated by CSR. It is also found that female workers tend to behave more socially responsibly than male workers. This study suggests that firms should adopt a green culture and CSR practices since it promotes socially responsible behaviour (a better citizen) among their employee, which is essential for a sustainable society. Sustainable development is a complex and global problem. Poverty, inequality, opacity, drought, floods, green house effects are just a few pieces of the puzzle called a realworld ecosystem. One such piece of the multitude of global problems concerns on the transport and logistics problems in urban centers and the pronounced need for green logistics. Following modern technological trends and the need for long-term sustainable development and environmental protection, especially in urban areas, as a growing and unstoppable phenomenon caused by global technological progress, possible promising alternatives, research and solutions are focused on the concept of green infrastructure and green logistics. The concept of Green Logistics occupies an important place in optimizing the transport sector, reducing traffic congestion and reducing emissions from vehicles. The concept of Green Logistics is primarily focused on issues related to environmental protection, such as environmental pollution and emissions caused by non-standard and insufficiently professionally arranged logistics processes and the use of old and environmentally unsuitable transport technology. Green Logistics is a model that is planned, organized and implemented through an environmentally friendly and often socially friendly dimension, in addition to the economically functional one. Covers all entities, legislation, activities and participants in order to minimize the environmental impact of transport activities. Based on technical, environmental, economic and social facts and recent findings, the feasibility of the transition from our current fossil age to the new green age is analyzed in detail at both global and local level. To avert the threats of health problems, environmental pollution and climate change to our quality and standard of life, a twofold radical paradigm shift is outlined: Green Energy Revolution means the complete change from fossil-based to green primary energy sources such as sun, wind, water, environmental heat, and biomass; Green Hydrogen Society means the complete change from fossil-based final energy to green electricity and green hydrogen in all areas of mobility, industries, households and energy services. The aim of the author is to show the issue of sustainability in a broad scope and so to help in an orientation of interested persons in this urgent topic. He starts with the presentation of theoretical aspects of sustainability including the relevant definitions and problems. Maybe the value added could be also in a historical look at sustainability. Then the global actions regarding the sustainability are specified with the concentration on the Paris Agreement and further UN projects. On this basis it follows the characteristics of the global actions in the insurance industry. The key part of this article forms the review of the significant action plans, projects, communications and legal acts of the EU with the clear orientation on the insurance industry. It is not naturally omitted the position of the European insurance industry on the sustainable development and the EU policy which includes the sustainability into the regulation of this industry. Ageing in place is an imminent concern for both older couples and communities. Identifying ways to support ageing in place is required to meet the needs and challenges of older couples and social services systems. Through focus groups with a total of 46 participants and a constant comparative methodology, this study aimed to explore and describe the experiences and reasoning of spousal carers, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders regarding possibilities for older couples to age in place. The findings consisted of one main category, 'Facilitating ageing in place is a win-win situation with challenges' and four interrelated categories, 'Focus on older couples - building relationships and providing adequate services', 'Engaged civil society as a source of care and social inclusion,' 'Motivated professionals with competence and time,' and 'Services working together for a sustainable society,' that present possibilities and challenges for ageing in place. This study suggests that facilitating ageing in place is possible but involves a complex series of challenges that can be linked to different contexts ranging from individuals and couples to civil society, services provided, organisational systems, and existing resources. All these aspects need to be considered and balanced to achieve a situation that contributes to older couples' possibilities to age in place as well as to a sustainable society., Competing Interests: Declaration of competing interest Financial none. This paper studies media's role in contributing towards a sustainable society. The term sustainable development and a sustainable society are well-defined in particular in the context of India's pursuit of Digital India. Despite the Indian Government's future vision for India and the subsequent careful and well-planned policies, an ever growing population will predictably mean an augmented pressure on the society, environment and culture. Therefore, it is argued that if India is serious in following a path of sustainable development, the Indian population needs a behavior change towards sustainable actions. This change in behavior cannot be accomplished by itself but needs conscious efforts on the part of the society and government as a whole. It is recommended that Education for Sustainable Development of all sections of society can contribute to this behavioral change. Bearing in mind that a considerable part of the Indian population is not enrolled in the formal education system, the case is made for an increased role of the media in spreading Education for Sustainable Development.
