This essay presents a critique of the poem "De palpone," by Anglo-Latin writer Walter of Wimborne. Several verses of the poem are dedicated to his students at Wimborne Minster. The poem depicts his sadness on seeing his students suffer from the discipline of Latin grammar. He views the boys as children at play while he himself their lash. In pursuing the analysis, the critic adopts the works of literary scholars including Elaine Scarry, L. O. Aranye Fradenburg, and Rita Copeland.

Acute promyelocytic leukemia, an aggressive subtype of acute myeloid leukemia, is characterized by the t(15;17) translocation. Standard induction chemotherapy consists of (ATRA) in combination with anthracycline-based chemotherapy with or without the addition of cytarabine. Rare and serious side effects of ATRA have been reported including painful lip and scrotal ulcerations. Of 20 previous reports of genital ulceration, 17 patients had ATRA discontinued and corticosteroids initiated; however, the corticosteroid regimens and duration of therapy were not well described. Herein we present the first known case of a Black male with ATRA-associated scrotal ulcerations who was successfully managed with corticosteroids without cessation of all-trans retinoic acid. We report this case to highlight its rarity and to note that ATRA can be continued in combination with corticosteroids throughout induction. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

During the Arctic summer, an increasing portion of the Arctic sea ice area contains leads and melt ponds. These features absorb more heat, which reults in more sea ice melting. Effective monitoring and modelling of these sea ice leads and melt ponds are essential to calculate the radiative budget of the coupled ocean, ice, and atmosphere system. In this work, we demonstrate the potential of using the UCL MAGiGAN super-resolution restoration (SRR) system based on multi-angle feature restoration and deep learning networks to produce up to a factor of 3.75 times resolution enhancement of the Multi-angle Imaging SpectroRadiometer (MISR) images [1] to better support sea ice leads and melt pond studies. We demonstrate that the UCL MAGiGAN SRR system not only retrieves subpixel information from multi-angle views, but also uses the losses calculated from feature maps of a deep learning network to retrieve high texture detail. In this work, examples of SRR results for a sea ice field with MISR images taken on the 7th June 2007 will be shown along with an analysis and comparison with ASTER data on 4th July 2018.
