In this paper, the optimisation of the PID controller employing the PSO algorithm for the interleaved buck-boost power converter is outlined. Currently, buck-boost power converters are broadly used in several application areas like the photovoltaic system, uninterruptable power supplies, and electric vehicle. The buck-boost power converter can be connected in parallel with one or more other buck-boost converters (multi phasing) or the interleaved configuration so less filtering requirement to suppress the ripple is needed and the effective resultant frequency is increased and thus high reliability and efficiency for the power converter is achieved. The switching pulses for these converters are sequenced or interleaved in time to give the required phase shift between the interleaved buck-boost converters. The control circuit for this interleaved buck-boost converter is tuned by the PSO algorithm. The system is tested firstly by changing the input voltage and secondly by changing the output load resistance. The Simulations and the operational dynamical performance of the interleaved buck-boost converter with PID controller employing PSO algorithm results are executed using MATLAB software.

This paper presents perturbation and observation (P&O) as maximum power point tracking (MPPT) technique applied on grid-integrated PV generator. The interfacing is carried out via DC-DC buck-boost converter, three-phase sinusoidal DC-AC inverter, LC filter, transformer and two identical transmission lines. Large-signal stability analysis has been carried out considering symmetrical three-phase to ground fault as a case study at the middle of one of the transmission lines. The idea behind introducing the DC-DC converter is to adjust its duty cycle using the P&O algorithm such that to extract the maximum power available in the PV generator at all practical solar irradiance levels. The results show that the highly penetrated grid-integrated PV generator can keep the stability of its operating point despite the large-disturbance considered. It is also concluded that overshoot and settling time of the power system are highly affected by the fault clearing time and solar irradiance level. The higher the solar irradiance level is, the higher the critical clearing time, the larger the overshoot and the lower the settling time tend to be.

This paper presents a stand-alone Wind/PV hybrid power system supplying a three phase induction motor for pumping applications. The nonlinear dynamical mathematical model for the system components is presented and used for numerical simulations. The system comprises a fixed speed wind turbine driving a self-excited induction generator (SEIG) terminated by capacitor bank, and a photovoltaic (PV) array integrated via DC-DC converter, inverter and LC filter. The two sources feed (IM) driving a centrifugal pump. The duty ratio of the converter is controlled to maintain constant voltage at common coupling point. System performance is tested by changing the load torque coupled to the motor at certain solar irradiance levels and with fixing load torque with successive step changes of the solar irradiance levels. It is concluded that the system has the ability to run at wide range of solar intensity levels and motor loading conditions. Numerical simulations are executed using MATLAB software.
