In the context of climate changes, knowing the low-flow trends is very important for establishing appropriate measures for water resources management, in order to ensure their sustainability. This paper focuses on Romanian rivers and aims to identify the recent trends (during the period 1980-2013) in the low-flow variability. The analysis is based on discharges data series (daily and monthly) recorded at 54 gauging stations, with a quasi-natural flow regime. The significance of trends for annual, monthly and seasonal low-flow in the analyzed period has been established using the nonparametric Mann-Kendall test. The variability of the lowest annual values of the mean daily and monthly discharges showed positive trends at gauging stations located mainly in the Carpathian area, while negative trends were found in lowland regions (plains and tablelands). During the winter there were identified positive low-flow trends, while negative trends were found in summer and spring. Increases in the minimum monthly flow were particularly evident in February, March and December, and negative trends were identified especially in the summer (July, June and August) and the autumn months (September and October). Introduction: Spinal cord injury can be a cause of severe disability, with important consequences at the individual and social levels. Causes are often produced by falls or road accidents; and addictions (particularly chronic ethylism) also increase the risk of vertebral-medullary lesions. Materials and Methods: With with the approval of the TEHBA Ethics Commission (no.17464/14.06.2019), we used specific tests (DASS-21, MOS SF-36, SMAST, AUDIT, CAGE, AIS) and we questioned a group of patients admitted to the THEBA Neuro-Muscle Recovery Clinic after being treated in the Spinal Neurosurgery Service for acute and subacute vertebral medullary trauma. Results: We evaluated the link between addictions (especially ethanol), the risk of spinal cord injury, and the underlying subacute evolution of patients with this pathology. Conclusions: Substance abuse (especially ethanol) increases the risk of spinal cord injury and is a serious public health problem.

This paper aims to underline the key measures that Azerbaijan took during the past 20 years in regards to sustainable development. Although the country broke up from the Soviet Union in the 1990s, there has been a particular and precise preoccupation regarding its evolution as a nation. It is important to underline the fact that, in present time, Azerbaijan is an important country in the South Caucasus, which has economic relations with other parties such as the European Union, Turkey, Russia, and others. These relationships are based, mostly, on the fact that Azerbaijan is a reach resource country that supplies many countries with oil and gas.

Although most of the time the culture of a company has an invisible presence, it remains one of the most important parts that forms a company. The paper reflects on how organizational culture can be changed, what are some of the most important facts regarding this process, why is this process so important and how the company’s activity can be modified and improved. It is important to underline the fact that, at the present moment, organizational culture is a very important issue in the activity of worldwide companies, if we take into consideration the fast changing business environment and the globalization process that is taking place.

This paper aims to highlight the impacts of the reservoirs on the low flow downstream of dams. It is based on the analysis of the flow data sets (mean daily and monthly discharges, minimum monthly discharges) provided by gauging stations located downstream four reservoirs in Romania: Gilău, Siriu Pecineagu and Surduc. Statistical methods and comparative analyzes of low flow parameters in natural regime and modified regime were mainly used. The results show that the impacts are differents from one case to another. Generally, the flow decrease significantly in modified regime, mainly in spring and summer periods (the breeding period for most aquatic species). This occurs downstream of the reservoirs Surduc, Gilău and Pecineagu. In the case of Siriu reservoir, the impact of the dam construction on the low flow is less significant, and the low flow in modified regime are higher that in natural regime.

The modification of the natural flow regimes by different water intakes degrades river ecosystems by erosion, by altering physical habitat and sediment supply rate. Providing a "flow for aquatic ecosystem" implies a flow regime designed to maintain a river in some environmentally acceptable conditions. All components of the natural hydrological regime have ecological significance. However, maintaining the full spectrum of naturally flows which occurring in a river is normally impossible due to water resources development and changes in land use in the catchments. Therefore, the flow protection of aquatic ecosystems should be seen as a compromise between developments within the river basin on the one hand and the maintenance of river ecology on the other. In Romania, providing the flow for the protection of aquatic ecosystems is a very important issue in the complex process of ecological restoration. According to the "Programme of Measures" chapter, presented within the River Basin Management Plans, "for increase of aquatic biodiversity besides the re-naturation of landscape, restoring the natural processes namely an adequate hydrologic regime for the water uses and aquatic species and a functional link between river and floodplain through changes to the water management systems operation is required". The paper shows the results for the application of some methods for computing the flows for protection of aquatic ecosystems downstream of a reservoir.

We report the case of a patient diagnosed w ith T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, who underwent polychemotherapy with systemic (NILG protocol, 3 chemother apy consolidation courses) and intrathecal administration (1 session), subsequently with alleged remission of the hematological disease (bone marrow aspiration), where in the occurrence of a peripheral facial palsy mimicking a frigore facial palsy led to the diagnosis of neurological involvement of leukaemic nature. Hemangiopericytoma pertains to the spectrum of solitary extramedullary fibrous tumours, accounting for less than 1% of intracranial tumours. We report the case of a patient w ith hemangiopericytoma located in the posterior fossa, diagnosed în 2007 and multiply relapsed, which prompted 3 neurosurgical interventions and 2 courses of radiotherapy. Introduction: The study is presenting a personal experience of a Trauma Centre Level I and is try to conclude on optimal medical attitude for patients with retroperitoneal hematoma, still a controversial topic for traumatologists. Material and Method: A retrospective analysis of 22 cases of post-traumatic retroperitoneal hematoma admitted on Bucharest Emergency Hospital between September 2018 August 2021 (including time of Covid-19 pandemic), is presented Results: The patients (males predominance, mean age 43, mean ISS of 23), benefited of nonoperative management on admission for 10 cases (45%) with a failure rate of 4/10 due to recurrent bleeding from spleen injuries and continuous bleeding from mesenteric vessels lesions. CT scan (73% - 16 cases) within 1 hour from the admission and emergency surgery were necessary for 12 cases (55%). 2 patients benefited of angioembolization on admission. Conservative attitude for retroperitoneal hematoma was adopted for 72% cases. Over-all mortality: 18% (4 patients, mean ISS of 36), among 82% polytrauma cases. Conclusions: Algorithm of treatment is adapted to every case of retroperitoneal hematoma but the following sequences are mandatory: rapid transportation to Trauma Centre Level I with medical help, correct resuscitation, immediate relevant imagistic (CT scan), emergency surgery prior to angioembolization (for hemodynamic instable patients) or after it, ICU stabilization of the patient and then definitive repair of the injuries. Ester polyurethane (PU) foam waste was reacted at atmospheric pressure in an autoclave and using microwaves with diethylene glycol (DEG) at different PU/DEG ratios in the presence of diethanolamine as a catalyst to find the glycolysis conditions that allow for the improved recovery of the PU foam waste and enable the recycling of the whole glycolysis product in foam formulations suitable for industrial application. The recycled polyol was characterized by dynamic viscosity, hydroxyl number, water content, and density, while thermal stability was assessed using thermogravimetric analysis. In the PU foam formulation, 1% and 5% of the glycolyzed material was reused. The relationship between the reuse level of the recycled polyol and the physical properties of the foam was thoroughly investigated. It was observed that both hardness and air flow decreased with increasing recycled polyol content, particularly for the polyester type foam, while tensile strength and compression strength increased. Depending on the amount of recycled polyol and catalyst used, polyether-based foams could be obtained with a low air permeability, needed in special applications as sealed foams, or with higher air permeability desirable for comfort PU foams. The results open the way for further optimization studies of industrial polyurethane foam formulations using a glycolysis process without any separation stage.

We found differences related to the neuro-functional deficiency and clinical progress, among non-consumers and chronic consumers of ethanol, with recent traumatic spinal cord injury (SCI). We present a synthesis of related data on lesion mechanisms in post-traumatic myelogenous disorders, namely some of the alcohols and their actions on the nervous system, with details on the influences exerted, in such afflictions, by the chronic consumption of ethanol. The subject is not frequently approached - according to a literature review with systematic elements, which we have done before - thus constituting a niche that deserves to be further explored. The applicative component of the article highlights statistical data resulted from a retrospective study regarding the specialized casuistry from the Neuromuscular Recovery Clinic of the "Bagdasar Arseni" Emergency Clinical Hospital, following the comparative analysis of two groups of patients with recent SCI: non-consumers - the control group (n=780) - and chronic ethanol consumers - the study group (n=225) - with the addition of a prospective pilot component. Data processing has been achieved with SPSS 24. The American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale (AIS) mean motor scores differ significantly (tests: Mann-Whitney and t) between the control and study group in favor of the second, both at admission (p<0.001) and at discharge (p<0.001). AIS mean sensitive scores differ between the two lots, and also in favor of the study, but statistically significant only at discharge (p=0.048); the difference at admission is not significant (p=0.51) - possibly because of alcoholic-nutritional polyneuropathy. These findings, with numerous related details, later presented in the text, are surprising, which requires further studies and attempts of understanding.

Introduction: Associated with the Western diet and life style,diverticular disease is affecting more and more developing countries worldwide. Recent studies show an increase in incidence of the disease at young age, that raises the risk of complications, along with major consequences for the patient but also for the healthcare system., Method: Systematic review of the literature with US National Library of Medicine and National Institutes of Health International PubMed Medline, using abstracts and articles available in PubMed Medline, Cochrane databases searching for ("Diverticulosis, Colonic epidemiology" [MeSH] OR"Diverticulosis, Colonic etiology" [MeSH] OR "Diverticulosis,Colonic genetics" [MeSH] OR "Diverticulosis, Colonic history" [MeSH])., Results: Even from the rise of diverticular disease as a public healthcare problem, at the end of the previous century, it was associated with a diet rich in refined sugars, lacking vegetable fibres. The higher incidence in countries like U.S.A., Canada, United Kingdom and the northern states compared with its rare occurrence in the sub-Saharan African continent, strengthen the anterior assumptions. In regions like Asia, the disease pattern is characterized by are latively low incidence of colonic diverticular disease, with distribution of diverticula mainly on the right colon. The different incidence by sex and age show the possible existence of hormonal protective factors. Studies from countries with a rich ethnic diversity, bring into question the probable genetic predisposition to diverticular disease, fact backed-up by the few studies on twins and 1st degree relatives available in the literature., Discussion: The rising incidence of colonic diverticular disease in Romania makes our country adhere the epidemiologic model existing in countries with a close socio-economic status.Although with a lower incidence than countries that have adopted a Western diet, Romania is likely to encounter a public health problem, if certain measures to identify and minimise the population exposure to risk factors are not taken., (Celsius.)

The authors used a relative new method of long term retrospective evaluation of metabolic balance in type 2 diabetes. This method was based on the variations of the glucose in the hair with the variations of HbA1c (r=+0.96; p<0.001). In this way the authors could follow up the diabetic's metabolic balance on longer time periods than by determination of the HbA1 values.

A study of 48 patients with angina pectoris carried out, in which the structural lipids of the hair were analyzed and correlated with the manifestations of angina and the potential incidence of dyslipidemia. It was noted that the excesses of hair lipids associated with deficiencies of some unsaturated fatty acids raised the frequency of angina attacks in the group studied by 2.7 times. The normalization of the lipid levels diminished the levels of angina. Data were obtained on the influence over a long time (weeks, months) of the hypolipidemic treatment. The analysis of the hair has been shown to be also useful in detecting latent dyslipidemia associated with angina pectoris. Also, through the analysis of hair, large scale epidemiologic studies can be carried out on the association between dyslipidemia and angina pectoris.

The levels of urinary amino acids (cystine, amino acids with basic character, branched chain amino acids and phenylalanine) were determined in the 24 hr urines of 5,500 newborns and in 20 subjects ranging in age from 2.5 to 20 years, with a suspicion of metabolic diseases. Seven newborns have shown a biochemical pattern of cystinuria. The urinary cystine levels in the first days of life appeared to correlate with an increased risk of developing, at the adult age, metabolic mono- or bilateral urolithiasis.

Assays of the branched chain amino acids, of those with basic character, of phenylalanine and glutamic acid were performed in the 24 hrs urines of 50 patients with psychic disorders, ranging in age from 0 to 20 years, and in 30 normal controls. Similar investigations were carried out in the patients' parents. Abnormal levels of urinary amino acids in some of the adults suggested the existence of mutant genes in one or both parents of one or two descendents with mental handicap. The levels of urinary amino acids correlated with the severity of the predominant psychic manifestations, which were more severe in the cases with a wide deviation from normal of aminoaciduria.

The lipid metabolism was evaluated using a new method for assay of the hair contents in unsaturated fatty acids. Determinations in various hair segments and in the blood serum were performed before and after a hypolipemic diet and drug therapy in hypercholesterolemic patients in comparison with a control group. The correlation factors between the levels of the oleic, linoleic and linolenic acids in the serum and those in the hair were +0.967, +0.987 and +0.992, respectively. The method provides information on the therapy influence on the lipid metabolism variations within several weeks or months.

Assays of glucose and proteic sulphur levels in the hair of patients with recently detected IDDM provided information on the preclinical stage of insulin secretion disorders, which was estimated at 6 +/- 2 months. Such investigations in subjects at high risk of developing an IDDM might reveal the period preceding the disease onset, thus enabling to start an early therapy.

Investigations in newborns, children and young adults have revealed an inverse proportion between aminoaciduria and plasma hemoglobin (Hb) levels. Values above normal were recorded for alanine, leucine, valine, phenylalanine and glutamic acid, correlating proportionally with their increased blood levels, and preceding or being concomitant with the decrease of plasma Hb, both during the first 20 months of life and in young adults. The return to near normal values of aminoaciduria occurred generally only after an early treatment with minerals, vitamins and trace elements (Supradyn), activators of the enzymes involved in the amino acid metabolism. After treatment, the Hb levels also became almost normal. An early re-equilibration of the amino acid metabolism can prevent the risk of developing, at the adult age, certain anemias and other diseases (rachitism, mental handicap, urinary infections, conjunctivitis, stomatitis, a.o.). The correlation factor was r = 0.964 and the differences between the data recorded in patients and in controls were statistically significant (p < 0.01).

A new method of long term, retrospective evaluation of the lipid metabolism balance, by cholesterol and lipid assays in the human hair, is described. The correlation index between the blood and the hair cholesterol and lipid concentrations was + 0.980 and + 0.9925, respectively. The effects of hypolipemic diet and drug therapy on the cholesterol and lipid values were studied comparatively in the blood and in successive hair segments. The results demonstrate that the new method permits an evaluation of the therapy effectiveness and of the lipid metabolism variations during several weeks or months.

A new method of long-term retrospective evaluation of the metabolic balance in type 1 diabetic was based on the variations of the hair biochemical components. Glucose, proteic sulfur and amino acid assays were performed in two consecutive hair segments, proximal and distal, of 1.5 cm each. The differences between the glucose and the sulfur values in the two segments correlated with the HbA1 levels (r = +0.971 and r = +0.957, respectively), being statistically significant in both situations (p less than 0.001). The hair components assay permits to follow up the diabetics' metabolic balance on longer time periods than by determination of the HbA1 values.

Study on 24-hour, 30- and 60-day urine collected from 1500 newborn infants pointed out in some cases an abnormal excretion of some of the 40 urinary metabolites investigated. The analysis of urinary metabolites allows to detect a relation between abnormal excretion of urine metabolites and various types of "inborn errors of metabolism".
