Short videos are very popular in China. The provincial TV stations in China use short videos to disseminate information. Curiosity about the influence of short video news is the primary motivation of this study. This paper integrates theories of news and place, focuses on local visibility, explores how short videos can serve as media infrastructure to report news, construct local visibility and change public life. Taking a sample of official short videos from 31 provincial TV stations in China, this paper uses the narrative analysis method to decode the videos. It is found that short videos create a unique news space which are reflected in narrative language, narrative framework and narrative theme, respectively. This study argues that the short video platform has shaped a place with public vitality, participated in local image management, and built the "visible community". This has innovated the existing theoretical relationship between news and place, and the short video media practice of TV stations in various provinces has provided the world with the Chinese experience of creating place. Audiences' shifts to online and interactive engagement have posed numerous challenges to Bangladesh's media ecology. This descriptive case study examines the current state of digital transition, complexities and competitions faced by the local television industry by putting Ntv Online, one of the first-generation television station's online portals and convergence pioneers, at the centre of the discussion. It explains how Ntv Online is internalizing and responding to convergence practice from both media market dynamics and organizational perspectives. This study believes that issues other than those raised by media technology are equally important in comprehending the digital transition of Bangladesh's television industry. The key findings indicate that the hybrid regime's intervention in free media practices as well as complex market competition from massive tech platforms limit Bangladesh's trajectory as a competitor in the global digital media arcade. This also implies that existing ownership and corporate structures may not support the required interoperability between management and journalists. However, the digital transitions of the private TV industry may pave the way for the creation of a democratic space for public deliberation, which is essentially demanded in the current hybrid regime's intervention in actualizing this shift. This study examines the diversity of news sourcing in Ethiopian TV channels, utilizing Critical Political Economy approach. It analyses 1167 news stories from 2019 to 2021 and interviews with 25 journalists. The study reveals disparity in the representation of peripheral communities, despite the utilization of various news sources. This indicates that diversifying news sources alone does not guarantee equal representation of diverse voices. Economic limitations, editorial decisions, and language barriers confine news gathering to specific geographic regions. Journalists' limited autonomy and newsroom culture contribute to prioritizing government affairs thereby limiting diversity of voices. The study suggests collaborative efforts among news editors, managers, and political authorities, and policy framework for multicultural news production, to achieve content and voice diversity. It emphasizes the need to combine normative principles with real-world practices and the impact of resource constraints on media reception and viewer choices in future research. Objective: Media centralism and the lack of attention to the preferences and demands of local audiences is an obvious reality that must be faced by those who live outside large cities and capitals, understanding that there are audiences that demand local content, but that must settle for a programming produced from and for the capital, even more so when it comes to the Chilean television system. This article characterizes the tensions of local audiences in northern Chile in relation to their local television, also called proximity. Materials and methods: The study carried out a qualitative methodology, since it seeks to understand human behavior in a given territory and historical moment. The data collection was carried out using the technique of focus groups in order to explain and deepen the situations of people as local audiences and their feelings and thoughts on various problems. The focus groups discussed their local television and their link with national television considering the informational centralism and political centralism within the Coquimbo Region. The sample corresponds to the audience of cities belonging to urban and rural communes of the Coquimbo Region, in Chile, where there are local television media and that have declared their intention to migrate to digital television. The cities that are part of the study are: Andacollo, La Serena, Los Vilos, Illapel and Salamanca. For recruitment, the snowball method was used, with a total of 52 participants. All the participants were over 18 years of age with a residence of more than 10 years in the city. There was gender balance. Six focus groups were held in neighborhood offices in each city. The sessions were recorded and later transcribed, being systematized using the Atlas.ti software, version 9. Resulted: The results are described through three categories of analysis, regarding the opinions of the audiences: 1) Local information 2) National television: positive and negative aspects and 3) Information centralism and media demands. 1) Local information as a center of interest: Audiences place local news among their preferences. In each focus group, the informative genre of these media was highly valued and required. It represents a fundamental demand when evaluating local television positively. 2) Link with national television coverage: Along with the preference for local news, there is also an unfavorable opinion towards national news and towards the journalistic routines of the capital television stations whose coverage privileges the events that occurred in the Metropolitan Region in the information guidelines, often falling into sensationalism, especially when it comes to police court facts. 3) Information centralism and media demands: in the opinion of the participants, the tensions between the local and the capital are not only appreciated at the country level, but also between regional capitals, provinces and communes, following the political-administrative division of Chile. Conclusions: Regarding the characteristics of local television consumption, a first conclusion was the confirmation of the interest and consumption of local audiences in content that addresses issues related to their environment, an issue that is in line with previous studies on communication and local television. Similar to national television consumption, local news represented the preferred content. If there is a fire or a traffic accident in the city, audiences want to see it on their local television and, hopefully, live or as instantly as possible. This is informative content that does not compete in any case with national television, as it deals with local news events. Unless something out of the ordinary happens, whose connotation is national and in this case -the fewest times-the city, province or region makes news and appears nationally. A very important link was detected between local audiences with their own territories. The link was verified through two factors: a) the expectations of seeing local content not only on themes about their cities, but also from geographically broader places, such as communes, provinces or the Coquimbo Region itself; b) a large part of the social demands that underlie the opinions of the audiences surround feelings of belonging, desire for decentralization and local development. The need for representation of local audiences is verified, that is, seeing their territories on the screen, feeling reflected on national TV through their cultural, territorial, geographical, touristic, or other particularities is the cause that is associated Local (non-capital) audiences are part of a marginalized sector from a political and economic point of view. In this sense, there is a glimpse of a disconnection between the political/public world that promotes actions that should benefit the community, but that fail to reach potential users in a good way. In the same line of discussion, social demands for access to public information that benefits them and brings them closer to local political actors are detected. Know and understand the territorial public policies that result in a better quality of life. These social/political demands are intermingled with the media needs that could be channeled into more spaces to debate, talk and express their opinions to participate in the local public debate. This article discusses the global expansion of the children's television series Sesame Street. The series was created in the United States in 1969 with the goal of preparing preschool-aged children for formal education, particularly those who were disadvantaged by racial and class inequities. This study examines how local television broadcasters use Facebook to enhance social media news engagement. By scraping 1,063 news posts from nine local television stations' Facebook pages, this investigation performs a content analysis on different features of news posts, including news topics, message vividness and interactivity, post time, and length of the post. This paper proposes a short-term forecasting method for high-frequency broadcast Maximum Usable Frequency (MUF) based on Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) to meet the demand for refined and precise high-frequency broadcast coverage. Based on the existing infrastructure of broadcast and television stations, we established an experimental verification system to collect data for approximately three years. Two links were selected based on data quality: Urumqi to Lhasa and Lanzhou to Lhasa. A short-term forecast of MUF was conducted using the data from these two links. Comparison and analysis were conducted between the forecasting results of our model and those of the REC533 model. Our proposed method outperforms the REC533 forecasting results overall, with a reduction in root mean square error (RMSE) of 0.66 MHz and an improvement in forecast accuracy of 14.77%. Mobile applications are already part of the contemporary news experience, which increasingly includes the convergent mobile application news content of conventional media, such as television stations. Impressively, the experience of such convergences has spread to include developing nations, including Nigeria. However, despite the enormous digital device and media penetrations in the country, little research has been done in order to understand the nature of such television stations' mobile application news. With regards to the foregoing, and the importance of associated news locations, this content analysis research has been conducted and has found serious correlation between ownership type and television application news content. While Africa is the dominant proximate news locations of the prominent Nigerian television mobile application news studied, the news spread categories are largely similar across all mobile application news content. A significant body of literature exists examining the coverage of the first Nagorno-Karabakh war by Western media. However, there is a lack of comparative studies analyzing the coverage of the second Nagorno-Karabakh war by both Eastern and Western media. We examined 245 news reports from two prominent Eastern channels (TRT World and Al-Jazeera) and two prominent Western channels (BBC World News and DW) through content and frequency analyses. This study aims to investigate the magnitude of Air Time dedicated to the second Karabakh war by both Eastern and Western media, examining the disparities between the two. Additionally, it seeks to analyze the lexicosemantic linguistic manipulation techniques employed and the use of euphemisms and dysphemisms during the coverage. Our research reveals a pronounced bias favoring Armenia in the coverage provided by both Western television channels. Conversely, among Eastern television stations, TRT World exhibited a distinct pro-Azerbaijani leaning, while Al-Jazeera maintained a relatively neutral standpoint. This clearly shows that media outlets and journalists are not free from bias. This study explores how the democratization of media in Indonesia enhanced the role of television stations in raising voters' political awareness about the 2014 legislative election. For this qualitative study, we interviewed two media experts and the chief editors of six television stations. We find that there are three general factors negatively affect TV's role as a free public sphere, namely, production constraints, owners political interests, and commercial aspects of the television industry. Concentration of ownership and commercialization have increased television's orientation toward profit, minimizing its educative role, and minimizing its neutrality. However, television still increased voters' awareness regarding the election technicalities but failed to reflect the visions of the competing candidates. The establishment of innovative community television could be an alternative for commercial TV in Indonesia. However, the performance of community TVs in Indonesia is hindered by the restricted access to frequency spectrum and low financial capabilities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this ever-expanding visual landscape it is essential to ask ourselves: how do televisual images manage to attract, captivate and fascinate? What exactly gives them this seductive power? The vision of the chosen problem regarding the research topic on the seductive power of the image is objective, balanced, based on empirical and theoretical analysis, avoiding value judgments on this complex phenomenon, approached over time from multiple perspectives. To provide a detailed insight into how televisual images influence and seduce, the main aim of the assignment is to identify the specific mechanisms, strategies and techniques used, explore and understand how televisual images use various visual rhetorical techniques. Television uses various seduction strategies to maintain and gain the trust and loyalty of the audience. Ratings are the basis for the survival of programmes and the key to commercial television (TV) stations’ operations in Taiwan. Therefore, in the decisionmaking process of drama purchasing, TV stations need an objective and comprehensive selection model owing to the complex criteria and because the drama purchasing decision is crucial to their ratings and operations. From the viewpoint of commercial TV station managers, we proposed a decisionmaking model to select overseas dramas. We first established the criteria for purchasing overseas dramas based on past literature and fuzzy Delphi method (FDM), including American, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese dramas. The case commercial TV station then selected the most suitable Chinese dramas for purchase by conducting empirical research with decision making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL), analytic network process (ANP), and technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS). This model provides an objective, quantitative, and effective way for commercial TV stations to purchase the optimal overseas dramas with academic and practical value and contribution.
