Disasters are the consequences of natural, technological, or anthropogenic events that directly or indirectly cause physical, economic, social, and environmental losses on people and human settlements, and affect communities by stopping or interrupting normal life and human activities. Though there are several natural disasters, earthquakes cause the most damage in Turkey in terms of damage rate and number of people affected. On the other hand, landslides, floods, rockfalls, avalanches and forest fires also cause considerable damage and economic losses. In Turkey, which is an earthquake-prone country, two devastating earthquakes with a magnitude of 7 Mw in Kahramanmaraş and 7.6 Mw in Hatay Kırıkhan occurred on 6 February 2023. While these earthquakes were effective in Malatya, Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Hatay, Adana, Osmaniye, Kilis and surrounding counties, 50,399 people lost their lives and 1,279,727 structures (independent units) were damaged. The aim of this study is to determine what has been done within the scope of post-disaster temporary shelter applications in disaster areas and which methods were used to create these areas. In the study, temporary sheltering practices in Nurdağı District of Gaziantep province, one of the settlements most affected by the earthquake, were examined. In this context, evaluations were made regarding the qualifications, adequacy level and functions of prefabricated and temporary shelter areas such as tents, containers and masonry structures created in the district.

Tetanus toxin (TeNT) and botulinum neurotoxins (BoNTs) are neuroprotein toxins, with the latter being the most toxic known protein. They are structurally similar and contain three functional domains: an N-terminal catalytic domain (light chain), an internal heavy-chain translocation domain (HN domain), and a C-terminal heavy chain receptor binding domain (Hc domain or RBD). In this study, fusion functional domain molecules consisting of the TeNT RBD (THc) and the BoNT/A RBD (AHc) (i.e., THc-Linker-AHc and AHc-Linker-THc) were designed, prepared, and identified. The interaction of each Hc domain and the ganglioside receptor (GT1b) or the receptor synaptic vesicle glycoprotein 2 (SV2) was explored in vitro. Their immune response characteristics and protective efficacy were investigated in animal models. The recombinant THc-linker-AHc and AHc-linker-THc proteins with the binding activity had the correct size and structure, thus representing novel subunit vaccines. THc-linker-AHc and AHc-linker-THc induced high levels of specific neutralizing antibodies, and showed strong immune protective efficacy against both toxins. The high antibody titers against the two novel fusion domain molecules and against individual THc and AHc suggested that the THc and AHc domains, as antigens in the fusion functional domain molecules, do not interact with each other and retain their full key epitopes responsible for inducing neutralizing antibodies. Thus, the recombinant THc-linker-AHc and AHc-linker-THc molecules are strong and effective bivalent biotoxin vaccines, protecting against two biotoxins simultaneously. Our experimental design will be valuable to develop recombinant double-RBD fusion molecules as potent bivalent subunit vaccines against bio-toxins. Key points: • Double-RBD fusion molecules from two toxins had the correct structure and activity. • THc-linker-AHc and AHc-linker-THc efficiently protected against both biotoxins. • Such bivalent biotoxin vaccines based on the RBD are a valuable experimental design. DIALECTS , *TENTS - Abstract
Since the early period of humanity, "shelter" has been one of the basic needs of humans. "Tent", one of the forms of shelter, whose functions change over time according to the societies. "Tent", which positions itself in mythical perception and cultural codes as well as its functions in the daily life of the Turks, has been used in many literary works in different ways and meanings. In this study, text scanning and text-centered folklore functionality methods were used. It was tried to determine in what ways and meanings the word "tent" was used and what functions it had in the language works of historical Turkish dialects from the 8th to the 18th centuries. With the data obtained, it was aimed to understand the Turks' perception of tents in the cultural memory of urban and rural individuals and, accordingly, the naturalness or artificiality of their relationship with nature, and to analyze their social and cultural codes in the context of folklore, based on the meanings of the word "tent". Lamentations 2.1–8 depicts the attack of God on Jerusalem and the temple. God is the subject of almost every verb in the unit, and this heightens the theological dimension of the crisis compared with chapter 1. This perspective is reinforced by the many images of the city as a centre of worship. The focus on the cult is not limited to the mention of feasts, sabbath, altar and sanctuary in 2.6–7 but is in evidence from verse 1 with the city described as 'under a cloud' and called 'the beauty of Israel' and God's 'footstool'. This way of viewing Jerusalem is bolstered by the images of 'the tent of the daughter of Zion' (2.4), and God's 'booth' (2.6a). God's action against Zion signals the breakdown of the relationship between Y hwh and his people, and it also disables the usual cultic mechanisms for mending that relationship. The dwellings that people have acquired since ancient times to meet their housing needs have been of interest to disciplines that examine people and society. These spaces, which are seen as private spaces, have unifying and separating functions. The border and connection of houses with the outside world is provided by door. While door isolates the private life from the outside, it transfers the data about the inner life to the outside. The different position of door from other parts of the house draws attention. Door determining especially the boundaries of the family, which is the smallest unit of the society, stands out with its material and spiritual aspects. In this study in which different features, aspects and functions of doors are discussed, the samples of Turkish tent doors are examined. While nomadic Turkish communities meet their shelter needs with tents in accordance with their living conditions, they have arranged their doors in line with traditional world views. For this purpose, carpets, rugs and felt were used to cover, decorate and protect, in addition to wooden wings at the entrance of the tent. Particular emphasis has been given on the protection of the family. In this study, an evaluation was made on the material data obtained by conducting field research in Anatolia and verbal sources were used. The relationship of the door with the Turkish family and social structure, the functions of the textile products used for the door and their intended use were examined, and their roles in carrying and transferring cultural elements and reflecting the cultural unity among Turkish tribes was tried to be displayed. Objective We describe a novel and safe CT biopsy technique that we have termed the “Birmingham intervention tent technique (BITT).” This technique is ideal for biopsying osseous lesions where a direct approach is not possible due to difficult positioning. Methods The BITT uses a plastic surgical forceps clamp attached at an angle to the biopsy needle, creating a tent shape. The finger rings of the forceps is stabilized on the table. Results In our institution, we have already used the BITT successfully in over 10 cases. Conclusion The BITT is an inexpensive and reproducible technique.

Students of Chronicles have long been perplexed by the extensive treatment of the ark in the Chronicler's narratives, which is surprising, given the general assumption that the ark was not part of the paraphernalia of the postexilic temple. Following a brief review of the ark's depiction in Chronicles and earlier views regarding the implications of the ark's absence for the Chronicler, the present essay proffers a new approach to the place of the ark in the Chronicler's Weltanschauung. THERMAL comfort ,COVID-19 testing ,SOLAR radiation ,THERMOMETERS ,COOLING - Abstract
In Latvia to perform COVID-19 tests as well as for temporary shelters in case of a local disease outbreak the persons were located in special tents. Such practice was not only performed locally but also in other countries like the USA, UK, Russia, etc. The wide usage of tents was possible as the outbreak happened during the warm period of the year. At the same time, the indoor climate of tents can be quite unbearable during the warm summer days. Also, the situation was not getting better as fast as the prognosis, and the crisis was still ongoing during the winter period. Therefore, to test the thermal comfort of such temporary shelter's measurements were performed. The thermal comfort was measured in a tent from 27th May to 28th September 2020. The data was logged with three different measuring devices inside of the shelter as well as outside air parameters like temperature and solar radiation was logged. The results show the rapidly changing indoor temperature which reaches 40°C during the daytime and falls to 10°C at night. The data of the globe thermometer to analyze the influence of radiation from tent canvas was also studied and showed that there is no noticeable heat radiation from external walls. The PMV measurements showed that the thermal comfort is very low as the PMV values were outside the range of -1 to 1 for 57% of the time. The influence of the precipitation was also noted, and the results showed that the adiabatic cooling effect is very variable but in general does not noticeably change the indoor temperature, the average temperature decrease was only 1 °C, but for a specific case it reached 10°C. In his recounting of the Exodus narrative of the making of the priestly vestments in Judean Antiquities 3.151-180, 184-187, Josephus provides a vivid description of the high priest's wardrobe, including its cosmological connotations. This article shows that Josephus uses cosmological motifs in his recounting of the high priestly attire in order to convey a message to his intended audience in Rome. Josephus adds his own accents to the biblical narrative to convince his public that the high priest's fine clothing functions as a statement that the Judean God is not a national deity with restricted power, but the Highest God, who is the only creator, maintainer, and supreme ruler of the universe. Seen from this perspective, we observe Josephus in dialogue with a well-established Greco-Roman clothing imagery tradition that portrays gods and mortals in symbolic garments to enhance their far-reaching power or authority. In a recent essay Jaeyong Jeon has argued that the Chronicler's depiction of the Davidic and Mosaic tents, along with their cultic associated cultic paraphernalia and associated, bespeaks an anti-priestly Tendenz. This position, it is argued, constitutes part of Chronicles' critique of priestly hegemony and the book's interest in enhancing the status of Levites. The present article takes issue with this position; after addressing the difficulties in Jeon's proposal it proffers a very different understanding of the role of the Mosaic tent in the Chronicler's Weltanschauung. The modern fashion world is driven by fast fashion trends, and consequently the problem of over- consumption is occurred. Designers have a dramatic impact on reducing the material content of consumption and hence aggregate request on the environment through innovative designs which demand a new type of fashion practice based more on transformative acts and less on consumptive ones. The transformation process allow to raise the utility, functional possibilities and aesthetic properties of designs, thus transformable clothing has made progress to sustainability. This study aims to explore the feasibility of extending multi-functional product, and how to enable newly developed product to be both a safari clothing and various utilitarian items (backpack-sleeping bag-tent). The present study find that the multi-function transformation design is an effective way to solve material wastage of product manufacturing, improve utilization frequency of products and meet the basic needs of consumersWithin the fashion industry the trend for ‘fast fashion’ has generated an exponential rise in the sale of inexpensive fashion garments that are often worn too little, washed too often and are too quickly discarded, which lead to major implications for the environment and society. Fashion designer in industry needs to consider further criteria within the company’s design brief and accept that the design brief should extend beyond the usual economically driven conventional criterion, to include criteria that will meet the needs of the environment and society. [1]The fashion discipline is far behind, for example: industrial design in producing scientific environmental knowledge of designer’s use, trying new design methods to solve problems in more creative ways, or engaging consumers in sustainable transformation processes. By definition design for environment include environmental consideration and specially life cycle thinking. The sustainable design approach adds to the aforementioned the ethical and social dimensions of the product, in its manufacturing, use and disposal phases. [2]The transformable garments represent an actual group in the assortment of contemporary clothing, providing wide possibilities of obtaining multifunctional shapes. The transformable products include an ensemble of garments designed with diverse techniques and methods, both traditional and non-traditional. The morphological transformation techniques are based on the principles of reconstruction and transformation, facilitating the transformation of one product shape into another and transformation of elements in the interior of the same shape. "“Driving the winding Big Sur Coast Highway from Los Angeles to San Francisco in the summer of 2002, we observed how different the coniferous trees on one side of the road were from the other: inland, the trees stood upright and grew with symmetrical monumentality, while the windswept trees along the coast were bent over, deformed by the salty ocean spray and clinging to the impervious cliffs with their tangles of exposed roots. This landscape of difference symbolised an important concept for us: the seed, or archetypal idea, is the same for both trees, however, the specific conditions under which each seed grows forces them to adapt – the seeds are transfigured by their destined place of growth. Ideas in architecture are like seeds: they exist a priori, they sprout and flourish in different places and unexpected contexts throughout the centuries and, regardless of their innate sameness, achieve different outcomes”. This inquiry into the transformative nature of architectural ideas – that are both autonomous and conditioned by the environment – gives an insight into the way architects work and shows how stand-alone architectural ideas feed projects and break down their “otherness” in respect of South Tyrol, while at the same time making the Alpine landscapes of this area their own. Three projects (Ponte di Ghiaccio Mountain Lodge, Fischer House, and the St. Andrew School Complex) epitomise this ambiguous relationship with the site, tracing a series of architectural references, both modern and historical, to describe how these projects came into being without being specific to the “context”."

LIGHT art , *HIDES & skins , *TENTS , *HUMAN beings , *ART - Abstract
Human beings have preferred the tent a lot in order to be protected from external factors as well as its easy installation and comfortable transportation. Early examples of tents made with mammoth bones, wood and animal skins were found in 44,000 BC. It is also known that tents with many different designs also serve multiple purposes. Among these purposes there are also military expedition. Designed according to the needs of armies, these tents also differ within themselves. The tents designed for the king, high-ranking and un-rank soldiers participating in the expedition differ from in terms of their features. In this study, information about the development of the tent was given before the Assyrian Kingdom period. The main theme of our position is the tents of the New Assyrian Kingdom used in military expedition. The tents examined by taking into account written texts and visual works of art; it is seen that they are handled under two headings as "Simple Tents" and "King Tents" with their skeletal structure, comfort, meeting daily needs and functional features. These tents were redrawn in the light of visual works of art and tried to be described. In the light of the above mentioned features, it is thought that tents were built within the framework of a specific plan to facilitate the daily lives of kings and soldiers and to minimize the negative effects of the season. In our study, tents from the New Assyrian Kingdom period will be discussed from a new perspective. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract Background Tetanus neurotoxin (TeNT) is taken up at nerve terminals and undergoes retrograde migration. The toxic properties of TeNT reside in the toxin light chain (L), but like complete TeNT, the TeNT heavy chain (TTH) and the C-terminal domain (TTC) alone can bind and enter into neurons. Here, we explored whether atoxic fragments of TeNT could act as drug delivery vehicles in neurons. In this study, we used Bcl-2, a protein known to have anti-apoptotic properties in vivo and in vitro, as a parcel to couple to TeNT fragments. Results We expressed Bcl-2 and the TTC fragments alone, and also attempted to express fusion proteins with the Bcl-2 coupled at the N-terminus of TTH (Bcl2-TTH) and the N- and C-terminus of TTC (TTC-Bcl2 and Bcl2-TTC) in mammalian (Cos7 cells) and Escherichia coli systems. TTC and Bcl-2 were efficiently expressed in E. coli and Cos7 cells, respectively, but Bcl-2 and the fusion proteins did not express well in E. coli. The fusion proteins were also not expressed in Cos7 cells. To improve the yield and purity of the fusion protein, we genetically deleted the N-terminal half of TTC from the Bcl2-TTC fusion to yield Bcl2-hTTC. Purified Bcl2-hTTC exhibited neuronal binding and prevented cell death of neuronal PC12 cells induced by serum and NGF deprivation, as evidenced by the inhibition of cytochrome C release from the mitochondria. For in vivo assays, Bcl2-hTTC was injected into the tongues of mice and was seen to selectively migrate to hypoglossal nuclei mouse brain stems via retrograde axonal transport. Conclusions These results indicate that Bcl2-hTTC retains both Bcl-2 and TTC functions and therefore could be a potent therapeutic agent for various neurological conditions.

I argue that an increase in the number of oscillating rural-urban (ORU) and oscillating rural-diasporic (ORD) indigenous Zimbabweans' interments at dilapidated homes has resulted in the genesis and upsurge in temporary tent huts in which African Indigenous Religion (AIR) burial and funeral rituals are performed. Research findings conclude that there is an increasing number of ORU and ORD indigenous Zimbabweans who respectively after their deaths in urban centres and in the diaspora have AIR burial rites performed in tent huts at their deceased parents' ruined homes in the rural areas. Research findings also reveal that traditional burial societies died in Zimbabwe due to economic hardships and that necessitated the formation of Kinship Funeral Expenses Fund Groups (KFEFG) in urban centres by the ORU Zimbabweans and Funeral Insurance Policies (FIP) by Zimbabwean diasporians which replaced burial societies. The conclusion is that despite an increasing number of Zimbabweans living, educated and owning houses in urban centres in Zimbabwe and in foreign countries, they still regard their decrepit rural abodes as their spiritual home and a place for their burials when they die. Unsanctioned tent cities are increasing in number in cities throughout the western United States. Scholars explain the phenomenon as homeless people asserting their 'right to the city' or as 'managed marginality'. These explanations capture much of the socio‐political relationship between local government and homeless populations, but do not explain the long‐term persistence of tent cities and the fluctuating nature of their visibility. A spatial history of informal encampments in Sacramento at three key moments—the founding of the city, the Great Depression and the Great Recession—reveals a long‐term ebb and flow of tent cities occupying close‐to‐the‐center, urban vacancies. Urban vacancies arise from the partitioning of the city into specific purposes, places and people, a taken‐for‐granted perception of how cities should be. The visibility of tent cities disrupts this aesthetic notion of stability and growth as homeless people use the tent to protest their isolation and exclusion. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Citrus Greening Disease is a serious bacterial disease in citrus plants which causes loss of production of citrus fruits all over the world, including Brunei. A portable and thermal effective heat treatment tent was developed as an attempt to control and manage this disease. A 1.4 m tall tent with opaque canvas was fabricated to test for a 1.2 m tall lime tree. The testing involved heat treatment tests for three days with tent having black plastic sheet bottom cover and without bottom cover over the soil surface around the plant. Overall, the results proved that the plant was not damaged during the heat treatment, and the fabricated tent frame was light and portable with minor folding and stability problems. The tent was unable to maintain the desired temperature 38oC - 42oC for more than 5 hours due to the sun position and changing weather conditions, but the heat treatment test with tent having bottom black colour plastic sheet was able to maintain the temperature of the bottom part of the plant more effectively. Hence, the tent can be used in agricultural sites at full scale to treat the infected plants in Brunei environment and the cost of the tent is approximately BN$100 at the present market price. - Abstract
Optimizing customer satisfaction is vital to maintain relevance as well as being competitive on a growing market. This research is aimed to explore what aspects of design and functionality that should be prioritized when developing solo tunnel tents for four season use within a European market. Since solo tents are small in size, users seem to prioritize purchasing a tent for two people because it provides bigger space for equipment, accompanied animals and is more reliable in bad weather. To examine the research questions, a design theory and human centered design method has been applied to optimize customer satisfaction. The study consists of literature study, survey, interviews, empathy mapping and prototyping, which resulted in an implemented prototype for a four season solo tent planned for future production. Furthermore, a prototype has been developed by data conducted from the survey, interviews and a design brief given by the partnering company. Conspicuous results have been shown through a survey and interviews, which explains the difficulties in development of tents to ensure a wider range of customer satisfaction. Findings in this research emerged that weight was not the most important aspect when buying a four season solo tent. A correlation has been investigated, there was an expectation from the producer that lightweight tents were preferred by the users, however this research exposed that it is not as important as imagined for a four season solo tent. In the sense of a solo tent for four seasons, the users desire space over weight. Furthermore, the results also showed that there was a difference in requirements related to the two different groups that had been investigated. It was found that experienced users had a higher preference of design and ergonomic aspects compared to the common users that did not rank it as important. Within this research a total of 55 people participated, where 44 people participated in the survey and 11 people participated

The lands of Ottoman domination have attracted Western Travellers in almost all periods of history. The travellers visiting Turkish lands with different purposes penned lots of things they saw and were attracted to. They also recorded their observations, especially about the konargoçers called Yoruk or Turkman, which were one of the essential elements of Turkish Society in their travels. They referred to their tents in use due to their mobile way of life, depending on the seasonal variations in winter quarters, pasture and fall range, and their other types of domicile, either in detail or in general. They also referred to the equipment, set up and interior characteristics of the tents. While they mentioned the name, karaçadır, they did not speak of topak ev, alaçık, huğ and the names of the other types of domicile, but mostly, they described their general appearance and forms. Based on their observations, these travellers mostly tried to describe the surrounding as it was. However, there were some who could not get rid of their Orientalist point of view, as well as others who put forward a romantic perspective. The travellers unfolded both the different types of tents, and several other types of domicile used together with them while they put forward their regional and geographical distribution by mentioning the varieties of dwellings and tent types in their information. Goal. The purpose of the tent modification type USB-56 is improvements its exploitative characteristics and reduction the cost of its production. Method. During the study of the physical and mechanical properties of the fabric, techniques were used to determine linear dimensions, linear and surface densities, to determine the breaking characteristics during stretching of the fabric, to determine the hygroscopic and water repellent properties of the tissue. All of the previously used methods are from the normative and technical documentations. The selection of samples of tissue was carried out in accordance with the requirements of normative documents. Results. Tests of fabric samples of cotton were conducted in the accredited analytical and experimental testing laboratory of Kyiv National University of Technology and Design. The results of the tests showed that according to physical and mechanical parameters, modified fabric corresponds to the requirements of normative documentations, and according to some indicators exceeds them. However, the results of the tests after irradiation in laboratory conditions using the xenon arc lamp showed that, depending on the exposure area in the natural environment, the aging resistance decreased. Scientific novelty. On the basis of the results of experimental studies of the properties of modified tissue of art. 16sKVgl + VO proved the expediency of its use for the manufacture of tents type USB-56. The dependence of the coefficient of loss of water resistance of the fabric on the region of use of the fabric is determined. Practical value. Recommendations for enhancing the operational properties of the USB-56 tent will form the basis for the development of regulatory documentation for the tent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

EUKARYOTES , *RNA , *CELL nuclei , *TRANSFERASES , *POLYMERASES - Abstract
In eukaryotes, almost all RNA species are processed at their 3' ends and most mRNAs are polyadenylated in the nucleus by canonical poly(A) polymerases. In recent years, several terminal nucleotidyl transferases (TENTs) including non-canonical poly(A) polymerases (ncPAPs) and terminal uridyl transferases (TUTases) have been discovered. In contrast to canonical polymerases, TENTs' functions are more diverse; some, especially TUTases, induce RNA decay while others, such as cytoplasmic ncPAPs, activate translationally dormant deadenylated mRNAs. The mammalian genome encodes 11 different TENTs. This review summarizes the current knowledge about the functions and mechanisms of action of these enzymes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective We describe a novel and safe CT biopsy technique that we have termed the "Birmingham intervention tent technique (BITT)." This technique is ideal for biopsying osseous lesions where a direct approach is not possible due to difficult positioning. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Tent architecture is used in disaster conditions and emergencies, but in this millennium era, it is not only a disaster condition but as a glamping tent or glamorous camping. This writing aims to produce a hybrid architecture, a prediction of the needs of Generation Z for temporary space. The research method is qualitative interpretive, shaping the architectural space interpreted as experimentation to build a wearable shelter which includes; 1). The temporal space of the Millennial generation; 2). Portable architecture; 3). Typology of portable tents; 4). The ideal tent. The result is a nomadic space intended to support the productivity and self-expression of a new generation, which heeds global concerns for health and the environment while engendering a new informality. The findings of this study are the transformation of architectural hybrids from tents to raincoats for the millennial generation.

Since ancient times, people have felt the need for shelter in order to protect themselves from wild animals and adverse weather conditions. In order to meet their need for shelter, they used the opportunities that their geography offered them. The ancient Turks who adopted the nomadic lifestyle and the Yörüks who still maintain the nomadic lifestyle today; Since they constantly shuttle between highlands and winter quarters, they have met their shelter needs with tent-type houses that are easy to set up, disassemble and transport. The ancient Turks also included motifs from Turkish mythology and old Turkish religion in the architectural development of the tents, which they saw as a part of their lives. Over time, tent types have diversified and different types of tents have emerged. The variety of these tents differs sometimes in terms of the economic power of the tent owners and sometimes in terms of the materials used. This article, which was revealed by making use of various sources, examines the development and symbolism of tent culture in Turks., İlk çağlardan bu yana insanlar, vahşi hayvanlardan ve olumsuz hava koşullarından kendilerini koruyabilmek adına barınma ihtiyacı hissetmişlerdir.

ARCHITECTURE & society , *TENTS , *HOUSING , *AGONISM (Political science) , *SOCIAL history - Abstract
Mass social protest erupted in Israel in 2011 around the banner of housing, with citizens pitching hundreds of tents in urban public spaces all over the country. The tent, as a symbol of and the architecture for political action, aligned communities deeply alienated from each other – the middle class and very poor, renters and homeowners, Ashkenazim and Mizrahim, Jews and Arabs-Palestinians – in a shared demand for housing. Solidarity revolving around shared bodily discomfort over the precarious dwelling situation deepened as communities faced the uncanny realisation that tents invoke the dwelling history of each of them: Ashkenazi Zionist pioneers of the 1920s credited as founders of the nation, Palestinian refugees’ facing dispossession and negotiating right of return, and Mizrahim who were marginalised and racialised in immigrant absorption camps. In 2011 protest tents materialised the competing narratives of these conflicted social groups while simultaneously serving as a shared space for political action. This paper explores the history of tent dwellings in Israel–Palestine since the 1910s as the uncanny architecture of nation building and object of shared, though conflicting, narratives of gain and loss. Architectural space emerges from this study as the ‘matter that matters’, producing a political community of conflicted groups, as proposed by Chantalle Mouffe and Bruno Latour. Mouffe and Latour identified the social role of designed spatial objects as crucial for understanding ways in which politics and space are affected by changes to the material world. This paper’s contribution expands on the architectural history of Israel–Palestine and adds to scholarship of the political meaning of architecture as a social ‘object of concern’, applicable beyond this case. A press photograph taken at the 1922 National Colonial Exposition in Marseille captures Hubert Lyautey, resident general of the French Protectorate of Morocco from 1912 to 1925, departing from his own Moroccan-style imperial tent, pitched in the courtyard of the French protectorate’s pavilion. While it is tempting to understand this image as rather generic colonial propaganda built upon a visual language of Orientalizing tropes, this study argues that Lyautey’s appropriation of elite Moroccan tensile architecture indicates the early French protectorate regime’s larger strategy of exhibiting cultural authority in the service of political legitimacy in colonial Morocco. The pattern of insect succession and the species composition on cadavers can be influenced by several parameters, one of which is concealment. It has been previously shown for cadavers inside containers (e.g. suitcases or vehicles) or various indoor situations, that concealment can lead to a delayed arrival, altered species composition and decreased number of taxa present at the cadaver. As no data is yet available for the specific environment of tents on these processes, we placed five pig cadavers inside closed two-person tents during the summer of 2021 in a mixed forest in Germany. Five control cadavers were freely accessible for insects. To minimize disturbances, tents were only opened every fifth day over a period of 25 days for estimating the temperature profiles, insect diversity and quantification of the cadavers' decomposition using the total body score (TBS). The temperature inside the tents was only slightly elevated compared to the ambient temperature during the study. Although the tents prevented direct access of adult flies and beetles, the cadavers were colonized because the flies oviposited on the zippers and fly screens of the inner tents. However, the resulting infestation of the cadavers by fly larvae was reduced and delayed, compared to the exposed cadavers. The dominant fly species on both the tent and exposed cadavers was the blow fly Lucilia caesar. Open cadavers showed the expected decomposition patterns with large larval masses. 25 days after placement, only bones and hair remained from the exposed pigs (TBS = 32), while most of the tissue of the cadavers inside the tents was still present (TBS = 22.5) and post feeding larvae were not able to leave the tents. Regarding the attraction of beetles to both treatments, open cadavers were predominately colonized by the silphid Oiceoptoma thoracicum , while the silphid Necrodes littoralis was the most dominant species in the pitfall traps surrounding the tents. Considering the prolonged pre-appearance interval of fly larvae colonizing the cadavers inside tents, the entomological evidence of forensic cases dealing with concealed bodies should be handled with caution, since the post mortem interval might be significantly underestimated. • Pig cadavers inside the tents were inaccessible for adult flies and beetles. • Oviposition of adult flies took place on the fly mesh and inner tents' zippers. • Cadaver infestation by fly larvae was delayed and highly reduced. • Altered and reduced pattern of insect succession lead to a slower decomposition process. In his recounting of the Exodus narrative of the making of the priestly vestments in Judean Antiquities 3.151-180, 184-187, Josephus provides a vivid description of the high priest’s wardrobe, including its cosmological connotations. This article shows that Josephus uses cosmological motifs in his recounting of the high priestly attire in order to convey a message to his intended audience in Rome. Josephus adds his own accents to the biblical narrative to convince his public that the high priest’s fine clothing functions as a statement that the Judean God is not a national deity with restricted power, but the Highest God, who is the only creator, maintainer, and supreme ruler of the universe. Seen from this perspective, we observe Josephus in dialogue with a well-established Greco-Roman clothing imagery tradition that portrays gods and mortals in symbolic garments to enhance their far-reaching power or authority.

The severed heads are rarely highlighted in the chanson de egste. Aspremont, which tells the story of Charlemagne’s conquest of southern Italy, is an exception : the care and luxury of detail with which the severed heads of the defeated Saracens are presented puts us on the track of the valorization of this motif in Arthurian literature. Yet the link between the two materials is inscribed at the very heart of the song, since the juggler accompanying Charlemagne’s expedition is from Brittany and is called Graelent. So could not the severed Saracen heads be interpreted in the light of the severed head presented to Peredur in the eponymous Breton novel ?

The works in the field of Divan Literature also contain some elements of the social and cultural life of the period in which they were written. In our study, we have revealed the usage patterns of tent, which is one of these elements, in Divan poetry with sample couplets and bends. This study was carried out with the aim of revealing that Divan Poetry is a field that reflects art, history and social life and contributing to academic studies on this subject. In our study, we have taken as basis the 18th century poets Nedim and Sünbülzade Vehbi Divans, as they contain couplets and bents in which the tent is mentioned, and because it contains more examples than other poets on this subject. In our study, after giving information about the concept of tent and its history , the poems that include the tent element were explained and examined. In the couplets and bends in the said divans, it is stated that the tent is formed as an elements of simile and is associated with different concepts and elements; However, we have revealed that these poems contain information about the establisments and construction phase of the tent and the decorative arts used in the sultan’s tents

In this paper, the indoor air thermal equilibrium of the tent was modeled based on the law of conservation of energy, and the model was validated by experimental tests. The results showed that the experimental values coincided well with the theoretical calculation values, and the maximum deviation did not exceed 5%. In addition, we also analyzed the tent indoor air temperature on the sensitivity of the tent inner surface temperature and the air permeability, obtaining the fact that the tent inner surface temperature was the key factor of affecting the tent indoor thermal environment.
