In this study, we investigate the phonological properties and the dialectal distribution of lexical creations documented in the context of trading cards, typically used during childhood and preadolescence. Based on responses to an online questionnaire by 394 participants, we identified four different word formation processes, namely syntactic phrases shortening (sile < 'sí le tengo'), lexical shortening (repe < 'repetido'), syllabic epenthesis (sipi < 'sí') and ending modification (tengui < 'tengo'). Phonologically, we claim that the trochaic foot plays a crucial role in determining the prosodic shape and the stress patterns of these new creations, given that they tend to be disyllabic and display paroxytone stress. Dialectally, we analyzed the regional distribution of the different forms, paying special attention to forms with «leísmo» (the use of the masculine dative pronoun le instead of accusative lo). The interest in these forms lies on the fact that they extend beyond typically «leísta» areas, suggesting that they diffused already lexicalised. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
