BACKGROUND: This study investigated the behavioral responses and toxicity of three basic amines: 1‐methylpiperazine, 1‐methylpyrrolidine, and triethylamine (TEA), compounds suggested previously to be anosmic in vapor exposures to caged mosquitoes. RESULTS: These compounds showed repellency of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, followed by flightlessness, knockdown, and paralysis, all increasing with exposure time and dosage. Electrophysiological experiments showed a blocking effect on nerve discharge of the Drosophila melanogaster larval central nervous system (CNS) with little evidence of hyperexcitation. Blockage of voltage‐gated (Kv2) potassium channel currents under patch clamp occurred at similar concentrations. Involvement of K+ channels in the action of basic amines was supported by behavior and CNS recordings of a Shaker Kv1 mutant exposed to TEA, where instead of blockage, a hyperexcitation of nerve firing was observed. Experiments on cockroach leg mechanoreceptors demonstrated neuronal excitation and on mosquito antennae strong electroantennogram (EAG) signals with an augmentation of blank air responses after a single puff of basic amine. CONCLUSIONS: The neurophysiological effects of basic amines are consistent with K+ channel block, whereas the antennal EAG response was not obviously associated with anosmia. The low‐dose effects of basic amines appear to be repellency and bradykinesia. AbstractThe synthesis of a novel large type double-layered cyclophanes has been successfully accomplished by free radical coupling reaction with the bis(N-alkylene benzothiazolium) dibromide salts as their important synthetic intermediates. The structures of the two-layered cyclophanes and the synthetic intermediates have been elucidated based on the NMR data and X-ray structural analysis, respectively. The two-layered cyclophanes consist of two different geometries, anti-two cyclic lactam amide rings inside and two bridges of disulfide bonds outside, which are unique and novel structures. An efficient and eco-friendly procedure was developed for the synthesis of N -aryl-2-((3-aryl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-5-yl)thio)acetamides from N -aryl-2-thiocyanatoacetamides and substituted N -hydroxybenzimidoyl chlorides that were prepared easily from the commercially available anilines and aryl aldehydes, respectively. The N -aryl-2-thiocyanatoacetamide acts as a dipolarophile while the nitrile oxide formed in situ from substituted N -hydroxybenzimidoyl chloride acts as the nucleophilic partner in a 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction mediated by triethylamine base in ethanol medium. The procedure affords excellent yields of desired products containing electron-withdrawing and electron-donating groups on the aromatic rings, in short reaction time with ease of operation. The procedure for the synthesis of scaffolds that are potentially valuable for their biological properties also offers the possibility of scale-up to higher quantities. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this study, we present a simple method for preparing a new series of thiazoles with excellent isolated yields. To synthesize the target thiazole scaffolds, a straightforward one‐pot procedure was developed including an amine‐mediated reaction of isoxazolethiazolidin‐4‐one derivative, thiosemicarbazide, and appropriate hydrazonyl chlorides. The reaction conditions for this one‐pot protocol were optimized by experimenting with different solvents and amines. The best results were achieved by conducting the reaction in dioxane with triethylamine at 100°C for 5 h. The structures of the desired products were proved by different elemental analyses and spectral data. Additionally, the antimicrobial efficacy of all target derivatives was assessed against various types of microorganisms. The results observed indicated that the antimicrobial activity of the thiosemicarbazone derivative 2 was the strongest activity among the new series, with MIC values ranging from 0.03 ± 0.01 to 0.98 ± 0.15 μg/mL. Moreover, antioxidant evaluations were conducted on all the desired targets, using ascorbic acid as a reference drug. Significantly, derivatives 2 and 10 demonstrated the most promising antioxidant inhibitory effects. In this work, we report the synthesis of a series of new 4H‐1,3,5‐oxadiazine derivatives. The method of their production is based on the dehydrosulfurization reaction of N‐(2,2,2‐trichloro‐1‐(3‐R‐thioureido)ethyl)carboxamides under the action of a mixture of iodine and triethylamine in DMF. A possible reaction mechanism has been proposed. The target products have been obtained in 58%–75% yield. The structure of the obtained compounds has been confirmed by 1H, 13C NMR, IR spectroscopy data, and x‐ray diffraction analysis carried out for 6‐(tert‐butyl)‐N‐phenyl‐4‐(trichloromethyl)‐4H‐1,3,5‐oxadiazin‐2‐amine. In the present work, the nitrogen doped carbon nanotubes (NCNTs) were prepared over various transition metal loaded mesoporous SBA-15 catalysts by the CVD method for supercapacitor application. Mesoporous Siliceous SBA-15 support and transition metals (Cr, Fe, Co, Ni and Cu) loaded SBA-15 (M/SBA-15) catalysts were prepared through hydrothermal and wet impregnation process, respectively. The catalytic performance of all the prepared catalysts were evaluated by synthesizing NCNTs by CVD at 800 °C using triethylamine as the precursor. The NCNTs produced over Ni/SBA-15 have an outstanding specific capacitance of 263 F g−1 at 0.5 A g−1 in 1.0 M H2SO4 aqueous solution according to the electrochemical investigations because of its increased nitrogen content of 3.2 at.%. Furthermore, a two-electrode based symmetric device was construct and tested. The fabricated device showed the specific capacitance of 113 F g−1 at 0.5 A g−1 with high energy density of 10 W h Kg−1 at the power density of 333 W kg−1. The NCNT showed 96 % of capacitance retention even after 1000 cycles. The synergism of high nitrogen content and bamboo-like graphitized structure resulted in excellent specific capacitance, better cycle life and rate performance of the prepared NCNTs as supercapacitor electrode. Detection and discrimination of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is important to provide a more realistic assessment of their potential implication in complex environments and medical diagnostics based on volatile biomarkers. Herein, chemiresistive sensors are fabricated using stacked MoS2 nanoflakes with defects and exposed‐edge sites. The sensor is found to be extremely selective to triethylamine (TEA) over polar, non‐polar VOCs and atmospheric gases. The sensor exhibits a sensitivity of 1.72% ppm−1, fast response/recovery (19 s/39 s) to 100 ppm TEA at room temperature, low limit of detection (64 ppb), device reproducibility, humidity tolerance (RH 90%) and stability tested up to 60 days. The kinetic analysis of sensing curves reveals two discrete adsorption sites corresponding to edge and basal sites of interaction, with a higher rate constant of association and dissociation for TEA. The Density Functional Theory (DFT) studies support higher adsorption energy of TEA on MoS2 surface with respect to other volatile amines. The sensor demonstrates TEA recognition and composition estimation capability in a binary mixture of a similar class of VOCs using Machine Learning driven analysis with 95% accuracy. For the on-line stable detection of TEA, mixed potential gas sensor based on GDC (gadolinium doped cerium oxide, Ce 0.8 Gd 0.2 O 1.95) solid electrolyte and MFe 2 O 4 (M = Ni, Cu, Zn) sensing electrode has been fabricated in this work. The influence of element type and sintering temperature of the sensing materials on the sensing performance were mainly discussed, the sensor manufactured with CuFe 2 O 4 sintered at 800 °C generates the highest response (−50.7 mV) to 20 ppm TEA compared with other sensors. The response value changed proportionally with the logarithm of TEA concentration, with the sensitivity of −21.9 and −43.6 mV/decade in the range of 0.5–5 and 5–100 ppm, respectively. The sensor exhibited excellent repeatability towards 2 and 10 ppm TEA for 7 continuous tests, and great selectivity for 10 various gases. Moreover, the sensor also demonstrated good moisture resistance and terrific long-term stability at 500 °C for 30 days continuous work. Based on the excellent sensing properties, this work supplied a stable TEA sensor fabricated with CuFe 2 O 4 sintered at 800 °C, which has a great potential application prospect for the accurate detection towards TEA. With triethylamine as a synthon, an alternative method for the synthesis of 3‐formyl imidazo[1,2‐a]pyridines has been accomplished from aldehydes, and 2‐aminopyridines. The reaction proceeded via iodine‐catalyzed C−N bond cleavage of triethylamine, generation of α,β‐unsaturated aldehyde in situ, and oxidative cyclization with air as the oxygen source. This protocol may facilitate the synthesis of imidazo[1,2‐a]pyridine derivatives and provide a reference for the usage of triethylamine as a synthon. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Bimetallic PtPd nanostructures were synthesized via a facile one-step coreduction method at room temperature and loaded on the In 2 O 3 nanoparticles (NPs) through self-assemblies. Among the PtPd-functionalized In 2 O 3 NPs with different PtPd alloy compositions, the sample with the Pt/Pd molar ratio of 3.0 exhibits the highest response value of 232.7 in the detection of 100 ppm triethylamine at 130 °C and a detection threshold as low as 5 ppm. Besides, the optimal working temperature was reduced by 30 °C and the selectivity coefficient under the interference of ammonia and some common VOCs elevated from 2.54 to 4.85 compared with the pristine counterpart. Eventually, the sensitization mechanism referring to the pristine In 2 O 3 and monometal-functionalized In 2 O 3 is explained by oxygen vacancy, the metal/metal oxide-semiconductor junctions and the synergistic catalytic effect of the PtPd nanostructure with the help of density functional theory simulations. We report a straightforward and efficient synthesis of 4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromen-7-yl benzenesulfonate (3a) and 8-iodo-4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromen-7-yl benzenesulfonate (3b) in good yields through an O-sulfonylation reaction of 7-hydroxy-2H-chromen-2-ones 1a and 1b with benzenesulfonyl chloride 2 mediated by triethylamine in dichloromethane at ambient temperature. Reducing the working temperature and increasing sensitivity and selectivity has always been a research hotspot in the field of MOS based gas sensors. In this work, improved triethylamine (TEA) sensing performance and mechanism of SnO2 by doping Pd have been investigated. SnO2 nanoparticles and Pd-SnO2 with different doping amounts of Pd (0%, 0.1%, 0.3%, 0.5%, and 0.7%) were successfully prepared by the hydrothermal method. The size of SnO2 nanoparticles is very uniform (∼15 nm). The SnO2 sensor exhibited the highest sensitivity to ethanol at 290 °C. After Pd doping, Pd/SnO2 sensors not only reduced the optimum working temperature but transformed selectivity from ethanol to TEA. In the Pd-SnO2 system, the 0.5Pd-SnO2 sensor exhibited high sensitivity (61), fast response-recovery properties (16 s/6 s) to 50 ppm TEA, lower detection limits (0.1 ppm), good repeatability, and higher selectivity. Furthermore, based on density functional theory calculations, the improved TEA sensing performance of 0.5Pd-SnO2 sensors can be attributed to the improved surface activity of SnO2 by Pd doping and the catalytic activation of O2 and TEA by Pd. To achieve the rapid and real-time detection of triethylamine (TEA) gas, this study synthesized a gas sensor based on heterostructures of Fe2O3/MoO3 using a hydrothermal method. Fe2O3/MoO3 composites with a narrow bandgap (1.1 eV) were successfully synthesized by constructing heterostructures. The rapid and efficient detection of triethylamine was achieved at 220 °C. The response and response/recovery times of the Fe2O3/MoO3 sensor with 50 × 10−6 triethylamine were 132 s and 5 s/10 s, respectively. The Fe2O3/MoO3 sensor maintained a good response to triethylamine gas, even at 80% relative humidity. The sensing mechanism of the Fe2O3/MoO3 sensor can be described in terms of adsorption energy and electronic behavior of the sensing layer using density functional theory (DFT). The results are consistent with the excellent selectivity and rapid response/recovery of the Fe2O3/MoO3 gas sensor for triethylamine. Therefore, the construction of heterostructures to facilitate electron transmission is an effective strategy to achieve rapid detection of triethylamine and is worthy of further exploration and investigation.

As an organic compound, it has significant application value. Triethylamine (TEA) is widely used in chemical, pharmaceutical, pesticide, dye, and other fields. However, its toxicity makes its impact on the environment and human health undeniable. Therefore, developing low-power, high response, ultraselectivity, and stability sensors for detecting this toxic gas is crucial for healthcare and environmental monitoring. In this work, we synthesized Ru-doped ZnO (Rux%ZnO) nanoparticles, which exhibited multiple enhanced sensing performance for TEA detection. Typically, the response value (Ra/Rg) of the Ru0.05%ZnO sensor to 50 ppm TEA at 260 °C is as high as 2907, which is nearly 15 times higher than pristine ZnO. In addition, compared with the ZnO sensor, the optimal operating temperature of the Ru0.05%ZnO sensor has also been reduced by 80 °C. Exceptionally, under the condition of a relative humidity of 85% (set at 25 °C), the Ra/Rg of the Ru0.05ZnO sensor to 10 ppm of TEA is still up to 126. Stimuli‐responsive materials based on π‐conjugated donor‐acceptor systems have great potential for sensing applications in solution and solid state. The photophysical properties of an oligo(p‐phenylenevinylene) series consisting of five push‐pull type molecules were systematically investigated to switch their absorption and emission properties by using trifluoroacetic acid as a specific external analyte. During the trifluoracetic acid sensing, the terminal pyridine units of the molecules undergo the protonation and lead to the broader absorption band at a longer wavelength region owing to the π‐π* characteristics of molecules. Upon exposing solid samples to the trifluoracetic acid vapors, the initial color of solid samples changed from yellow to orange for three‐ring system‐based molecules and brick red to wine red color for five‐ring system‐based molecules with the shifting of emission band to the longer wavelength region. Furthermore, exposing the trifluoracetic acid‐fumed solid samples to triethylamine vapors, the color of the solid samples reverted to their original colors and emission properties. The DFT analysis indicated a decreased energy band gap for the protonated molecules compared to the neutral molecules, suggesting a redshift in both the absorption and emission spectra of the protonated molecules. Triethylamine (TEA) is a typical volatile organic compound (VOC) widely present in air and water, produced in industrial production activities, with high toxicity and great harm. Fluorescence detection and resistive sensing are effective methods for detecting pollutants. Here, In-doped interpenetrating twin ZIF-8 and its annealed derivatives have been successfully designed and prepared as a multifunctional TEA sensor. On the one hand, ZIF-8-In exhibits excellent fluorescence emission enhancement at 450 nm in a dose-dependent manner to TEA in water within the concentration range of 1–100 ppm, with a detection limit as low as 1 ppm. On the other hand, the annealed ZIF-8-In derivative is ZnO/In2O3 with a porous hierarchical structure, which is a perfect sensitive material for manufacturing gas sensors. Within the concentration range of 1–100 ppm, the ZnO/In2O3 gas sensor has a high response for 100 ppm TEA, reaching 107.7 (Ra/Rg), and can detect TEA gas as low as 1 ppm. Furthermore, the response of ZnO/In2O3 sensors to TEA is at least 10 times that of the other four VOC gases, demonstrating excellent gas selectivity. Microspherical ZnO composites were prepared by introducing carbon dots (CDs) in situ by a one-step hydrothermal method. The effects of precursor and calcination treatments on the microstructure and morphology, compositional features and triethylamine (TEA) detection were carefully investigated. The results show that the addition of excess urea promotes the formation of CDs, the produced UC-ZnO composite presents microspheres with relatively smooth surface after calcination, and the retained CDs form heterojunctions with ZnO. TC-ZnO composite produced by adding excess trisodium citrate displays bowl-shaped depressions on the surface. After calcination, the porous structures with large specific surface area and carbon incorporation are achieved. The two composites show improved gas-sensitive response and reduced detection limit for TEA. The sensitivity for 100 ppm TEA at the optimal operating temperature of 350°C is 357 for UC-ZnO and 526 for TC-ZnO sensor, which are 21% and 80% higher than that of pure ZnO, respectively. The TC-ZnO sensor possesses an excellent low detection limit of 32 ppb. A series of 5-benzylidene-5H-[1,2,3]triazolo[5,1-b][1,3,4]thiadiazines were synthesized by the reaction of benzaldehyde 1,2,3-thiadiazol-5-ylhydrazones with a-bromo-4-chloroacetophenone and chloroacetone in the presence of triethylamine. The key steps of the reaction are the Dimroth rearrangement of the 1,2,3-thiadiazole ring, the formation of 6,7-dihydro-5H-[1,2,3]triazolo[5,1-b][1,3,4]thiadiazines, and the transformation of the thiadiazine ring giving 5-arylidene-5H-[1,2,3]triazolo[5,1-b][1,3,4]thiadiazines. It was demonstrated that 6,7-dihydro-5H-[1,2,3]triazolo[5,1-b][1,3,4]thiadiazines, which do not undergo the transformation in the presence of triethylamine, can be transformed into 5-arylidene-5H-[1,2,3]triazolo[5,1-b][1,3,4]thiadiazines using sodium hydroxide. The reaction is accompanied by the saponification of the ethoxycarbonyl substituent. A number of the synthesized compounds were tested for fungicidal activity against four strains of phytopathogenic fungi and the oomycete P. infestans. A new method for the intramolecular electrophilic ipso -cyclization of alkynes with triflic anhydride-activated sulfoxides, followed by demethylation with triethylamine in one pot, is described for the synthesis of 3-thiospiro[4.5]-decatrienones in moderate to good yields. Metal–ligand coordinated cross-linked polymer composites, have been recognized as promising candidates to address the shortcomings of conventional cross-linked composites. In this report, we present how the carboxylic functional group of carboxylated nitrile rubber (XNBR) is exploited to coordinate with ferric ions (Fe3+), resulting in a cross-linked rubber composite via a simple but efficient approach. FeCl3 content could be reached as high as 30 mmol, for a practically usable composite, by judiciously employing a tertiary aliphatic amine viz. triethylamine, TEA that is otherwise not possible. The development of metal–ligand assisted cross-links in the XNBR matrix is established by rheological and swelling studies. The cross-linking mechanism and ferric-carboxylate interaction are investigated by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). In this paper, a simple hydrothermal method was used to prepare pure SnWO 4 nanostructures and composite ZnO/SnWO 4 nanostructures. The micromorphology, combination method, specific surface area, pore size distribution and element distribution of SnWO4 and ZnO/SnWO 4 materials were tested through XRD, SEM, TEM, BET, XPS and other characterization methods. The results show that we successfully synthesized uniformly distributed SnWO4 nanosheets and ZnO/SnWO 4 nanospheres. Two samples were applied to gas sensing tests. Experiments have shown that SnWO 4 nanosheets with a hydrothermal time of 12 h have optimal gas-sensing properties. However, compared with pure SnWO 4 material, ZnO/SnWO 4 composite material shows better gas-sensing properties to triethylamine (increased from 18.58 to 118.54), faster response and recovery time (from 18 s to 11 s–13 s and 9 s), and the optimal temperature closer to room temperature (from 240 °C to 160 °C). In summary, the nanomaterials prepared in this article have great application potential in sensor applications and their future development, and this experiment also provides a convenient method to reduce the operating temperature of the sensor and improve the response value. In order to develop a sensitive, stable and cheap gas sensor for detection of triethylamine (TEA), the bimetal oxide of ZnFe 2 O 4 with α -Fe 2 O 3 heterojunctions with different proportions were synthesized and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) modified on heterojunctions by hydrothermal and chemical precipitation methods. The gas-sensing tests to TEA showed that the 6 α -Fe 2 O 3 /ZnFe 2 O 4 -rGO (0.8 wt%) composite has highest response reaches 10.48–20 ppm TEA with a rapid response time of 29 s, an impressively low detection limit of 0.145 ppm and reliable stability within 32 days at operating temperature of 143 °C. Compared with reported before, it has higher response at lower operating temperature and lower concentration of test gas. The enhancing mechanism is attributed to the formation of semiconductor heterojunction, which makes the resistance of composite in air further increase and further decrease in TEA compared with α -Fe 2 O 3 due to generating an additional electron depletion layer in the heterojunction interface, while rGO accelerates the electron transfer and provides more active sites for gas adsorption. A bimetal ternary oxide of ZnFe 2 O 4 is introduced to prepare the composite of 6 α -Fe 2 O 3 /ZnFe 2 O 4 -rGO (0.8 wt%) via low-cost chemical precipitation and hydrothermal methods. The novel composite has excellent gas sensing to TEA, which is due to the formation of heterojunctions and the modification of rGO. A Zn(II) coordination polymer (CP), namely, {[Zn(DTPB)]·DMF}n (H2DTPB = 1-(3,5-di(2H-tetrazol-5-yl)phenyl)-1H-benzeimidazole, Zn-DTPB), was assembled from a new tetrazolyl–benzimidazolyl heterotopic triangular ligand. In Zn-DTPB, the tetrazolyl groups connect the Zn(II) ions into a 2D network with a (4·82) topology, and the 2D network is further interconnected by Zn–N bonds between Zn(II) and benzimidazolyl groups to a 3D framework featuring a 4-connected sra topology. The DMF molecules were tightly encapsulated in the framework and could not be released until the framework decomposed. The framework is stable up to 300 °C and can be retained in water for 72 h. The luminescence in the solid-state and in various solvents was investigated, implying that Zn-DTPB can be used to detect acetone and triethylamine (TEA) in water by fluorescence quenching with good sensitivity and selectivity. Moreover, Zn-DTPB exhibited excellent reproducibility in sensing acetone. Mechanistic studies have shown that the fluorescence quenching of acetone and triethylamine is caused by competitive absorption and structural amorphization, respectively. Interestingly, the amorphous product can be transformed into Zn-DTPB crystals through a solvent-media structural transformation process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The interaction of chloroquine (CQ) with peptide-bonded-ethyl selenol and ethanethiol was experimentally and thermodynamically studied, indicating that CQ can bind to peptide-bonded active selenols through electrostatic interactions with a protonated triethylamine moiety, revealing a reasonable mechanism by which CQ inhibits thioredoxin reductase (TrxR) and significantly reduces oxidoreductase activity. In this work, the Co doped ZnO (CZO) hierarchical structures were synthesized via hydrothermal approach at 100 °C. The results of characterization illustrated that the products were assembled by large quantities of ultra-thin nanosheets with porous feature, the average crystallite size decreased from 20.27 nm to 16.98 nm with doping, and Co element existed uniformly in the hexagonal wurtzite ZnO lattice in the form of coexisting Co2+/Co3+ ions and did not appear as secondary phases. Triethylamine (TEA) sensing performance of the CZO sensor were investigated in the concentration range of 2–100 ppm, it possessed ameliorative and potential sensing characteristics, such as enhanced response value (24) doubled as compared to ZnO (12), higher selectivity coefficient (> 2.18), and shorter response and recovery time (7 s/44 s) in the case of 50 ppm TEA, and relatively well repeatability and stability no less than 40 days at 270 °C. To achieve the rapid and real-time detection of triethylamine (TEA) gas, this study synthesized a gas sensor based on heterostructures of Fe2O3/MoO3 using a hydrothermal method. Fe2O3/MoO3 composites with a narrow bandgap (1.1 eV) were successfully synthesized by constructing heterostructures. The rapid and efficient detection of triethylamine was achieved at 220 °C. The response and response/recovery times of the Fe2O3/MoO3 sensor with 50 x 10-6 triethylamine were 132s and 5s/10s, respectively. The Fe2O3/MoO3 sensor maintained a good response to triethylamine gas, even at 80% relative humidity. The sensing mechanism of the Fe2O3/MoO3 sensor can be described in terms of adsorption energy and electronic behavior of the sensing layer using density functional theory (DFT). The results are consistent with the excellent selectivity and rapid response/recovery of the Fe2O3/MoO3 gas sensor for triethylamine. Therefore, the construction of heterostructures to facilitate electron transmission is an effective strategy to achieve rapid detection of triethylamine and is worthy of further exploration and investigation. The ring‐expansion of arylthiiranes and phenoxyacetyl chloride was performed in the presence of triethylamine and provided a novel strategy for the synthesis of 4,5‐dihydrobenzo[d]thiepin‐2(1H)‐ones, benzo[d]‐ϵ‐thiolactones, directly without catalysts or additives. Its linear free energy analysis was conducted on the basis of competitive experiments. The results indicate that both reaction constants are close to zero (0.14 for σm and 0.20 for σp), supporting the proposed sulfur‐shifted ene mechanism. Photoinduced single‐electron reduction is an efficient method for the mono‐selective activation of the C−F bond on a trifluoromethyl group to construct a difluoroalkyl group. We have developed an electron‐donor‐acceptor (EDA) complex mediated single‐electron transfer (EDA‐SET) of α,α,α‐trifluoromethyl arenes in the presence of lithium salt to give α,α‐difluoroalkylarenes. The C−F bond reduction was realized by lithium iodide and triethylamine, two common feedstock reagents. Mechanistic studies revealed the generation of a α,α‐difluoromethyl radical by single‐electron reduction and defluorination, followed by the radical addition to alkenes. Lithium salt interacted with the fluorine atom to promote the photoinduced reduction mediated by the EDA complex. Computational studies indicated that the lithium‐assisted defluorination and the single‐electron reduction occurred concertedly. We call this phenomenon fluoride‐coupled electron transfer (FCET). An innovative green procedure has been devised to prepare derivatives of 1,4‐dihydropyridine (1,4‐DHP). This method works with a catalyst process using ethanol as solvent under microwave irradiation conditions, enabling swift reactions (<30 min) with impressive yields (90%–96%). It contributes to an environmentally friendly and easily executable process by using the energy efficiency method. Epoxy acrylate is produced by esterifying epoxy resin and acrylic acid through a ring-opening reaction. This process is highly exothermic and can be challenging to control gel formation. The thermal hazards of epoxy acrylate preparation were evaluated in this study by investigating the ring-opening esterification reaction between acrylic acid (AA) and bisphenol A epoxy resin (E-51) catalyzed by triethylamine (TEA). The heat release during the reaction process was analyzed using a reaction calorimeter (RC1mx) to simulate industrial conditions. Increasing the TEA catalyst content from 0.3 to 1.0 mass% resulted in a significant rise in reaction conversion from 75.35 ± 0.10% to 98.44 ± 0.10%. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and accelerating rate calorimeter (ARC) were used to examine the thermal runaway process during epoxy acrylate synthesis. Increasing the TEA content from 0.3 to 1.0 mass% decreased the initial reaction temperature from 60.16 ± 0.62 to 45.33 ± 0.40 °C and the critical temperature of side reactions from 153.71 ± 1.51 to 117.85 ± 1.19 °C. The severity of the runaway was classified as medium at process temperatures of 80–110 °C. This study highlights the importance of considering reaction conditions to prevent uncontrolled reactions during epoxy acrylate synthesis, providing valuable insights for industrial epoxy acrylate preparation. In this study, the combination of octahedral Zn 2 SnO 4 with the carbon quantum dots (CQDs) is pioneered for the efficient detection of triethylamine. CQDs-modified Zn 2 SnO 4 materials were synthesized to perform rapid detection of trace triethylamine present in air. In the gas test, the optimal composite's response value to triethylamine is 600% higher than the value of the original Zn 2 SnO 4 to triethylamine, and the tendency of selective to triethylamine is more than ten times than other kinds of gases and possesses a short response/recovery times of 18 s/29 s. The exceptional properties of the composite are attributed to the superb electron transport capacity brought by the modification of 5 nm carbon quantum dots. Real-time monitoring of triethylamine (TEA) is critical to environmental safety and daily life. However, detailed challenges remain for TEA gas sensors, such as low-cost and facile synthetic methods, and low working temperatures. In this study, a combination of hydrothermal and wet chemical approaches is utilized for the rational construction of α -MoO 3 @WO 3 with a sheet-like nanostructure. Additionally, the sensing performances towards triethylamine are investigated. According to the results, it was found that the α -MoO 3 @WO 3 sensor has a higher response value (80.4) and faster response and recovery times (9/26 s) than those of pristine MoO 3 at low optimum temperature (200 °C). Again, the α -MoO 3 @WO 3 based sensor also demonstrated high selectivity to TEA as well as good stability. The enhancement of the MoO 3 @WO 3 sensor's gas-sensitive mechanism may be attributed to the formation of n-n heterojunction between MoO 3 and WO 3 and the synergistic effect of both. Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs) are organic‐inorganic hybrid materials with exceptionally customizable composition and properties. MOFs intrinsically possess open metal sites, tunable pore size/shape and an ultra‐large specific surface area, and have obtained significant attention over the past 30 years. Furthermore, through the integration of functional moieties such as, molecules, functional groups, noble metal clusters and nanocrystals or nanoparticles into MOFs, the resulting composites have greatly enriched the physical and chemical properties of pure MOFs, enabling their application in a wider range of fields. Triethylamine (TEA) as an organic base has consistently played a fundamental role in the development of MOFs. In this Concept, the versatility of triethylamine when involved in the synthesis of MOFs is discussed. Four sections are used to elaborate on the role of TEA including: (1) Single crystal synthesis; (2) Size and morphology control; (3) Counterion of MOFs; (4) MOFs composites synthesis. Carbazole‐incorporated smaragdyrin BF2‐complex 3 was synthesized by SNAr reaction of 3,5‐dibromo‐8‐mesityl‐BODIPY 1 with 3,6‐di(tert‐butyl)‐1,8‐di(pyrrol‐2‐yl)carbazole 2 as a nucleophile. Demetalation of 3 with ZrCl4 gave the corresponding smaragdyrin free base 4 in a good yield. Oxidations of 3 and 4 with MnO2 gave smaragdyrins 5 and 6, respectively, both followed by aromaticity switching, since the oxidized products showed a moderate paratropic ring current owing to their 20π‐electronic circuits. MXenes with excellent conductivity and abundant surface functional groups have displayed great advantages as platforms for sensing materials. NiO also has drawn much attention for gas detection due to its unique merits of excellent catalytic activity. Herein, NiO nanoparticles are incorporated with multilayer Ti3C2Tx-MXene to develop excellent triethylamine sensors. Due to the larger specific surface area and formed p–p heterojunctions, the response of the NiO/Ti3C2Tx gas sensor is endowed with a response value of 950% to 50 ppm triethylamine gas and is much higher than that of the pristine NiO sensor. Moreover, the NiO/Ti3C2Tx sensor displays a fast response time of 8 s (50 ppm triethylamine), excellent reproducibility, and reliable long-term stability. In the development of biosimilar products to Neulasta, it is essential to determine the intact molecular mass and confirm precise PEGylation sites. In this study, we applied a combination of techniques, including post‐column addition of triethylamine in reversed‐phase liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (RPLC‐MS) to determine the intact molecular mass, and in‐source fragmentation (ISF) and higher‐energy collision dissociation–tandem mass spectrometry (HCD‐MS/MS) to identify the PEGylation site. Our results show that both the pegfilgrastim biosimilar candidate and Neulasta lots are mono‐PEGylated at the N‐terminal end. Furthermore, we show that the combined ISF and HCD‐MS/MS method can be used for identifying the PEGylation sites in the diPEGylated variant of pegfilgrastim. This study synthesizes Ni-doped perovskite-structured LaFeO3 composite materials via a one-step hydrothermal method, characterizes the morphology and structure of the materials, and tests their gas sensing performance. The test results show that compared to pure LaFeO3 material, the gas sensing performance of Ni-doped LaFeO3 material is improved in all aspects. Specifically, LFO-Ni2% exhibits a response as high as 102 towards 100 ppm of triethylamine at 190 °C, along with better selectivity and stability. Furthermore, the gas sensing mechanism is investigated. On one hand, doping with an appropriate proportion of Ni can lead to the formation of more-complete and smaller-sized microsphere structures with pores. This is beneficial for the adsorption of oxygen from the air onto the material surface, as well as for the diffusion of the target gas to the surface of the material, thereby enhancing gas sensitivity performance. On the other hand, the doped Ni enters the interior of the LaFeO3 crystal, replacing some of the cations in LaFeO3, increasing the concentration of charge carriers in the material, and reducing the material's resistance. The sample can adsorb more oxygen, promoting the reaction between adsorbed oxygen and the target gas, and thereby improving the gas sensitivity performance of the sample. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The layered structure and atomic thinness of transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) semiconductors make them attractive for various applications. By precise control of the morphology of these materials on the nanoscale, the material can be engineered for specific functional device applications. The present study represents a systematic growth procedure, wherein a space-confined chemical vapor deposition (CVD) route allowed us to synthesize vertically oriented molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) nanosheets with high phase selectivity. While achieving control over the growth of vertical MoS2 (V–MoS2) within a single growth run has many challenges, we demonstrate vertical growth of MoO2 and its subsequent transformation to either a MoO2/MoS2 core–shell structure or vertical MoS2 nanosheets on a SiO2/Si substrate, by modulating the sulfur concentration during the growth process. As a morphologically rich structure, the edge-enhanced MoS2 flower-like structure offered high selectivity toward triethylamine (TEA) sensing over many other volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) studied. The VOC sensing study showed ultrahigh selectivity and sensitivity (9.35 ± 1.20) × 10–4 ppm–1 toward TEA under ultraviolet light exposure. The vertical MoS2 nanosheets with enhanced hydrophobic property showed excellent ambient stability, suggesting its potential for the development of sensors for room-temperature triethylamine detection at the ppm level. In this research, the steric effect of an exfoliation agent between n‐ethylamine and triethylamine for the fabrication of Ca2Nb3O10− nanosheet was investigated. The experimental results revealed that the different structures of the exfoliation agent have affected to fabrication of Ca2Nb3O10− nanosheet. The use of n‐ethylamine as an exfoliation agent gave a maximum exfoliation efficiency of 10 wt.% while the maximum exfoliation efficiency of triethylamine was 90 wt.%. The result showed that the difference in exfoliation efficiency was caused by the steric effect of exfoliation agents. The image of transmission electron microscopy exhibited Ca2Nb3O10− nanosheets which were formed by exfoliation of HCa2Nb3O10. Furthermore, the reaction time for liquid exfoliation was studied in this work. The reaction time at 4 h gave a maximum of exfoliation efficiency. The Ca2Nb3O10− suspension was tested capability to remove hazardous ions. After the experiment, we found the white precipitate which was the formation of CsCa2Nb3O10. Pt-loaded curling-like Bi 2 WO 6 (BWO) microdiscs were fabricated via a simple one-step hydrothermal and impregnation route. Various characterization methods, such as XRD, EDS and TEM, were conducted to prove the successful Pt loading. Electron migration from the semiconductor BWO to the precious metal Pt was revealed by the blue shift of the Bi 4f and W 4f XPS peaks with the increase of the Pt loading amount and the ∼10-fold baseline resistance elevation of the BWO-based sensor by the Pt loading, proving the formation of Schottky junction. Among the pristine BWO and Pt-loaded BWO with different Pt loading amounts, 1 wt % Pt-loaded BWO exhibits the highest gas response of 209 in sensing 500 ppm triethylamine at 300 °C, a minimal selectivity coefficient of 130.6 against some typical interfering gases at the same concentration and a low detection threshold of 1 ppm. The impact of humidity on the efficiency of gas sensors has become highlighted in the realm of gas detection. Due to the complex relationship between humidity and gas sensor performance, the development of gas sensors has recently focused on minimizing humidity-related interference. This research aims to address humidity-related challenges in zinc oxide (ZnO) gas sensors designed to detect triethylamine. The ZnO nanostructures (NSs) were synthesized using thermal decomposition methods at varying temperatures (380 °C, 480 °C, and 580 °C) and annealing times (3 h, 7 h, 12 h, and 21 h). X-ray diffraction (XRD) confirmed the formation of a wurtzite hexagonal close-packed structure in ZnO NSs. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images provided insights into the morphologies of ZnO NSs at different annealing temperatures, while energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) demonstrated the elemental distribution. Subsequently, gold (Au) nanoparticles were uniformly sputtered onto ZnO sensors with thickness variations (0.1 nm, 0.6 nm, 1 nm, 5 nm, and 10 nm). XPS was employed to analyse the elemental composition and oxygen vacancies of the synthesized sensing materials. The effectiveness of 0.6 nm-thick Au nanoparticles in mitigating humidity effects was observed in ZnO sensors synthesized at 380 °C. The results indicated that ZnO sensors coated with 0.6 nm-thick Au nanoparticles exhibited highly stable responses to ethanol and triethylamine at different humidity levels from 50 % to 90 %. Notably, these sensors demonstrated promising selectivity towards triethylamine (with a response of 17.57) compared to various gas targets at room temperature. The sensor exhibited rapid response and recovery times of 9.8 s and 4.4 s, respectively, toward triethylamine with excellent stability in variable humid environments. The sensor maintained a consistent response over 24 days, demonstrating good stability at high humidity.

In this work, hollow spherical Pt-loaded WO3/ZnO heterostructured composites were prepared by a chemical liquid phase synthesis method. The morphology, crystal structure and components of the composites were characterized by SEM, TEM, XRD, XPS, etc. The sensing performance for various gases was also tested. Compared with the pristine WO3 (S = 44@225 °C, 50 ppm) gas sensor, the gas sensor that is functionalized with 1 wt% Pt and 0.5 mmol ZnO (1Pt/WZ-2) has a high response of 842–50 ppm at a relatively low temperature of 100 °C for TEA, with a quick response/recovery time of 34/120 s, a lower detection limit of 50 ppb, and good selectivity and moisture resistance. Triethylamine poses significant risks to human health, making it crucial to develop a triethylamine gas sensor with excellent performance for triethylamine detection. In this study, NiTiO 3 -modified In 2 O 3 (NiTiO 3 –In 2 O 3) materials with different ratios were prepared using a hydrothermal method. Among them, the 1 % NiTiO 3 –In 2 O 3 material exhibited the best performance. The gas sensor showed high sensitivity (361) towards 100 ppm triethylamine gas at 250 °C, excellent selectivity, and a low detection limit (30 ppb). The crystal phases, elemental composition, and microstructure of the prepared compounds were observed using SEM, EDS, TEM, and XRD. Based on the characterization results, a detailed analysis of the gas sensing mechanism was conducted. The significant improvement in the sensing performance towards triethylamine can be ascribed to the alterations in surface characteristics and electron behavior induced by heterojunction formation, the catalytic efficacy of NiTiO 3 , and the cooperative interaction between these two constituents. Herein, based on NiCo 2 O 4 octahedral nanocrystals with high-energy {1 1 1} crystal facets as substrate, Fe 2 O 3 nanorods with {0 0 1} crystal facets were decorated to obtain a facet-specific NiCo 2 O 4 /Fe 2 O 3 p-n heterojunction. The p-n heterojunction showed promising triethylamine sensing properties with a high response of 70 (R a /R g , 100 ppm) at 300 °C, which was about 57 and 10 times higher than that of pristine NiCo 2 O 4 and Fe 2 O 3 , respectively. Theoretical calculation suggested that the electronic coupling effect formed by d-orbitals of Co-Fe in heterojunction strengthened the influence on the orbitals of N site in triethylamine, which improved the triethylamine adsorption and interface charge transfer. The results indicate that crystal facets designing of NiCo 2 O 4 and Fe 2 O 3 can achieve synergistic optimization of surface/interface characteristics of p-n heterojunction, thereby achieving a comprehensive improvement in gas sensing performance.
