Jules Verne, one of the most visionary writers of his time and even the human history, put technology at the center of his literary universe and wrote novels in which he predicted the progress of humanity on the line of civilization centuries ago. However, his early works, his hopeful discourses on the human civilization’s development shifted to a more pessimistic and anxious direction in the face of the developing technology in his works after the 1880s. In this study, Jules Verne's early novels From the Earth to the Moon (1865) and Around the Moon (1869) and technology discourses in his late novel The Purchase of the North Pole or Topsy-Turvy (1889), which is the third and last novel of the series, are discussed comparatively within the framework of the two interrelated and contemporary concepts, transhumanism and posthumanism. Even though these concepts were suggested approximately 100 years after Jules Verne's active years, this study claims that they overlap with the technology discourses contained in his works. It reveals that his early works prioritize a human-centered technological progress along a transhumanist line. On the other hand, this study also insists on the fact that in his late works where he remained on a posthumanist axis, in other words, produced a new technological discourse in which he criticizes the Anthropocene era putting mankind in the center and evaluates other beings in the background, and conveys his concerns arising from hierarchies between living and non-living, nature-culture and races. As a result of the comparison, this transformation of Jules Verne's technology discourse over time has been tried to be examined in the context of similarities and differences between transhumanist and posthumanist discourses., Döneminin, hatta insanlık tarihinin en vizyoner yazarlarından biri olan Jules Verne, yazın evreninin merkezine teknolojiyi koyarak insanlığın uygarlık çizgisindeki ilerleyişini yüzyıllar öncesinden öngördüğü yapıtlar üretmiştir. Ancak yazarlığının ilk yıllarında insanlığın gelişmesine yönelik umutlu söylemleri, 1880’li yıllardan sonra verdiği yapıtlarında gelişen teknoloji karşısında daha karamsar ve endişeli bir yöne kaymıştır. Çalışmada Jules Verne’in Ay’a Yolculuk (1865) ve Ayın Çevresinde Seyahat (1869) başlıklı erken dönem yapıtları ile serinin üçüncü ve son romanı olan Ne Altı Var Ne Üstü (1889) başlıklı geç dönem yapıtındaki teknoloji söylemleri, çağdaş ve birbiriyle ilintili olan transhümanizm ve posthümanizm kavramları çerçevesinde karşılaştırmalı olarak ele alınmıştır. Bu kavramların, Jules Verne’in yaşadığı dönemden yaklaşık 100 yıl sonra üretilmiş olsalar bile, yapıtların içerdiği teknoloji söylemleri ile örtüştükleri görülmüştür. Erken dönem yapıtlarının transhümanist bir çizgide, yani insan merkezli bir teknolojik ilerleyişi öncelediği anlaşılmıştır. Buna karşın geç dönem yapıtlarında posthümanist bir çizgide kaldığı, başka bir deyişle insanın kendini merkeze koyduğu ve diğer varlıkları geri planda değerlendirdiği antroposen çağını eleştirdiği ve canlı-cansız, doğa-kültür ve ırklar arası hiyerarşilerden doğan endişelerini aktardığı yeni bir teknolojik söylem ürettiği gözlemlenmiştir. Yapılan karşılaştırma sonucu Jules Verne’in teknoloji söyleminin zaman içerisindeki bu dönüşümü, transhümanist ve posthümanist söylemler arasındaki benzerlik ve farklılıklar bağlamında irdelenmeye çalışılmıştır.

Yunan filozof Empedokles bir doğa düşünürü olmasının yanında ölümü de sorunsallaştırır. Ölümü bir yok oluş olarak görmeyi reddeder, onun yalnızca bir canlıyı birleştiren parçaların ayrışması olduğunu söyler, hatta hekimlerin ölüme terk ettiği insanlara yeniden hayat verdiği söylenir. Bu bağlamda Amin Maalouf’un Empedokles’in Dostları adlı distopik bilimkurgu yapıtını Empedokles figürünün üzerine kurması tesadüf değildir. Empedokles’in teknolojiyi kullanma biçiminden etkilenen Maalouf bu romanında insanlığın savaş ve ölüm kavramlarına olan bakışını ileri teknoloji karşısında konumlandırarak irdeler. Bu noktadan yola çıkarak dünyadaki güç dengesizliğine değinerek savaşsız yeni bir dünya düzeni hayal eder. Maalouf’un bu vizyonu ise posthümanizm düşüncesinde karşılık bulur. Posthümanizm geniş kapsamlı bir kavram olsa da genel hatlarıyla insanı, doğayı ve inorganik maddeleri yatay bir ontolojide, herhangi bir hiyerarşik düzenden bağımsız olarak ele almayı önerir. Bu bakış açısına göre doğa-kültür, insan-hayvan, organik-inorganik gibi pek çok ikili karşıtlık önemini kaybeder. Aynı durum insan-teknoloji ilişkisi için de geçerlidir. İnsanlığın sınırlarının nerede başlayıp teknolojininkilerin nerede bittiği belirsizleşir, diğer bir deyişle insan ve teknoloji, ayrışması imkânsız bir ikilik ve dolaşıklık durumuna gelir. Aynı şekilde Maalouf romanında insanlığa, teknoloji için ve teknoloji aracılığıyla savaşmak yerine teknolojiyle bütünlük içinde, diğer canlılar ve kendi türü içerisinde eşitlikçi bir tutum sergilemeyi önerir. Bu durumda çalışmada Empedokles’in Dostları romanı insan, teknoloji ve ölüm kavramları çevresinde posthümanist perspektiften ele alınmaktadır; yöntem olarak ise edimbilim ve söylem çözümlemesi yaklaşımlarından yararlanılmaktadır., In addition to being a Greek natural philosopher, Empedocles problematizes the notion of death as well. He refuses to approach death as a form of extinction, and takes it as the simple disintegration of the parts composing a living being; it is even known that he used to reanimate the individuals the doctors left to die. Hence, it is apparently no coincidence that Amin Maalouf bases his dystopian science fiction novel Our Unexpected Brothers on the figure of Empedocles. Inspired by the way Empedocles uses technology, Maalouf questions humanity’s approach to war, disaster and death, discussing them within the context of advanced technology. Departing from here, he touches upon the notion of power inequality, imagining a new, warless world order instead. His vision, on the other hand, finds its reflection in posthumanist thought. Although posthumanism has a broad conceptual scope, in general terms it approaches human beings, nature and inorganic materials in a horizontal ontology independent from a hierarchical order. In this view, many dichotomies such as nature-culture, human-animal, organic-inorganic become irrelevant, and the same holds for the human-technology relationship. It is no longer clear where humanity’s boundaries end and where those of technology begin, i.e. man and technology become inseparably enmeshed. Similarly, Maalouf invites humanity to adopt an egalitarian attitude towards all the other species and its own, and to live in harmony with technology instead of using it to fight each other and in its name. This study approaches the novel Our Unexpected Brothers from a posthumanist perspective, discussing it within the framework of concepts such as human, technology and death; it uses as its methodology the approaches offered by pragmatics and discourse analysis.

Ataerkil düzenin ilk kurbanı, yüzyıllar boyunca erkekten daha az insan kabul edilen kadından başkası değildir. Bu anlamda son elli yıldır batılı beyaz erkekinsanı ayrıcalıklı yerinden kaldırarak onu ne beyaz ne Batılı olan insanların ve insan olmayanların karşısında yeniden konumlandırmayı amaçlayan yeni bir varoluşsal hareket, felsefi düzlemde yerini almaktadır. Felsefi posthümanizm adı verilen bu olgu, insanı, ataerkil ayrıcalığın dışında kalan insanlarla ve insan olmayanlarla beraber bir arada bulunduğu evrenle uyum içerisinde yeniden ele almayı önerir. Yazınsal düzlemde Gérard Genette'in anametinsellik (fr. hypertextualité) kuramını yöntem, Rosi Braidotti'nin felsefi posthümanizmini kuramsal çerçeve olarak ele alan bu çalışma, kadının yazınsal alanda nasıl yeniden konumlandırıldığını anlamayı amaçlamaktadır. Bu bağlamda, Sofokles’in Kral Ödipus [Œdipe Roi] mitinin, fransız yazar Hélène Cixous tarafından Oidipus’un annesi İokaste’nin gözünden anlatıldığı ‘yenidenyazımı’ olan Le Nom d’Œdipe [Ödipus’un Adı] adlı esere başvuracağız. Bu eseriyle Cixous’nun yalnızca ‘kadın yazını’ estetiğini vurgulamakla kalmadığını, aynı zamanda toplumsal imgelemimizdeki ataerkil geleneğin açık bir temsili olan Ödipus mitini yazınsal düzlemde yeniden konumlandırdığının altını çizeceğiz. Sonuç olarak kadın yazını açısından miti yeniden konumlandıran anametinsel bağlantıların onu günümüz posthümanizmi bağlamında hayatta tuttuğunu göreceğiz., For centuries, women, being the first victim of the patriarchal tradition have been perceived as “less human” than men. Yet, for the last fifty years or so, civil movements that attempt to reposition “male” human being in an existential framework have sprung up. In the meantime, a new existential orientation has also been unfolded: a tendency that is conscious of the privilege of the white westerner in relation to human beings who are neither white nor westerner, and aiming at repositioning his status. This new tendency, called philosophical posthumanism, offers a new approach by considering human being in full entente with the Universe where he finds himself with other human beings outside the patriarchal privilege that he engages with. Having Gérard Genette’s theory of hypertextuality as the methodological framework, as well as taking into account Rosi Braidotti’s philosophical posthumanism as a theoretical outline, we will attempt to see how women are repositioned in literary territory. In this context, we will resort to Hélène Cixous’s rewriting of the sophoclean myth Oedipe Roi [Kral Oidipus], which adopts the perspective of Oedipe’s mother Jocasta. In her Le Nom d’Oedipe, Cixous does not only promote the aesthetic of the feminine writing, but also relocates a myth, which is indisputably a representation of the patriarchal tradition in the collective imagination. We will see, finally, that the hypertextual ties that reinstate and feminize the myth vitalize it today in the context of posthumanist thought., La première victime de la tradition patriarcale n’étant autre que la femme a été considérée comme ‘moins humain’ que l’homme pendant des siècles. Cependant, depuis une cinquantaine d’années s’émergent des mouvements essayant de repositionner l’être-humain ‘mâle’ dans le cadre existentiel. Entre-temps, germait une nouvelle tendance existentielle, consciente de la place privilégiée de l’homme blanc occidental par rapport aux êtres humains n’étant ni blancs ni occidentaux et par rapport aux êtres non-humains et visant à repositionner cette place. Cette tendance intitulée le posthumanisme philosophique propose de reconsidérer l’être-humain en pleine harmonie avec l'univers où il se trouve avec les êtres-humains restés hors du privilège patriarcal avec lesquels il noue des rapports. Ayant la théorie de l’hypertextualité de Gérard Genette en tant que méthodologie, ainsi que considérant le posthumanisme philosophique de Rosi Braidotti comme cadre théorique, nous essayerons de voir la manière dont on repositionne la femme sur le territoire littéraire. Dans ce cadre, nous aurons recours à la réécriture du mythe sophocléen d’Œdipe Roi par Hélène Cixous, qui adopte le point de vue de la mère d’Œdipe, Jocaste. Dans Le Nom D’Œdipe où l’auteure donne la parole à la mère d’Œdipe, Cixous fait non seulement la promotion d’une esthétique d’écriture féminine, mais elle repositionne également le mythe qui représente indiscutablement la tradition patriarcale dans l’imaginaire collectif. Nous verrons, enfin, que les liens hypertextuels qui resituent et féminisent le mythe le font vivre dans le contexte de la pensée posthumaniste de nos jours.

Bu çalışma, Pascal Quignard'ın Dünyanın Tüm Sabahları ve Müzik Dersi adlı iki yapıtını, müzik ve edebiyat ilişkisi bağlamında ele almaktadır. Çalışmada Frédéric Sounac'ın 'Müzikal Model ve Roman Düzeni` adlı eserinde ve eserde aynı adla yer alan teorisinde ortaya koyduğu üç ana yönteme atıfta bulunulmuştur: Sounac'a göre müzik edebi bir eserde tematik, sessel ve şekilsel müdahalelerde bulunabilir. Çalışmanın ilk bölümü, müziğin edebiyatın etki alanına nasıl girebileceğini çeşitli teoriler aracılığıyla ortaya koymaya çalışmıştır. İkinci bölümde Dünyanın Tüm Sabahları adlı romanda Sounac'ın ortaya koyduğu müzik, tematik, sessel ve şekilsel düzlemlerde 'roman kişisi' üzerinden incelenirken, üçüncü bölümde Müzik Dersi adlı eserde müziğin edebiyat düzlemine müdahalesi `fragmanter –parçalı- yazım tekniği` aracılığıyla ele alınmıştır. This study opts for a musico-literary reading in two works by Pascal Quignard, All The World's Mornings and The Music Lesson. It reveals how music can enter into the field of literature in the selected works by making use of the Frédéric Sounac's 'Musical Model and Romanesque Composition` method in his identical named work. The first chapter of our study establishes the musical inclusion in the literary work through the logogenic, melogenic and meloformal processes. The second chapter intends for the musico-literary reading of All The World's Mornings through the 'character' notion while the third part is given to the same process for The Music Lesson through the `fragmentary writing technique`. 113
