The study analyzes the recognition process in the examination of the texture of fine particles through tactile sensing with human fingers, and aims at establishing the structure of texture recognition. It investigates the effects of the physical attributes of the particles on the recognition and prepares the foundation for developing sensor devices which implement human tactile sensing. The authors found 1) that there is a clear relationship between the physical attributes and subjects' verbal response, and 2) that there is a threshold at which the subjects switch from feeling particles as separate, individual bodies over to associating them with a fluidlike character. The authors also established 3) correspondences between the diameters of the particles and the terms expressed by the subjects.

高速液体クロマトグラフィー (HPLC) を用いた配合飼料中のビタミンA定量を迅速, 正確に行なうために, 分析法の検討を行なった.充填剤はLiChrosorb SI-100を用い, 溶媒は, n-hexane/dichloromethane/ethano1=90/9/1を用いた.HPLCによる分析時間は, 約20分であった.検出は蛍光 (Ex 340nm, Em460nm) で行なった.定量の際, ビタミンAにかわる標準物質として, アントラセンを用いた。定量限界は20μg/kgであり, 回収率は99±2%であった.配合飼料を分析した結果, 乳牛用で378μg/kg, 豚用で1330-2560μg/kg, 鶏用で608-2570μg/kgであった.

The effects of β-carotene and vitamin A on progesterone production by cultured granulosa cells of cows were studied. The granulosa cells were isolated from medium-sized follicles (8-10mm) by the needle aspiration. A balloon-borne infrared telescope cooled by liquid nitrogen is described. The telescope was equipped with a CdHgTe detector, a spherical mirror of 23 cm diameter, a baffle system and a liquid nitrogen container made of polyurethane foam. The telescope was successfully launched on Oct. 2, 1973. On-board information showed that the cryogenic system functioned properly and the atmospheric thermal omission of CO2 was detected in the wavelength range λ\gtrsim12µm. The telescope of this type is found useful for infrared astronomy and aeronomy.

Near Infrared airglow was observed in the altitude range 80-210km at a mid latitude (30°N) in the wavelength region between 2μm and 5μm. Two airglow components were found. One component is strong in the broad wavelength range at altitudes lower than 100km, which is considered to be due to OH Meinel bands, whereas the other component was detected in the altitude range higher than 110km. The intensity of the latter is too strong to be interpreted in terms of a current model of the thermosphere. If this is attributed to the 2.8μm band (Δν=2) of NO, the density profile of excited nitrogen atoms N(2D) can be derived from the reaction N(2D)+O2→NO+O. The absolute density thus derived is considerably higher than that obtained from NI (5, 200A) airglow and that based on a thermospheric model.

Although it is considered that vitamin B12 and its analogues are not contained in vegetable foods as are they often called “Animal Protein Factor”, it was found that vitamin B12 group was contained in such vegetables grown in the mud as arrow head (Sagittaria sagittifolia L. var. sinensis Makino), Lotus-rhizome (Rhizome of Nelumbo nucifera), Brasenia schreberi, and also in bamboo sprout grown in the soil, but these amounts were not so much.

1) TLCによるシイタケ中のエルゴステロールの定量法を定め, 吸着剤KieselgelGを用い, 展開剤はベンゼン・アセトン・クロロホルム (10: 1: 1) で回収率は99.4±6.2%で定量条件に適した。2) エルゴステロールの比色定量法において呈色条件, 検量線, 呈色後の安定性を検討した結果, 硫酸と酢酸の比が3: 1にしたものを呈色試薬とし, 20分後472mμで測定する条件を得て, 300μgまでが定量範囲であった。3) シイタケ中のエルゴステロールの分布は菌褶部が多く, ついで菌柄部, 菌傘部の順で生試料1g当りの含量はそれぞれ633, 524, 433μgであった。
