The bank run phenomenon, mostly due to rumor spread about the financial health of given financial institutions, is prejudicious to the stability of financial systems. In this paper, by using the epidemiological approach, we propose a nonlinear model for describing the impact of rumor on the banking crisis spread. We establish conditions under which the crisis dies out or remains permanent. We also solve an optimal control problem focusing on the minimization, at the lowest cost, of the number of stressed banks, as well as the number of banks undergoing the restructuring process. Numerical simulations are performed to illustrate theoretical results obtained.

Sequential pattern mining is an important data mining problem widely addressed by the data mining community, with a very large field of applications. The sequence pattern mining aims at extracting a set of attributes, shared across time among a large number of objects in a given database. The work presented in this paper is directed towards the general theoretical foundations of the pattern-growth approach. It helps indepth understanding of the pattern-growth approach, current status of provided solutions, and direction of research in this area. In this paper, this study is carried out on a particular class of pattern-growth algorithms for which patterns are grown by making grow either the current pattern prefix or the current pattern suffix from the same position at each growth-step. This study leads to a new algorithm called prefixSuffixSpan. Its correctness is proven and experimentations are performed.

We investigate a stochastic coupled model of the Cahn–Hilliard equations and the stochastic magnetohydrodynamic equations in a bounded domain of ℝ 2 {\mathbb{R}^{2}} . The model describes the flow of the mixture of two incompressible and immiscible fluids under the influence of an electromagnetic field with stochastic perturbations. We prove the existence, uniqueness and regularity of a probabilistic strong solution. The proof of the existence is based on the Galerkin approximation, the stopping time technique and some weak convergence principles in functional analysis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this paper, following previous works of ours, we deal with a mathematical model of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. We assume spatial diffusion of free HBV particles, logistic growth for both healthy and infected hepatocytes, and use the standard incidence function for viral infection. Moreover, one time delay is introduced to account for actual virus production. Another time delay is used to account for virus maturation. The existence, uniqueness, positivity and boundedness of solutions are established. Analyzing the model qualitatively and using a Lyapunov functional, we establish the existence of a threshold $ \mathcal {T}_0 $ T 0 such that, if the basic reproduction number $ \mathcal {R}_0 $ R 0 verifies $ \mathcal {R}_0\leq \mathcal {T}_0{ \lt }1 $ R 0 ≤ T 0 < 1 , the infection-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable. When $ \mathcal {R}_0 $ R 0 is greater than one, we discuss the local asymptotic stability of the unique endemic equilibrium and the occurrence of a Hopf bifurcation. Also, when $ \mathcal {R}_0 $ R 0 is greater than one, the system is uniformly persistent, which means that the HBV infection is endemic. The unemployment is the main channel through which the economic and financial crises influence the social development. In this paper, we propose a mathematical model to study the interactions between financial crisis spread, economic growth and unemployment. We also solve an optimal control problem focusing on the minimization, at the lowest cost, of the adverse effects of the financial crisis. The analysis of the model leads us to two equilibria: (1) a stress free equilibrium, where the economy and the employment are optimal, and (2) a stressed equilibrium. We obtain a theoretical confirmation of Okun's law and a formula to compute the minimum reservation wage in terms of model parameters. In this paper, two non-standard finite difference (NSFD) schemes are proposed for a mathematical model of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection with spatial dependence. The dynamic properties of the obtained discretized systems are completely analyzed. Relying on the theory of M-matrix, we prove that the proposed NSFD schemes is unconditionally positive. Furthermore, we establish that the NSFD method used preserves all constant steady states of the corresponding continuous initial boundary value problem (IBVP) model. We prove that the conditions for those equilibria to be asymptotically stable are consistent with the continuous IBVP model independently of the numerical grid size. The global asymptotical properties of the HBV-free equilibrium of the proposed NSFD schemes are derived via the construction of a suitable discrete Lyapunov function, and coincides with the continuous system. This confirms that the discretized models are dynamically consistent since they maintain essential properties of the corresponding continuous IBVP model. Finally, numerical simulations are performed from which it is demonstrated that the proposed NSFD method is advantageous over the standard finite difference (SFD) method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
