This study aims to find the effect of compaction variations on the shape of the material with SEM in the form of micro-structures. The results of this compaction variation will determine how efficient the power is needed in the formation of a sample, ODS materials are made from various mixtures of powder materials. The powder materials commonly used are Fe and Cr materials and then mixed with other materials, the powder material that has been milled is then compacted with the specified load variation, this is done so that the material is solid before sintering. The variation of compaction carried out in this study with loads of 10 Tons, 20 Tons, 40 Tons and 60 Tons was observed how much influence on the grain size of the material, from the results of metallographic and SEM tests showed at a pressure of 10 Tons the grains were still in the form of medium spheres for 20, 40, 60 Tons of material are seen to bind to each other, for 40 and 60 Tons are not too much change compared to 20 Tons. Alumina ceramics are needed as a strategic material in various applications of electronic components, automotive and mechanical components. The research was conducted by adding Al2O3, SiO2 powder and glass powder and then milling the powder on a High Energy Milling machine in the UNPAM laboratory for 45 minutes. Then the powder material is compacted with a dry pressing tool with a loading of 20 tons, the compaction results are put into the furnace for sintering. The expected research variables are by varying the sintering temperature of 900°C, 1000°C and 1100°C and cooling naturally until the pellet material reaches room temperature. The sintered pellet sample was then characterized using a hardness, density and XRD analysis tool. The results of the XRD characterization were read using MAUD (Material Using Diffraction) software. The test results show that the maximum hardness occurs when the material is sintered at a temperature of 1100°C, while the maximum density of 0.99 g/cm3 occurs when the material is sintered at a temperature of 1000°C. Based on XRD observations, a dominant phase of corondum (α-Al2O3) and a minor phase of SiO2 was formed, and there was no reaction between alumina and silica additives. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study presents an analysis of the mechanical properties of AlO3−SiO2 composite material resulting from the sintering process at a temperature of 1100°C with various milling times, respectively 20 minutes, 40 minutes, and 60 minutes. Mechanical properties data analyzed were changes in hardness to phase changes. The results of the hardness test showed that the increase in the hardness value of the material along with the addition of the milling process time were 70 HB, 76 HB, and 156 HB, respectively. The results of the phase change analysis using the Maud software shows that there is a phase change that results in a change in the hardness of the material.
