A symmetric union in the 3-space R^3 is a knot, obtained from a knot in R^3 and its mirror image, which are symmetric with respect to a 2-plane in R^3, by taking the connected sum of them and moreover by connecting them with some vertical twists along the plane, which is a generalized operation of the connected sum of a knot and its mirror image. In this paper, we show that a satellite symmetric union with minimal twisting number one such that the order of the pattern is an odd number ≥ 3 has at least two disjoint non-parallel essential tori in the complement.

TETD (Toshiba Electron Tubes and Devices Co., Ltd.) has been developing a high efficiency klystron improved bunch quality by the multi-stage of core oscillation design. For feasibility study, an S-band 7.5 MW klystron has been designed with the efficiency of more than 60% at 1.8μperveance. The first prototype was fabricated by modifying the interaction section of a commercial model to enhance the efficiency from 45% to 60%. The klystron was tested in June 2017, and 57% of efficiency at 6 MW output power was demonstrated. We are developing the second prototype which has the improved design for the higher efficiency at 7.5 WM output power. 2006(平成18)年6月23日から25日までの三日間,藍野学院短期大学学長・藍野加齢医学研究所所長の大澤仲昭先生の会頭のもと,「21世紀の日本の東洋医学の進路-伝統の継承と新しい発展」をテーマに,第57回日本東洋医学会学術総会が大阪中之島の大阪国際会議場に於いて開催された。近年重要視されつつある東洋医学の学術総会を藍野学院で主催したことは大変意義深いことであったと考える。また本学術総会ではプログラムの内容から運営にいたるまで,新しい試みが多く取り入れられた。なかでも藍野学院短期大学学生の総会運営への参加は画期的なことであり,非常に評価が高かったと同時に,学生たちにとっても良い経験であった。, The 57th annual meeting of the Japan Society for Oriental Medicine was held from the 23rd to the 25th of June 2006 at Osaka International Convention Center. As a member of Aino Gakuin College, which hosted the meeting, I report on the program and the theme in detail. We investigated the effects of DHEA and DHEA-S on glucose metabolism using diabetic mice db/db in vivo. The DHEA-S-treated mice showed more prominent hepatomegaly and a greater decrease of the serum glucose level than DHEA-treated mice. These preliminary data suggest that DHEA-S has a stronger hypoglycemic effect than DHEA, or even that the hypoglycemic effect may be due to DHEA-S, rather than DHEA. We describe herein the first report of side effects induced by leuprorelin acetate (LA) administration. A 70-year-old man, with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), vasospastic angina, diabetes mellitus type 2, and arteriosclerosis obliterans was suffering from prostate cancer. LA administration (drug-) induced interstitial pneumonia based on IPF and the de-novo onset of bronchial asthma, both of which are thought to be Th 2-related diseases. Using 3-color flow cytometry, we analyzed the chemokine receptors CD4+CXCR3+/CD3+ and CD4+CCR4+/CD3+, and found that the CXCR3/CCR4 ratio changed in the Th 2 pattern. We report a case of intracranial pure bone developed in the inner leaf of the dura mater. The patient, a 32-year-old woman, had suffered chronic headache over the previous two years. Physical and neurological findings on admission were unremarkable. Computed tomography scan revealed a homogeneous high-density mass without any enhancement and skull radiographs showed a dense calcified mass in the right frontal area. The mass was 3 cm in diameter and 2 cm in thickness. Total resection was performed under a preoperative diagnosis of calcified meningioma. However, histopathological findings revealed the mass to be "pure bone". Intracranial meningeal bone and/or osteoma are rare for a pathogenic origin. There have been only a few reports regarding the effectiveness of leukotriene receptor antagonist (LTRA) in the treatment of patients with cough variant asthma (CVA). Methods: The present research in patients (9 males, 17 females; age 59±23 yr) with recurrent CVA was performed to investigate the effectiveness of a 2-week course of the LTRA montelukast sodium (MT) based on clinical use of a cough score (CS). Secondly we performed a sub-analysis of clinical parameters for CS, age, and gender in the condition-matched cases drawn from the total cases. Results: Of the 26 cases studied, the course of MT was effective in 19 cases (rate of responsiveness, 73%; 11 cases, good response; 8 cases, moderate response) and induced no response in 7 cases. There have been extremely a few reports regarding the effectiveness of leukotriene receptor antagonist (LTRA) in the treatment of patients with bronchodilatorunresponsive chronic dry cough (BU-CDC). Methods : Research on 12 patients (4 males, 8 females, 9 with atopic factors; age 41±18 yrs) with BU-CDC was carried out to investigate the effects of a 2-week course of the LTRA montelukast sodium (MT) at a dosage of 10 mg once daily. The patients studied had a cough that had persisted for over 4 weeks, which had already failed to be treated with a 2-week course of the β_2-adrenoreceptor agonist. Their response to MT was clinically judged using a cough score (CS). Results: (1) Of the 12 cases studied, 4 cases (33%) showed a good response, 3 (25%) showed a moderate response, and 5 (42%) showed no response. In the total cases, the rate of effectiveness was 58%, and the improvement rate of CS (i-CS) was 28% (P=0.03). (2) The duration of the cough was negatively correlated with the i-CS (r=-0.48, P=0.08), but there was no correlation between the cough severity and the i-CS. (3) Sub-analysis showed that the longer the cough persisted, the poorer the responsiveness was; the i-CS was, 15% in 6 cases with a cough persisting for over 8 weeks, and 40% in 6 cases with a cough persisting for less than 8 weeks (P=0.10). There were no significant differences between the high CS cases and low CS ones, or between the male cases and female ones.
