Abstract

This paper introduces reAnalyst, a scalable analysis framework designed to facilitate the study of reverse engineering (RE) practices through the semi-automated annotation of RE activities across various RE tools. By integrating tool-agnostic data collection of screenshots, keystrokes, active processes, and other types of data during RE experiments with semi-automated data analysis and annotation, reAnalyst aims to overcome the limitations of traditional RE studies that rely heavily on manual data collection and subjective analysis. The framework enables more efficient data analysis, allowing researchers to explore the effectiveness of protection techniques and strategies used by reverse engineers more comprehensively and efficiently. 27. Evolving identities, social media and the employment relationship : an interpretative phenomenological analysis

Abstract

This study uses interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) to explore how actors in three key organisational roles: human resources practitioners, operational managers and employees use social media to dramaturgically shape identity and the implication this has on employment relationships. The study contributes to qualitative research design by using a multi-perspective approach. The research draws upon data captured from 25 semi-structured, in- depth interviews. Analysis is presented in four key themes: 1) adoption, participation and staging of social media in the workplace 2) power, control and surveillance of social media use 3) evolving identity and dramaturgical performance on social media; and finally, 4) resistance, misbehaviour and conflict. The findings reveal social media are not widely adopted, lack strategic coordination and their purpose is not fully understood. Actors used a variety of sites to dramaturgically stage their identity and aesthetic representations of self; some were contradictory to organisational expectations. Little training existed to develop social media skills, therefore was regarded sceptically by HR and management who sought tighter control mechanisms to govern access and use. Social media policy was often unclear and difficult to find. Regulations became attenuated as they filtered through organisations. Management, in attempts to control use, developed bastardised rules suiting their own agendas including hard HR management tactics, surveillance and pre-screening of employee profiles for recruitment and disciplinary purposes. Such regimes were not governed by policy or development; these have ethical implications. Employees used sousveillance to observe peers and management; highlighting possibilities for regulations and highlight both a challenge and resistance to power in employment relationships. The regimes of control contributed to novel forms of misbehaviour which require reflection and adaptation to management practice.

44. From Learning without Limits to Leading without Limits: An Autobiographical Reflective Case Study of Leading Academic Development within Higher Education

Abstract

This autobiographical case study reflects upon how a senior academic leader repurposed the Learning without Limits pedagogical framework originally developed within UK primary and secondary school settings to inform the development of a new transformational leadership framework within a higher education setting. Kolb's Experiential Learning Cycle is used to structure an analytically self-reflective account of the leadership behaviours deployed for a distributed model of academic development to be effective, viewed through the lens of Learning without Limits. As a result, a new framework to inform effective approaches to the leadership of change in higher education is suggested: Leading without Limits.

47. Memory practices 'from below': Mnemonic solidarity, intimacy and counter-monuments in the practices of Zoscua, Colombia.

Abstract

This article analyses the memory practices of Corporación Zoscua, a small, grassroots activist group in Colombia representing victims of the armed conflict within the region of Boyacá. After an initial grounding within the broader context of transitional justice and historical memory debates within Colombia, the article focuses on how Zoscua's practices constitute a form of tactical, vernacular memory-making from below that involves temporary alliances and negotiations in order to make interventions into the mnemonic spaces of the city. Based on a mixed-methods approach that includes semi-structured interviews with participants, as well as textual and paratextual analysis, the article provides an analysis of the conception and construction of their memory wall in the city of Tunja. It highlights first how the choice of location of the wall constitutes a tactical take-over of public space, with grassroots memory being inserted into a conventionally top-down locale that conveys official, state-sponsored national values. Second, the article considers the practices and negotiations involved in designing and building the wall, and, subsequently, focuses on the content of the wall, with particular attention to the collective and collaborative nature of the artwork that, through its imagery, composition and focus on emotions, and contests the high-art values normally associated with monumental practices. The article concludes by suggesting that the distinction between top-down and bottom-up memory initiatives is complicated when examining the mnemonic practices of grassroots memory actors, who make tactical use of alliances to further their aims. As the analysis in this article reveals, bottom-up strategies undertaken by community groups and top-down initiatives promoted by authorities often become entangled or coalesce, evidenced both in the practices and negotiations involved in creating grassroots memorials, and in the resulting materiality of the memorial wall under discussion.
