Despite the music industry's attempts to genericise world music, it is not a genre, though it is nonetheless possible to talk about world music as a field of cultural production. There are identifiable forms of capital, such as the types of authenticities musicians are expected to sound and exhibit; and there are identifiable positions available to be taken, concerning the proximity of the musician's sound to western popular music, and, most prominently, the position of whether or not to sing in English or another major European language. This essay takes up the theoretical problem of genres and fields: What is the relationship between an industry-imposed genre and a field? How do forms of capital congeal in fields? In today's neoliberal capitalism, it is clear that the fields of power and economics are increasingly encroaching on all fields of cultural production, to the extent that some genres of music have become brands. © 2014 Taylor & Francis.

PURPOSE: It is believed that implant-supported fixed partial dentures (FPDs) should display passive fit. The objective of this in vivo-based finite element analysis (FEA) was to quantify the magnitude of bone loading occurring on account of the fixation of cemented or screw-retained 5-unit superstructures. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Based on a patient situation with 3 implants, 4 different groups of restorations with 10 samples each were fabricated. Strain gauges on the pontics of the restorations were used for in vivo measurements. Using the values obtained, bone loading in 3-dimensional FE models was simulated as von Mises equivalent stress. RESULTS: The in vivo measured mean strain values ranged from 32 microm/m to 458 microm/m at the different sites. FEA revealed stresses between 5 and 30 MPa in the cortical area, while in trabecular bone values ranging from 2 MPa to 5 MPa were observed. Stress of a similar magnitude was found for axial implant loading with 200 N. DISCUSSION: Assuming that the axial loading of a single implant with 200 N is within the realm of the bone's adaptation ability, it would appear that the amount of stress resulting from the fixation of superstructures alone does not constitute a risk. CONCLUSIONS: The level of precision of fit which can be obtained in superstructure fabrication would appear to suffice to produce restorations that do not cause bone damage. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The knowledge base of information related to early wound healing around endosseous dental implants is rapidly changing and expanding. Unless one is directly involved with creating this pool of information or has an extraordinary interest in the literature of the field, it is difficult to keep up to date with the flow of information. This article is intended to provide the clinician with a state-of-the-art review of the current literature related to early wound healing and the creation of an osseointegrated interface between living and nonliving structures. While some literature dealing with basic laboratory studies including tissue culture is discussed, the primary focus of the article is the in vivo literature, ie, animal and human studies. PURPOSE: The present material reports on prosthodontic complications in a trial of 51 patients with prostheses supported by single-stage implants over a period of 36 months. MATERIALS AND METHODS: One hundred eighty-six single-stage implants were placed in 51 patients over a 3-year period in 2 carefully controlled prospective clinical trials. Nineteen of the patients (103 implants) were completely edentulous and restored with a maxillary complete denture and a mandibular fixed-detachable complete prosthesis. Single metal-ceramic crowns or fixed partial dentures were fabricated for the remaining 32 patients (83 implants). The fixed restorations were either screw-retained or cemented. RESULTS: All patients/implants were followed for a minimum of 3 years. Complications in the edentulous patients included fracture of denture teeth, fracture of the maxillary denture, and occlusal screw loosening. Occlusal screw loosening and loss of the resin composite access plug were the only complications observed in the patients treated with screw-retained restorations. No complications were found in the patients restored with cemented restorations on solid abutments. DISCUSSION: Problems with prostheses were very common in the completely edentulous patients (13 of 19 patients encountered complications), possibly a result of increased bite force or inadequate laboratory technique. Tooth fractures were seen more frequently in men than in women. Complications occurred in only 5 of the 32 partially edentulous patients. PURPOSE: Dental implants are accepted as a successful alternative to conventional fixed and removable prostheses for the treatment of partial or complete edentulism. However, there have been few studies of the success of implants from the patients' perspective. The purpose of this study was to assess patient overall satisfaction with the outcome of treatment with maxillary anterior implants. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A self-administered mailed questionnaire, which was developed for this project, and a data abstraction form, which was designed based on information available from the corresponding dental records of 123 eligible subjects, were utilized to survey implant patients. RESULTS: Seventy-eight of 123 eligible subjects responded to the mailed, self-administered, structured questionnaire. Twelve of the 24 questionnaire variables demonstrated statistically significant bivariate associations with the dependent variable 'overall patient satisfaction.' Five variables--implant position, definitive restoration shape, appearance, effect on speech, and chewing capacity--were strongly associated with overall satisfaction. No demographic or treatment-related, dental record-abstracted variable, of the 25 that were examined, was statistically significant. DISCUSSION: The practitioner who provides implant restorations should be aware of the multidimensional aspects of patient satisfaction with implant treatment. This study suggests that patient satisfaction with key elements influences the overall acceptance of maxillary anterior implant prostheses, which are esthetically critical. Communication between dentist and patient is important to achieve optimal results that will be satisfactory to both. Discussion of treatment limitations may also help patients to develop realistic expectations of the final result. CONCLUSIONS: In this limited investigation, patient satisfaction with implant position, restoration shape, overall appearance, effect on speech, and chewing capacity were critical for patient overall acceptance of the dental implant treatment. There is limited dental literature evaluating the retentive capabilities of luting agents when used between metal components, such as cast metal restorations cemented onto machined metal implant abutments. This study compared the retentive strengths of 5 different classes of luting agents used to cement cast noble metal alloy crowns to 8-degree machined titanium cementable implant abutments from the Straumann ITI Implant System. Sixty prefabricated 5.5-mm solid titanium implant abutments and implants were used; 30 received the standard surface preparation and the other 30 received an anodized surface preparation. Anodized implant components were used to reflect current implant marketing. Sixty castings were fabricated and randomly paired with an abutment and implant. A total of 12 castings were cemented onto the implant-abutment assemblies for each of the 5 different luting agents (zinc phosphate, resin composite, glass ionomer, resin-reinforced glass ionomer, and zinc oxide-non-eugenol). After cementation, the assemblies were stored in a humidor at room temperature prior to thermocycling for 24 hours. Each casting was pulled from its respective abutment, and the force at which bond failure occurred was recorded as retentive strength. A statistically significant difference was found between the 5 cements at P < or = .001. Of the cements used, resin composite demonstrated the highest mean retentive strength. Zinc phosphate and resin-reinforced glass-ionomer cements were the next most retentive, while glass ionomer and zinc oxide-non-eugenol cements demonstrated minimal retention. This study examined the adhesive stability of screw-retained implant-supported fixed dental prostheses (FDPs) bonded to prefabricated gold cylinders after a load cycling. Five FDP groups (n = 10 per group) that differed either in bonding or loading modality (no loading, loading, moment loading, humidity, silicoating) were compared based on the forces needed to separate the FDP frameworks from the gold cylinders. The mean separating forces for the different groups ranged from 311 N to 501 N. No statistically significant differences could be detected between the five groups (Welch t test, P = .447). Despite the limited transferability into clinical practice, it appears that sufficient bonding stability can be achieved for screw-retained implant-supported FDPs bonded to prefabricated gold cylinders. Purpose: To determine the accuracy of new electronic torque-limiting devices (ET) when compared to new and used conventional-style beam-type (BT) mechanical torque-limiting devices and hand-piece style (HS) mechanical torque-limiting devices. The secondary purpose was to compare any difference in accuracy between new and used mechanical torque-limiting devices, and any difference in accuracy when used on a straight versus an angled screw channel abutment., Materials and Methods: A total of five torque-limiting devices were used to obtain 2000 readings under standardized conditions. An implant analog was fastened into a digital torque meter, to which an abutment was connected. Pre-determined torque values of 15 Ncm and 35 Ncm were applied, and actual torque values were recorded. A straight and an angled abutment were used to record 1000 readings each using the five torque-limiting devices. An overall Kruskal-Wallis test was applied to compare the median deviation among devices followed by a pairwise comparison ( = 0.05)., Results: For a target torque value of 15 Ncm on a straight abutment, the electronic device (ET) was statistically more accurate than the beam type (BT) new (p < 0.001) and used (p < 0.048) devices but less accurate than the hand-piece style (HS) used device (p < 0.001). On an angled abutment for a target value of 15 Ncm, the electronic device (ET) was statistically more accurate than hand-piece style (HS) new and used devices (p < 0.001). For a target torque value of 35 Ncm on a straight abutment, the ET was statistically more accurate than the HS new device (p < 0.001) but less accurate than the BT new device (p < 0.001). On an angled abutment for a target value of 35 Ncm, the electronic device (ET) was statistically less accurate than the beam-type (BT) new device (p < 0.001), the beam-type (BT) used device (p = 0.001), and the hand-piece style (HS) used device (p < 0.001). The electronic device (ET) was the only device accurate within the ISO standard of accuracy of 6% for each of the target torque value/abutment design combinations. There was no statistically significant difference related to the type of abutment used (angled vs. straight)., Conclusions: Electronic torque limiting devices (ET) are an acceptable method for delivering torque for implant restorations for straight and angled abutments at 15 Ncm and 35 Ncm torque values. Conventional style beam-type (BT) mechanical torque-limiting devices are a simple, predictable, validated, and inexpensive tool for delivering accurate torque at 15 Ncm and 35 Ncm torque values. Aim: To compare implant survival and complication rates between shorter and standard-length implants with sinus augmentation and restored with single crowns, at 10 years of loading., Materials and Methods: One-hundred and one patients (137 implants) with a ridge height of 5-7 mm in the posterior maxilla were randomly assigned to two treatment modalities: shorter implants (6 mm) (group short [GS]) or standard-length implants (11-15 mm) with sinus grafting (group graft [GG]). Following the insertion of final restorations, patients were regularly recalled for up to 10 years. Assessed outcomes encompassed implant survival, marginal bone levels (MBLs), biological and technical parameters and patient-reported outcome measures (OHIP-49 = Oral Health Impact Profile). Non-parametric statistical analysis was used to analyse the data., Results: For the 5- to 10-year follow-up period, 77 patients with 105 implants (GS: 36 patients/48 implants; GG: 41/57) were available for re-examination (drop-out rate 21%). Implant survival rates at the patient level were 96.0% (GS; 2 failures) and 100% (GG) (inter-group p = .24). Median MBLs amounted to 0.00 mm (min 0.00; max 3.25; GS) and 0.00 mm (min 0.00; max 4.55; GG) (inter-group p = .73). Technical complications predominantly occurred within the first 5 years (inter-group p > .05). Peri-implantitis rates were 4.2% (GS) and 13.3% (GG) (intergroup p = .37). Median OHIP-49 scores were 7.00 (0.00; 39.00; GS) and 9.00 (0.00; 196; GG) (inter-group p = .61) at 10 years., Conclusions: Based on similar 10-year implant survival rates, reduced patient morbidity and lower costs, the use of shorter dental implants might well serve as an alternative treatment concept to longer implants placed in conjunction with sinus grafting for patients with a limited ridge height in the posterior maxilla. Aim: Cost-effectiveness analysis (CEA) was performed to compare axicabtagene ciloleucel (axi-cel) with tisagenlecleucel (tisa-cel) and lisocabtagene (liso-cel) for treatment of relapsed or refractory large B-cell lymphoma in adult patients after ≥2 lines of therapy in Japan. Materials & methods: Cost-effectiveness analysis was conducted using the partition survival mixture cure model based on the ZUMA-1 trial and adjusted to the JULIET and TRANSCEND trials using matching-adjusted indirect comparisons. Results & conclusion: Axi-cel was associated with greater incremental life years (3.13 and 2.85) and incremental quality-adjusted life-years (2.65 and 2.24), thus generated lower incremental direct medical costs (-$976.29 [-¥137,657] and -$242.00 [-¥34,122]), compared with tisa-cel and liso-cel. Axi-cel was cost-effective option compared with tisa-cel and liso-cel from a Japanese payer's perspective.

To quantify the biases introduced during human gut microbiome studies, analyzing an artificial mock community as the reference microbiome is indispensable. However, there are still limited resources for a mock community which well represents the human gut microbiome. Here, we constructed a novel mock community comprising the type strains of 18 major bacterial species in the human gut and assessed the influence of experimental and bioinformatics procedures on the 16S rRNA gene and shotgun metagenomic sequencing. We found that DNA extraction methods greatly affected the DNA yields and taxonomic composition of sequenced reads, and that some of the commonly used primers for 16S rRNA genes were prone to underestimate the abundance of some gut commensal taxa such as Erysipelotrichia, Verrucomicrobiota and Methanobacteriota. Binning of the assembled contigs of shotgun metagenomic sequences by MetaBAT2 produced phylogenetically consistent, less-contaminated bins with varied completeness. The ensemble approach of multiple binning tools by MetaWRAP can improve completeness but sometimes increases the contamination rate. Our benchmark study provides an important foundation for the interpretation of human gut microbiome data by providing means for standardization among gut microbiome data obtained with different methodologies and will facilitate further development of analytical methods., (© The Author(s) 2023. RNA-seq is a sequencing technique that uses next-generation sequencing (NGS) to explore and study the entire transcriptome of a biological sample. NGS-based analyses are mostly performed via command-line interfaces, which is an obstacle for molecular biologists and researchers. Therefore, the higher throughputs from NGS can only be accessed with the help of bioinformatics and computer science expertise. As the cost of sequencing is continuously falling, the use of RNA-seq seems certain to increase. To minimize the problems encountered by biologists and researchers in RNA-seq data analysis, we propose an automated platform with a web application that integrates various bioinformatics pipelines. The platform is intended to enable academic users to more easily analyze transcriptome datasets. Our automated Transcriptome Analysis Platform (aTAP) offers comprehensive bioinformatics workflows, including quality control of raw reads, trimming of low-quality reads, de novo transcriptome assembly, transcript expression quantification, differential expression analysis, and transcript annotation. aTAP has a user-friendly graphical interface, allowing researchers to interact with and visualize results in the web browser. Crosstalk between the gut microbiota and intestinal epithelium shapes the gut environment and profoundly influences the intestinal immune homeostasis. Glycosylphosphatidylinositol anchored proteins (GPI - APs) contribute to a variety of gut-associated immune functions, including microbial surveillance and defense, and epithelial cell polarity. Properly polarised epithelial cells are essential for the establishment of the barrier function of gut epithelia. The Piga gene is one among seven genes that encode for an enzyme which is involved in the first step of GPI-anchor biosynthesis. This is the first study reporting a knockout of the intestinal epithelial cell-specific Piga gene (Piga-/-) and its association with the gut microbiota in mice using a whole metagenome shotgun-based sequencing approach. An overall reduced microbiota diversity has been observed in the Piga-/- group as compared to the control group (ANOVA p = 0.34). The taxonomic biomarkers, namely: Gammaproteobacteria (class), Enterobacterales (order), Enterobacteriaceae (family), Escherichia (genus), Proteus (genus) and Escherichia coli (species), increased more in the Piga-/- mice as compared to in the control group. Further, the pathogenic E. coli strains, namely E. coli O157:H7 str. EDL 933 (EHEC), E. coli CFT073 (UPEC) and E. coli 536 (UPEC), were found in the Piga-/- mice which also harbored virulence factor transporters. In addition, the taxa responsible for short chain fatty acid production were decreased in the Piga-/- group. The Piga-/- mice gut harbored an increased number of microbial functions responsible for the survival of pathogens in the inflamed gut environment. In the present study, we elucidated the effect of grain-based (GB) diet containing both soluble and insoluble fibers and purified ingredients-based (PIB) diet containing only insoluble fiber, namely cellulose on mice gut microbiome using whole shotgun based metagenomic sequencing. Although the fiber content in both diet types is the same (5%) the presence of soluble fiber only in the GB diet differentiates it from the PIB diet. The taxonomic analysis of sequenced reads reveals a significantly higher enrichment of probiotic Lactobacilli in the GB group as compared to the PIB group. Further, the enhancement of energy expensive cellular processes namely, cell cycle control, cell division, chromosome partitioning, and transcription is observed in the GB group which could be due to the metabolization of the soluble fiber for faster energy production. In contrast, a higher abundance of cellulolytic bacterial community namely, the members of family Lachnospiraceae and Ruminococcaceae and the metabolism functions are found in the PIB group. The PIB group shows a significant increase in host-derived oligosaccharide metabolism functions indicating that they might first target the host-derived oligosaccharides and self-stored glycogen in addition to utilising the available cellulose. In addition to the beneficial microbial community variations, both the groups also exhibited an increased abundance of opportunistic pathobionts which could be due to an overall low amount of fiber in the diet. Furthermore, backtracing analysis identified probiotic members of Lactobacillus, viz., L. crispatus ST1, L. fermentum CECT 5716, L. gasseri ATCC 33323, L. johnsonii NCC 533 and L. reuteri 100-23 in the GB group, while Bilophila wadsworthia 3&#95;1&#95;6, Desulfovibrio piger ATCC 29098, Clostridium symbiosum WAL-14163, and Ruminococcaceae bacterium D16 in the PIB group. These data suggest that Lactobacilli, a probiotic community of microorganisms, are the predominant functional contributors in the gut of GB diet-fed mice, whereas pathobionts too coexisted with commensals in the gut microbiome of the PIB group. Thus at 5% fiber, GB modifies the gut microbial ecology more effectively than PIB and the inclusion of soluble fiber in the GB diet may be one of the primary factors responsible for this impact., (© 2022. Manual impairment could be part of the clinical presentation of a number of systemic conditions or traumas. Inability to successfully remove a removable partial denture is one of the contraindications of this type of treatment. This report presents a technique for fabrication of a custom device made chairside to assist a manually impaired patient due to osteoarthritis with the removal of a removable mandibular prosthesis. Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are considered as prebiotics and are well known for their health-promoting properties, including antitumor, allergy-preventive, and infection-protective effects. They exert these effects by modulating the gut microbial composition and dynamics. In the present study, we performed a comparative whole metagenome shotgun sequencing analysis (WMGS) to elucidate the gut microbiota and secretary Immunoglobulin A (SIgA) dynamics as a result of 5% (w/w) FOS supplementation over a period of 7 days (fecal samples were collected every day). A number of taxa including Bacteroides , Lactobacillus , Roseburia , Clostridia , Faecalibaculum , and Enterorhabdus were found to be modulated with SIgA production in the murine gut. The process of SIgA production from FOS metabolization was found to be carried out via the production of short-chain fatty acids in the gut. Species of Bacteroides and Roseburia ; namely, B. caccae, B. finegoldii, B. ovatus, B. thetaiotamicron, and Roseburia intestinalis, respectively, are predominantly responsible for FOS metabolization in the murine gut. The abundances of these bacterial species and their corresponding functions involved in FOS metabolization decreased over time even though these prebiotics were administered continuously for seven days. This suggests that there is a decrease in FOS metabolization over time. Hypophosphatasia is a rare metabolic inherited dento-osseous disorder. Although there is some available literature on various dental characteristics of hypophosphatasia patients, few reports focus on the effects of hypophosphatasia on the permanent dentition and prosthodontic rehabilitation, particularly in relation to the use of dental implants. Accumulating evidence indicates that gut microorganisms have a pathogenic role in autoimmune diseases, including in multiple sclerosis 1 . Studies of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (an animal model of multiple sclerosis) 2,3 , as well as human studies 4-6 , have implicated gut microorganisms in the development or severity of multiple sclerosis. However, it remains unclear how gut microorganisms act on the inflammation of extra-intestinal tissues such as the spinal cord. Here we show that two distinct signals from gut microorganisms coordinately activate autoreactive T cells in the small intestine that respond specifically to myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG). After induction of experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis in mice, MOG-specific CD4 + T cells are observed in the small intestine. Experiments using germ-free mice that were monocolonized with microorganisms from the small intestine demonstrated that a newly isolated strain in the family Erysipelotrichaceae acts similarly to an adjuvant to enhance the responses of T helper 17 cells. Shotgun sequencing of the contents of the small intestine revealed a strain of Lactobacillus reuteri that possesses peptides that potentially mimic MOG. Mice that were co-colonized with these two strains showed experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis symptoms that were more severe than those of germ-free or monocolonized mice. These data suggest that the synergistic effects that result from the presence of these microorganisms should be considered in the pathogenicity of multiple sclerosis, and that further study of these microorganisms may lead to preventive strategies for this disease.

Inflammatory bowel disease results from alterations in the immune system and intestinal microbiota. The role of intestinal epithelial cells (IECs) in maintaining gut homeostasis is well known and its perturbation often causes gastrointestinal disorders including IBD. The epithelial specific adaptor protein (AP)-1B is involved in the establishment of the polarity of IECs. Deficiency of the AP-1B μ subunit (Ap1m2-/-) leads to the development of chronic colitis in mice. However, how this deficiency affects the gut microbes and its potential functions remains elusive. To gain insights into the gut microbiome of Ap1m2-/- mice having the colitis phenotype, we undertook shotgun metagenomic sequencing analysis of knockout mice. We found important links to the microbial features involved in altering various physiological pathways, including carbohydrate metabolism, nutrient transportation, oxidative stress, and bacterial pathogenesis (cell motility). This study aimed to elucidate the targets and mechanisms of anti-staphylococcal effects from bioactive metabolites produced by lactic acid bacteria. We aimed to better understand the safety and efficacy of these bioactive metabolites in in vivo systems, typically at topical sites. The cell-free supernatant and protein-rich fraction from Lactobacillus plantarum USM8613 inhibited staphyloxanthin biosynthesis, reduced (p < 0.05) the cell number of Staphylococcus aureus by 10 6  CFU/mL and reduced biofilm thickness by 55% in S. aureus-infected porcine skins. Genome-wide analysis and gene expression analysis illustrated the production of several plantaricins, especially the plantaricins EF and JK that enhanced the anti-staphylococcal effects of L. plantarum USM8613. In vivo data using rats showed that the protein-rich fraction from L. plantarum USM8613 exerted wound healing properties via direct inhibition of S. aureus and promoted innate immunity, in which the expression of β-defensin was significantly (p < 0.05) upregulated by 3.8-fold. The protein fraction from L. plantarum USM8613 also significantly enhanced (p < 0.05) the production of cytokines and chemokines through various stages of wound recovery. Using ∆atl S. aureus, the protein-rich fraction from L. plantarum USM8613 exerted inhibitory activity via targeting the atl gene in S. aureus. Taken altogether, our present study illustrates the potential of L. plantarum USM8613 in aiding wound healing, suppressing of S. aureus infection at wound sites and promoting host innate immunity.

Increasing levels of antibiotic resistance in pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus, remains a serious problem for public health, leading to the need for better alternative antimicrobial strategies. The antimicrobial proteins produced by Lactobacillus plantarum USM8613 attributed to its anti-staphylococcal activity were identified as extracellular transglycosylase and glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GADPH), both with different mechanisms of action. Extracellular transglycosylase, which contains a LysM domain, exerts a cell wall-mediated killing mechanism, while GADPH penetrates into S. aureus cells and subsequently induces the overexpression of autolysis regulators, resulting in S. aureus autolysis. Both extracellular transglycosylase and GADPH exert anti-inflammatory effects in S. aureus-infected HaCaT cells by reducing the expression and production of TLR-2, hBDs and various pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1α, IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, and IL-8). Taken together, extracellular transglycosylase and GADPH produced by L. plantarum USM8613 could potentially be applied as an alternative therapeutic agent to treat S. aureus skin infections and promote skin health., (Copyright © 2019 Elsevier B.V. Aim: To compare the implant survival rate between short dental implants and standard length implants placed in combination with bone grafting at 5 years of loading., Methods: This multicentre study enrolled 101 patients (137 implants) with a posterior maxillary bone height of 5-7 mm. Patients randomly received either short implants (6 mm; GS) or long implants (11-15 mm) with sinus grafting (GG). Six months later, implants were loaded with single crowns and patients re-examined at 1, 3 and 5 years of loading. Outcomes included: implant survival, marginal bone levels (MBLs), biological and technical parameters and patient-reported outcome measures (OHIP-49 = Oral Health Impact Profile). Statistical analysis was performed using a non-parametric approach., Results: At 5 years, 90 patients (124 implants; GS: 60; GG: 64) were re-examined (drop-out rate 10%). Patient-level implant survival rates were 98.5% (GS; 1 implant failure) and 100% (GG; p = 0.49). Mean MBLs were 0.54 mm ± 0.87 (GS) and 0.46 mm ± 1.00 (GG; p = 0.34). Biological and technical parameters were not significantly different (p > 0.05). Median overall OHIP-49 scores improved significantly up to 5 years in both groups (GS: p = 0.03; GG: p = 0.00; intergroup comparison p = 0.11)., Conclusions: Both treatment modalities were suitable for implant therapy in the atrophied posterior maxilla revealing no differences in terms of survival rates, marginal bone levels (changes), patient-reported outcomes and technical/biological complications., (© 2018 John Wiley & Sons A/S. Objectives: The main purpose of this systematic review was to evaluate outcomes related to the number of implants utilized to support complete-arch fixed prostheses, both for the maxilla and the mandible., Materials and Methods: This review followed the reporting guidelines of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). A focused question using the PICO format was developed, questioning whether "In patients with an implant supported fixed complete dental prosthesis, do implant and prosthetic survival outcomes differ between five or more compared to fewer than five supporting implants?". A comprehensive search of the literature was formulated and performed electronically and by hand search. Two independent reviewers selected the papers and tabulated results. Primary outcomes analyzed were implant and prosthesis survival. Implant distribution, loading, and type of retention were observed as secondary outcomes, as they relate to the number of implants. A meta-analysis was performed to compare results for studies by number of implants., Results: The search strategy identified 1,579 abstracts for initial review. Based on evaluation of the abstracts, 359 articles were identified for full-text evaluation. From these, 93 were selected and included in this review, being nine RCTs, 42 prospective and 42 retrospective. Of the 93 selected studies, 28 reported number of implants for the maxilla, 46 for the mandible, and 19 for both maxilla and mandible. The most reported number of implants for the "fewer than five" group is 4 for the maxilla, and 3 and 4 for the mandible, whereas for the "five or more" implants group, the most reported number of implants was 6 for the maxilla and 5 for the mandible. No significant differences in the primary outcomes analyzed were identified when fewer than five implants per arch were compared with five or more implants per arch (p > 0.05), in a follow-up time ranging from 1 to 15 years (median of 8 years)., Conclusions: Evidence from this systematic review and meta-analysis suggests that the use of fewer than five implants per arch, when compared to five or more implants per arch, to support a fixed prosthesis of the completely edentulous maxilla or mandible, present similar survival rates, with no statistical significant difference at a p < 0.05 and a confidence interval of 95%., (© 2018 The Authors. Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are produced in microbes as a source of carbon and energy storage. They are biodegradable and have properties similar to synthetic plastics, which make them an interesting alternative to petroleum-based plastics. In this study, a refined method of recovering PHA from Cupriavidus necator biomass was proposed by incorporating the use of the yellow mealworm (the larval phase of the mealworm beetle, Tenebrio molitor) as partial purification machinery, followed by washing of the fecal pellets with distilled water and sodium hydroxide. The PHA contents of the cells used in this study were 55wt% (produced from palm olein) and 60 wt% (produced from waste animal fats). The treatment of distilled water and NaOH further increased the purity of PHA to 94%. In parallel, analysis of the 16S rRNA metagenomic sequencing of the mealworm gut microbiome has revealed remarkable changes in the bacterial diversity, especially between the mealworms fed with cells produced from palm olein and waste animal fats. This biological recovery of PHA from cells is an attempt to move towards a green and sustainable process with the aim of reducing the use of harmful solvents and strong chemicals during polymer purification. The results obtained show that - purities of >90%, without a reduction in the molecular weight, can be obtained through this integrative biological recovery approach. In addition, this study has successfully shown that the cells, regardless of their origins, were readily consumed by the mealworms, and there is a correlation between the feed type and the mealworm gut microbiome., (Copyright © 2017 Elsevier B.V. Purpose: To study the objective differences in lip support using common facial soft tissue markers, when evaluating patients wearing a maxillary denture with a labial flange in comparison to an experimental flangeless denture., Materials and Methods: A total of 31 maxillary edentulous patients who were esthetically satisfied with their existing maxillary denture were recruited in this clinical study. The maxillary denture was then duplicated in clear acrylic resin. Two standardized full-face digital photographs (frontal and profile) were made with the duplicate denture in the mouth. The labial flange of the duplicate denture was then removed from first premolar to first premolar region, to create the experimental flangeless denture. It was returned to the oral cavity, and 2 additional full-face digital photographs were made. The differences between these images were studied using 5 facial anatomic markers (subnasale, labrale superior, stomion, nasolabial angle, lip thickness). A paired sample t-test was used to compare differences in measurements for various anatomic markers using an alpha value of 0.05., Results: For profile images, there were no statistically significant differences between photographs with and without a labial flange for anatomic markers- labrale superior and stomion (p < 0.05). There was a statistically significant difference for subnasale as well as the nasolabial angle but the magnitude of the difference was too small to be clinically significant (p < 0.05). For frontal images, there was no statistically significant difference in lip thickness between photographs with and without a labial flange. Additionally, there was no association between differences in measurements and patient-related factors such as gender and prior years of edentulism., Conclusions: Removal of a labial flange in a maxillary denture resulted in minimal and clinically insignificant anatomic differences in lip support between flange and flangeless dentures, when analyzed in frontal and profile images., (© 2017 by the American College of Prosthodontists.)

In this study, hypercholesterolemic mice fed with Lactobacillus fermentum FTDC 8312 after a seven-week feeding trial showed a reduction in serum total cholesterol (TC) levels, accompanied by a decrease in serum low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels, an increase in serum high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels, and a decreased ratio of apoB100:apoA1 when compared to those fed with control or a type strain, L. fermentum JCM 1173. These have contributed to a decrease in atherogenic indices (TC/HDL-C) of mice on the FTDC 8312 diet. Serum triglyceride (TG) levels of mice fed with FTDC 8312 and JCM 1173 were comparable to those of the controls. A decreased ratio of cholesterol and phospholipids (C/P) was also observed for mice fed with FTDC 8312, leading to a decreased number of spur red blood cells (RBC) formation in mice. Additionally, there was an increase in fecal TC, TG, and total bile acid levels in mice on FTDC 8312 diet compared to those with JCM 1173 and controls. The administration of FTDC 8312 also altered the gut microbiota population such as an increase in the members of genera Akkermansia and Oscillospira, affecting lipid metabolism and fecal bile excretion in the mice. Background: Typhoid fever is an acute systemic infection of humans caused by Salmonella enterica subspecies enterica serovar Typhi (S. Typhi). In chronic carriers, the bacteria survive the harsh environment of the gallbladder by producing biofilm. The phenotype of S. Typhi biofilm cells is significantly different from the free-swimming planktonic cells, and studies have shown that they are associated with antibiotic resistance, immune system evasion, and bacterial persistence. However, the mechanism of this transition and the events leading to biofilm formation are unknown. High throughput sequencing was performed to identify the genes involved in biofilm formation and to postulate the mechanism of action., Results: Planktonic S. Typhi cells were cultured using standard nutrient broth whereas biofilm cells were cultured in a stressful environment using high shearing-force and bile to mimic the gallbladder. Sequencing libraries were prepared from S. Typhi planktonic cells and mature biofilm cells using the Illumina HiSeq 2500 platform, and the transcriptome data obtained were processed using Cufflinks bioinformatics suite of programs to investigate differential gene expression between the two phenotypes. A total of 35 up-regulated and 29 down-regulated genes were identified. The identities of the differentially expressed genes were confirmed using NCBI BLAST and their functions were analyzed. The results showed that the genes associated with metabolic processes and biofilm regulations were down-regulated while those associated with the membrane matrix and antibiotic resistance were highly up-regulated., Conclusions: It is proposed that the biofilm phenotype of S. Typhi allows the bacteria to increase production of the membrane matrix in order to serve as a physical shield and to adhere to surfaces, and enter an energy conservation state in response to the stressful environment. Conversely, the planktonic phenotype allows the bacteria to produce flagella and increase metabolic activity to enable the bacteria to migrate and form new colonies of infection. This data provide a basis for further studies to uncover the mechanism of biofilm formation in S. Typhi and to discover novel genes or pathways associated with the development of the typhoid carrier state.

Purpose: To identify whether reuse or replacement is better for managing loose screws., Materials and Methods: An electronic search was performed utilizing PubMed, and a further manual search of the reference lists of relevant reviews and articles was conducted. Selected inclusion and exclusion criteria were used to limit the search., Results: The electronic and manual search provided 243 titles and abstracts. Full-text analysis was performed for 98 articles, resulting in a total of 15 articles that qualified for inclusion in this study. All the included articles reported that loose screws were reused and retightened or were replaced by new screws. The time of screw loosening ranged from 1 month to 3 years after delivery. Available details of numbers and frequency of screw loosening permitted only limited analysis from very few articles. A total of 44 loose screws reported in two articles did not loosen again after retightening once., Conclusion: From the very limited available literature, it appears that retightening an occlusal screw or abutment screw is an acceptable procedure, as the evidence shows that retightened screws seem to remain tight. Replacement of screws as a routine procedure cannot be recommended. Routine assessment of screw tightness is recommended to minimize additional and more severe complications.

Aim: To test whether the use of short dental implants (6 mm) results in an implant survival rate similar to that with longer implants (11-15 mm) in combination with sinus grafting., Methods: This multicentre study enrolled 101 patients with partial edentulism in the posterior maxilla and a remaining bone height of 5-7 mm. Included patients were randomly assigned to receive short implants (6 mm; GS/group short) or long implants (11-15 mm) simultaneously with sinus grafting (GG/group graft). Six months after implant placement (IP), implants were loaded with single crowns (PR) and patients were re-examined yearly thereafter. Assessed outcomes included: implant survival, marginal bone level changes (MBL), probing pocket depth (PPD), bleeding on probing (BoP) and plaque accumulation (PCR) during 3 years of loading as well as recording of any adverse effects. In addition to descriptive statistics, statistical analysis has been performed for the two treatment modalities using a non-parametric approach., Results: In 101 patients, 137 implants were placed. At the 3-year follow-up (FU-3), 94 patients with 129 implants were re-examined. The implant survival rate was 100% in both groups. MBL at FU-3 was 0.45 mm (GG) and 0.44 mm (GS) (p > 0.05). A statistically significant loss of MBL was observed in both GG (-0.43 ± 0.58 mm) and GS (-0.44 ± 0.56 mm) from IP to FU-3, and from PR to FU-3 in GG (-0.25 ± 0.58 mm) but not in GS (-0.1 ± 0.54 mm). PCR and BoP at FU-3 did not show any difference between the groups but for PPD (p = 0.035)., Conclusions: Within the limitations of this study, implants with a length of 6 mm as well as longer implants in combination with a lateral sinus lift may be considered as a treatment option provided a residual ridge height of 5-7 mm in the atrophied posterior maxilla is present., (© 2017 John Wiley & Sons A/S. Purpose: Our goal was to describe the clinical and molecular genetic findings in Thai patients with Leber congenital amaurosis (LCA)., Methods: Whole exome sequencing (WES) was performed in eight unrelated patients. All genes responsible for inherited retinal diseases (IRDs) based on RetNet were selected for analysis. Potentially causative variants were filtered through a bioinformatics pipeline and validated using Sanger sequencing. Segregation analysis of the causative genes was performed in family members when available., Results: Eleven deleterious variants, six nonsense and five missense, were identified in seven genes: four LCA-associated genes (CEP290, IQCB1, NMNAT1, and RPGRIP1), one gene responsible for syndromic LCA (ALMS1), and two IRDs-related genes (CTNNA1 and CYP4V2). Clinical reassessment supported the diagnosis of syndromic LCA in those patients harboring potentially pathogenic variants in the ALMS1. Interestingly, two causative genes, CTNNA1 and CYP4V2, previously reported to cause butterfly-shaped pigment dystrophy (BSPD) and Bietti's crystalline dystrophy (BCD), respectively, were detected in two other patients. These two patients developed rapid and severe visual loss in contrast to BSPD and BCD patients in previous studies. The results of this study demonstrate that causative variants identified in the CTNNA1 and CYP4V2 genes are also associated with LCA., Conclusions: This is the first report describing the molecular genetics and clinical manifestations of Thai patients with LCA. The present study expands the spectrum of LCA-associated genes, which is a benefit for molecular diagnosis. The identification of mutations in the CTNNA1 and CYP4V2 genes requires further elucidation in larger cohorts with LCA.

In this study, we used a taxonomic and functional metagenomic approach to analyze some of the effects (e.g. displacement, permanence, disappearance) produced between native microbiota and a previously constructed Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH)-degrading microbial consortium during the bioremediation process of a soil polluted with PAHs. Bioaugmentation with a fungal-bacterial consortium and biostimulation of native microbiota using corn stover as texturizer produced appreciable changes in the microbial diversity of polluted soils, shifting native microbial communities in favor of degrading specific populations. Functional metagenomics showed changes in gene abundance suggesting a bias towards aromatic hydrocarbon and intermediary degradation pathways, which greatly favored PAH mineralization. In contrast, pathways favoring the formation of toxic intermediates such as cytochrome P450-mediated reactions were found to be significantly reduced in bioaugmented soils. PAH biodegradation in soil using the microbial consortium was faster and reached higher degradation values (84% after 30 d) as a result of an increased co-metabolic degradation when compared with other mixed microbial consortia. The main differences between inoculated and non-inoculated soils were observed in aromatic ring-hydroxylating dioxygenases, laccase, protocatechuate, salicylate and benzoate-degrading enzyme genes. Purpose: Cyclic loading may cause settling of abutments mounted on dental implants, potentially affecting screw joint stability and implant-abutment micromotion. It was the goal of this in vitro study to compare micromotion of implant-abutment assemblies before and after masticatory simulation., Materials and Methods: Six groups of abutments (n = 5) for a specific tissue-level implant system with an internal octagon were subject to micromotion measurements. The implant-abutment assemblies were loaded in a universal testing machine, and an apparatus and extensometers were used to record displacement. This was done twice, in the condition in which they were received from the abutment manufacturer and after simulated loading (100,000 cycles; 100 N). Statistical analysis was based on analysis of variance, two-sample t tests (Welch tests), and Pearson product moment correlation (α = .05)., Results: The mean values for micromotion ranged from 33.15 to 63.41 μm and from 30.03 to 42.40 μm before and after load cycling. The general trend toward reduced micromotion following load cycling was statistically significant only for CAD/CAM zirconia abutments (P = .036) and for one type of clone abutment (P = .012), with no significant correlation between values measured before and after cyclic loading (Pearson product moment correlation; P = .104). While significant differences in micromotion were found prior to load cycling, no significant difference among any of the abutment types tested could be observed afterward (P > .05 in all cases)., Conclusion: A quantifiable settling effect at the implant-abutment interface seems to result from cyclic loading, leading to a decrease in micromotion. This effect seems to be more pronounced in low-quality abutments. For the implant system tested in this study, retightening of abutment screws is recommended after an initial period of clinical use.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to visualize the mode and impact of force transmission in narrowdiameter implants with different implant-abutment designs and material properties and to quantify the displacement of the abutment., Materials and Methods: Narrow-diameter implants from two manufacturers were examined: Astra 3.0-mm-diameter implants (Astra OsseoSpeed TX; n = 2) and Straumann Bone Level implants with a 3.3-mm diameter made of commercially pure titanium (cpTi) Gr. 4 (n = 2) and 3.3-mm TiZr-alloy (n = 2; Bone Level, Straumann) under incremental force application using synchrotron radiography (absorption and inline x-ray phase-contrast) and tomography., Results: During loading (250 N), Astra 3.0 and Bone Level 3.3- mm implants showed a deformation of the outer implant shoulder of 61.75 to 95 μm independent of the implant body material; the inner implant diameter showed a deformation of 71.25 to 109.25 μm. A deformation of the implant shoulder persisted after the removal of the load (range, 42.75 to 104.5 μm). An angulated intrusion of the abutment (maximum, 140 μm) into the implant body during load application was demonstrated; this spatial displacement persisted after removal of the load., Conclusion: This study demonstrated a deformation of the implant shoulder and displacement of the abutment during load application in narrow-diameter implants.

Hevea brasiliensis Muell. Arg, a member of the family Euphorbiaceae, is the sole natural resource exploited for commercial production of high-quality natural rubber. The properties of natural rubber latex are almost irreplaceable by synthetic counterparts for many industrial applications. A paucity of knowledge on the molecular mechanisms of rubber biosynthesis in high yield traits still persists. Here we report the comprehensive genome-wide analysis of the widely planted H. brasiliensis clone, RRIM 600. The genome was assembled based on ~155-fold combined coverage with Illumina and PacBio sequence data and has a total length of 1.55 Gb with 72.5% comprising repetitive DNA sequences. A total of 84,440 high-confidence protein-coding genes were predicted. Comparative genomic analysis revealed strong synteny between H. brasiliensis and other Euphorbiaceae genomes. Our data suggest that H. brasiliensis's capacity to produce high levels of latex can be attributed to the expansion of rubber biosynthesis-related genes in its genome and the high expression of these genes in latex. Using cap analysis gene expression data, we illustrate the tissue-specific transcription profiles of rubber biosynthesis-related genes, revealing alternative means of transcriptional regulation. Our study adds to the understanding of H. brasiliensis biology and provides valuable genomic resources for future agronomic-related improvement of the rubber tree.

Metagenomic samples can contain hundreds or thousands of different species. The most common method to identify these species is to sequence the samples and then classify the reads to nodes along a phylogenic tree. Linear representations of trees with so many nodes face legibility issues. In addition, such views are not optimal for appreciating the read quantity assigned to each node. The problem is exaggerated when comparison between multiple samples is needed. MetaTreeMap adapts a visualization method that addresses these weaknesses. The tree is represented by nested rectangles that illustrate the number or percentage of assigned reads. MetaTreeMap implements various options specific to phylogenic trees that allow for quick overview and investigation of the information. More generally, the goal of this software is to provide the user with the ability to easily display phylogenic trees based on various quantities assigned to the nodes, such as read number, percentage or other values. Statement of Problem: Presently, no studies have evaluated clinical outcomes or patient-centered outcomes for complete dentures fabricated with computer-aided design and computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology., Purpose: The purpose of this prospective cohort pilot study was to evaluate the clinical and patient-centered outcomes for CAD/CAM monolithic dentures fabricated in 2 visits., Material and Methods: Twenty participants with an existing set of maxillary complete dentures opposing either mandibular complete dentures or implant-retained overdentures that required replacement were recruited in this study. A 2-visit duplicate denture protocol was used to fabricate 40 arches of monolithic dentures with CAD/CAM technology. A 100-mm visual analog scale (VAS) instrument was then used to record 12 outcomes at baseline and at 1-year follow-up. Predetermined values were assigned to grade the VAS rating of each outcome as favorable (70.1-100) and unfavorable (≤70). Favorable ratings were sub-divided as excellent (90.1-100), good (80.1-90), and fair (70.1-80). The clinical outcomes were evaluated independently by 2 experienced prosthodontists at baseline and at 1-year follow-up. Patients evaluated the corresponding patient-centered outcomes during the same time intervals. Additional descriptive variables were also recorded. Each clinical and patient-centered outcome was summarized by medians and ranges. Differences in all ratings recorded at baseline and at 1 year were tested by 1-sided sign test (α=.05)., Results: Of 20 participants, 3 were lost to follow-up, and 3 were unsatisfied with the digital dentures and withdrew from the study. These 3 participants were considered treatment failures. Of the 14 remaining participants, 9 had implant-retained mandibular overdentures, and 5 had conventional mandibular complete dentures. For clinical outcomes, the 12 studied outcomes were favorably evaluated by the 2 prosthodontist judges at the 1-year follow-up. Evaluations showed minimal differences between baseline and 1 year. An average of 5 emails (0-11) per patient were sent to the laboratory technicians to communicate the improvisation the CAD design of the dentures. An average of 3.3 denture adjustments were needed after insertion (0-10) during the 1-year period. For patient-centered outcomes, median ratings of all 14 participants indicated each of the 12 studied outcomes was favorable at the 1-year recall. Statistically significant improvements in patient ratings from baseline to 1 year were observed for the absence of denture sore spots and treatment time to make the dentures (P<.05). Minor complications related to loss of retention, excessive wear of teeth and the need for additional visits were observed in 5 participants. No other adverse clinical outcomes related to the CAD/CAM dentures were noted in the 14 evaluated participants, and all dentures were intact and in good condition at the 1-year follow-up., Conclusions: Clinical and patient-centered outcomes for CAD/CAM monolithic dentures fabricated using a 2-visit protocol were evaluated favorably at a 1-year follow-up. However, the proportion of excellent and good ratings for overall satisfaction and assessment was higher for patients than clinicians. Purpose: Retinitis pigmentosa (RP) is a clinically and genetically heterogeneous group of inherited retinal degenerations characterized by progressive loss of photoreceptor cells and RPE functions. More than 70 causative genes are known to be responsible for RP. This study aimed to identify the causative gene in a patient from a consanguineous family with childhood-onset severe retinal dystrophy., Methods: To identify the defective gene, whole exome sequencing was performed. Candidate causative variants were selected and validated using Sanger sequencing. Segregation analysis of the causative gene was performed in additional family members. To verify that the mutation has an effect on protein synthesis, an expression vector containing the first ten amino acids of the mutant protein fused with the DsRed2 fluorescent protein was constructed and transfected into HEK293T cells. Expression of the fusion protein in the transfected cells was measured using fluorescence microscopy., Results: By filtering against public variant databases, a novel homozygous missense mutation (c.3G>A) localized in the start codon of the MERTK gene was detected as a potentially pathogenic mutation for autosomal recessive RP. The c.3G>A mutation cosegregated with the disease phenotype in the family. No expression of the first ten amino acids of the MerTK mutant fused with the DsRed2 fluorescent protein was detected in HEK293T cells, indicating that the mutation affects the translation initiation site of the gene that may lead to loss of function of the MerTK signaling pathway., Conclusions: We report a novel missense mutation (c.3G>A, p.0?) in the MERTK gene that causes severe vision impairment in a patient. Taken together with previous reports, our results expand the spectrum of MERTK mutations and extend our understanding of the role of the MerTK protein in the pathogenesis of retinitis pigmentosa.

Statement of Problem: Immediate mandibular lateral translation (IMLT) has been widely described in theory, but its clinical significance in prosthodontics and restorative dentistry is not clear., Purpose: The purpose of this study was to systematically review the existing literature to identify the clinical significance of IMLT (immediate side shift)., Material and Methods: An electronic search for articles in the English language literature was performed independently by multiple investigators using a systematic search process with the PubMed search engine. After applying predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria, the final list of studies was analyzed to identify the clinical significance of IMLT., Results: The initial electronic search yielded 858 titles. The systematic application of the inclusion and exclusion criteria eventually produced 23 studies addressing IMLT in 914 human participants. Eleven studies reported use of voluntary movements, 5 articles reported use of only induced movements, 2 studies reported use of both voluntary and induced movements, and 5 articles did not report the recording method. The amount of IMLT reported ranged from 0 to 3 mm with minimal clarity among authors on the exact description of IMLT. No studies reported on any clinical implication (harm or benefit to patients or clinicians) of incorporating IMLT in diagnosis and treatment planning., Conclusions: This systematic review did not identify any scientific evidence on the clinical implications of IMLT. Furthermore, there is a lack of clear terminology related to IMLT and the timing of the side shift, occurrence of IMLT on the working versus nonworking condyle, and induced versus noninduced methods of recording and measuring. Purpose: Passive fit of implant-supported restorations is difficult to achieve. The aim of this randomized clinical trial was to test the null hypotheses that a reduction in misfit strain does not occur over time, regardless of the initial strain level, and that changes in prosthesis-induced bone strain do not differ between restorations with two different levels of fit., Materials and Methods: Twenty edentulous sites were restored with screw-retained fixed restorations on two implants either cast in one piece (misfit) or assembled by an intraoral bonding procedure (fit). The restorations had a bar-shaped pontic onto which a strain-gauged metal plate could be fixed. Repeated strain gauge measurements on patient-specific in vitro resin models and on the implants intraorally were performed every 4 weeks for a period of 6 months. Statistical analysis was based on Kruskal-Wallis tests, t tests, Welch two-sample t test (α = .05), and linear regression analysis., Results: No reduction in misfit strain could be observed in vitro, indicating that alterations in prosthetic fit had not occurred in any restoration (Kruskal-Wallis; P > .05). Initial strain levels varied widely and differed significantly between fit and misfit restorations (t test; P = .0032). Regrouping the restorations with respect to a threshold strain level of 100 μm/m resulted in 10 fit and 9 misfit restorations; 1 restoration had to be excluded from analysis due to a malfunctioning strain gauge. Seven fit restorations and five misfit restorations showed strain reduction in vivo based on linear regression, while percentage strain reduction did not differ between groups (Welch two-sample t test; P = .8186)., Conclusion: Within the limitations of this randomized clinical trial characterized by an observation period of 6 months and only healthy subjects being enrolled, bone adaptation around statically and dynamically loaded implants occurred, causing a decrease in misfit strain evoked by non-passively fitting prostheses. For maintaining osseointegration of dental implants, passivity of fit of multiunit restorations seems not to be as critical as previously thought.

To date, the genus Mangrovimonas consists of only one species, Mangrovimonas yunxiaonensis strain LY01 that is known to have algicidal effects against harmful algal blooms (HABs) of Alexandrium tamarense. In this study, the whole genome sequence of three Mangrovimonas-like strains, TPBH4(T)(=LMG 28913(T),=JCM 30882(T)), ST2L12(T)(=LMG 28914(T),=JCM 30880(T)) and ST2L15(T)(=LMG 28915(T),=JCM 30881(T)) isolated from estuarine mangrove sediments in Perak, Malaysia were described. The sequenced genomes had a range of assembly size ranging from 3.56 Mb to 4.15 Mb which are significantly larger than that of M. yunxiaonensis LY01 (2.67 Mb). Xylan, xylose, L-arabinan and L-arabinose utilization genes were found in the genome sequences of the three Mangrovimonas-like strains described in this study. In contrast, these carbohydrate metabolism genes were not found in the genome sequence of LY01.
