In the current study, the structural and external validity of data derived from two shorter versions of the Multidimensional Assessment of Teamwork in Sport (MATS) were examined using multilevel analyses. Evidence of model–data fit was shown for both a 5-factor model comprising 19 items (with subscales assessing teamwork preparation, execution, evaluation, adjustments, and management of team maintenance) and a single-factor model comprising five items (providing a global estimate of teamwork). In general, data from both versions were positively and significantly correlated with (and distinct from) athletes' perceptions of team cohesion, collective efficacy, performance satisfaction, enjoyment in their sport, and commitment to their team and their coaches' transformational leadership. The measures appear well suited to detect between-teams differences, as evidenced by intraclass correlation coefficients and acceptable reliability estimates of team-level scores. In summary, the 19-item Multidimensional Assessment of Teamwork in Sport-Short and five-item Multidimensional Assessment of Teamwork in Sport-Global provide conceptually and psychometrically sound questionnaires to briefly measure teamwork in sport. Research suggests that teams can greatly enhance their performance through boundary management, which comprises activities that establish, maintain, and regulate linkages with the surrounding environment. However, such performance gains do not materialize equally in all instances, and some teams struggle to benefit from boundary management. Integrating insights from social network and team-level resource allocation theories, we develop a contingency framework that considers the internal organization of a team's boundary management (i.e., the carrier, target, and type of such activities) as a key moderating factor that accounts for the varying effects. To test this framework, we use a meta-analytic approach that synthesizes >30 years of empirical research (i.e., 85 primary studies covering 10,848 teams). Our results show a positive main effect of team boundary management on team performance. Crucially, these performance benefits are more pronounced when the target of boundary management is extraorganizational rather than inside the home organization and when the type of boundary management activities is boundary spanning (e.g., coordination, representation, or information search) rather than boundary strengthening (e.g., buffering, guarding, or sentry activities). Moreover, boundary management is more effective when executed by formal team leaders rather than team members, and our results tentatively suggest that this may reflect differences in effectiveness between leaders and members in boundary strengthening, rather than boundary spanning. Overall, our findings advance theory on team boundary management by clarifying previously ambiguous findings and illustrating how teams can design their boundary management activities to be most effective. Healthcare practitioners must be trained to collaborate in a dynamic environment where patients are complex and teams can change from day-to-day, but choosing the right measures to assess the effectiveness of interprofessional teamwork among learners is challenging. This study used measures representing four different perspectives to assess student teams in a practice setting where team composition varied each day. We tested the strength of the relationships between these measures, and we examined the impact of additional variables on each measure. Participants were students from different health professions at a single university and patients in a community-based wellness program. We sampled 100 wellness visits where an interprofessional student team met with a patient, and we assessed team effectiveness using student perceptions of their team, patient ratings, observer ratings, and faculty assessments of team healthcare plans for the patient. We calculated bivariate correlations between the four measures and used regression analyses to assess the impact of predictors including student, patient, and clinic/site characteristics, on each measure of team effectiveness. There were small but significant negative correlations between the assessments of faculty and observers (r = – 0.23), as well as between faculty and patients (r = – 0.14). Conversely, a small but significant positive correlation was found between the assessments of patients and observers (r = 0.15). Among the regression models, faculty and patient ratings of team effectiveness were more strongly related to the predictors measured (R-squared = 53.6% and 41.7%, respectively). Patient age and number of clinic visits, team size, and clinic site were significant factors for predicting team effectiveness across the two measures. Our findings provide evidence that different perspectives of team effectiveness measure different constructs. While all approaches have value, in IPE practice settings, team effectiveness should be evaluated with multiple measures to understand performance and identify opportunities for improvement. This paper studies the potential advantages of virtuous leadership (VL) and its influence on team effectiveness (TE) within the context of higher educational institutions (HEIs). It examines the role of knowledge sharing (KS) as a mediator and perceived organizational support (POS) as a moderator in the relationship between VL and TE. The study was conducted in Uttarakhand State, and the data was collected from the employees working in different HEIs. Structural equation modeling was used to analyze the data. The findings suggest the significant influence of VL on TE, with KS playing a pivotal role as a mediating factor and POS as an essential moderating factor. The study supports the significance of solid leadership in cultivating productive teamwork, wherein leaders who exhibit honesty, thoughtfulness, and forgiveness facilitate knowledge exchange among team members. Abstract Interest in team diversity initiatives has grown significantly over the past decade. Some initiatives focus on creating “highly variable” teams where members bring a wide range of attributes. Others prioritize “highly atypical” teams, where members contribute attributes underrepresented within the broader organization or field, regardless of variety. These two approaches entail markedly different assumptions about maximizing team diversity’s benefits. Comparing short- and long-term outcomes provides important insights into cultivating and leveraging diverse teams. To do so, we examined the proposal submissions of all variable and atypical teams within a competitive seed grant program over six years. We assessed short-term performance based on funding outcomes following a three-stage review process and long-term viability based on team members’ tendency to collaborate more in the future. Our findings demonstrate that diversity operates differently when conceptualized as variability versus atypicality. Specifically, while team variability often resulted in neutral or even negative short-term performance, it had a mixed effect on long-term viability. Conversely, while team atypicality had a mixed impact on short-term performance, it consistently enhanced long-term viability. These results underscore the distinctive value of nurturing highly atypical teams to promote lasting collaboration success and highlight the importance of aligning diversity cultivation strategies with organizations’ short- and long-term goals.

This paper examines the important factors influencing team effectiveness, culture, and leadership in the oil and gas project environment. The study focuses on four controlling variables: cross-culture, organizational culture, path-goal leadership, and team effectiveness. Cross-cultural dynamics greatly affect team dynamics, decision-making, conflict resolution, and project delivery. Organizational culture stresses collective learning and its impact on team members' mindsets. Path-goal leadership clarifies goals and provides support. Effective project teams collaborate, have strong leadership, and integrate individual viewpoints. The study provides valuable insights for Nigerian oil and gas industry project leaders to improve project outcomes aligned with organizational goals. Structural equation modelling (SEM) techniques are employed for data analysis, with the sample size determined based on SEM guidelines. PLS-SEM and CB-SEM approaches are compared, with CB-SEM achieving a higher coefficient of determination. The research suggests that achievement-oriented leadership behaviour and collaborative team processes are essential factors in defining key performance indicators (KPI) for project success.

There is limited research on the mix of team composition and psychosocial factors influencing engineering team effectiveness. This study explored how team composition (gender, age, race, experience, educational diversity, and team size) and psychosocial factors (cognition and group climate) influence the effectiveness of engineering teams. A survey on the performance of engineering teams was carried out to elicit the relevant data from Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) companies and oil refineries in the United States. The results from a multiple linear regression analysis of the data indicate that gender composition, age, experience, and the group climate's Engaged variable positively impacted team effectiveness. On the other hand, the team size and the group climate's Avoiding and Conflict variables had a negative impact. The engineering team's racial composition, educational diversity, and cognition did not have a significant impact on team effectiveness. The insight from the study opens new vistas for how engineering managers can improve the effectiveness of their teams. Managers could modulate the team composition variables at the point of recruitment into the team for maximum effectiveness, while also ensuring the work atmosphere is devoid of negative tendencies like tension and anger. Global virtual teamwork has emerged as a cornerstone of collaborative teamwork in today's work landscape, characterized by cross-border collaboration using digital technologies. Although research has started to investigate the mechanisms underlying effective teamwork through information and communication technologies (ICTs), an often-neglected dimension is the pivotal social context within which this collaboration unfolds. To address this research gap, this study adopts a social capital lens on teamwork in proposing social capital as a multidimensional mediator between the usage of ICTs and team effectiveness. The research model was tested using questionnaire data from 271 technologically sensitive and aware companies in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). The findings reveal that using multiple ICTs alone does not suffice for effective global virtual teamwork. Therefore, this study highlights the significance of social capital for the effectiveness of global virtual teamwork, which holds significant implications for theory and practice.

Building effective school-based leadership teams (SLTs) is at the forefront of today's education leadership agenda in the United States. Yet, no review has focused specifically on SLT team effectiveness. In this study, we employed the functional perspective to analyze existing research on SLTs, aiming to directly identify factors connected to SLT team effectiveness in the United States. We reviewed 53 studies from eight educational leadership journals. Our findings have important implications for promoting SLT effectiveness in the U.S. context, while also unveiling the absence of crucial nuances around team mediators in the selected research. This study aims to explore the relationship of transformational leadership roles, team effectiveness, and well-being with employee innovation behavior in the context of the culinary sector marked as city branding product. This study uses quantitative methods by collecting data through the distribution of questionnaires to employees of culinary sector businesses where the culinary includes city branding products. The results of the data analysis showed that transformational leadership and team effectiveness had a positive relationship with employee innovation behavior, while employee well-being has no relationship with employee innovation behavior. These findings provide important insights for managers and leaders in the culinary sector in understanding the factors influencing employee innovative behaviour in the organizations producing products marked as an icon of the city. Software development projects depend on collaborative teams. In the past 50 years of research, various studies have explored the effect of software engineer's personality traits and cultural values on team performance. These studies have led to better understand these relationships; however, how the personality traits and cultural values influence the team effectiveness is still far away in the literature. This research aims to investigate the relationships between social and psychological complexities (including personality traits and cultural values), team coordination, team motivation, and team success (which comprises team effectiveness and team climate) to explore the impact of social and psychological issues on software team success. An online survey targeting software development professionals and unstructured interviews were followed for data collection. We received 112 responses from software developers working in different countries. Findings indicate that personality traits and cultural values, that is, consciousness, openness, harmony, and autonomy, have positive relationship with team coordination effectiveness, while other factors such as neuroticism, embeddedness, hierarchy, and mastery were found to be related negatively with it. These negative relationships can be mitigated by motivating team members appropriately. Based on our research findings, we conclude that the negative impact caused by different personality and cultural traits could be reduced by improving team coordination effectiveness using effective motivation. Background Team-based delivery of family doctor services is associated with improved patient experiences, better health outcomes, and more efficient healthcare utilization. Team effectiveness is related to the team's output, and family doctor team effectiveness (FDTE) directly impacts the quality and efficiency of contracted family doctor services. We aimed to explore the path and mechanisms influencing FDTE, propose strategies for improvement, and enhance both team effectiveness and service quality. Methods The literature review, key informant interviews, expert consultation, and questionnaire survey were employed. The questionnaire, based on the input–mediator–output–input model, was designed to measure FDTE and its influencing factors. Using stratified random sampling, we distributed the questionnaire to family doctors in both developed and underdeveloped areas of Zhejiang Province, China. We performed hierarchical linear regression analysis to examine the relationship between team effectiveness and influencing factors. Subsequently, we used structural equation model (SEM) to explore and validate the relationships and mechanisms of action among "team input factors," "member input factors," "team behavioral process," and "team emotional process" on team effectiveness. Results The questionnaire was divided into five main sections: "team input factors," "member input factors," "team behavioral process," "team emotional process," and "team effectiveness," with 11 dimensions and 42 items. A total of 508 valid questionnaires were returned. The main factors influencing FDTE are team composition (β  = −0.116, P  < .01), goals and systems (β  = 0.165, P  < .01), cooperative attitude (β  = 0.123, P  < .05), team behavioral process (β  = 0.161, P  < .001), and team emotional process (β  = 0.193, P  < .001). SEM analysis revealed that team input factors, member input factors, and team behavioral process had direct and indirect effects on team effectiveness, while the team emotional process had a direct effect. Conclusions It is recommended to optimize the basic inputs of family doctor teams, enhance the intrinsic motivation of team members, promote team interaction and cooperation, and foster a positive atmosphere for family doctor teamwork. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of the enabling performance measurement systems (PMS) on non-managerial employees' team learning behaviours (TLB) and team effectiveness (TE) when the PMS is used as an enabler. Design/methodology/approach: A questionnaire survey was conducted with non-managerial employees in Japan and a total sample of 474 responses were collected. Partial least squares structural equation modelling using Smart-PLS was used for the analysis. Findings: The results demonstrated that the design feature of global transparency in enabling PMS contributes to the enhancement of TE, with partial mediation through TLB. Furthermore, it was also evident that fostering TLB involves increasing the flexibility in PMS, specifically offering multiple options for collecting and aggregating performance information in various formats. Originality/value: By examining the effects of the four features of enabling controls on TE and TLB, this study shows which features in an enabling PMS are important in motivating non-managerial employees at the operational level. The study not only fills a gap on the impact of enabling controls on non-managerial employees that has been under-researched but also makes an academic contribution in that it has deepened our understanding of four features that have not yet been fully elucidated. Interventions aimed at enhancing team effectiveness and improving performance have been a cornerstone of Organization Development (OD) efforts over the past 60 years. Historically, team interventions have largely been grounded in either leader 1:1 feedback and coaching and/or point-in-time team events as opposed to taking a more integrated and social systems approach over an extended period of time. Given the impact of Covid-19 and the subsequent increase in hybrid and remote working teams, however, many organizations are taking a new (or renewed) focus on team effectiveness. The purpose of this article is to assist OD practitioners in expanding their thinking regarding the design, implementation and impact of team interventions in organizations by employing a more holistic approach. Specifically, based on work conducted in a large global consumer products organization, the authors describe the ways in which the organization's SUPER5 team effectiveness framework was leveraged to integrate data from multiple sources (e.g., personality, 360 feedback, ways of working, and culture surveys) and at multiple levels of analysis (e.g., individual, group, organization) to develop a comprehensive engagement strategy for a newly formed senior leadership team over a period of 3 years. Throughout the broader engagement, the internal and external OD team's efforts resulted in significant enhancements to the climate and performance of the immediate leadership team, the culture and employee engagement in the broader function, and the successful performance of the senior executive directly in charge of the group. Integration within project delivery teams can improve project outcomes in the building construction industry. However, integration across multiple firms and disciplines can be more challenging to manage, when compared to functionally organized, or siloed, teams. Given that resources to manage integration are limited and that most teams are only partially integrated in practice, this research seeks to explore pathways for their success. Using data collected from ten completed projects in the U.S., a fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis was performed to identify which combinations of six dimensions of integration were sufficient for improved project performance. The analysis revealed six distinct and highly consistent pathways to success, as evaluated by the criteria of being on-budget, on-time, or achieving the planned sustainable certification. Across all pathways, having a single team focus and equitable team relationships were the only dimensions consistently found in pathways leading to desirable project outcomes. Other dimensions, such as co-location, seamless operation across organizational boundaries, and a no-blame culture were found in pathways to both desirable and undesirable project outcomes, depending on their combination with other dimensions. These results contribute to theories on implementing team integration, suggesting that fully integrated teams are not always necessary for success. Instead, integrated teams that can work collaboratively, while still maintaining organizational separation or autonomy, can be as effective. While the study does not enable the identification of all possible pathways to success, it provides guidance to practitioners by highlighting a small subset of pathways, giving greater flexibility in managing integration within their teams. Within this context, it is crucial to explore team functioning from the perspectives of multiple stakeholders.Objective: This quantitative pilot study aimed to 1) measure perceptions of multi-stakeholders on key indicators of team functioning (Team Effectiveness, TE, and Team Relational Coordination, TRC) during COVID-19 and its transition, and 2) document whether patient perceptions of TE/TRC are significantly associated with their cancer care experiences.Methods: A descriptive design with repeated measures was used. Through convenience sampling, participants were recruited from two outpatient cancer clinics at a large university-affiliated hospital, in Montréal, Qc, Canada. Sixty-six participants (ie, 13 healthcare professionals, 40 patients, 6 informal caregivers, and 7 volunteers) completed e-measures at T1 (years 2021– 2022) and n = 44 at T2 (year 2023).Results: At T1, participants reported high perceptions of Team Effectiveness (scale 1 to 6) M = 4.47; SD = 0.7 (Mdn = 4.54; IQR: 4.06– 5) and Relational Coordination (scale 1 to 5) M = 3.77; SD = 0.77 (Mdn = 3.81; IQR: 3.12– 4.38) with no significant differences in perceptions across the four groups. At T2, no significant changes in TE/TRC perceptions were found. At both time points, patient perceptions of TE/TRC were significantly correlated with positive cancer care experiences (Spearman rank correlation rs ranging from 0.69 and 0.83; p < 0.01).Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first study documenting perceptions of cancer team functioning amidst the pandemic as reported by multiple stakeholders. Significant relationships between patient perceptions of TE/TRC and their cancer care experiences underscore the importance of including patients’ views in team functioning processes. OBJECTIVE: Moral distress emanating from value conflicts comprising ethical dimensions pose a threat to nurses’ health and retention, as well as to the quality of care. The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationships between the frequency of ethical value conflicts (EVC), and the perceived distress when they occur, respectively, and nurses’ work-related stress, burnout symptoms, turnover intent, team effectiveness, and patient safety. METHODS: A two-wave longitudinal cohort questionnaire study was performed among registered nurses at six hospitals in two Swedish regions. Cross-sectional analyses (T1) were based on 1817 nurses in 228 care units (CU), and longitudinal analyses (T1 – T2) on 965 nurses in 190 CU. Hypothesis testing was performed using multilevel controlled regression modeling. RESULTS: The results indicated that nurses who were often exposed to EVC also to a higher extent tended to report these conflicts as stressful. Frequent exposure to EVC induced by insufficient resources, inapt organizational structures or interpersonal staff relations were cross-sectionally associated with work-related stress, burnout symptoms, turnover intent, and team effectiveness. The longitudinal analyses indicated that EVC induced by a lack of resources primarily had negative effects on nurses’ health and well-being. At the CU level, such conflicts also impaired team effectiveness. At the individual level, EVC induced by organizational constraints or interpersonal relations negatively affected care effectiveness. CONCLUSIONS: EVC are related to negative consequences in healthcare, and such processes take place both on the individual and organizational levels.

PURPOSE: The COVID-19 pandemic and the digital transformation have hastened the demand for enterprises to be more flexible and adaptive in a fast-changing environment, making agile leadership a prominent business trend. Agile leadership improves innovation efficiency, employee performance, and team effectiveness. However, there is limited research on agile leadership's effects on organizational outcomes. Thus, this study provides a meta-analytic review of the impact of agile leadership on organizational outcomes that cover various common dimensions like operational, employee, customer, financial, and social environments. METHODOLOGY: The study has two phases: the first phase performs bibliometric literature analysis, and the second phase performs meta-analysis. In the bibliometric literature analysis, 74 articles that were published between 2004 and 2023 were identified from Scopus and Google Scholar, and their type of publication, year of publication, countries involved in agile leadership research, keywords involved, and their association are examined. For the meta-analysis, 24 articles that performed empirical research were chosen from which the various independent and dependent variables studies, along with their standard regression coefficients (β) and correlation coefficients (γ) that represent the relationship between agile leadership or agile leaders and that of other factors, were extracted and examined. FINDINGS: The study found that there was a significant rise in publications on agile leadership after 2020, and Turkey, the United States, and Indonesia were involved more than other countries. Moreover, agile leadership is studied more in terms of operational outcomes and employee outcomes. The results of the meta-analysis indicate that agile leadership has a strong relationship with factors like interpersonal trust (β=0.93), organizational performance (β=0.90), organizational effectiveness (β=0.89), individual career success (β=0.89) and innovation management (β=0.81). Thus, it is clear that agile leadership has a stronger impact on operational outcomes than employee outcomes. Agile leadership characteristics such as digital innovation, trust, competency, result orientation, and wisdom are significant for organizational growth, team collaboration, team effectiveness, and organizational innovation. IMPLICATIONS: Identifying agile leadership concepts helps assess the progress of empirical research, improve leadership theories and models, and identify potential growth opportunities. The success of agile leadership depends on factors like a company's culture, industry, and size, and this can be studied further. Furthermore, organizations may need to adjust their strategies on customer service, financial management, and investment so that they better reflect the values of agile leadership. ORIGINALITY AND VALUE: This study classifies numerous different research models that shed light on the efficiency of agile leadership based on a comprehensive literature review that serves as the basis for this study. Incorporating autonomy in teams has been an increasingly popular practice, but the mechanisms that make autonomous teams effective still need to be completely understood. Adopting a multidimensional approach to team effectiveness, the aim of this study was to analyse the mediating role of team members’ supportive behaviours in the relationship between team autonomy and team effectiveness (team performance, team viability, quality of group experience and team process improvement).

Abstract Background Team-based care is an essential part of primary health care (PHC), and its team service delivery process is a systematic one involving multiple and complex influences. Research on the formation mechanism can help improve the effectiveness of primary health care teams (PHCTs). Methods First, based on the Donabedian model, we explored the theoretical framework of a PHC team’s effectiveness formation mechanism. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 23primary health care team members in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. A total of seven factors were then included as conditional variables using the crisp set qualitative comparative analysis (csQCA) to explore the complex influences between them and the outcome variable through univariate necessity analysis and path configuration analysis. Results Univariate necessity analysis showed that only “Clear Goals” in the structural dimension were necessary for team effectiveness perception. Six pathways to good primary health care team perception of effectiveness were identified. Two of these paths were more typical. Conclusion “Clear Goals” was the core variable that should be emphasized when exploring the mechanism of PHCT formation. The results suggest that human resources in the management team should be rationally allocated, goal-oriented, and given good attention. Future studies should explore complex combinations of PHCT factors to improve the effectiveness of PHCTs.

PURPOSE: The COVID-19 pandemic and the digital transformation have hastened the demand for enterprises to be more flexible and adaptive in a fast-changing environment, making agile leadership a prominent business trend. Agile leadership improves innovation efficiency, employee performance, and team effectiveness. However, there is limited research on agile leadership’s effects on organizational outcomes. Thus, this study provides a meta-analytic review of the impact of agile leadership on organizational outcomes that cover various common dimensions like operational, employee, customer, financial, and social environments. METHODOLOGY: The study has two phases: the first phase performs bibliometric literature analysis, and the second phase performs meta-analysis. In the bibliometric literature analysis, 74 articles that were published between 2004 and 2023 were identified from Scopus and Google Scholar, and their type of publication, year of publication, countries involved in agile leadership research, keywords involved, and their association are examined. For the meta-analysis, 24 articles that performed empirical research were chosen from which the various independent and dependent variables studies, along with their standard regression coefficients (𝛽) and correlation coefficients (𝛾) that represent the relationship between agile leadership or agile leaders and that of other factors, were extracted and examined. FINDINGS: The study found that there was a significant rise in publications on agile leadership after 2020, and Turkey, the United States, and Indonesia were involved more than other countries. Moreover, agile leadership is studied more in terms of operational outcomes and employee outcomes. The results of the meta-analysis indicate that agile leadership has a strong relationship with factors like interpersonal trust (𝛽=0.93), organizational performance (𝛽=0.90), organizational effectiveness (𝛽=0.89), individual career success (𝛽=0.89) and innovation management (𝛽=0.81). Thus, it is clear that agile leadership has a stronger impact on operational outcomes than employee outcomes. Agile leadership characteristics such as digital innovation, trust, competency, result orientation, and wisdom are significant for organizational growth, team collaboration, team effectiveness, and organizational innovation. IMPLICATIONS: Identifying agile leadership concepts helps assess the progress of empirical research, improve leadership theories and models, and identify potential growth opportunities. The success of agile leadership depends on factors like a company’s culture, industry, and size, and this can be studied further. Furthermore, organizations may need to adjust their strategies on customer service, financial management, and investment so that they better reflect the values of agile leadership. ORIGINALITY AND VALUE: This study classifies numerous different research models that shed light on the efficiency of agile leadership based on a comprehensive literature review that serves as the basis for this study. In addition, this study identifies potential problem areas that need to be fixed, and as a result, it makes a contribution to the research on agile leadership.

The modern project management environment is becoming more and more volatile under the influence of exogenous and endogenous factors. The key factor in this context is motivation, which has the potential to increase its application in project management. The aim of the article is to analyze the motivation strategies that can be implemented by the project management office to increase the success of projects. The importance of motivation in the context of project management is considered, with an emphasis on how motivational strategies can affect the productivity and effectiveness of teams. The importance of the project management office in the development of team motivation to achieve success in project management in conditions of increased volatility of the business environment is emphasized. According to McKinsey, 37% of situations leading to the failure of a project are due to changes in its goals, which directly or indirectly affects motivation. Various methods of motivation used by the project management office, including intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, and their impact on the behavior of employees are considered. Attention is paid to the psychological aspects of motivation, the role of cultural and individual differences. Particular attention is paid to the use of metrics for quantitative project management, which provides a more structured and objective approach to evaluating and improving various aspects of the project, including motivation. An analysis of the importance of creating a favorable environment for motivation and the use of a strategic approach to the implementation of motivational strategies is carried out. The proposed research can be useful for professional analysts and researchers, companies, non-profit organizations and authorities who seek to strengthen the motivation component of the project management office. Prospects for further research include the development of a KPI system taking into account the main organizational goals and, on the basis of their construction, a motivation system by the project management office.

Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) have been introduced as an alternative to hospital-based treatment. Their effectiveness and the factors that may influence it have not yet been fully investigated. According to Belbin’s theory, a team is more effective if its members have diverse roles. The aim of this study was to investigate if there is an association between CMHTs’ effectiveness and Belbin’s team role balance. Participants were members of eight CMHTs. The data collected were demographics (age, gender), discipline, years of experience, and team tenure. Also, the following scales were administered: the Belbin Team Role Self-Perception Inventory (SPI) and team effectiveness scale (TES). One hundred and six members participated. A significant correlation between team role diversity and effectiveness was found. Multilevel analysis showed that role diversity and being a doctor were the only two significant independent predictors of team effectiveness. Belbin’s theory is therefore applicable to CMHTs. The more diverse roles the members of a team have, the better the effectiveness of the team. Given that roles can be modified, team leaders need to be aware of the members’ roles and be able to modify them. Thus, they can increase the effectiveness of their teams.

For example, fluid teams are often comprised of members from different disciplines or organizational divisions who do not have a shared history or future, as they come together to perform a critical, time-sensitive task, and then disband. For these reasons, the mechanisms through which they function and perform may differ from those of more traditional teams, and research is needed to better understand these differences. Methods: To this end, this study utilized critical incident techniques and thematic analysis to examine fluid teams within healthcare, one of the primary contexts in which they are prevalent. Interdisciplinary faculty and students in the medical field who encounter fluid teams within simulation-based education were prompted to reflect on key factors that facilitate or hinder fluid team effectiveness. Results: Primary themes extracted pertained to the conditions fluid teams operate within (e.g., high-stress), the behaviors and emergent states that contribute to their success (e.g., communication), and the KSAO’s of value for members of fluid teams to possess (e.g., readiness). These themes were then compared to existing literature, yielding the identification of some similarities but also many important differences between fluid and traditional teams. Most leadership studies primarily focus on formal leaders, often overlooking the influence of leaders within the team. While prior research has shown that peer leaders can have a beneficial impact on various team outcomes, it is yet unclear which peer leadership behaviors precisely foster a supportive and sustainable work environment. Building upon the recent identification of 10 peer leadership roles and 37 underlying functions, the current study aims to investigate the relationships between these peer leadership roles and functions and key outcomes (i.e., job satisfaction, team cohesion, team effectiveness, and OCB). A total of 31 organizational teams, comprising 182 employees from diverse sectors, participated in a quantitative survey. Employing multilevel modeling analysis, the findings demonstrated that each leadership role and nearly every function predicted at least one outcome, highlighting their significance within organizational teams. Additionally, Necessary Condition Analysis revealed that specific roles and functions were necessary for generating one or more outcomes. Finally, we found that most of the significant relationships remained consistent across teams, regardless of their size, tenure, or level of team identification. These findings refine our understanding of shared leadership and how peer leaders can create a sustainable workplace by fostering employee well-being and productivity in organizational teams. Given the demanding nature of its mission, the collective units of the Army, not just individual Soldiers, need to be able to withstand and adapt to a wide range of challenges. Therefore, it is important to be able to effectively assess resilience at the team-level and to understand the factors that can enable or diminish it. This article describes the development of a construct valid and psychometrically-sound measure of team resilience – the Team Resilience Scale (TRS). A theoretical framework of team resilience and related constructs is introduced. We then summarize the procedures for developing the TRS and related constructs, providing evidence of the content validity of the TRS. Finally, we assess the psychometric soundness and construct validity of the TRS in two Army field studies. Our analyses support the convergent validity of items and indicate that the measure can be used to examine three first-order dimensions of resilience (i.e., physical, affective, and cognitive) or as a single overall resilience composite. Results show the TRS was positively related to team performance in both samples and it co-varied with stressors and team actions. Effective international project team development and management is a crucial aspect of project management that directly influences the performance and satisfaction of team members. As reductions in travel and physical mobility are prioritized for sustainability efforts, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, it is of paramount importance to identify and share effective innovative remote, online project management practices. The purpose of this study is to address the scarcity of related research and investigate the impact of Microsoft (MS) Teams usability on team management effectiveness as mediated by intergroup relation. The population of this study includes university personnel that have participated in the Erasmus+ project Benefit, with a sample size of 52 respondents. The data was analyzed using SmartPLS 4.0. The findings revealed that the usability of MS Teams had a direct, positive, and substantial influence on intergroup interactions and team performance. Further intergroup relations have a direct and significant impact on team effectiveness. The findings of the mediation study indicated that the association between MS Teams usability and team effectiveness is partially mediated by intergroup interactions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract Introduction: The New Jersey Kids Study (NJKS) is a transdisciplinary statewide initiative to understand influences on child health, development, and disease. We conducted a mixed-methods study of project planning teams to investigate team effectiveness and relationships between team dynamics and quality of deliverables. Methods: Ten theme-based working groups (WGs) (e.g., Neurodevelopment, Nutrition) informed protocol development and submitted final reports. WG members (n = 79, 75%) completed questionnaires including de-identified demographic and professional information and a modified TeamSTEPPS Team Assessment Questionnaire (TAQ). Reviewers independently evaluated final reports using a standardized tool. We analyzed questionnaire results and final report assessments using linear regression and performed constant comparative qualitative analysis to identify central themes. Results: WG-level factors associated with greater team effectiveness included proportion of full professors (β = 31.24, 95% CI 27.65–34.82), team size (β = 0.81, 95% CI 0.70–0.92), and percent dedicated research effort (β = 0.11, 95% CI 0.09–0.13); age distribution (β = −2.67, 95% CI –3.00 to –2.38) and diversity of school affiliations (β = –33.32, 95% CI –36.84 to –29.80) were inversely associated with team effectiveness. No factors were associated with final report assessments. Perceptions of overall initiative leadership were associated with expressed enthusiasm for future NJKS participation. Qualitative analyses of final reports yielded four themes related to team science practices: organization and process, collaboration, task delegation, and decision-making patterns. Conclusions: We identified several correlates of team effectiveness in a team science initiative's early planning phase. Extra effort may be needed to bridge differences in team members' backgrounds to enhance the effectiveness of diverse teams. This work also highlights leadership as an important component in future investigator engagement.

Using Etienne Wenger's concept of a community of practice, UH Libraries' Liaison Services Department developed departmental members' emotional intelligence. The social learning structure of the community of practice mirrors the emotional intelligence learning model theorized by Daniel Goleman. This case study demonstrates how this approach can benefit a unit within an academic library. Using a community of practice approach to build a space for social learning creates an environment in which library workers are able to learn and practice the skills of emotional intelligence among their colleagues and within the context of the norms and values of the work environment. We investigated the relation between leader airtime management and team effectiveness in Emergency Management Command and Control (EMCC) teams. Leader airtime management concerns leaders' interventions to structure who shares information when using opening and closing statements to respectively stimulate or reduce information sharing. We coded leaders' airtime management statements across different meeting phases (structuring, information sharing, decision making) using video-recordings of 12 EMCC exercises involving two consecutive meetings each. Experts rated two components of team effectiveness: Team Situation Awareness (TSA) and Team Decision Making (TDM). We found that closing statements were more frequently used in the decision-making phase than in any other meeting phase. Also, leaders of teams with lower TSA used more opening statements in the decision-making phase of the first team meeting than leaders of teams with higher TSA. These results confirm the importance of the timing of leader airtime management for EMCC team effectiveness. Practitioner summary: We investigated leader airtime management and team effectiveness in EMCC teams. We video-coded 12 exercises; experts rated team effectiveness. In the decision-making phase, leaders use more closing statements, and leaders of less effective teams use more opening statements. While prior research has shown a relationship between age diversity and outcomes in teams, little knowledge exists regarding the theoretical mechanisms driving these outcomes. Furthermore, mixed findings from prior research indicate that these relationships differ depending upon contextual factors. Our field study tests two potential mediators and one possible moderator of the relationship between age diversity and team performance. Multi-source data collected from 71 Chinese township government leadership groups showed that team age diversity is positively associated with survey measures of two emergent states, specifically, perceived team effectiveness and collective team identification, which in turn positively predict an objective measure of team performance. The fully mediated model was moderated by leader moral identity, which strengthened the relationships between age diversity and both team emergent states. Results also showed a curvilinear relationship between age diversity and the two team emergent states which was not significantly moderated by leader moral identity. These findings contribute to extant knowledge from an integrative approach within a non-Western cultural context. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
