Este artigo aborda as relações entre crianças e cultura escrita e suas implicações para a prática pedagógica na Educação Infantil. Tem por objetivo compreender os modos de aproximação e participação das crianças na cultura escrita com enfoque em duas questões principais. Primeiro: quais são as perspectivas abordadas na literatura acerca da cultura escrita na Educação Infantil? Segundo: dentre as investigações, quais as intervenções utilizadas para abordar a cultura escrita na Educação Infantil e nos primeiros anos do Ensino Fundamental? A partir de uma Revisão Sistemática de Literatura (RSL), realizada com base na literatura científica publicada nos idiomas português e espanhol, entre os anos de 2010 e 2020, apresentamos o panorama da produção acadêmica desse universo temático. Os resultados apontam que o incentivo à participação na cultura escrita é desejável e viável para essa faixa etária, sendo importante intencionalmente fomentar espaços e momentos para essas ações. Apontam ainda para uma diversidade de possíveis intervenções e estratégias – que precisam ser coerentes com o universo infantil – favorecendo a construção de significados pela criança de forma lúdica. Embasados nos resultados da RSL, um guia docente com sugestões para o trabalho pedagógico foi criado e disponibilizado na forma de um Recurso Educacional Aberto (REA).

Abstract While several studies have investigated the various effects of open educational resources (OER) and open educational practices (OEP), few have focused on its connection to learning achievement. The related scientific literature is divided about the effects of OER and OEP with regards to their contribution to learning achievement. To address this tension, a meta-analysis and research synthesis of 25 studies (N = 119,840 participants) was conducted to quantitatively investigate the effects of OER and OEP on students’ learning achievement. The analysis included course subject, level of education, intervention duration, sample size, geographical distribution, and research design as moderating variables of the obtained effects. We are currently witnessing a global increase in the provision of software platforms and services, offered at ‘no cost’ by large corporations, to higher education. The business model behind these services is largely based on the collection and analysis of massive quantities of user data and metadata, collected through educational packages, which include e-mail, video-conferencing, groupware, file sharing, and other integrated services. The penetration of these services in higher education worldwide is largely unknown. In this study we discuss a methodology and a software script developed to collected new data for all 448 public higher education institutions in all 13 countries in South America. The data show that for every ten higher education institutions in the region, eight have services and platforms offered by such businesses. We contend that the adoption of these services is largely due to disinvestment in public education, and threaten the operational autonomy of institutions in regards to research and teaching, while leading to concerns in regards to data control, privacy, and transparency for teachers, administrators and students. /// Actualmente asistimos a un aumento global de la provisión de plataformas y servicios de software, ofrecidos "sin costes" por grandes empresas, a la educación superior. El modelo de negocio que subyace a estos servicios se basa en gran medida en la recopilación y el análisis de cantidades masivas de datos y metadatos de usuarios, recogidos a través de paquetes educativos, que incluyen correo electrónico, videoconferencias, groupware, intercambio de archivos y otros servicios integrados. Se desconoce, en gran medida, la penetración de estos servicios en la enseñanza superior a nivel mundial. En este estudio discutimos una metodología y un script de software desarrollado para recolectar datos inéditos para todas las 448 instituciones públicas de educación superior en los 13 países de América del Sur. Los datos muestran que por cada diez instituciones de educación superior en la región, ocho tienen servicios y plataformas ofrecidas por estas empresas. Sostenemos que la adopción de estos servicios se debe en gran medida a la desinversión en la educación pública, y amenazan la autonomía operativa de las instituciones en lo que respecta a la investigación y la enseñanza, al tiempo que generan preocupaciones en cuanto al control de los datos, la privacidad y la transparencia para los profesores, administradores y estudiantes.

Incorporating the principles of Open Educational Practices (OEP) into teacher training can help prepare future professionals for the challenges they face in their daily work, as curricula and practices are increasingly influenced by digital culture principles. As a concept that is still being consolidated, OEP can assume different meanings. This study, conducted with teachers in basic (ISCED 1-3) and higher education, aimed to identify the (1) the characteristics inherent to OEP; (2) elements of the identity of an ‘open educator’ and their relation to OEP; and (3) the perspective on OEP presented by the participants. The research method consisted of a combination of semi-structured interviews and document analysis. The results indicated that the participants perceptions were aligned with what is identified in the literature as “expansive” OEP, and that OEP is an evolutionary process in multiple dimensions. Based on the analysis, a framework was developed to assist teachers and educators in reflecting on and evaluating their practices, as well as promoting professional development in the context of OEP.

Initiatives such as the Open Educational Resources (OER) World Map provide a systematic means towards recording activities, documents and individuals related to open education (OE). In this article – which is part of a larger effort to evaluate and extend this World Map – the entries on Brazil and South Africa were critically evaluated in terms of the existing scholarship on open education from these two countries. Clear trends were evident from the World Map and the usefulness of both the methodology and platform to inform gaps and challenges within and across countries in terms of open education, providing inputs that can aid in the design of strategies and international cooperation.

A provisão de Recursos Educacionais Abertos (REA) é feita através de serviços como repositórios e referatórios, os quais demandam esforços significativos para serem criados e mantidos. A sustentabilidade desses serviços é usualmente avaliada pela perspectiva financeira. Nesse estudo, buscamos investigar, através de uma revisão sistemática da literatura (RSL) revisada por pares, em português e espanhol, quais fatores impactam a sustentabilidade de serviços REA. A RSL retornou um número limitado de estudos, indicando uma lacuna. Fazendo uso de literatura expandida, um grupo de 13 fatores foram avaliados, por cinco mantenedores de serviços REA, como uma forma de autoavaliação da sustentabilidade dos seu serviços. Os participantes avaliaram os fatores, indicando que a maioria se constitui como relevante para a sustentabilidade de serviços, o que apoia a perspectiva de que a sustentabilidade de serviços REA inclui, mas vai além de recursos financeiros.

É crescente a presença de plataformas e serviços de empresas privadas de software no ensino público. Isso traz à tona preocupações que incluem a autonomia tecnológica de redes e instituições, o tratamento de dados estratégicos e sensíveis e a privacidade de alunos, professores, gestores e responsáveis. No entanto, ainda pouco sabemos sobre a extensão dessas parcerias e o teor desses acordos. Este trabalho apresenta uma análise das parcerias estabelecidas entre instituições públicas de ensino superior e redes de ensino com duas empresas associadas ao chamado ‘capitalismo de vigilância’. O trabalho partiu de solicitações realizadas via Lei de Acesso à Informação às secretarias de educação de estados e instituições públicas de ensino superior no Brasil. Os resultados indicam adesão massiva a esses serviços e pouca clareza quanto ao teor das parcerias. Por fim, os dados permitiram a validação e aprimoramento de um script que faz a coleta automática de dados e permite uma visualização atualizada do capitalismo de vigilância na educação brasileira.

This article examines the context and possible sociopolitical effects of the adoption of corporate communication technology infrastructures and services in educational contexts, particularly in the higher education sector in Brazil. We analyze the specific case of public universities in Brazil and their agreements with Google for the use of its application suite. We aim to refelct on the economics and politics of information, based on the mechanisms of data control and surveillance, and to question the emergence of new forms of knowledge and the exercise of power.

Despite substantial evidence supporting the efficacy of prebiotics for promoting host health and stress resilience, few experiments present evidence documenting the dynamic changes in microbial ecology and fecal microbially modified metabolites over time. Furthermore, the literature reports a lack of reproducible effects of prebiotics on specific bacteria and bacterial-modified metabolites. The current experiments examined whether consumption of diets enriched in prebiotics (galactooligosaccharides (GOS) and polydextrose (PDX)), compared to a control diet, would consistently impact the gut microbiome and microbially modified bile acids over time and between two research sites. Male Sprague Dawley rats were fed control or prebiotic diets for several weeks, and their gut microbiomes and metabolomes were examined using 16S rRNA gene sequencing and untargeted LC-MS/MS analysis. Dietary prebiotics altered the beta diversity, relative abundance of bacterial genera, and microbially modified bile acids over time. PICRUSt2 analyses identified four inferred functional metabolic pathways modified by the prebiotic diet. Correlational network analyses between inferred metabolic pathways and microbially modified bile acids revealed deoxycholic acid as a potential network hub. All these reported effects were consistent between the two research sites, supporting the conclusion that dietary prebiotics robustly changed the gut microbial ecosystem. Consistent with our previous work demonstrating that GOS/PDX reduces the negative impacts of stressor exposure, we propose that ingesting a diet enriched in prebiotics facilitates the development of a health-promoting gut microbial ecosystem.

Public educational systems and institutions have increased their adoption of proprietary educational platforms offered by large private corporations. Platforms now critically mediate content creation and storage, interaction and communication, record-keeping and institutional memory. This platformization of education has led to significant risks to data collection and privacy, technological lock-in and dependency, and educational governance. In this article, the principles of Open Education are presented as a framework to guide the adoption of technological platforms and services in education. Data and examples are presented to demonstrate the significant scope of the integration of platforms within the context of South American higher education and show how it has negatively impacted educational governance. The article concludes with a presentation of alternative models for the adoption of platforms in education guided by public values and not solely by cost savings that reflect a disregard for their adverse impacts on educational governance, privacy, and autonomy.

Recursos Educacionais Abertos (REA) e práticas associadas são regularmente identificados como catalisadores de maior equidade, inclusão e acesso a educação superior. Apresentamos uma investigação sobre a produção e disseminação de recursos educacionais em oito Instituições de Ensino Superior que fazem parte do Sistema Universidade Aberta do Brasil (UAB). Partindo de entrevistas, grupos focais e de análise documental, buscamos entender a sua trajetória, atividades e perspectivas em relação a elementos-chave da adoção de REA. Identificamos interesse e anseio pela abertura de recursos, práticas colaborativas e intercâmbio informal de recursos, o uso de licenças abertas em repositórios locais, e tentativas na construção de políticas institucionais relacionadas a REA. Por outro lado, identificamos dificuldades com relação a institucionalização da UAB e da educação a distância, limitado apoio técnico e financeiro para colaboração e reuso, e falta de políticas governamentais e institucionais para compartilhamento e reuso. A falta de articulação resulta em práticas informais e isoladas. A não ser quando fomentado pelo governo federal, a maioria das iniciativas são locais e muitas, de curto prazo. Finalizamos com uma discussão sobre atividades recentes para promoção de abertura, incluindo um modelo único para licenciamento de recursos, mecanismos para compartilhamento de recursos e formação continuada sobre abertura.

Este estudo apresenta um extrato da pesquisa participativa do grupo “Formação Docente e as Tecnologias de Informação e Comunicação”, ligado ao Laboratório de Tecnologias Educacionais da Universidade Federal Fluminense. Evidencia a criação dos Polos de Apoio Presencial da Universidade Aberta do Brasil, seus coordenadores de polo e a implementação das avaliações oficiais destes polos na Região Nordeste. Os dados desta pesquisa que foi realizada em três regiões: Sul, Norte e Nordeste, foram se compondo numa trajetória que incluiu entrevistas pré-estruturadas, visitas cruzadas, questionários de avaliação, acompanhamento em ambiente virtual Moodle, leituras de relatórios e análises de dados. Delimitaremos neste artigo um panorama geral sobre a região Nordeste, para situarmos o contexto educacional no qual os polos presenciais se localizam, além de um breve contexto histórico das políticas públicas em que surgiu a Universidade Aberta do Brasil. O resultado permitiu identificar a estrutura, o funcionamento e as demandas dos polos dos Estados do Maranhão, Rio Grande do Norte e Piauí participantes dessa pesquisa, representando a região como um todo: o perfil dos 28 (vinte e oito) coordenadores de polo e principalmente os aspectos básicos para a avaliação de polo qualificativa. A pesquisa além de trazer contribuições para a qualificação da avaliação dos polos de apoio presencial pode contribuir para reflexões sobre a definição de políticas públicas direcionadas a formação de professores, em especial, aquelas que se utilizam da educação à distância, como o Sistema Universidade Aberta do Brasil.

Open Educational Resources (OERs) have led to a new outlook on the circulation and production of educational content in print and digital forms. OERs have become an important element in the search for emerging and sustainable models for education, including initiatives such as open textbooks. In spite of its increasing popularity around the world, we still know little with regard to the academic production around OERs. This study presents a bibliometric analysis of the Portuguese-language production on OERs published until May 2015 and gathered from multiple databases and journals. The study presents a thematic analysis of the identified works and their association networks for institutions, and provides a critical outlook regarding academic production for OERs in Portuguese. The study aims both to contribute to the visibility of works published in less-prominent languages in academia such as Portuguese and to boost collaboration between authors who often discuss similar aspects of OERs but might be unaware of others working in similar areas of interest. _____________________________________________________ Los estudios sobre Recursos Educativos en Abierto (REA) proporcionan nuevas perspectivas sobre la circulación y producción de contenidos educativos impresos y digitales. Los REA son componentes importantes en la búsqueda de modelos educativos emergentes y sostenibles, como, por ejemplo, los libros didácticos abiertos. A pesar de su popularidad en todo el mundo, poco se sabe acerca de la producción académica en portugués con uso de REA. Este estudio tiene como objetivo describir y analizar la literatura académica en el idioma portugués sobre REA publicada hasta mayo de 2015, usando como fuente de consulta diversas bases de datos y revistas científicas que utilizan técnicas bibliométricas. El estudio analiza los trabajos identificados por temáticas y redes de instituciones, y se presenta una crítica sobre el estado del arte de la producción académica en idioma portugués con uso de REA. De esta forma, este estudio pretende contribuir al aumento de la visibilidad de la producción académica en lenguas menos prominentes como el portugués, y fomentar la integración y la colaboración entre autores que frecuentemente abordan la misma temática ignorando los estudios sobre REA desarrollados – o en desarrollo - por otros.

School technology integration rarely begins with school or educator choice. It is part of a wider context where external and internal factors have direct influence on the goals and tools that are adopted over time. The objective of this study is to investigate the systemic conditions that contribute or inhibit the development of different activities by teachers making use of new media. We compiled a list of well-known conditions for technology integration success and mapped these in the historical and culturally bound perspective of activity theory (cultural historical activity theory). We conducted a multiple case study analysis of four schools, public and private. The results point to unique and distinctive scenarios even when homogeneity would be expected, reinforcing the argument that material conditions do not determine pedagogical outcomes nor do they determine changes in practice. Beyond this, the study proposes a methodology that can help elicit tensions in technology integration, pointing to avenues for school development.

The COVID-19 pandemic process, practice-oriented areas such as nursing education were more concerned. It becomes essential to evaluate whether online teaching methods are as applicable, acceptable, and effective as in-class teaching for a psychiatric nursing course and to assess students' attitudes toward distance education. This study aimed to evaluate the teaching methods practiced in distance education in a psychiatric nursing course and students' attitudes toward distance education. A descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted among final-year nursing students at a Turkish university using online survey (n: 144). It has been concluded that students use mobile devices more and have internet problems in distance education. The student's total score on the Distance Education Attitudes Scale (DEAS) was 52.78 ± 18.61 (moderate). The attitude scores toward distance education were evaluated as negative and below the medium level in all dimensions. The difference between the students' internet access issues in distance education, their ability to use technology in distance education and their evaluation of the distance education system, and the score of the DEAS and its sub-dimensions scores were significant (p < 0.05). Among the teaching methods adopted in distance education, the methods that the students evaluated as the most effective were the presentation of psychiatric case examples from movies (85.4%), lectures (83.3%), and psychiatric animations that summarized the subject (81.3%). The use of visual and auditory methods together in distance education improves the effectiveness of the course.

O artigo examina o contexto e possíveis efeitos sociopolíticos da adoção de infraestruturas e serviços de tecnologias de comunicação corporativos no ambiente educacional e universitário brasileiro. Tomando o caso específico dos acordos entre universidades públicas brasileiras e a suíte de aplicativos educacionais da empresa Google, objetivamos refletir sobre sua economia política informacional, baseada em mecanismos de controle e vigilância dos dados digitais, e problematizar a emergência de novas formas de conhecimento e exercício do poder.
