In this paper the results of modern scientific researches are analyzed and the possibilities of the method of establishing the amount of K+ and Na+ in the vitreous body (VB) of a person for solving problems of practical forensic medicine are studied. The aim of the work. To investigate the possibilities of accurately establishing the time since death (TSD) by determining the amount of electrolytes (K+ and Na+) of human VB. Materials and methods. VB samples from 120 deaths due to cardiovascular pathology (exclusion criteria: eyeball injuries, traumatic brain injury, exogenous intoxications) were studied. The study of the test material was performed on an analyzer of electrolytes and gases ROCHE COBAS B121. The main task was to analyze and establish the dependence of the change in the amount of K+ and Na+ of the VB on the TSD. Statistical processing of the obtained results was performed using Statistica software. Results. In all cases, on average in the first 6 hours, its amount was 7,4 mmol/l, after 6-12 hours – 9,8 mmol/l, after 12-18 hours – 12,1 mmol/l, after 18-24 hours – 16,5 mmol/l, after 24-36 hours – 20,2 mmol/l, after 36-48 hours – 25,3 mmol/l. The amount of Na+ ranged from 120 to 200 mmol/l. Conclusions. It is established that the number of electrolytes of the VB of the human eye naturally changes with increasing postmortem interval, which allows to use this technique to determine the TSD. In particular, the accuracy of setting the DNS by the number of K+ – 4-6 hours between 1 and 18 hours after death. There is an increase in the range of accuracy at a later date of the TSD.

This study used steps of prelminary research, initial information collecting, planning, initial product format development, initial trials, product revisions, field trials , product revisions, preliminary form of product, preliminary field testing, main product revisions, field trials, refinement of final products and implementation. The instruments used questionnaires, observation sheets expert judgment questionmaires and test questions the data analysis technique used the percentage and t - test with the SPSS peogram. The results showed that moodle – based tet material development can improve the effectivenees and effeiciency of daily exams.

The goal of this inquiry activity is to evaluate a variety of skin-care products on simulated skin cells using Orbeez, a brand of superabsorbent polymers. These small beads can quickly absorb water but will dry out in the air, thus perfectly representing our own skin cells. This property makes Orbeez an acceptable model for human skin, and test material for evaluating various skin-care products. Students will observe the quantitative changes that happened to the mass of the samples to determine the percent change. They will also observe the qualitative changes that happened throughout the lab investigation and record their observations in a lab notebook. After completing the experiment, students will create a presentation of the quantitative and qualitative results.

The environmental fate of polymers has attracted growing attention in the academic, industrial, and regulatory communities as well as in the general public as global production and use of polymers continue to increase. Biodegradable polymers especially have drawn significant interest. Polymer biodegradation literature published over the past decade was reviewed to compare test methods commonly used for evaluating polymer biodegradation, and to identify key areas for improvement. This paper examines key aspects of study design for polymer biodegradation such as physical form of the test material, use of appropriate reference materials, selection of test systems, and advantages and limitations of various analytical methods for determining biodegradation. Those aspects of study design are critical for determining the outcome of polymer biodegradation studies. This paper identifies several knowledge gaps for assessing polymer biodegradation and provides four key recommendations. (1) develop standardized guidelines for each specific environmental matrix (compost, activated sludge, marine environments, etc.) that can used for all polymer types, (2) develop accelerated biodegradation test methods and predictive methods for polymers, (3) develop an integrated analytical approach using multiple simple, and effective analytical methods, and (4) develop new frameworks for assessing the overall persistence of polymers and are accepted by the greater scientific community.

OBJECTIVE Congenital aural atresia causes severe conductive hearing loss disturbing auditory development. The differences in speech recognition were investigated between bilateral and unilateral aural atresia. DESIGN The maximum speech recognition scores (SRSs) were compared between patients with bilateral and unilateral aural atresia. In patients with unilateral aural atresia, the maximum SRSs were compared between the atretic and unaffected ears. Furthermore, the correct response rates for test material monosyllables were compared with those of patients with sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL), which had been previously obtained. STUDY SAMPLE Twenty-four patients with aural atresia (8 bilateral, and 16 unilateral) participated. Background: The development of the global digit-in-noise test requires optimization of each language version on a group of normal-hearing native-speakers. An alternative solution may be an adaptive optimization during ongoing tests in a group of subjects with unknown hearing impairments. The objective of the research was to compare the optimization results between these groups. Methods: Digit triplets consisting of three pseudo-randomly selected digits were presented in speech-shaped noise at various signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs), according to the protocol of the final speech test. Digit-specific and position-specific speech reception thresholds (SRTs) were determined and compared between groups. Results: The study sample consisted of 82 subjects, 26 normal-hearing subjects and 56 patients with diverse hearing disorders. Statistically significant differences in digit-specific SRTs between the control and the investigated group were obtained for three digits in continuous noise (digits 0, 4, 6, p-value of 0.04, 0.03, 0.05) and two in modulated noise (digits 1 and 6, p-value of 0.05 and 0.01). An analysis including only ears with SRTs within the range of the normal hearing control group showed no statistically significant differences between digits. Conclusion: Optimization of speech material can be carried out in a group of subjects with unknown hearing impairments, provided the ears with scores outside normal range are rejected.

Keychain cranioplasty plate product has the potential to be produced using the blanking process because it is faster, low-cost, and requires low-energy consumption compared to other mechanical operations. This research aimed to find the effect of material thickness and type on the sheared edge characteristics of keychain cranioplasty plate using the blanking process to meet the international health standard. Experimental research conducted using an eccentric press machine with 40 tons capacity. This research’s test material parameters of titanium (Ti-6AL-4V) and stainless steel (SS-316L) were the 0.5 mm, 0.6 mm, and 0.8 mm thickness with a maximum blanking velocity of 3000 mm/min and 2.5% punch-die clearance. Then, the blanking products were observed using a digital microscope. The results showed that the optimum blanking product quality was found in the titanium (Ti-6AL-4V) and stainless steel (SS-316L) materials with 0.6 mm thickness because it had stable sheared edge characteristics in each zone compared to other variations.

A feasibility interlaboratory comparison (ILC) was organised by the European Commission’s (EC) Joint Research Centre (JRC) on the determination of the mass fraction of total cow’s milk protein in baked cookies. The ILC was organised to support Commission Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 on the provision of food information to consumers, including the mandatory allergen food labelling and the harmonisation of measurement procedures used for food allergen analysis. An incurred baked cookie was prepared at the JRC and samples were sent to participants for analysis. The laboratories were asked to report their results as “mass fraction of total cow’s milk protein in baked cookies”. This common well-defined measurand was used for the first time in such an ILC to assess the equivalence of measurement results. Homogeneity and stability of the test material were demonstrated to be adequate. An indicative assigned value was established using the JRC single-laboratory validated method based on liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (LC–MS), independently from the results reported by the participants. Twenty-three laboratories from the European Network of Food Allergen Detection Laboratories (ENFADL), representing 20 European Union (EU) Member States, reported results. Their laboratory performance was assessed using the percent difference Di score. The participating laboratories applied either enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) or LC–MS. Even though the majority of the laboratories used commercially available ELISA test kits, a significant scatter of all the reported results was observed. This indicates that further harmonisation is required for measurement procedures aiming to determine potentially allergenic constituents in food.

Foxtail millet has the potential to be developed as a healthier food alternative because of its high nutritional value. Disease such as leaf blight caused by Bipolaris setariae is one of the limiting factors in Foxtail millet productivity. One of the efforts to control the pathogen is by utilizing resistant varieties. In this study, two candidate varieties and two germplasm accessions were tested to determine the level of resistance to Bipolaris setariae leaf blight. The study was arranged based on a complete randomized design with six replications. Each test material was inoculated with the spore suspension at 4 WAP. Disease intensity was observed based on the disease scoring at 7, 9, and 11 WAP. AUDPC value is calculated based on the intensity of the attack at a particular observation time. Grain weight was recorded and statistically analyzed. The two candidate varieties of foxtail millet Pagamogo and Tedamude from Nagekeo Regency showed a moderately resistant response to leaf blight and had the lowest AUDPC values of 907.69 and 912.31. The highest increase in AUDPC values was observed in the initial observation period at 0-49 DAP.

The aim of the research. To compare the ovicidal efficiency of insectoacaricides of different composition and manufacturers on flea eggs (Ctenocephalides spp.) for treatemnt of the premises where animals live. Materials and methods of the research. The study was conducted on the basis of the clinic of veterinary medicine "Vetservice" Sumy, laboratory "Veterinary Pharmacy" and "Innovative technologies and safety and quality of livestock products" of Sumy National Agrarian University. The ovicidal effect of insectoacaricides on flea eggs of Ctenocephalides spp. was studied. Ctenocephalides spp. eggs were selected from the pet bedding on which the animal spended most of its time, namely the cats. The studied material was selected with a cosmetic brush. Ctenocephalides spp. eggs were placed into a Petri dish of 10 eggs per each dish. The test material was introduced with a dental probe. There were 4 test dishes, which were treated with insectoacaricides (each test dish was treated with a separate drug) and 1 control dish with no treatment. Microscopy was conducted under a light microscope with magnification X8 of each egg, with following treatment of each egg with insectoacaricides. Monitoring was conducted in 24, 48 and 72 hours after treatment. Results. Research has shown that drugs which demonstrated 100 % ovicidal effectiveness were Sentry Home (pyriproxyfen – 0.02 %, permethrin – 0.2 %, n-Octyl Bicyclohepten – 1.0 %) in 24 hours and Neostomazan (CEVA)(transmix – 5.0 g, tetramethrin – 0.5 g) in 72 hours. Conclusions. Insectoacaricide drug Sentry Home (pyriproxyfen – 0.02 %, permethrin – 0.2 %, n-Octyl Bicyclohepten – 1.0 %), used for the treatment of the premises where the animals live, showed the most pronounced ovicidal effect in 24 hours.

Purpose: In this study, a human application test was performed to verify the skin improvement effect of Hippophae rhamnoides (H. rhamnoides ) fruit oil and hot-water extracts to improve wrinkles around the eyes, facial cheek lifting, skin elasticity, skin density, skin tone, spots and pigmentation as ingredients for cosmetics. To meet this purpose, this study has focused on the development and commercialization of new natural ingredients. Methods: This study conducted a human application test to verify the skin improvement effect of H. rhamnoides fruit oil and hot-water extracts in 20 adult women aged 30-60 years old. By applying ANTERA 3D, we evaluated wrinkles around the eyes, improved facial cheek lifting, and spots and pigmentation, evaluated skin elasticity improvement using a Ballistometer, and evaluated skin density improvement by applying DUB® SkinScanner. The skin tone improvement was evaluated by applying a photometer and an anterior eye imaging system. Results: After 3 and 6 weeks of treatment, the rates of improvement at the areas where the test material was applied were respectively 6.75% and 12.86% at the wrinkles around the eyes, 31.15% and 44.63% for facial cheek lifting, 2.46% and 4.28% for skin elasticity, 6.12% and 9.63% for skin density, 1.12% and 1.63% for skin tone, and 1.60% and 2.46% for spots and pigmentation. Conclusion: As a result, the effects of H. rhamnoides fruit oil and hot-water extracts for reducing skin wrinkles, blemishes, and pigmentation, and improving facial cheek lifting, skin elasticity, density, and skin tone were verified. We believe that H. rhamnoides fruit oil and hot-water extracts can be used as a new skin anti-aging cosmetic ingredient.

This paper explained heavy metals and chemical properties from the Cisadane River in Tangerang City. A survey method was used to determine the place for sampling the test material. Water measurement is carried out in situ and laboratory tests. Data retrieval was done by purposive sampling determining three observation stations, namely in the Taman Gajah Tunggal park area (station1), Babakan Cikokol residential area (station 2), and Karawaci paper mill area (station 3). The analysis was carried out exactly using analysis. Namely, analysis carried out in the laboratory. The parameters observed were COD, phosphate, DO, BOD, pH. Results of this study informed the water quality in the Cisadane City river did not meet Class II Water Quality Standards based on Government Regulation Number 82, the year 2001. The COD content only meets class II water quality standards at stations 1 and 3. BOD and phosphate content is high and exceeds class II water quality standards. Heavy metal content still meets the water quality standard threshold with a value of Cd less than 0.01 mg/L, Cu less than 0.02 mg/L, Pb less than 0.03mg/L, and Cr less than 0.05mg/L. Zn content exceeds the water quality standard threshold at station three and meets water quality standards at stations 1 and 2 with a value of less than 0.05mg/L.

In this experiment, Jimai 22 was used as test material to investigate the impacts of acetochlor on the growth characteri*stics of dryland wheat and its residue in wheat grain and soil under field conditions. The results showed that acetochlor at a dosage of 750 g hm−2 could effectively control weeds in wheat fields and benefit the growth of wheat in dryland. The plant height, ear length, number of tillers, aboveground and underground dry weight were heavier compared to the control after the application of acetochlor. From the jointing period to the filling period, the residual amount of acetochlor in the 0–20 cm and 20–40 cm soil layers was gradually reduced in the overall change, and the residual amount of acetochlor in the 0–20 cm soil layer in each growth period was more than the residual that of in the 20–40 cm soil layer. At the time of harvest, the residual amount of acetochlor in wheat grains was lower than the maximum allowable residue limit (MRL) value of acetochlor on wheat recommended by the United States. In addition, the residue of acetochlor in the soil of wheat field was also very small, all of which were lower than 0.02 mg kg−1. It can be seen that the application of acetochlor is safe for wheat field soil and humans if the wheat is applied once after sowing, at the dosage is 750 g hm−2.

The release of long-lived radionuclides 14C and 36Cl , which are key products for assessment of disposal variants (near-surface, buried, or deep) of irradiated graphite, was analyzed. Test material was irradiated graphite from IUGR and RBMK-1000 reactors. Unlike other types of radioactive waste (RAW), graphite has the developed pore structure and, consequently, its effective surface area in contact with the leaching medium is increased in comparison with non-porous materials. With due to regard for the graphite pore structure, the mechanism describing the leaching process is proposed and experimentally substantiated. The parameters numerically characterizing graphite RAW in terms of leaching resistance, independent of the geometric shape of individual fragments (samples) are also introduced. The proposed parameters and an algorithm for their determination are recommended by the authors for use in predictive calculations of the release of radionuclides from graphite under conditions of long-term storage/disposal.

A B S T R A C TTrials in pre-clinical trials are very complex multidisciplinary studies. Extrapolatingdata from animals to humans requires information from many fields of science. Frompre-clinical trials, more detailed information and data on efficacy and safety wereobtained, especially at doses equivalent to doses in humans, and the presence orabsence of cumulative effects and whether these effects could return to normal(reversible) after the administration of the test material was stopped. This test canbe used to predict the negative impact on humans if he is exposed to the materialfor a long time.

This study aims to measure the level of consumer preference for organoleptic factors of pindang fish produced from the traditional scavenger business of Dedawang Hamlet, Telukjati Dawang Village, Tambak Sub-district, Bawean Island - Gresik Regency.The research was conducted from July to September 2020 involving 221 respondents from various backgrounds as panelists to assess the level of preference for pindang fish. The test material came from one of the scaling efforts carefully selected by the researcher. The organoleptic test includes 8 (eight) things, namely: taste, deviated odor (indication of deterioration), specific aroma, color, appearance, consistency, packaging aesthetics, and durability. The results showed that the durability factor (score 93.57), product aesthetics (score 90.48), smell (score 86.35), and distinctive aroma (score 81.35) were the main attractions for consumers buying pindang fish. While the appearance (score 53.07), consistency (score 63.51), color (score 65.41), and taste (score 68.17) are things that need to be improved to increase attractiveness to consumers. Purpose. The study purpose was to differentiate sunflower lines by cold tolerance and economically valuable traits for breeding hybrids with an increased adaptability to environmental stressors at the initial ontogenetic stages.Material and methods. Lines from a working collection of the Laboratory of Sunflower Breeding and Genetics of Plant Production Institute Industry named after V.Ya. Yuriev of NAAS (sterility fixers and fertility restorers) were taken as the test material. The field experiments were carried out in the scientific crop rotation fields of the Institute (township Elitne, Kharkivska Oblast, Kharkivskyi Raion). The field experiments were planned and conducted in accordance with conventional methods, with due account for the zonal features of sunflower cultivation.In the laboratory, the breeding material was assessed for tolerance to low temperatures by cold germination of sunflower seeds, with due account for the temperature mode peculiarities (5°C) and the germination length of sunflower line and hybrid seeds in a refrigerated thermostat (10 days). Cold tolerance was determined by germinability of sunflower seeds at 5оС related to the control (25оС). The resistance of breeding material to the causative agent of downy mildew was assessed in the laboratory by the method developed by YeM Dolgova et al. The oil content in seeds was determined by nuclear magnetic resonance. Data were statistically processed using Excel software.Results and discussion. Using cold germination of seeds harvested in 2016-2018, we differentiated sunflower lines by tolerance to low temperatures at the initial ontogenetic stages.The low temperature tolerance of lines – sterility fixers (sterile analogues) was found to range 4.7% to 88.8%. A high cold tolerance was noted in lines Skh 93 A (88.8%), Skh 1006 A (79.3%), and Skh 777 A (76.4%). The cold tolerance of sunflower lines – fertility restorers was revealed to vary in the range of 11.3–93.6%. A high tolerance to low temperatures was noted in lines Kh 720 V (93.6%), Kh 4913 V (77.9%), and Kh 15146 V (62.0%).The field results characterized the lines - sterility fixers (sterile analogues) and fertility restorers by breeding characteristics and their year-to-year variability. The valuable economic features, morphological traits and resistance to the downy mildew pathogen are described for lines – sources of cold tolerance.Conclusions. By the laboratory method of cold germination, the sunflower lines were differentiated by tolerance to low temperatures at the initial ontogenetic stages. Five lines with a high cold tolerance - Skh 93 A (88.8%), Skh 1006 A (79.3%), Skh 777 A (76.4%), Kh 720 V (93.6%), and Kh 4913 V (77.9%) - were identified as sources of this trait. The genotypic diversity of the sunflower lines was evaluated by breeding characteristics and their year-to-year variability. The squeeze flow behavior of a shear thinning fluid was studied in this paper using squeeze tack technique. The test material was firstly squeezed out between two parallel circular plates, then it was relaxed for 1.5min and finally was separated at a predefined pulling velocity. From the flow curves obtained in the squeeze tack experiments, the rheological parameters, including yield stress in tension and in squeeze, have been calculated. The results show that the squeeze-tack test can be used for the analysis and evaluation of shear thinning fluids. Although the experimental results may not be considered complete, it can be seen that the stresses and tensile stresses have a linear relationship witch goes through the origin.

Oplosan liquor is one form of illegal drink that is often found in police raids in various areas. The purpose of this study was to determine the ethanol and methanol levels in mixed liquor obtained from the results of the Sector Police raids in Cipayung District, East Jakarta, in 2017. This study was a cross-sectional descriptive study. Determination of ethanol and methanol levels is done by gas chromatography at the Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta Health Laboratory. The sample in this study amounted to 14 samples. Based on the research obtained Ethanol content from test material (10.08-50.14)% v/v with an average (28,39±15,09)% v/v and methanol content is (0.08-2.04)% v / v with an average of (0,81±0,72)%v/v. Samples whose ethanol content is equivalent to alcoholic groups A, B, and C are 0%, six bottles (42.86%), and eight bottles (51.13%). All samples contained methanol with levels> 0.01% and were not packaged according to the requirements of the Regulation of the Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency No. 14/2016 (BPOM). It is suggested to do a follow-up in counseling related to mixed alcohol, especially for adolescents in this area. Further research is suggested to identify illegal drugs in the confiscated alcoholic drinks from this area. It is recommended to the Cipayung District Police to clean the area from mixed alcohol.

espanolEste trabajo tuvo como objetivo medir el efecto del eugenol sobre la vida util de una salsa picante a partir de chile jalapeno (Capsicum annuum) y papaya (Carica papaya). Se utilizo clavo de olor como material de prueba, empleando diferentes formas de extraccion del eugenol como aceite esencial. Se evaluo su uso como preservante en una salsa, mediante metodos acelerados durante 30 dias a temperatura de 280 C ± 20 C y se comparo con el benzoato de sodio (testigo) segun normativa del Codex Alimentarius (250 mg/kg). Los resultados determinaron que el eugenol presento efecto inhibitorio del deterioro de la salsa picante prolongado su vida util, lo que indica su potencial aplicacion en la industria alimentaria, convirtiendolo en una alternativa de conservacion natural, cuyo uso ayudaria en la disminucion de riesgos toxicologicos aportados por conservantes sinteticos. EnglishThis work aimed to measure the effect of eugenol on the shelf life of a hot sauce from jalapeno pepper (Capsicum annuum) and papaya (Carica papaya). Cloves were tested as test material, using different forms of eugenol extraction as essential oil. Its use as a preservative in a sauce was evaluated by means of accelerated methods for 30 days at a temperature of 280 C ± 20 C and was compared with sodium benzoate (control) according to the Codex Alimentarius regulations (250 mg / kg). The results determined that eugenol had an inhibitory effect on the change in hot sauce, prolonged its shelf life, indicating its potential application in the food industry, making it a natural preservation alternative, the use of which will help to decrease the toxicological risks provided by synthetic preservatives.

Annotation. Despite significant advances in surgery to overcome purulent complications, the development of acute paraproctitis remains an extremely pressing problem, accounting for up to 4% of surgical pathology. This article is devoted to the study of the microbial spectrum of pathogens that contribute to the development of acute paraproctitis and Fournier gangrene, as the extreme degree of exposure of the subcutaneous adipose tissue of the external genitalia and perianal area in men. To study the microbial spectrum of pathogens of this pathology used the rules of intake, transportation of the studied material according to the Order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine No. 234 on the organization of prevention of nosocomial infections in obstetric hospitals. The identification of isolated cultures was performed considering morphological, cultural and biochemical characteristics. Biochemical typing was performed using PLIVA diagnostic test systems – Lachema a. s. Brno, Czech Republic (NEFERMtest 24, STAPHYtest 16, ENTEROtest 24). To evaluate the effectiveness of the decontamination effect of ozonized sodium chloride solution, a quantitative suspension test was introduced with the introduction of a suspension of microorganisms isolated from the test material, followed by seeding on dense nutrient media to calculate the number of viable cells to reduce the exposure to the specified ex ante. The purpose of the study was to study the disinfecting effect of ozonated sodium chloride solution to improve the effectiveness of treatment of patients with acute paraproctitis. The results of the study indicate that the use of ozonated sodium chloride solution has significant advantages over the use of 0.02% solution of furacilin and decasan in the treatment of patients with acute paraproctitis and significantly reduces the risk of complications and accelerates the recovery of patients. The results of the research prove that the ozonated solution of sodium chloride in two dilutions (1:1), in contrast to other antiseptics, retains bactericidal action against the whole spectrum of bacteria that are most often involved in the development of acute paraproctitis. Thus, we consider it appropriate to include this solution in the scheme of complex treatment of patients with acute paraproctitis.

The Indonesian Nurses Competency Test (UKNI) is a process to determine whether a person is worthy to become a nurse in Indonesia. In 2018 the UKNI test was carried out by 55,573 total participants with a pass percentage of 47.15%. This figure is quite low considering the need for nurses in Indonesia which is still quite high. The unpreparedness of participants in facing tests, either readiness in terms of test material or in terms of mentality is one of the causes of the low pass rate of UKNI. Online Nurse Test (ONT) UKNI is expected to be one of the solutions to answer the above problems. ONT UKNI is a mobile application that has been equipped with learning material, try out, and discussion features aimed to help School of Nursing students in facing UKNI test. The development of the ONT UKNI application uses the modified waterfall model and uses the observation approach and literature review in collecting data and materials which will then be used for the development of the ONT UKNI application. ONT UKNI offers new sets of try out questions and discussion feature that may useful for users. The effect of deforming cutting (DC) on structural and phase transformations in iron and steels 35 and U8 is studied with the help of scanning optical and transmission electron microscopy. It is shown that with an increase in carbon content test material structure and phase composition become more complex.

Background Previous research has found that when the location of a talker was varied and an auditory prompt indicated the location of the talker, the addition of visual information produced a significant and large improvement in speech understanding for listeners with bilateral cochlear implants (CIs) but not with a unilateral CI. Presumably, the sound-source localization ability of the bilateral CI listeners allowed them to orient to the auditory prompt and benefit from visual information for the subsequent target sentence. Purpose The goal of this project was to assess the robustness of previous research by using a different test environment, a different CI, different test material, and a different response measure. Research Design Nine listeners fit with bilateral CIs were tested in a simulation of a crowded restaurant. Auditory–visual (AV) sentence material was presented from loudspeakers and video monitors at 0, +90, and −90 degrees. Each trial started with the presentation of an auditory alerting phrase from one of the three target loudspeakers followed by an AV target sentence from that loudspeaker/monitor. On each trial, the two nontarget monitors showed the speaker mouthing a different sentence. Sentences were presented in noise in four test conditions: one CI, one CI plus vision, bilateral CIs, and bilateral CIs plus vision. Results Mean percent words correct for the four test conditions were: one CI, 43%; bilateral CI, 60%; one CI plus vision, 52%; and bilateral CI plus vision, 84%. Visual information did not significantly improve performance in the single CI conditions but did improve performance in the bilateral CI conditions. The magnitude of improvement for two CIs versus one CI in the AV condition was approximately twice that for two CIs versus one CI in the auditory condition. Conclusions Our results are consistent with previous data showing the large value of bilateral implants in a complex AV listening environment. The results indicate that the value of bilateral CIs for speech understanding is significantly underestimated in standard, auditory-only, single-speaker, test environments.

Therefore it is necessary to make an effective service strategy to be able to provide fast and accurate services for users of assessment services. Online objective test as a solution to the problem. We designed and fabricated a sputtering source with a simple structure to extract metal beam for the RAON heavy ion accelerator. As a test material, Bi with a mass number of 209 was selected, and a beam extraction experiment was conducted. A Bi25+ beam with a current of 3 euA was extracted during the preliminary beam extraction experiment. We confirmed that impurity control and a high-power comparative experiment are necessary for future experiments.

The requirements for the recycling of construction and demolition waste are tightening, and companies in the waste business have improved their performance to comply with new legislation. Construction and demolition waste includes various recyclable materials, such as metals, plastics and wood. However, effective material recovery requires functional and reliable technology for sorting in order to separate waste fractions into useful secondary materials or applications. This paper concerns the mechanical sorting efficiency of construction and demolition waste with a commercial mechanical sorting equipment consisting of a roller screening and an air separation unit. Sorting ability is studied with pre-sorted and crushed test material. Sieve analysis of pre-sorted test material is used to define particle size distribution before sorting. The quality criteria of construction and demolition waste vary greatly, depending on a number of factors which pose a challenge to the operation of the sorting system. The studied sorting equipment was found to be reliable for producing nine different fractions from pre-sorted and crushed material mixtures. The requirements for the purity level of the fractions and the profitability of utilization define the number of fractions to be sorted cost-efficiently. Typically, a compromise between cost and purity level has to be found.

Wood is both renewable and natural, which are qualities that make it both environmentally sustainable and useful in terms of development. However, wood also has certain inherent defects, such as its tendencies to shrink when dried and rot when wet. These defects restrict the use and popularity of lumber as a building material. In this paper, the effects of beeswax impregnation on the dimensional stability of wood were studied. Pieces of African padauk (Pterocarpus soyauxii) (20 mm × 20 mm × 20 mm) were used as the test material. The wood was treated at a temperature of 120 °C for periods of 3 h or 6 h. Measurements of weight gain rate, size expansion coefficient, and contact angle of the control samples were compared with samples treated with beeswax for 3 h and 6 h to explain macroscopic changes in wood. The effects of beeswax impregnation were compared using scanning electron microscopy, thermal weight loss characteristic analysis, and functional group analysis. The results indicated that, to some extent, beeswax impregnation improved the dimensional stability of wood and remarkably enhanced its surface hydrophobicity.

Background Cow’s milk allergy is one of the most reported food allergies in Europe. To help patients suffering from food allergies it is important to be able to detect milk in different foods. An analytical method that is gaining interest in the field of allergen detection is ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, where the analyte is a target peptide. When these peptide biomarkers are selected, the effect of food processing should be taken into account to allow a robust detection method. Objective This work aims at identifying such processing stable peptide markers for milk for the ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry based detection of food allergens in different food products. Method Milk-incurred food materials that underwent several processing techniques were produced. This was followed by establishing tryptic peptide profiles from each matrix using ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography-high resolution mass spectrometry. Results A careful comparison of peptide profiles/intensities and the use of specific exclusion criteria resulted in the selection of eight peptide biomarkers suitable for application in ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry based milk detection methods. One of these markers is an α-lactalbumin specific peptide, which has been determined to be stable in different incurred materials for the first time. Conclusions To our knowledge, this is the first systematic and experimentally based approach for the selection of suitable milk peptide biomarkers robust toward multiple, often applied food processing techniques for milk. Ensuring the exact knowledge of the food processing circumstances by starting from well-defined raw material and using fully controlled settings to produce incurred test material allowed the construction of a peptide database with robust markers. These robust markers can be used for the development of a robust detection method for milk in different food matrixes. Highlights To facilitate food allergen detection in processed food, processing stable peptide markers for the detection of milk in food products were determined using Ultra-High Performance Liquid Chromatography-High Resolution Mass Spectrometry on well-defined raw materials which were processed in accordance with often used processing techniques.

Mutagenesis is a potential tool to be employed in crop improvement and may offer greater opportunities for generating suitable genetic variability. Ethyl methane sulphonate (EMS) treatments were quite effective in bringing a reduction in different parameters. In this experiment, the seeds of Vigna radiata PDM-54 were used as the test material. The presoaked seeds were treated with 1% EMS for 4, 6, and 8 hours. After treatment seeds were washed in running water and sown along with control in three replicates. Data were recorded on different morphological and cytological parameters in order to assess the mutagenic effect of EMS. The germination percentage of treated seeds displayed a sharp decrease with the increase in treatment duration. The germination was very poor at 6 and 8-hour treatment. The survival percentage was also found to be inversely proportional to the duration of treatment. The yield per plant displayed a gradual decrease with the increase in treatment duration. It indicates that EMS can be used as an effective mutagen to generate enough variability to be subsequently exploited in any crop improvement program.

Research the effect of andaliman leaf extract on mice ovaries, volume test material using oral gavage needles as much 0.1 ml / 10 g bb 4 days before and after estrus stage and using RAL non-factorial method consisting of control and treatment group. Treatment consisted of factor test material with dose 2500, 5000, 10000, 20000, 40000 ppm. Chemical content of andaliman leaf extract shown from results study are alkaloids, steroids and saponins. Giving treatment of andaliman leaf extract for 9 days on histological data in the number primary, secondary, De Graff, and atretic follicles experienced fluctuating changes, but statistically did not show a significant difference between treatment and control mice groups, while different results were significantly shown in the number of corpus luteum. Parameters diameter of primary follicles, De Graff, and corpus luteum tended to experience changes that fluctuated, but statistically did not show the difference between the treatment and control mice groups, while the diameter of secondary and atretic follicles showed significantly different results. From the results study, administration of andaliman leaf extract affects histological mice ovaries, because it affects oogenesis and ovulation, but fluctuates, possibly due to crude extract, which has not isolated chemical content.

The past 20 years have seen widening applications of hand-held instruments which facilitate operation outside the confines of a laboratory thereby enabling on-site and in situ analysis of test materials with limited or no test material preparation. Hand-held infra-red and Raman instrumentation is now available for a wide range of applications in fields such as manufacturing, environmental protection or security, enabling staff without chemical analysis training to provide rapid answers to specific questions. This Technical Brief aims to inform both analysts and less-technically aware users of the applications, capabilities and limitations associated with the use of this equipment.

Purpose and onjectives. To distinguish stable and plastic varieties under contrast weather conditions of the eastern forest-steppe of Ukraine, to evaluate the weather conditions of the study years as environments with informative and differentiative capacity. Material and methods . The yields of spring barley cultivars harvested in 2008–2015 with contrast conditions were compared to determine the strength and direction of a cultivar response to weather conditions. Cultivars bred at the Plant Production named after V.Ya. Yuriev of NAAS were taken as the test material: Parnas, Ahrarii, Modern, Alehro, Dyvohliad, Schedryi (Experiment 1) – in 2008–2011; Avhur, Balzam, Grin, Modern (Experiment 2) – in 2013–2015. The standard was cultivar Vzirets. The study was conducted in the research crop rotation fields of the Plant Production Institute named after V.Ya. Yuriev of NAAS, in the competitive trial nurseries in four replicates, with the plot area of 10 m 2 . The yield data were statistically processed by ANOVA. The informative and differentiating capacity of the environments (years), as well as the breeding value of the cultivars, were determined by GGE biplot. Results and discussion. 2008 and 2014 were favorable; 2010 and 2013 – unfavorable. The precipitation was uneven and showery, and, therefore, could not meet the barley plants’ need for water, especially at high temperatures. All the cultivars lowered their yields under the unfavorable conditions (drought), and the yield drop depended on the genotype. The study found that barley varieties Parnas and Avhur fully utilized their potential under favorable growing conditions, as their yields reached 4.92 t/ha and 5.12 t/ha, respectively. They are intense varieties. The most stable yields were given by varieties Alehro, Parnas, Avhur, and Balzam. The decrease in the yields of these varieties under unfavorable weather conditions was 55–65%. The yields of varieties Vzitets, Hrin and awnless variety Modern were the most variable, with a decrease in their yields of 66–72%, i.e. these varieties are plastic. At the same time, Vzirets can reach its potential even in arid conditions. Conclusions. Thus, the Plant Production Institute named after V.Ya. Yuriev of NAAS created barley cultivars for different growing conditions: both for regions with optimal conditions and for arid and risky farming regions. This is relevant, given possible climate changes towards warming.

Objective. Our objective was to study the prevalence of toxoplasmosis among various groups of population in the Omsk Region. Materials and methods. We analyzed statistical data and the results of our own serological tests carried out in 2000–2017. Antibodies to Toxoplasma were determined in 1,926 people (769 citizens and 1,157 villagers). The blood serum was used as the test material. For the detection of IgG and IgA antibodies to toxoplasma, we used locally produced ELISA test systems (“Vector-Best”, Novosibirsk). Results. Antibodies to toxoplasmas were found in residents of all landscape areas of the Omsk Region. In the northern parts of the forest zone, 45.9 % of people had antibodies to toxoplasma; in the southern steppe zone, 64.6 % of people had those antibodies. Urban residents were infected in 17.7 % of cases. There were significant age-related differences in toxoplasma infection in the population of the Omsk Region. The maximum rates of invasion in older age groups were more than 50 % among urban residents and over 70 % in rural areas. Rates of seropositivity of rural children under 15 were 5 times higher than those in urban children. Serological markers of toxoplasmosis were detected in 52.8 % of rural women of childbearing age and in 33.9 % of urban women. Сonclusion. The research results indicated the unfavorable epidemic situation for toxoplasmosis in the Omsk Region. Taking into account the risk of infection for people with immunodeficiency and pregnant women and the possibility to reactivate the invasion even in an immunocompetent organism, it is necessary to study distinctive features of the toxoplasmosis epidemic process in different areas of the Omsk Region and to develop regulatory and procedural documents on prevention of Toxoplasma infection in the population.

The implementation of one-way roads in the city of Bima began to be tested in 2017 ago. There are two main roads used as test material, one of which is on the Soekarto Hatta road along 5 Km and is a national road. This is done because of the increasing number of private vehicles used by the community and the number of traffic jams and traffic accidents on several roads. The area in the Soekarno Hatta route is included in a dense area because it is a central office and trade area. The purpose of this study is to look at the level of effectiveness of the implementation of the one-way lane by using several research methods, namely the analysis of the level of road service, queuing opportunities, vehicle actual speed and vehicle travel time. Based on the results of the analysis conducted, it is found that the level of road service is at level E (traffic starts to jam and low speed). In addition, the actual speed of the vehicle can be traveled at speeds of 48km / h with a travel time of 19.40 minutes. This indicates that the implementation of oneway lanes in the City of Bima has been effectively carried out.

Resistance Test of Lambdacyhalothrin on Aedes Aegypti Mosquito In Port Area. Dengue fever is caused by dengue virus which is transmitted to human blood circulation through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito which is transmitted in almost all parts of Indonesia. Aedes vector control is very intense, especially in the use of insecticides and community empowerment in vector habitat environmental management. Factors using improper insecticides can lead to resistance. This study aims to identify insecticide resistant levels of aedes aegypti mosquitoes in the Semayang Port area. This study was an observational study. The research was carried out by taking samples of mosquitoes from the Prapatan sub-district RT 14 Semayang Port working area, Balikpapan Class II KKP. The population of this study is Ae. adult aegypti from pre-mature breeding obtained from a field that inherits the parent's resisitency. The sample of this study was 20 Ae mosquitoes. Adult aegypti each treatment. Mosquitoes for the test material in this study came from larvae obtained from the RT 14 wilker village of Semayang Port where the area is a buffer zone in Semayang which is routinely controlled. The test data was obtained by observing the mortality of test and control mosquitoes after being exposed to 0.05% lambdacyhalothrin for 30 minutes. Of the 20 mosquitoes tested, the number of mosquitoes fell in minutes 1, 5, 10, 20, 30, 1 hour and 24 hours. Aedes aegypti mosquito originating from RT 14 Prapatan Subdistrict, Balikpapan tolerant to lambdacyhalothrin 0.05%.

Background: A requirement of current good manufacturing practices for dietary supplements is that manufacturers must identify their dietary ingredients. DNA-based methods can provide species-level authentication that may sometimes be difficult to achieve using conventional morphological and chemical analysis methods. However, because of varying levels of DNA degradation in botanical materials, many commercial tests fail to generate consistent test results across all types of botanical materials. AOAC published guidelines for validation of botanical identification methods and proposed probability of identification (POI) as a method performance parameter. However, few DNA-based botanical authentication methods in the literature follow these guidelines and evaluate POI. Objective: To provide a targeted PCR method validation example that follows AOAC guidelines for validation of botanical identification methods. Methods: Using Matricaria chamomilla (chamomile) as an example, we performed a single-laboratory validation for a targeted PCR method that aimed to identify both raw and processed chamomile materials. The performance parameters of the test were evaluated by carrying out an inclusivity/exclusivity study and a Specified Superior Test Material/Specified Inferior Test Material study to demonstrate that the method’s POI meets industry requirements. Results: The chamomile samples were identified by the method and achieved a POI greater than 0.9 with respect to all types of chamomile botanical materials. Conclusions: The method was validated for DNA-based identification of raw and processed chamomile materials, such as sterilized powders and extracts. Highlights: This work will provide insight for laboratories and manufacturers that aim to develop and validate DNA-based botanical identification methods.

This study was based on the finite element method to construct a high-frequency heating temperature field simulation model. In the model, the bending length and angle of top plate were changed upwards. The heating uniformity of test material was then analyzed under different conditions (bending length and angle) to identify the best improvement scheme and carry out the experimental verification. The results showed that when the bending length and angle of top plate were 200mm and 45°, the heating uniformity was the best. Comparison of temperature distribution along the width direction of test material before and after improvement, it was concluded that the temperature distribution was more uniform after improvement. Comparison the temperature difference between the center of test material and its length, width and thickness direction measurement point before and after improvement, the temperature difference was reduced by 7.6 ℃ , 1.7 ℃ , 3.4 ℃ , respectively, which effectively improved the heating uniformity. Comparison of the changes in the electromagnetic field distributions between plates before and after improvement revealed an increase in distribution uniformity from 0.631 to 0.811. This indicated that the electromagnetic field distribution after improvement was more uniform with ideal heating effect. Overall, the improvement in bending length and angle of top plate could change the distribution of electromagnetic fields between the plates and enhance temperature distribution uniformity of wood during high-frequency heating.
