Background and Objectives: Understanding the knowledge and dietary patterns of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients is essential to identify gaps and design tailored health education strategies to improve self-management and clinical outcomes. We assessed the diabetes-related dietary patterns, knowledge, and associated factors of T2DM patients. Methods: The study utilized a cross-sectional design, surveying 363 T2DM patients using a validated and pretested questionnaire. Knowledge levels were categorized as low (<50%), medium (50–75%), and high (>75%), and dietary patterns were classified as unhealthy (<34%), moderately healthy (34–67%), and healthy (>67%). We analyzed the data using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS, version 23.0). The authors tested the relationship between diabetes-related dietary patterns and knowledge with Spearman's analysis. The multivariate regression approach established the factors associated with these two components. Results: The findings revealed that 36.4% of participants had low knowledge, 34.4% had medium knowledge, and only 29.2% demonstrated high knowledge. Regarding dietary patterns, 34.4% were categorized as unhealthy, 33.3% as moderately healthy, and 32.3% as healthy. The authors found that these two domains were positively correlated (rho = 0.649, p = 0.001). Diabetes-related knowledge was significantly associated with gender (p = 0.018), duration of diabetes (p = 0.001), and patients with a family history of T2DM (p = 0.007). The dietary pattern was significantly associated with age (p = 0.001), duration of diabetes (p = 0.032), and presence of other chronic diseases (p = 0.028). Conclusions: The findings underscore the need for targeted health education strategies that address gaps in dietary knowledge and promote healthier eating behaviors among T2DM patients in Central Saudi Arabia. Background: In orthodontic treatment, it is most important to assess the patient's perspective of malocclusion because these perceptions are fundamental to determining the patient's demands and level of treatment satisfaction. This study was done to assess the knowledge and perception of residents of the Aljouf Region of Saudi Arabia seeking orthodontic treatment. Furthermore, we determined the factors associated with the patients' knowledge and perception of orthodontic treatment. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted using a pre-tested and validated questionnaire among patients seeking orthodontic treatment who were registered at King Abdulaziz Hospital, Sakaka, and primary health centers. We identified the associated factors using binomial logistic regression analysis. Finally, we applied Spearman's correlation test to identify the correlation between knowledge and perception. Results: A total of 282 individuals participated in the current study, of which 53.3% were female and 46.1% were male. About one-third (36.9%) of patients had a low level of knowledge, 35.5% had a medium level of knowledge, and 27.7% had a high level of knowledge regarding orthodontic treatment. A total of 20.6% had low perceptions, 42.9% had medium perceptions, and 36.5% had high perceptions of orthodontic care. A significant correlation was found between age and gender, knowledge (p = 0.001), and perception (p = 0.040). Moreover, we observed a positive correlation between knowledge and perception (Spearman's rho = 0.297, p = 0.001). Conclusion: People in Aljouf have poor knowledge and medium perception regarding orthodontic treatment. Drug resistance (DR) to antituberculosis drugs is a growing global problem that threatens the successful control of tuberculosis (TB) globally and within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). In the GCC, TB remains a major public health issue. Understanding the prevalence and patterns of drug resistance to antituberculosis drugs is crucial for developing effective prevention and treatment strategies. Hence, the present systematic review is aimed at assessing the prevalence, pattern, and risk factors of drug-resistant TB (DR-TB) in GCC countries. We conducted this systematic review adhering to the guidelines outlined in the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) 2020 Statement. Using the relevant keywords in the major databases, we included peer-reviewed articles that were published from 01 January 2014 and onwards in English language journals. The prevalence and patterns of DR-TB levels in different countries were different. Isoniazid monoresistance was the most commonly found type of resistance, with varying degrees of prevalence of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB). Risk factors for DR-TB included diabetes mellitus, past TB treatment, younger age, female gender, and renal failure. There was a positive correlation between expatriate status and DR-TB. Collaborative actions by relevant stakeholders are essential to implement evidence-based interventions that reduce the DR-TB burden and improve overall community health. Ongoing research and surveillance activities are necessary for monitoring patterns, identifying new risk factors, and providing focused interventions to lessen the threat of DR-TB on public health in GCC countries. Globally, binge eating behavior has emerged as a significant public health concern, especially among female adolescents. Body shape concerns in female adolescents can lead to body dissatisfaction and other mental health issues. Using a cross-sectional study design, we evaluated the frequency of binge eating behavior, body shape concerns, and associated factors among 400 female adolescents. We utilized a pretested Arabic binge eating scale (BES) and a body shape questionnaire—shorter version (BSQ-8C) to collect the required data. We performed Spearman's correlation analysis to find the strength and direction of the correlation between the BES and BSQ-8C scores. Finally, we applied binomial logistic regression analysis to identify the predictors of body shape concerns. Of the studied participants, 5.5% and 6.2% had medium and severe binge eating behavior. We found a significant positive correlation between the BES and BSQ-8C scores (rho = 0.434, p < 0.001). Also, we found that body shape concerns were significantly higher among the monthly family income category of 5000 to 7000 SAR (p = 0.005), the severe binge eating categories (p = 0.009), and obese adolescents (p = 0.001). Early childhood caries (ECC) is not merely a problem of the tooth; rather, it has negative impacts on the child's growth and development and oral health-related quality of life. The prevalence of ECC varies widely, and more variance is observed between countries than continents, and it changes over time. The current cross-sectional study aimed to determine ECC's prevalence, associated factors, and severity. This study was conducted in the Dental Clinic Complex, North Riyadh, KSA. The study sample included 306 participants between 36 and 71 months of age. A questionnaire was developed to collect information from participants. The decaying and filled teeth (DMFT) index was used to estimate the prevalence of caries. The study results revealed the prevalence of ECC to be 76% among 36- to 71-month-old children in North Riyadh. ECC is influenced by socioeconomic factors like maternal occupation, education, oral hygiene habits, and dietary patterns. Also, it was found that exclusively breastfed children have lower ECC odds (68.1% vs. 83.6%, p = 0.001), while the intake of more than three between-meal sugar-containing snacks/beverages per day increases the likelihood of ECC (63.5% vs. 79.8%, p = 0.006). The researchers recommend encouraging breastfeeding as it correlates with lower ECC prevalence, in addition to establishing effective oral hygiene practices for preschool children. Self-management behavior among diabetes patients is essential to monitor blood sugar levels, make necessary lifestyle changes, and help patients reduce their risk of complications from diabetes. We assessed the prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) and its association with self-management behavior and sociodemographic characteristics among 310 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) attending different diabetes care centers in northern Saudi Arabia. We evaluated the self-management behaviors of patients with T2DM using a validated Arabic version of the Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities Scale. Regarding MS, we applied the National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) Adult Treatment Plan–3 (ATP–3) guidelines. A logistic regression analysis was used to identify the predictors of MS. We found that more than one-third (36.5%) of patients had MS according to the NCEP ATP-3 criteria. The prevalence of MS was significantly associated with unsatisfactory self-management behaviors. Regarding sociodemographic predictors for MS, we found a significant association between gender (ref: female: Adjusted OR (AOR) = 1.89, 95%CI = 1.17–2.95, p = 0.007) and body mass index (ref.: normal range: AOR = 2.98, 95%CI = 1.31–5.07, p = 0.003). Our findings suggest a tailor-made multifaceted intervention to improve the self-management behaviors of T2DM patients, which, in turn, can reduce MS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The current research aimed to evaluate the hospitalized COVID-19 Patients’ characteristics, comorbidities, and outcomes. The present hospital-based study was executed in the COVID-19 units of Aljouf province. A simple random sampling method was applied to include the 400 patients’ files and all the relevant data was collected. The association between the COVID-19 outcome with sociodemographic characteristics, comorbidities, and immune status was assessed using the chi-square test. A p-value <0.05 was taken as statistically significant. The common symptoms were fever (54.5%), followed by cough (47.8%), and shortness of breath (47.3%). The commonest comorbidity was diabetes mellitus (43.5%). Of the 400 patients, 77.3% had recovered without any complications, 4.5% had one or more complications, and mortality was 18.3%. The COVID-19 outcome (complete recovery, recovery with complications, and death) were significantly associated with age (p<0.001), immune status (p=0.001), diabetes (p=0.001), hypertension (p=0.001), IHD (p=0.025), CKD (p=0.001), and cardiac failure (p=0.008). Most of the patients (77.3%) recovered completely and a mortality rate of 18.3% was observed in our study. This study confirms that patients afflicted with co-morbid conditions like diabetes, hypertension, IHD, CKD, and cardiac failure are highly susceptible to poor outcomes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
