Through the last 10 years, it has been an increasing occurrence and activity of moisture-dependent insects in modern buildings. Grey silverfish (Ctenolepisma longicaudata) is the most common species, but it is also an increasing number of cases of silverfish (Lepisma saccharina) and Ctenolepisma calva (Mattsson 2018). Furthermore, several psocid species (Psocoptera), which is well-known for living in microclimatically humid constructions (>60% RH) feeding on mould fungi, is commonly found in modern buildings in frequency and number that is traditionally not found in older buildings (>30 years). The populations of these insects also survive for several years in the modern buildings. This shows that there are persistent humid areas in constructions where they have suitable hotspots and access to suitable food. The humidity is due to residual building moisture and the moisture levels in such places are so high that there is a basis for growth for several species, such as Aspergillus penicilloides and A. versicolor. It is known that both mould spores and insect excrements can be allergenic. Our results show that there is a clear pattern in the abnormal occurrence of mold in dust and air in buildings where there are plenty of moisturedemanding insects. Thus, does the occurrence of these insects represent a clear risk for a negative indoor climate exposure.

This thesis examines the use of neural network methods for classifying parliamentary speeches by textual content. It introduces previous work in the field using traditional methods, and discusses aspects of the Talk of Norway (ToN) corpus, while covering the theoretical background behind neural methods in detail. Detailed analyses are given for various architectures applied to the task.

The aim of this study was to investigate species related differences in soil carbon and nitrogen concentration, pH and condensed tannin content in topsoil’s in Norway spruce (Picea abies) European beech (Fagus sylvatica) forests. Samples were collected in two Norway spruce sites and one old-growth European beech forest in South-Eastern Norway. Research on spatial distribution and differences in soil properties in beech and spruce has been studied in the temperate zone. However, no comparative studies have investigated differences in secondary compounds in topsoil’s between European beech and Norway spruce forests. This might be of importance as larger tannin structures decompose slower, and are believed to be able to remain in the soil over time and potentially add to the stable carbon pool found in boreal forest soils. Also, in the literary studies done in conjunction with this thesis, no research showing differences in topsoil content of condensed tannins between spruce and beech where to be found. Topsoil samples were collected in old-growth beech forest, a Norway spruce forest growing in an area previously dominated by beech, and in a younger primary Norway spruce forest. The samples were analysed for carbon and nitrogen concentration, C/N ratio, pH and total condensed tannin content. Topsoil samples were collected at spatial intervals of 2 meters, with samples being taken up to 10 meters in all cardinal directions from a centre point. The results suggest that a change from spruce to beech forest will not induce significant changes to the concentrations and distribution of the measured soil properties. Few significant differences in the measured variables were found between the forest sites, and the highest variation was found within forest sites. This indicates that other factors than dominating tree species are more influential for small-scale spatial variations in soil properties. However, the results for spatial distribution of the measured variables does not constitute evidence that the parameters for soil properties would not show temporal variation with a shift towards more beech forest. To conclude further on this, more sampling sites and a larger number of samples would have to be included in the model. M-BIOL

The small hydropower industry in Norway is in a critical phase. The el-certificates system has proven to be a strong driver for new hydropower plants, as well as investments in existing plants, but with this system comes uncertainty regarding future revenue and profits. In addition to uncertainties connected to incentives, the price of electricity has fluctuated the past decade, fueling and dampening new investments with its movements. Strict acts and regulations concerning the utilization of rivers and lakes for electricity generation result in time-consuming processes, for both developers and governmental caseworkers, culminating in long waiting lines for possible hydropower projects. With only nine years left for developers to make the el-certificates system, actors in the industry expect a large increase in new electricity generation through new hydropower plants, which can affect both access to materials and the electricity price. In this thesis I have looked at the difficulties the hydropower industry have faced, are facing, and is likely to face in the future, through interviews with developers, and by looking at the industry in a historical perspective. Opinions surrounding the strength of the hydropower industry seem to differ, and there is great uncertainty concerning the future.

A/S ”Securitas” ble opprettet i 1925. Selskapet skulle, i all hemmelighet, stabilisere kursene på de tre største norske forretningsbankenes aksjer. Gjennom å skape ro på aksjemarkedet håpet initiativtakerne å sette en stopper for den pågående bankkrisen. En lang rekke av landets aller viktigste industriherrer, skipsredere og kjøpmenn sluttet seg til. Ved hjelp av et betydelig lån i Norges Bank holdt Securitas bankaksjene stabile i tre år [...] Norges Bank skaffet A/S Securitas en kreditt på 21,1 millioner kroner for å drive stabilisering av bankaksjekurser. Målt som prosent av brutto nasjonalprodukt tilsvarer denne tilsynelatende beskjedne summen hele 7,26 milliarder 2010-kroner. Dette lånet ble bevilget i en tid hvor Norges Bank arbeidet målrettet for å begrense det øvrige samfunnslivets tilgang på kreditt. Størrelsen på lånet sier mye om hvilken vekt Norges Bank la på selskapets virksomhet. Å bevilge en så stor sum til en så bemerkelsesverdig virksomhet på et så avgjørende tidspunkt, var i seg selv en politisk handling. Denne oppgaven tar for seg fenomenet A/S Securitas og dets betydning innenfor denne rammen, innenfor den borgerlige krisehåndteringen. En historisk undersøkelse av dette temaet skulle knapt trenge noen videre begrunnelse. Det fremstår snarere som et lite paradoks at ingen slik undersøkelse har vært foretatt før. Denne masteroppgaven tar for seg temaet oljepolitikk og det politiske partiet Kristelig Folkeparti i tidsrommet 1979 – 1985. Hva og hvorfor Kristelig Folkeparti mente det de gjorde i fire spesifikke saker fra denne tidsperioden vil være hovedpunktet for forskningen. Oppgaven har som formål å belyse hvilke faktorer som ledet Kristelig Folkeparti til de beslutningene som ble tatt i de fire sakene. De fire sakene er utvidelsen av norsk sokkel nord for 62. breddegrad, reformeringen av Statoil, utvidelsen av oljeraffineriet på Mongstad og operatørskiftet på Statfjord-feltet. Disse fire sakene var viktig for Norge fordi de representerte utviklingen videre inn i oljealderen. Kristelig Folkeparti er et parti som ble stiftet i 1933 i Hordaland, partiet ble et riksdekkende parti etter 1945 og hadde sin velgerbase på Sør- og Vestlandet. KrF var et parti som kunne kategoriseres som et kristentkonservativt- og periferiorientert parti. Hvordan forholdt et slikt parti seg til den nye oljenæringen som oppsto på Vestlandet på 1970-tallet? Et sentralt spørsmål i denne oppgaven er hvilke begrunnelser som KrF hadde for sine politiske valg, hva og hvorfor begrunnet partiet sine meninger i? Norsk oljealder startet så smått i 1969 med funnet av Ekofisk. Dette funnet ble starten på den norske petroleumsindustrien og oppgaven tar for seg de politiske utviklingene som fant sted i 1979 – 1985. Dette tidsrommet er viktig fordi det tar for seg den perioden hvor aktiviteten på sokkelen og inntektene til staten økte kraftig. Samtidig som aktivitet og inntekt økte, var diskusjonene om videre utvikling og utvidelse av norsk petroleumsindustri et viktig tema i Norge på dette tidspunktet. Disse diskusjonene var KrF med på og sammen med de andre ikke-sosialistiske partiene. Fra 1981 var KrF et støtteparti til Høyres regjering, ledet av Kåre Willoch. Fra 1983 – 1986 gikk KrF og Senterpartiet inn i denne regjeringen.
