This registration contains the preregistration document for our paper, which will consist of secondary data analysis of the #BeeWell study to investigate patterns of participation in arts, culture and entertainment activities; the extent to which this varies by socio-demographic characteristics; and if participation predicts later wellbeing.

This project will evaluate materials from BBC Education’s Tiny Happy People initiative, which was launched in 2020 and is aimed towards supporting the communication skills of young children, before they start school, by providing high quality and engaging materials (video content, information about child development, tips and activities) that are accessible for caregivers. Aerobic exercise can affect whole body physiology. Nutritional solutions, such as dietary tryptophan and soluble fiber may be able to assist in the dynamic changes the body undergoes during exercise. This thesis investigated the effects of two dietary interventions, either an increased tryptophan: large neutral amino acid ratio or increased soluble fiber on the heart rate, respiratory rate, and internal body temperature of sled dogs. Exercise led to decreased heart rates, respiratory rate appeared to be sensitive to the training duration, and body temperature tended to decrease during an exercise bout. Increasing the tryptophan: large neutral amino acid ratio of the diet had no effect on heart rate or respiratory rate, whereas increased soluble fiber content of the diet may have led to lower working and recovery body temperature. This research could be used to support exercise performance through both improvement of exercise training regimens and diet. Before there was the reservoir there was just the snake river and there were homesteads and farms. [Me: And, where are we?] We are in Aberdeen, Idaho. And so, um Liberty Independence and Sarah Janette Weaver [my ancestors] had the farm land that was right nest to the Teichert’s. [pause] And you know, they were neighbors for I don’t know how many years, and then Minerva was you know doing, she would do her paintings for payment, you know to pay for a dentist or to pay a medical bill or whatever, she would barter with her paintings [Me: Did she have notoriety at that point?]. Um, everyone knew that she had studied in France, so she was you know, she was known as a painter, but she wasn’t, her reputation was just local, and there were no local art critics, so everyone just trusted her is the way I take it. But anyway, when the civil conservation core, no it was probably before then, when they came in and built the dam to make the American Falls reservoir, um there farmland was flooded so the Teichert’s had to you know, they were compensated for their land, Liberty Independence moved further down the river to Lake Channel, and Minerva Teichert went to Cokeville, or Coalville, Coalville I guess [actually Cokeville] um up in Wyoming um but so when they were making their preparation to move and you know they had to settle all their stuff and they were sitting around, let’s see, Liberty was sitting at the dining table of the Teichert family and they were talking and he said something like, “well you know, everyone thinks you’re such a hot artist but you have never drawn me” and she says, “well I’ll solve that” and so she cleared away the plated and got out her paints or whatever she was using and just did the self portrait right there [Me: On the tablecloth.] On the tablecloth and said, “Here, take this” because it was just a cotton tablecloth. Then of course they framed it and whatever. Well it hung for, it was given then to my grandma, which is Connie, she got it and it hung in her house for a long time, like all the time I was growing up and then when they um when grandma died you know all of the artwork, all of grandpa’s carvings, all of that stuff was sorted out or whatever and the painting went missing [pause] and it showed up in, one of the other cousins came and absconded with it so that would have been one of the nieces and um then it just disappeared, but then it showed up on family search, a picture of it, so it is still around but nobody knows exactly where it was. [pause] It wasn’t a big deal, but in the time that- in the 30 years, the 40 years that grandma has, since her death, Minerva Teichert has become so famous I mean the portrait is worth quite a bit now. Everyone wants a share in it now that it’s famous.

So, Lance was probably 10. I mean, pretty young, not old at all. And for several week he started collecting all the candy he could get. I don’t know if he was earning some of it or if he was just getting it however he could, but he was just collecting a lot of candy. Um, his mom would go running every morning early at like six. And so he decided early on that he was going to pull off the prank of all pranks and so Lana got up and went running and he hurried and grabbed all the Easter baskets and set the out on the table like his mom did and he hid candy all over the place and he went and woke up all the kids, which some of them were older than her is [laughter] and this wasn’t on a Sunday so it was not on Easter and he is like, “the Easter bunny came” [said in an imitation voice of a young child] and their all up grabbing their baskets, they are all running around the house picking up candy when Lana walks in [laughter] She’s like, “what the heck” [laughter]. I mean to be that young and to trick his older- the older kids, I mean it’s just hilarious that they all bought into it and thought it was Easter. And it was cute on his part that he planned so long, it wasn’t like a five minute, “oh this might be fun.” So, he certainly goes down in history as the best prank that has ever been pulled in the family, and people talk about it all the time. Pay homage to him.

So from the beginning of my recollection of my time the, the assumption was that this game had been played by our parents by all the cousins for years ahead of me, and once you got old enough to play you were part of the group, I mean you wanted to be in there so bad so when you were younger, you would e in grandma’s house and you would be running back and forth from one side of the house to the other looking out the window wishing you could play. And then somehow someway, they deemed you worthy enough like as an opponent or capable enough to throw and run to be able to play so we would divide up into teams, probably doing one-potato two-potato three-potato four and we would divide up into teams and one set of kids would go on one side of the house on the west side on the lawn and the other side would go on the east side of the lawn and into the garden where all of the tomatoes and everything were, so you had to be careful not to step on all that stuff um we played with a tennis ball and I don’t know what the people before us played with like before they had tennis balls like maybe a baseball or something but tennis balls were the best or maybe they had a little rubber ball, but you wanted it to bounce well. So we would fight over who got to throw the ball first and somehow someone would come out victorious and you would yell as a group, “eenie einie over” and you would throw the ball high up in the air, up over the house and it had to bounce on the other side of the house, if it went all the way over it didn’t count and you had to um, I’m trying to think what happened when that happened [pause] I think you had to do it again. Like they threw it back and said it didn’t hit so you had to do it again, so it had to bounce on their side of the house and then the other side tried to catch the ball after the one bounce on the roof, and and you didn’t know on your side if they caught it or not, but you knew if you had scratched or defaulted and didn’t hit their side of the roof because they would throw it back and say you had to throw it again. So, then their side would throw the ball back and say the same thing, “eenie einie over” which was your key to getting in the ready to try to cover the whole space where it could possibly bounce off the roof. Um and so somebody could catch it. So this went on until one side had caught the ball three times and you would wait like strategy would compel you to wait between throwing so you know you would be fighting over who got to throw it you would part of the way you would not want the other side to know if you had caught three or not, because once you caught three then you would divide up and run to the other side with everyone ‘s hand behind their backs and one of you would have the ball. So half would go on one side and half would go on the other and you would surprise attack them and the person who had the ball would then whip out there arm and throw the ball and hit somebody and if they missed then you got nobody, but if you hit them then they were on your team then you would switch sides and you would have to go onto the other side and then you would start all over again with the three times and the goal was to get everyone on your team [pause] um there was just rampant cheating that went on, you would send people into the bushes, you would send people into the house to peek through the drapes to see if they were really catching it, um lots of fighting over whether they really caught it three times, or we would send a spy and they would say, “they’re coming, they’re coming” so everyone would take off running so they couldn’t hit you with the ball, so they couldn’t surprise attack you. So, all kinds of cheating would go on. I don’t remember ever cheating like that you hadn’t caught it three times legitimately the cheating was like knowing before hand that they had caught it three times things like that I mean there was a level that you wouldn’t go down below on the cheating [laughter] um but certainly like all time favorite game and I don’t think it’s called “Eenie Einie over” I mean if you look it up that’s not what it is [clacking heard on keyboard as my mother does a google search] so this is called “Annie Annie Over” [pause] oh that’s what you had to do, you had to run to the other side of the building and if you could get there before they hit you with the ball or tagged you then you were free and clear, that’s why you would cheat, so you could start running and get over there, some people called in “Andy Over” so my grandmother who was born in 1900 was the one who taught us how to play this game, and she called it “Andy Over.” So if you threw it and it didn’t go over we would yell “eenie come back” cause you’re like five, some of the players and like eight you can’t always get that ball over and so if you threw it and it just rolled partly up the roof and came back we would yell, “eenie come back,” so that’s it. I would love to get this written up.

So, stinkbase ranked higher than any other game as far as games we loved to play. I think we played that more than anything. And like when some of the cousins would do scout trip, like even lately, they teach people how to play this and it’s still a favorite. Um, so grandma’s lawn was by far the best place to play this because she had flat, straight lawn and then it went down a little hill to the south side. And on the north side it went into the driveway. So, on the crest of the hill, on the south side we would drag a hose and make a line all across the lawn and make a little circle on the end, on the north end that was the prison or jail. And it was probably like eight feet across, like and eight feet circumference. And then the driveway was the line and there was a square of cement the made the jail on the other side. So, you would divide up into teams again, a lot of fighting about who would be on which team and so we would find a way to do that like “eenie meenie miny moe” or “one potato, two potato” or someone would just, like captains or just pick or some mean cousin would just divide it up and not give anyone a choice or whatever, we would just find some way to divide up into teams. And they were equal teams, if you were going to be fair you would divide it out based on skill level and age and whatever, so the teams were pretty fair. S then, you would all stand behind our line on your side either the cement line or the hose and some brave soul would step out into the middle. And if they could run all the way across to the other team’s line without being touched, then they could grab somebody and take them back like that was in jail. Anyway, so, once he stepped out onto the grass, then someone on the other side stepped out onto the grass, the one who cam out later was fresher. And that’s the word we used. The one who came out first couldn’t touch the one who came out second. The fresher one could touch the less fresh one. So, if you’re on the other side and I come out and start taunting you and then you come out and start coming towards you I could run back and go back into my home base and then I could come out again and I would be fresher, but you’ve got like ten or so on each side playing so you’ve got a lot of arguing about who is fresher going on. Part of the game was just trying to keep track of who was fresher so you wouldn’t be touched by them. If someone came and touched you who was fresher than you, then you would have to go over to their side and be in the prison. Then, if one of your teammates ran across the whole field without being touched by someone fresher then he could bring you back, he could pick someone out of the jail, not you necessarily, but someone who was in the jail. They could bring them back. And once they got everyone into the jail, the circle, then they won. Um, but you could like reach your hands out of the jail and they could touch you. Or you had different rules like that. He could put one foot in the jail, because he wants to get back and get back to his side before someone from the opposing team get him. So, you would run by the prison and touch someone and you would both run back. You were fair game to be touched until you got back to your home side. [pause] So when all the people on the opposing team were captured, then the game was over. So, it is just mayhem, just yelling and arguing and who is fresher, anyway lots of skinned knees. I think I got the worst skinned knees ever because I was racing in there and I ran too fast down her paved driveway, it was cement on top, but it was blacktop as it went down the little hill to the road. It just, full on, knees, arms, you know face first down that thing. That hurt. That road rash hurt forever. But I wasn’t going to get caught. I would rather suffer than get caught. So, we had a whole bunch of maniacs like me who were playing the game who were super competitive. We were going to win at all costs. But oh, what a fun game.
