Deliverable 5.3 presents the optimized methodologies, tools and visualization widgets for assessing the environmental impact for each specific pilot (THESSALONIKI, ANTWERP, ANTALYA, CORK, VICENZA) based on: the internal characteristics of each pilot, the availability of data in each pilot and the environmental and information technology science. Delivering the optimised environmental outputs for each pilot was based on four levels,starting with the pilot and environmental data definition (LEVEL 0), followed by analysis and development of specific environmental stories (LEVEL 1), accomplished by Key Performance Indicators to assess the environmental impact of the proposed policy measures (LEVEL 2), and closing with the development of the environmental widgets which provided with visualizations of straightforward data, graphs, tables, maps, models, indicators, KPIs etc. (LEVEL 3).

This report delivers the first version of the CUTLER data collection and pre-processing framework. It describes architectural and software solutions developed so far. Namely, it: i) describes the data sources utilized in the first version of the framework; ii) provides architecture for collecting and storing the data in the local testbeds; iii) discusses cleaning, harmonization, interoperability, and data privacy solutions; iv) describes the software to fetch the data to the platform; as well as v) discusses challenges and future work.

This report elaborates further on the output of D3.2 and integrates solutions developed so far into the actual cloud infrastructure of CUTLER platform. Namely, it: i) provides an update on the data sources used for the pilots; moreover an assessment of the legal requirements of these data sources is conducted ; ii) discusses further data pre-processing and privacy issues; iii) informs on porting the Hadoop crawlers to the cloud infrastructure of CUTLER platform; iv) provides detailed information about new crawlers; as well as v) discusses challenges and future work.

Deliverable 5.1 formulates the environmental models for each specific pilot (city) based on: the internal characteristics of each pilot, the availability of environmental data in each pilot, and the environmental science. The development of D5.1 was based on the overall approach that the environmental widget will help policy makers during policy implementation, by providing visualizations of meaningful environmental indicators relevant to each specific pilot, and during policy assessment, by providing visualizations of KPIs revealing the environmental impact of the proposed measure or policy for each pilot. In particular, D5.1 describes the environmental data model and the dependencies among certain types of measurements for the four pilot cities of CUTLER. It also identifies the various KPIs that will help the policy makers to measure the environmental impact by revealing insights around comparisons among different sensor readings or by visualizing change for a specific type of measurement.
