More and more meta‐analyses have been conducted to compare the effects of intramedullary fixation (IF) and plate fixation (PF) on the outcome of midshaft clavicle fractures. It can affect the doctors' treatment decisions. A number of studies have been conducted in order to assist surgeons in selecting optimal operative procedures and to recommend operative treatment of clavicle fractures in accordance with the best available research. Our analysis of the IF and PF of clavicle fractures was done through a search for PubMed, Emabase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library. Two different researchers analysed the research literature for quality of analysis and data extraction. The analysis of the data was done with RevMan 5.3. The 95% CI and OR models have been computed by means of either fixed‐dose or randomize. In addition, RCT in 114 references have been reviewed and added for further analysis. It is concluded that the application of plate and intramedullary fixation in the middle clavicle operation has remarkable influence on the outcome of post‐operation. There was a lower risk of postoperative wound infection in IF (OR, 5.92; 95% CI, 2.46, 14.27 p < 0.0001), smaller surgical incisions (MD, 6.57; 95% CI, 4.90, 8.25 p < 0.0001), and shorter operative time (MD, 17.09; 95% CI 10.42, 23.77 p < 0.0001), less blood loss (MD, 63.62; 95% CI, 55.84, 71.39 p < 0.0001) and shorter hospital stay (MD, 1.05; 95% CI, 0.84, 1.25 p < 0.0001). However, there is no statistical significance in the incidence of wound dehiscence. Thus, the effect of IF on the incidence of injury is better than that of the inner plate in the middle of the clavicle. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

To improve the corrosion resistance of nickel matrix composites, in this paper, nano- pitiless were fully dispersed in the plating solution by ultrasonic wave, and Ni-TiO2composted coatings were prepared on liquid silica gel by using a DC stabilized power supply and a constant temperature heating magnetic stirrer. The properties of the composted materials were adjusted by changing the content of titanium dioxide. The sur¬face morphology, elemental composition, grain size and corrosion resistance of Ni-ItTiO2composted coatings were examined using cold field emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X- ray diffractometer, and electrochemical studio. On the premise of conducting pretreatment on liquid silica gel, the Ni-Trio 2 composite coating was successfully prepared. The Ni-TiO2 composite coating with different TiO2 content had different properties, among which 3-Ti-Ni had the best performance, and the particle diameter of the coating was 540 gm. The particle spacing was 315 gm. The corrosion resistance of 3-Ti Ni composite coal- in was the strongest, the corrosion current density was 48.5% lower than that of 1-Ti Ni, and the grain size of 4-Ti Ni composite was 36% lower than that of 1-Ti Ni composite. The addition of Nano TiO2 particles can effec¬tively improve the corrosion resistance of nickel based materials. The addition of Nano TiO2 particles in compos¬ite coatings can reline the grains, make the coatings more compact, and improve the corrosion resistance of ma- tetras. When the content of TiO2 reached 22 g/L, the corrosion resistance of the composite is the best. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Air pollution can increase the morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, but there are few related studies in counties and cities with serious pollution in China. China is at a critical stage of environmental pollution control. Assessing the health impact of PM2.5 (particulate matter with a diameter equal or lower than 2.5 micrometers) on the death toll from cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in heavily polluted counties and cities is of great importance to the formulation of air defense policies related to PM 2.5. Generalized additive models (GAMs) were used to analyze the effects of PM2.5 exposure on the death toll of circulatory system diseases in 16 districts, counties and cities in Shijiazhuang from 2014 to 2016 after controlling the long-term trend of the time series, seasonal effects, holiday effects, air temperature, relative humidity and other factors. The average PM2.5 concentration was 121.2 ± 96.6 μg/m3; during the corresponding period, the daily mean mortality of circulatory system diseases in Shijiazhuang was 4.6 ± 4.7. With the increase of PM2.5 by 10 μg/m3, the risk of total death from circulatory system diseases with a lag of two days (lag02) increased by 3.3‰ (95% confidence interval (CI): 1.0025, 1.0041). The relative risk (RR) of the effect of PM2.5 exposure on the death toll of the circulatory system in Shijiazhuang is consistent with the spatial distribution of the PM2.5 concentration and the mortality of circulatory system diseases: the RR of the eastern plain with heavy pollution and a relatively dense population is high, while the RR of the western mountainous area with relatively light pollution and a relatively sparse population is low. For every 10-μg/m3 increase of PM2.5, the risk of the increasing death toll from circulatory system diseases in Luancheng of the eastern plain is the highest at 11.9‰ (95% CI: 1.0071, 1.0168), while the RR of Pingshan of the western mountainous area is the lowest at 2.1‰ (95% CI: 0.9981, 1.0062). Conclusions: Based on the epidemiological analysis and GAMs model, after controlling for other confounding factors, PM2.5 exposure increased the death risk of the circulatory system in Shijiazhuang, and the risk is higher in heavily polluted plain areas. It provides a scientific basis for formulating scientific air pollution prevention and control policies and provides a reference for improving the prevention awareness of sensitive groups.

Background: Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae, the primary pathogen responsible for porcine enzootic pneumonia, reduces average daily weight gain and causes substantial economic losses to the pig industry worldwide. Vaccination is the most common strategy to control this disease but offers partial protection. Therefore, developing next‐generation vaccines by screening protective antigens is crucial. Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the antibody response to 33 recombinant proteins in pigs naturally infected with M. hyopneumoniae. Methods: The genes encoding 33 (hypothetical) membrane proteins or secretory proteins were ligated into pGEX‐6P‐1, pGEX‐6P‐2, pGEX‐5X‐3 or pGEX‐4T‐3 vectors and transformed into Escherichia coli BL21(DE3) or E. coli XL‐1 Blue to construct recombinant bacteria and to express the recombinant proteins. The recombinant bacteria expressing the target proteins reacted with porcine convalescent sera and negative sera to screen immunodominant proteins by ELISA. Then, recombinant bacteria expressing immunodominant proteins were used to identify the discriminating immunodominant proteins that were recognised by convalescent sera nut not hyperimmune sera. Results: All recombinant bacteria could express the target recombinant proteins in soluble form. Twenty‐one proteins were shown to present immunodominant antigens, and four proteins were not recognised by convalescent sera. Moreover, six proteins were considered discriminating and reacted with convalescent sera but not with hyperimmune sera. Conclusions: The identified immunodominant proteins were antigenic and expressed during bacterial infection, suggesting that these proteins, especially those capable of discriminating between sera, can be used to identify protective antigens with the view to develop more effective vaccines against M. hyopneumoniae infection. Araloside A is a pentacyclic triterpenoid saponin, and L-ascorbic acid is a globally recognized antioxidant. In this study, coadministered araloside A and L-ascorbic acid were found to have a strong synergistic antioxidant effect, and correlations between cellular antioxidant indexes and free radical scavenging ability were found. Individual and combined pretreatment with araloside A and L-ascorbic acid increased both cell viability and antioxidant enzyme activity and inhibited the release of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH); the accumulation of malondialdehyde (MDA), lipid peroxidation (LPO) products, and H 2 O 2 ; and the production of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), protein carbonyls, and 8-hydroxy-2-deoxy guanosine (8-OHdG). Free radical scavenging ability was positively correlated with superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) activity, the glutathione (GSH)/oxidized glutathione (GSSG) ratio, and total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC). Our study is the first investigation of araloside A and L-ascorbic acid coadministration for the treatment of diseases caused by oxidative stress.
