The ratio of metal abundance to hydrogen abundance of the solar photosphere, $(Z/X)_{s}$, has been revised several times. Standard solar models, based on these revised solar abundances, are in disagreement with seismically inferred results. Recently, Magg et al. introduced a new value for $(Z/X)_{s}$, which is still in debate in the community. The solar abundance problem or solar modeling problem remains a topic of ongoing debate. We constructed rotating solar models in accordance with various abundance scales where the effects of convection overshoot and enhanced diffusion were included. Among these models, those utilizing Magg's abundance scale exhibit superior sound-speed and density profiles compared to models using other abundance scales. Additionally, they reproduce the observed frequency separation ratios $r_{02}$ and $r_{13}$. These models also match the seismically inferred surface helium abundance and convection zone depth within $1\sigma$ level. Furthermore, the calculated neutrino fluxes from these models agree with detected ones at the level of $1\sigma$. We found that neutrino fluxes and density profile are influenced by nuclear reactions, allowing us to use the combination of detected neutrino fluxes and seismically inferred density for diagnosing astrophysical $S$-factors. This diagnostic approach shows that $S_{11}$ may be underestimated by $2\%$, while $S_{33}$ may be overestimated by about $3\%$ in previous determinations. To gain a better understanding of the Andromeda galaxy M31 and its role in the Local Group, measuring its mass precisely is essential. In this work, we have constructed the rotation curve of M31 out to $\sim$125 kpc using 13,679 M31 objects obtained from various sources, including the LAMOST data release 9 (LAMOST DR9), the DESI survey, and relevant literature. We divide all objects in our sample into bulge, disk and halo components. For the sources in the M31 disk, we have measured their circular velocities by a kinematic model with asymmetric drift corrections. For the bulge and halo objects, we calculate their velocity dispersions and use the spherical and projected Jeans equation to obtain the circular velocities. Our findings indicate a nearly isotropic nature for the M31 bulge, while the halo exhibits tangential anisotropy. The results show that the rotation curve remains constant at $\sim$220 km s$^{-1}$ up to radius $\sim$25 kpc and gradually decreases to $\sim$170 km s$^{-1}$ further out. Based on the newly determined rotation curve, we have constructed a mass distribution model for M31. Our measurement of the M31 virial mass is $M_{\rm vir} = 1.14^{+0.51}_{-0.35} \times 10^{12} M_\odot$ within $r_{\rm vir} = 220 \pm 25$ kpc.

We present a comprehensive study of the kinematic properties of the different Galactic disk populations, as defined by the chemical abundance ratios and stellar ages, across a large disk volume (4.5 $\leq$ R $\leq$ 15.0 kpc and $|Z|$ $\leq$ 3.0 kpc), by using the LAMOST-Gaia red clump sample stars. We determine the median velocities for various spatial and population bins, finding large-scale bulk motions, such as the wave-like behavior in radial velocity, the north-south discrepancy in azimuthal velocity and the warp signal in vertical velocity, and the amplitudes and spatial-dependences of those bulk motions show significant variations for different mono-age and mono-abundance populations. The global spatial behaviors of the velocity dispersions clearly show a signal of spiral arms and, a signal of the disk perturbation event within 4 Gyr, as well as the disk flaring in the outer region (i.e., $R \ge 12$ kpc) mostly for young or alpha-poor stellar populations. Our detailed measurements of age/[$\alpha$/Fe]-velocity dispersion relations for different disk volumes indicate that young/$\alpha$-poor populations are likely originated from dynamically heated by both giant molecular clouds and spiral arms, while old/$\alpha$-enhanced populations require an obvious contribution from other heating mechanisms such as merger and accretion, or born in the chaotic mergers of gas-rich systems and/or turbulent interstellar medium., Comment: 35 pages, 31 figures, 3 tables, accepted for publication in ApJ

RV variable stars are important in astrophysics. The Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) spectroscopic survey has provided ~ 6.5 million stellar spectra in its Data Release 4 (DR4). During the survey, ~ 4.7 million unique sources were targeted and ~ 1 million stars observed repeatedly. The probabilities of stars being RV variables are estimated by comparing the observed radial velocity variations with the simulated ones. We build a catalog of 80,702 RV variable candidates with probability greater than 0.60 by analyzing the duplicate-observed multi-epoch sources covered by the LAMOST DR4. Simulations and cross-identifications show that the purity of the catalog is higher than 80%. The catalog consists of 77% binary systems and 7% pulsating stars as well as 16% pollution by single stars. 3,138 RV variables are classified through cross-identifications with published results in literatures. By using the 3,138 sources common to both LAMOST and a collection of published RV variable catalogs we are able to analyze LAMOST's RV variable detection rate. The efficiency of the method adopted in this work relies not only on the sampling frequency of observations but also periods and amplitudes of RV variables. With the progress of LAMOST, Gaia and other surveys, more and more RV variables would will be confirmed and classified. This catalog is valuable for other large-scale surveys, especially for RV variable searches. Monitoring chromospheric and photospheric indexes of magnetic activity can provide valuable information, especially the interaction between different parts of the atmosphere and their response to magnetic fields. We extract chromospheric indexes, S and Rhk+, for 59,816 stars from LAMOST spectra in the LAMOST-Kepler program, and photospheric index, Reff, for 5575 stars from Kepler light curves. The log Reff shows positive correlation with log Rhk+. We estimate the power-law indexes between Reff and Rhk+ for F-, G-, and K-type stars, respectively. We also confirm the dependence of both chromospheric and photospheric activity on stellar rotation. Ca II H and K emissions and photospheric variations generally decrease with increasing rotation periods for stars with rotation periods exceeding a few days. The power-law indexes in exponential decay regimes show different characteristics in the two activity-rotation relations. The updated largest sample including the activity proxies and reported rotation periods provides more information to understand the magnetic activity for cool stars., Comment: 8 pages,7 figures

The hot massive luminous blue variables (LBVs) represent an important evolutionary phase of massive stars. Here, we report the discovery of a new LBV -- LAMOST J0037+4016 in the distant outskirt of the Andromeda galaxy. It is located in the south-western corner (a possible faint spiral arm) of M31 with an unexpectedly large projection distance of $\sim$ 22 kpc from the center. The optical light curve shows a 1.2 mag variation in $V$ band and its outburst and quiescence phases both last over several years. The observed spectra indicate an A-type supergiant at epoch close to the outburst phase and a hot B-type supergiant with weak [Fe II] emission lines at epoch of much dimmer brightness. The near-infrared color-color diagram further shows it follows the distribution of Galactic and M31 LBVs rather than B[e] supergiants. All the existing data strongly show that LAMOST J0037+4016 is an LBV. By spectral energy distribution fitting, we find it has a luminosity ($4.42 \pm 1.64$)$\times 10^5$ $L_{\odot}$ and an initial mass $\sim 30$ $M_{\odot}$, indicating its nature of less luminosity class of LBV., Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures, 3 tables, accepted by ApJL

We present a catalog of stellar age and mass estimates for a sample of 640\,986 red giant branch (RGB) stars of the Galactic disk from the LAMOST Galactic Spectroscopic Survey (DR4). The RGB stars are distinguished from the red clump stars utilizing period spacing derived from the spectra with a machine learning method based on kernel principal component analysis (KPCA). Cross-validation suggests our method is capable of distinguishing RC from RGB stars with only 2 per cent contamination rate for stars with signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) higher than 50. The age and mass of these RGB stars are determined from their LAMOST spectra with KPCA method by taking the LAMOST - $Kepler$ giant stars having asteroseismic parameters and the LAMOST-TGAS sub-giant stars based on isochrones as training sets. Examinations suggest that the age and mass estimates of our RGB sample stars with SNR $>$ 30 have a median error of 30 per cent and 10 per cent, respectively. Stellar ages are found to exhibit positive vertical and negative radial gradients across the disk, and the age structure of the disk is strongly flared across the whole disk of $6

This study expands the coverage and improves the homogeneity of the distribution of MILES template stars in the parameter space, as well as extends the wavelength coverage of the template spectra to the far red beyond the Ca\,{\sc{ii}} triplet. To achieve this we have carried out a major observational campaign using the OMR long-slit spectrograph mounted on the NAOC 2.16\,m telescope and the YFOSC long-slit spectrograph mounted on the YNAO 2.4\,m telescope. The original sample is based on the MILES library, supplemented by 918 stars selected from PASTEL database. In total, 822 OMR and 1,324 YFOSC spectra, covering respectively the wavelength ranges $\lambda\lambda$3800--5180 and $\lambda\lambda$5150--9000, have been collected and reduced. The spectra have a mean resolution FWHM (full-width at half-maximum) of $\sim 3.3$\,{\AA} and are wavelength- and flux-calibrated to an accuracy of $\sim 20$\,km\,s$^{-1}$ and $\sim 5$\,per\,cent, respectively. The spectra are further corrected for systematic errors in the wavelength calibration to an accuracy of $\sim 4$\,km\,s$^{-1}$ by cross-correlating with the theoretical spectra. Almost all the spectra have an average signal to noise ratio (SNR) better than 100 per pixel. Combined with the MILES spectra, there are now 1,731, 1,542, 1,324 and 1,273 stars with spectra covering respectively $\lambda\lambda$3800--5180, $\lambda\lambda$3800--7500, $\lambda\lambda$5150--9000 and $\lambda\lambda$3800--9000. We present a detailed determination and analysis of 3D stellar mass distribution of the Galactic disk for mono-age populations using a sample of 0.93 million main-sequence turn-off and subgiant stars from the LAMOST Galactic Surveys. Our results show (1) all stellar populations younger than 10\,Gyr exhibit strong disk flaring, which is accompanied with a dumpy vertical density profile that is best described by a $sech^n$ function with index depending on both radius and age; (2) Asymmetries and wave-like oscillations are presented in both the radial and vertical direction, with strength varying with stellar populations; (3) As a contribution by the Local spiral arm, the mid-plane stellar mass density at solar radius but 400--800\,pc (3--6$^\circ$) away from the Sun in the azimuthal direction has a value of $0.0594\pm0.0008$\,$M_\odot$/pc$^3$, which is 0.0164\,$M_\odot$/pc$^3$ higher than previous estimates at the solar neighborhood. The result causes doubts on the current estimate of local dark matter density; (4) The radial distribution of surface mass density yields a disk scale length evolving from $\sim$4\,kpc for the young to $\sim$2\,kpc for the old populations. The overall population exhibits a disk scale length of $2.48\pm0.05$\,kpc, and a total stellar mass of $3.6(\pm0.1)\times10^{10}$\,$M_\odot$ assuming $R_{\odot}=8.0$\,kpc, and the value becomes $4.1(\pm0.1)\times10^{10}$\,$M_\odot$ if $R_{\odot}=8.3$\,kpc; (5) The disk has a peak star formation rate ({\rm SFR}) changing from 6--8\,Gyr at the inner to 4--6\,Gyr ago at the outer part, indicating an inside-out assemblage history. Using a sample of about 123,000 stars with accurate 3D velocity measurements from the LAMOST-TGAS data, we confirm the kinematic signature of the Galactic warp found by Sch\"onrich & Dehnen recently. The data reveal a clear trend of increasing mean vertical velocity $\overline{V_{z}}$ as a function of absolute vertical angular momentum $L_{z}$ and azimuthal velocity $V_{\phi}$ for guiding center radius $R_{g}$ between 6.0 and 10.5 kpc. The trend is consistent with a large-scale Galactic warp. Similar to Sch\"onrich & Dehnen, we also find a wave-like pattern of $\overline{V_{z}}$ versus $L_{z}$ with an amplitude of $\sim 0.9$ km s$^{-1}$ on a scale of $\sim 2.0$ kpc, which could arise from bending waves or a winding warp. Finally, we confirm a prominent, localized peak in $\overline{V_z}$ near $L_z \sim 2150$ kpc km s$^{-1}$ (corresponding to $R_{g} \sim 9$ kpc and $V_{\phi} \sim 255$ km s$^{-1}$). The additional line-of-sight velocity information from LAMOST reveals that stars in this feature have a large, inward radial velocity of $V_{R} \sim -13.33 \pm 0.59$ km s$^{-1}$ and a small radial velocity dispersion $\sigma_{R} \sim 25.27 \pm 0.89$ km s$^{-1}$, suggesting that a stellar stream gives rise to this feature., Comment: ApJ accepted, 7 pages, 6 figures

Stellar systems composed of single, double, triple or high-order systems are rightfully regarded as the fundamental building blocks of the Milky Way. Binary stars play an important role in formation and evolution of the Galaxy. Through comparing the radial velocity variations from multi-epoch observations, we analyze the binary fraction of dwarf stars observed with the LAMOST. Effects of different model assumptions such as orbital period distributions on the estimate of binary fractions, are investigated. The results based on log-normal distribution of orbital periods reproduce the previous complete analyses better than the power-law distribution. We find that the binary fraction increases with $T_{\rm eff}$ and decreases with [Fe/H]. We first investigate the relation between $\alpha$-elements and binary fraction in such a large sample as the LAMOST. The old stars with high [$\alpha$/Fe] dominate higher binary fraction than young stars with low [$\alpha$/Fe]. At the same mass, former forming stars possess a higher binary fraction than newly forming ones, which may be related with the evolution of the Galaxy., Comment: 13 pages, 11 figures, RAA accepted

We analyze an asteroseismic binary system: KIC 7107778, a non-eclipsing, unresolved target, with solar-like oscillations in both components. We used \emph{Kepler} short cadence time series spanning nearly two years to obtain the power spectrum. Oscillation mode parameters were determined using Bayesian inference and a nested sampling Monte Carlo algorithm with the \texttt{DIAMONDS} package. The power profiles of the two components fully overlap, indicating their close similarity. We modelled the two stars with \texttt{MESA} and calculated oscillation frequencies with \texttt{GYRE}. Stellar fundamental parameters (mass, radius and age) were estimated by grid modelling with atmospheric parameters and the oscillation frequencies of $l=0,2$ modes as constraints. Most $l=1$ mixed modes were identified with models searched using a bisection method. Stellar parameters for the two sub-giant stars are: $M_A=1.42\pm0.06$ $M_{\astrosun}$, $M_B=1.39\pm0.03$ $M_{\astrosun}$, $R_A=2.93\pm0.05$ $R_{\astrosun}$, $R_B=2.76\pm0.04$ $R_{\astrosun}$, $t_A=3.32\pm0.54$ Gyr and $t_B=3.51\pm0.33$ Gyr. The mass difference of the system is $\sim$1\%. The results confirm their simultaneous birth and evolution, as is expected from binary formation. KIC 7107778 comprises almost identical twins, and is the first asteroseismic sub-giant binary to be detected., Comment: 13 pages, 8 figures

The Xuyi Schmidt Telescope Photometric Survey of the Galactic Anti-center (XSTPS-GAC) is a photometric sky survey that covers nearly 6 000 deg^2 towards Galactic anti-center in g r i bands. Half of its survey field locates on the Galactic Anti-center disk, which makes XSTPS-GAC highly suitable for searching new open clusters in the GAC region. In this paper, we report new open cluster candidates discovered in this survey, as well as properties of these open cluster candidates, such as age, distance and reddening, derived by isochrone fitting in the color-magnitude diagram (CMD). These open cluster candidates are stellar density peaks detected in the star density maps by applying the method from Koposov et al. (2008). Each candidate is inspected on its true color image composed from XSTPS-GAC three band images. Then its CMD is checked, in order to identify whether the central region stars have a clear isochrone-like trend differing from the background stars. The parameters derived from isochrone fitting for these candidates are mainly based on three band photometry of XSTPS-GAC. Meanwhile, when these new candidates are able to be seen clearly on 2MASS, their parameters are also derived based on 2MASS (J-H, J) CMD. Finally, there are 320 known open clusters rediscovered and 24 new open cluster candidates discovered in this work. Obtaining accurate and precise masses and ages for large numbers of giant stars is of great importance for unraveling the assemblage history of the Galaxy. In this paper, we estimate masses and ages of 6940 red giant branch (RGB) stars with asteroseismic parameters deduced from \emph{Kepler} photometry and stellar atmospheric parameters derived from LAMOST spectra. The typical uncertainties of mass is a few per cent, and that of age is $\sim$\,20 per cent. The sample stars reveal two separate sequences in the age -- [$\alpha$/Fe] relation -- a high--$\alpha$ sequence with stars older than $\sim$\,8\,Gyr and a low--$\alpha$ sequence composed of stars with ages ranging from younger than 1\,Gyr to older than 11\,Gyr. We further investigate the feasibility of deducing ages and masses directly from LAMOST spectra with a machine learning method based on kernel based principal component analysis, taking a sub-sample of these RGB stars as a training data set. We demonstrate that ages thus derived achieve an accuracy of $\sim$\,24 per cent. We also explored the feasibility of estimating ages and masses based on the spectroscopically measured carbon and nitrogen abundances. We report the discovery of two new unbound hypervelocity stars (HVSs) from the LAMOST spectroscopic surveys. They are respectively a B2V type star of ~ 7 M$_{\rm \odot}$ with a Galactic rest-frame radial velocity of 502 km/s at a Galactocentric radius of ~ 21 kpc and a B7V type star of ~ 4 M$_{\rm \odot}$ with a Galactic rest-frame radial velocity of 408 km/s at a Galactocentric radius of ~ 30 kpc. The origins of the two HVSs are not clear given their currently poorly measured proper motions. However, the future data releases of Gaia should provide proper motion measurements accurate enough to solve this problem. We present estimates of stellar age and mass for 0.93 million Galactic disk main sequence turn-off and sub-giant stars from the LAMOST Galactic Spectroscopic Surveys. The ages and masses are determined by matching with stellar isochrones using Bayesian algorithm, utilizing effective temperature $T_{\rm eff}$, absolute magnitude ${\rm M}_V$, metallicity [Fe/H] and $\alpha$-element to iron abundance ratio [$\alpha$/Fe] deduced from the LAMOST spectra. Extensive examinations suggest the age and mass estimates are robust. The overall sample stars have a median error of 34 per cent for the age estimates, and half of the stars older than 2\,Gyr have age uncertainties of only 20--30 per cent. Median error for the mass estimates of the whole sample stars is $\sim8$ per cent. The huge dataset demonstrates good correlations among stellar age, [Fe/H] ([$\alpha$/H]) and [$\alpha$/Fe]. Particularly, double sequence features are revealed in the both the age--[$\alpha$/Fe] and age--[Fe/H]([$\alpha$/H]) spaces. In the [Fe/H]--[$\alpha$/Fe] space, stars of 8--10\,Gyr exhibit both the thin and thick disk sequences, while younger (older) stars show only the thin (thick) disk sequence, indicating that the thin disk became prominent 8--10\,Gyr ago, while the thick disk formed earlier and almost quenched 8\,Gyr ago. Stellar ages exhibit positive vertical and negative radial gradients across the disk, and the outer disk of $R\gtrsim$\,9\,kpc exhibits a strong flare in stellar age distribution., Comment: 22 pages, 24 figures; Accepted for publication in ApJS

High precision and long-lasting \emph{Kepler} data enabled us to estimate stellar properties with asteroseismology as an accurate tool. We performed asteroseismic analysis on six solar-like stars observed by the \emph{Kepler} mission: KIC 6064910, KIC 6766513, KIC 7107778, KIC 10079226, KIC 10147635 and KIC 12069127. The extraction of seismic information includes two parts. First, we obtained two global asteroseismic parameters, mean large separation $\Delta\nu$ and frequency of maximum power $\nu_{\rm{max}}$, with autocorrelation function and collapsed autocorrelation function. Second, we extracted individual oscillation modes $\nu_{nl}$ with low-$l$ degree using a least-squares fit. Stellar grid models were built with Yale Rotating Stellar Evolution Code (YREC) to analyze stellar properties. They covered the range of $M=0.8\sim1.8$ $M_{\odot}$ with a step of 0.02 $M_{\odot}$ and $\rm{[Fe/H]}=-0.3\sim0.4$ $\rm{dex}$ with a step of 0.1 $\rm{dex}$. We used a Bayesian approach to estimate stellar fundamental parameters of the six stars, under the constraints of asteroseismic parameters ($\Delta\nu$, $\nu_{\rm{max}}$) and non-asteroseismic parameters ($T_{\rm{eff}}$, $\rm{[Fe/H]}$). We discover that the six targets include five sub-giant stars with $1.2\sim1.5$ $M_{\odot}$ and one main-sequence star with $1.08M_{\odot}$, and with ages in the range of $3\sim5$ $\rm{Gyr}$., Comment: Language improved

Recent investigations have shown that the extended main-sequence turnoffs (eMSTOs) are a common feature of intermediate-age star clusters in the Magellanic Clouds. The eMSTOs are also found in the color-magnitude diagram (CMD) of young-age star clusters. The origin of the eMSTOs is still an open question. Moreover, asteroseismology shows that the value of the overshooting parameter $\delta_{\rm ov}$ of the convective core is not fixed for the stars with an approximatelly equal mass. Thus the MSTO of star clusters may be affected by the overshooting of the convective core (OVCC). We calculated the effects of the OVCC with different $\delta_{\rm ov}$ on the MSTO of young- and intermediate-age star clusters. \textbf{If $\delta_{\rm ov}$ varies between stars in a cluster,} the observed eMSTOs of young- and intermediate-age star clusters can be explained well by the effects. The equivalent age spreads of MSTO caused by the OVCC are related to the age of star clusters and are in good agreement with observed results of many clusters. Moreover, the observed eMSTOs of NGC 1856 are reproduced by the coeval populations with different $\delta_{\rm ov}$. The eMSTOs of star clusters may be relevant to the effects of the OVCC. The effects of the OVCC \textbf{are similar to that of rotation in some respects. But the effects cannot result in a significant split of main sequence of young star clusters at $m_{U}\lesssim 21$.} The presence of a rapid rotation can make the split of main sequence of young star clusters more significant., Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ. We present the second release of value-added catalogues of the LAMOST Spectroscopic Survey of the Galactic Anticentre (LSS-GAC DR2). The catalogues present values of radial velocity $V_{\rm r}$, atmospheric parameters --- effective temperature $T_{\rm eff}$, surface gravity log$g$, metallicity [Fe/H], $\alpha$-element to iron (metal) abundance ratio [$\alpha$/Fe] ([$\alpha$/M]), elemental abundances [C/H] and [N/H], and absolute magnitudes ${\rm M}_V$ and ${\rm M}_{K_{\rm s}}$ deduced from 1.8 million spectra of 1.4 million unique stars targeted by the LSS-GAC since September 2011 until June 2014. The catalogues also give values of interstellar reddening, distance and orbital parameters determined with a variety of techniques, as well as proper motions and multi-band photometry from the far-UV to the mid-IR collected from the literature and various surveys. Accuracies of radial velocities reach 5kms$^{-1}$ for late-type stars, and those of distance estimates range between 10 -- 30 per cent, depending on the spectral signal-to-noise ratios. Precisions of [Fe/H], [C/H] and [N/H] estimates reach 0.1dex, and those of [$\alpha$/Fe] and [$\alpha$/M] reach 0.05dex. The large number of stars, the contiguous sky coverage, the simple yet non-trivial target selection function and the robust estimates of stellar radial velocities and atmospheric parameters, distances and elemental abundances, make the catalogues a valuable data set to study the structure and evolution of the Galaxy, especially the solar-neighbourhood and the outer disk., Comment: 27 pages, 20 figures, accepted by MNRAS

Photometric data from the Xuyi Schmidt Telescope Photometric Survey of the Galactic Anticentre (XSTPS-GAC) and the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) are used to derive the global structure parameters of the smooth components of the Milky Way. The data, which cover nearly 11,000 deg$^2$ sky area and the full range of Galactic latitude, allow us to construct a globally representative Galactic model. The number density distribution of Galactic halo stars is fitted with an oblate spheroid that decays by power law. The best-fit yields an axis ratio and a power law index $\kappa=0.65$ and $p=2.79$, respectively. The $r$-band differential star counts of three dwarf samples are then fitted with a Galactic model. The best-fit model yielded by a Markov Chain Monte Carlo analysis has thin and thick disk scale heights and lengths of $H_{1}=$ 322\,pc and $L_{1}=$2343\,pc, $H_{2}=$794\,pc and $L_{2}=$3638\,pc, a local thick-to-thin disk density ratio of $f_2=$11\,per\,cent, and a local density ratio of the oblate halo to the thin disk of $f_h=$0.16\,per\,cent. The measured star count distribution, which is in good agreement with the above model for most of the sky area, shows a number of statistically significant large scale overdensities, including some of the previously known substructures, such as the Virgo overdensity and the so-called "north near structure", and a new feature between 150\degr $< l < $ 240\degr~and $-1$5\degr $< b < $ $-$5\degr, at an estimated distance between 1.0 and 1.5\,kpc. Main sequence turn-off (MSTO) stars have advantages as indicators of Galactic evolution since their ages could be robustly estimated from atmospheric parameters. Hundreds of thousands of MSTO stars have been selected from the LAMOST Galactic sur- vey to study the evolution of the Galaxy, and it is vital to derive accurate stellar parameters. In this work, we select 150 MSTO star candidates from the MSTO stars sample of Xiang that have asteroseismic parameters and determine accurate stellar parameters for these stars combing the asteroseismic parameters deduced from the Kepler photometry and atmospheric parameters deduced from the LAMOST spectra.With this sample, we examine the age deter- mination as well as the contamination rate of the MSTO stars sample. A comparison of age between this work and Xiang shows a mean difference of 0.53 Gyr (7%) and a dispersion of 2.71 Gyr (28%). The results show that 79 of the candidates are MSTO stars, while the others are contaminations from either main sequence or sub-giant stars. The contamination rate for the oldest stars is much higher than that for the younger stars. The main cause for the high contamination rate is found to be the relatively large systematic bias in the LAMOST surface gravity estimates., Comment: accepted by RAA

The ratios $r_{01}$ and $r_{10}$ of small to large separations of KIC 2837475 primarily exhibit an increase behavior in the observed frequency range. The calculations indicate that only the models with overshooting parameter $\delta_{\rm ov}$ between approximately 1.2 and 1.6 can reproduce the observed ratios $r_{01}$ and $r_{10}$ of KIC 2837475. The ratios $r_{01}$ and $r_{10}$ of the frequency separations of p-modes with inner turning points that are located in the overshooting region of convective core can exhibit an increase behavior. The frequencies of the modes that can reach the overshooting region decrease with the increase in $\delta_{\rm ov}$. Thus the ratio distributions are more sensitive to $\delta_{\rm ov}$ than to other parameters. The increase behavior of the KIC 2837475 ratios results from a direct effect of the overshooting of convective core. The characteristic of the ratios provides a strict constraint on stellar models. Observational constraints point to a star with $M=1.490\pm0.018$ $M_{\odot}$, $R=1.67\pm0.01$ $R_{\odot}$, age $=2.8\pm0.4$ Gyr, and $1.2\lesssim$ $\delta_{\rm ov}$ $\lesssim1.6$ for KIC 2837475., Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS. 9 pages, 10 figures. Asteroseismology provides a powerful way to constrain stellar parameters. Solar-like oscillations have been observed on subgiant stars with the \emph{Kepler\/} mission. The continuous and high-precision time series enables us to carry out a detailed asteroseismic study for these stars. We carry out data processing of two subgiants of spectral type G: KIC 6442183 and KIC 11137075 observed with the \emph{Kepler} mission, and perform seismic analysis for the two evolved stars. We estimate the values of global asteroseismic parameters: $\Delta\nu=64.9\pm 0.2 $ $\mu$Hz and $\nu_{\rm max}=1225 \pm 17$ $\mu$Hz for KIC 6442183, $\Delta\nu=65.5\pm 0.2 $ $\mu$Hz and $\nu_{\rm max}=1171 \pm 8$ $\mu$Hz for KIC 11137075, respectively. In addition, we extract the individual mode frequencies of the two stars. We compare stellar models and observations, including mode frequencies and mode inertias. The mode inertias of mixed modes, which are sensitive to the stellar interior, are used to constrain stellar models. We define a quantity $d\nu_{\rm m-p}$ that measures the difference between the mixed modes and the expected pure pressure modes, which is related to the inertia ratio of mixed modes to radial modes. Asteroseismic together with spectroscopic constraints provide the estimations of the stellar parameters: $M = 1.04_{-0.04}^{+0.01} M_{\odot}$, $R = 1.66_{-0.02}^{+0.01} R_{\odot}$ and $t=8.65_{-0.06}^{+1.12}$ Gyr for KIC 6442183, and $M = 1.00_{-0.01}^{+0.01} M_{\odot}$, $R = 1.63_{-0.01}^{+0.01} R_{\odot}$ and $t=10.36_{-0.20}^{+0.01}$ Gyr for KIC 11137075. The oscillations of the solar-like star HD 49933 have been observed thoroughly by CoRot. Two dozens of frequency shifts, which are closely related with the change in magnetic activity, have been measured. To explore the effects of the magnetic activity on the frequency shifts, we calculate frequency shifts for the radial and $l = 1$ p-modes of HD 49933 with the general variational method, which evaluates the shifts using a spatial integral of the product of a kernel and some sources. The theoretical frequency shifts well reproduce the observation. The magnitudes and positions of the sources are determined according to the $\chi^2$ criterion. We predict the source that contributes to both $l = 0$ and $l = 1$ modes is located at $0.48 - 0.62$Mm below the stellar surface. In addition, based on the assumption that $A_{0}$ is proportional to the change in the MgII activity index $\Delta{i}_{MgII}$, we obtained that the change of MgII index between minimum and maximum of HD 49933 cycle period is about 0.665. The magnitude of the frequency shifts compared to the Sun already told us that HD 49933 is much more active than the Sun, which is further confirmed in this paper. Furthermore, our calculation on the frequency shifts of $l = 1$ modes indicates the variation of turbulent velocity in the stellar convective zone may be an important source for the $l = 1$ shifts., Comment: 10 pages, 3 figures, article

The frequency ratios and of HD 49933 exhibit an increase at high frequencies. This behavior also exists in the ratios of other stars, which is considered to result from the low signal-to-noise ratio and the larger line width at the high-frequency end and could not be predicted by stellar models in previous work. Our calculations show that the behavior not only can be reproduced by stellar models, but can be predicted by asymptotic formulas of the ratios. The frequency ratios of the Sun, too, can be reproduced well by the asymptotic formulas. The increased behavior derives from the fact that the gradient of mean molecular weight at the bottom of the radiative region hinders the propagation of p-modes, while the hindrance does not exist in the convective core. This behavior should exist in the ratios of stars with a large convective core. The characteristic of the ratios at high frequencies provides a strict constraint on stellar models and aids in determining the size of the convective core and the extent of overshooting. Observational constraints point to a star with $M=1.28\pm0.01 M_{\odot}$, $R=1.458\pm0.005 R_{\odot}$, $t=1.83\pm0.1$ Gyr, $r_{cc}=0.16\pm0.02 R_{\odot}$, $\alpha=1.85\pm0.05$, and $\delta_{ov}=0.6\pm0.2$ for HD 49933., Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ. It was found that the equatorial velocity of A-type stars undergoes an acceleration in the first third of the main sequence (MS) stage, but the velocity decreases as if the stars were not undergoing any redistribution of angular momentum in the external layers in the last stage of the MS phase. Our calculations show that the acceleration and the decrease of the equatorial velocity can be reproduced by the evolution of the differential rotation zero-age MS model with the angular momentum transport caused by hydrodynamic instabilities during the MS stage. The acceleration results from the fact that the angular momentum stored in the interiors of the stars is transported outwards. In the last stage, the core and the radiative envelope are uncoupling, and the rotation of the envelope is a quasi-solid rotation; the uncoupling and the expansion of the envelope lead to that the decrease of the equatorial velocity approximately follows the slope for the change in the equatorial velocity of the model without any redistribution of angular momentum. When the fractional age 0.3 $\lesssim\mathrm{t/t_{MS}}\lesssim$ 0.5, the equatorial velocity remains almost constant for the stars whose central density increases with age in the early stage of the MS phase, while the velocity decreases with age for the stars whose central density decreases with age in the early stage of the MS phase., Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJL. 8 pagers, 5 figures

We calculated the populations of core-helium-burning (CHeB) stars and found that the secondary red clump (SRC) stars can form an SRC peak in the distributions of the frequency of maximum seismic amplitude ($\nu_{max}$) and mean large-frequency separation ($\Delta\nu$) of CHeB stars when metallicity $Z \geq$ 0.02. The $\nu_{max}$ and $\Delta\nu$ of CHeB stars are dependent not only on He core mass but on H-shell burning. The SRC peak is composed of the CHeB stars with mass roughly between the critical mass M_{Hef} and M_{Hef}+0.2 while He core mass is between about 0.33 and 0.36 M_{sun}. The location of the SRC peak can be affected by the mixing-length parameter $\alpha$, metallicity $Z$, and overshooting parameter $\delta_{ov}$. A decrease in $\alpha$ or increase in $Z$ or $\delta_{ov}$ leads to a movement of the SRC peak towards a lower frequency. However, the change in $Z$ and $\alpha$ only slightly affects the value of M_{Hef} but the variation in $\delta_{ov}$ can significantly affects the value of M_{Hef}. Thus the SRC peak might aid in determining the value of M_{Hef} and calibrating $\delta_{ov}$. In addition, the effects of convective acceleration of SRC stars and the $\nu_{max}$ of `semi-degenerate' stars decreasing with mass result in the appearance of a shoulder between about 40 and 50 $\mu$hz in the \dnu{} distribution. However, the convective acceleration of stars with M < M_{Hef} leads to the deficit in the $\nu_{max}$ distribution between about 9 and 20 $\mu$hz{}. Moreover, the value of the parameter $b$ of the relation between $\nu_{max}$ and $\Delta\nu$ for the populations with M > M_{Hef} is obviously larger than that for the populations with $M <$ \dmhef{}., Comment: 10 pages, 15 figures. Double or extended main-sequence turn-offs (DMSTOs) and dual red clump (RC) were observed in intermediate-age clusters, such as in NGC 1846 and 419. the DMSTOs are interpreted as that the cluster has two distinct stellar popula- tions with differences in age of about 200-300 Myr but with the same metallicity. The dual RC is interpreted as a result of a prolonged star formation. Using a stellar population-synthesis method, we calculated the evolutions of binary-star stellar population (BSP). We found that binary interactions and merging can reproduce the dual RC in the color-magnitude diagrams of an intermediate-age cluster, whereas in actuality only a single population exists. Moreover, the binary interactions can lead to an extended MSTO rather than DMSTOs. However, the rest of main sequence, subgiant branch and first giant branch are hardly spread by the binary interactions.
