Abstract Background Magnetotactic bacteria (MTB) are a unique group of microorganisms that sense and navigate through the geomagnetic field by biomineralizing magnetic nanoparticles. MTB from the phylum Nitrospirota (previously known as Nitrospirae) thrive in diverse aquatic ecosystems. They are of great interest due to their production of hundreds of magnetite (Fe3O4) magnetosome nanoparticles per cell, which far exceeds that of other MTB. The morphological, phylogenetic, and genomic diversity of Nitrospirota MTB have been extensively studied. However, the metabolism and ecophysiology of Nitrospirota MTB are largely unknown due to the lack of cultivation techniques. Methods Here, we established a method to link the morphological, genomic, and metabolic investigations of an uncultured Nitrospirota MTB population (named LHC-1) at the single-cell level using nanoscale secondary-ion mass spectrometry (NanoSIMS) in combination with rRNA-based in situ hybridization and target-specific mini-metagenomics. Results We magnetically separated LHC-1 from a freshwater lake and reconstructed the draft genome of LHC-1 using genome-resolved mini-metagenomics. We found that 10 LHC-1 cells were sufficient as a template to obtain a high-quality draft genome. Genomic analysis revealed that LHC-1 has the potential for CO2 fixation and NO3 − reduction, which was further characterized at the single-cell level by combining stable-isotope incubations and NanoSIMS analyses over time. Additionally, the NanoSIMS results revealed specific element distributions in LHC-1, and that the heterogeneity of CO2 and NO3 − metabolisms among different LHC-1 cells increased with incubation time. Conclusions To our knowledge, this study provides the first metabolic measurements of individual Nitrospirota MTB cells to decipher their ecophysiological traits. The procedure constructed in this study provides a promising strategy to simultaneously investigate the morphology, genome, and ecophysiology of uncultured microbes in natural environments. Instant rice is a kind of convenient food, which is easy to eat, simple and quick. Instant rice not only conform to ours people’s habits of eating rice, but also meets the needs of the current fast-paced life, which has developed rapidly in recent years. With the further improvement of domestic fresh rice technology and equipment, the wet instant rice industry, such as frozen instant rice, aseptic instant rice, and short-shelf-life instant rice, will be further developed. This paper summarized the main factors affecting the quality of dry instant rice, including raw material varieties, processing precision, processing technology and conditions, and focused on the key technologies of industrial processing of fresh rice, including aseptic processing, high temperature sterilization, ultra-high pressure treatment, etc. The latest research progress of extrusion and recombination instant rice was also reviewed, and the existing problems and future development direction of instant rice were discussed.

Abstract Background The intrusion of maxillary anterior teeth is often required and there are various intrusion modes with mini-implants in clear aligner treatment. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of maxillary anterior teeth intrusion with different intrusion modes, aiming to provide references for precise and safe intrusion movements in clinical practice. Methods Cone-beam computed tomography and intraoral optical scanning data of a patient were collected. Finite element models of the maxilla, maxillary dentition, periodontal ligaments (PDLs), clear aligner (CA), attachments, and mini-implants were established. Different intrusion modes of the maxillary anterior teeth were simulated by changing the mini-implant site (between central incisors, between central and lateral incisor, between lateral incisor and canine), loading site (between central incisors, on central incisor, between central and lateral incisor, between lateral incisor and canine), and loading mode (labial loading and labiolingual loading). Ten conditions were generated and intrusive forces of 100 g were applied totally. Then displacement tendency of the maxillary anterior teeth and CA, and stress of the PDLs were analyzed. Results For the central incisor under condition L14 and for the canine under conditions L11, L13, L23, and L33, the intrusion amount was negative. Under other conditions, the intrusion amount was positive. The labiolingual angulation of maxillary anterior teeth exhibited positive changes under all conditions, with greater changes under linguoincisal loading. The mesiodistal angulation of canine exhibited positive changes under labial loading, while negative changes under linguoincisal loading except for condition L14. Conclusions The intrusion amount, labiolingual and mesiodistal angulations of the maxillary anterior teeth were affected by the mini-implant site, loading site, and loading mode. Labial and linguoincisal loading may have opposite effects on the intrusion amount of maxillary anterior teeth and the mesiodistal angulation of canine. The labiolingual angulation of the maxillary incisors would increase under all intrusion modes, with greater increases under linguoincisal loading.

In order to sort out the research process and hotspots of honey safety, this paper was based on the China national knowledge infrastructure (CNKI) database and the Web of Science (WOS) core collection, utilizing CiteSpace software to analyze and visualize publication trends, journals, authors, institutions, countries (regions), keywords, and other relevant information. The aforementioned databases yielded a total of 169 Chinese and 281 English literatures. The analysis revealed that the number of publications in Chinese literature on honey safety had been steadily increasing since 2011. The number of publications in English literature had displayed an oscillating upward trend since 2007, with a higher volume of publications in English literature over the past fifteen years compared to Chinese literature. ZHANG Q and GUNDUZ A were the most prolific authors in Chinese and English literature, respectively. While there were established cooperative relationships between researchers in both fields, collaborations between different groups remained relatively limited. Journal of Bee and Food Chemistry were the leading journals for publications on honey safety in English and Chinese, respectively. Both English and Chinese publishing journals primarily focused on the food industry. Yunnan Province Center for Disease Control and Prevention and Karadeniz Technical University were the research institutions with the highest publication output in Chinese and English, respectively. However, there was limited collaboration between research institutes in China. Turkey was the most influential country among the study countries (regions), followed by China, Poland, and New Zealand. During the initial stages of research, Chinese literature primarily explored topics such as "botulinum toxin" "pollen plants" "Triperygium wilfordii Hook. f." and "honey poisoning". However, after 2000, advancements in technologies such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy led to the emergence of new keywords like "melissopalynology" and "gas chromatography". Consequently, gas chromatography, liquid chromatography, liquid-mass spectrometry, and scanning electron microscopy gained popularity as methods for detecting honey safety in research. During the early stages of research, English literature primarily delved into topics such as "pyrrolizidine alkaloids" "mad honey" "grayanotoxin" and "natural toxicants". This indicates that during this time, the primary emphasis was on studying toxic honey and natural toxins found in honey, specifically pyrrolizidine alkaloids and grayanotoxin. As technologies such as chromatography advanced, keywords like "mass spectrometry" began to emerge. It could be seen that the research in Chinese and English literature was focused on similar topics, such as toxic honey, honey poisoning, and the detection and tracing of toxic components in honey. However, there were slight differences in emphasis. In China, the main toxic nectar plants were Triperygium wilfordii Hook. f., Gelsemium elegans (Gardn. & Champ.) Benth. and Macleaya cordata (Willd.) R. Br., while the main toxic components detected in honey were triptolide and koumine. In foreign countries, honey poisoning incidents were mostly caused by grayanotoxin, pyrrolizidine alkaloids or tutin. This study provides reference for analyzing the research content and development process of honey safety and identifying research hotspots.

Abstract Establishing appropriate metal-support interactions is imperative for acquiring efficient and corrosion-resistant catalysts for water splitting. Herein, the interaction mechanism between Ru nanoparticles and a series of titanium oxides, including TiO, Ti4O7 and TiO2, designed via facile non-stoichiometric engineering is systematically studied. Ti4O7, with the unique band structure, high conductivity and chemical stability, endows with ingenious metal-support interaction through interfacial Ti–O–Ru units, which stabilizes Ru species during OER and triggers hydrogen spillover to accelerate HER kinetics. As expected, Ru/Ti4O7 displays ultralow overpotentials of 8 mV and 150 mV for HER and OER with a long operation of 500 h at 10 mA cm−2 in acidic media, which is expanded in pH-universal environments. Benefitting from the excellent bifunctional performance, the proton exchange membrane and anion exchange membrane electrolyzer assembled with Ru/Ti4O7 achieves superior performance and robust operation. The work paves the way for efficient energy conversion devices.

In order to investigate the quality of whole wheat bread flour in Chinese market, the physicochemical quality, rheological properties, processing quality and baking quality of 10 representative whole-wheat bread flour(WWBF) were analyzed. The results showed that the moisture content of WWBF ranged from 8.30 g/100 g to 13.39 g/100 g. The ash content of WWBF ranged from 0.6 g/100 to 2.5 g/100 g, with an average of 1.5 g/100 g. The protein contents of WWBF were between 13.92 g/100 g and 15.86 g/100 g. The content of wet gluten ranged from 30.20% to 47.10%. The average dietary fiber was 10.25 g/100 g, and the dietary fiber of 9 samples were between 8.65 g/100 g and 14.31 g/100 g. The content of alkylresorcinol of WWBF in 9 samples ranged from 234.72 μg/g to 508.48 μg/g. There were 7 samples with stabilization time longer than 7 min and 9 samples with stabilization time longer than 5 min. The maximum fermentation height Hm of dough were between 23.8 mm and 42.9 mm. The whole wheat bread with 60% WWBF had a good appearance, bread structure, soft taste and rich flavor. The sensory scores of whole-wheat bread ranged from 77.8 to 102.0. Whole wheat breads were all qualified. In short, WWBF products in China were relatively lack. The dietary fiber content and alkyl resorcinol content of WWBF were higher, and the processing quality and baking quality were good.

The three-dimensional electrocatalytic oxidation (3DEO) is a promising electrochemical system in the treatment of refractory wastewater, but still far from large-scale applications. In this work, we prepared 146.5 Kg Ti-Sn-Sb@γ-Al2O3 particle electrodes to construct a 3DEO system for the pretreatment of hypersaline and high-organic wastewater in an industrial park sewage plant, with activated carbon particle electrodes as a comparison. The average COD removal rates of Ti-Sn-Sb@γ-Al2O3 and activated carbon-based 3DEO systems were 24.43 and 48.73%, respectively, and the energy consumption of the two 3DEO systems were 102.8 and 31.4 kWh/Kg COD, respectively. However, compared to the negligible enhancement of wastewater biodegradability in the activated carbon 3DEO system, the Ti-Sn-Sb@γ-Al2O3 3DEO system greatly improved the biochemical index (B/C) from 0.021 to 0.166 (by 690.5%). Due to its superior catalytic capacity, Ti-Sn-Sb@γ-Al2O3 outperforms activated carbon in improving biodegradability as the latter relies mainly on adsorption. The results of this work provide a 3DEO engineering practice experience on the pretreatment of hypersaline and high-organic wastewater. HIGHLIGHTS A three-dimensional electrocatalytic oxidation (3DEO) system was established to pretreat hypersaline and high-organic wastewater.; Ti-Sn-Sb@γ-Al2O3 3DEO shows good ability to improve biodegradability.; Activated carbon 3DEO system shows higher but gradually decreasing COD removal.; Energy consumption is low in the pilot-scale pretreatment process.; Ti-Sn-Sb@γ-Al2O3 electrodes retain major active species in long-term use.;

Abstract Background Haloxylon ammodendron holds significance as an ecological plant, showcasing remarkable adaptability to desert conditions, halophytic environments, and sand fixation. With its potential for carbon sequestration, it emerges as a promising candidate for environmental sustainability. Furthermore, it serves as a valuable C4 plant model, offering insights into the genetic foundations of extreme drought tolerance. Despite the availability of plastid and nuclear genomes, the absence of a mitochondrial genome (mitogenome or mtDNA) hinders a comprehensive understanding of its its mtDNA structure, organization, and phylogenetic implications. Results In the present study, the mitochondrial genome of H. ammodendron was assembled and annotated, resulting in a multi-chromosomal configuration with two circular chromosomes. The mtDNA measured 210,149 bp in length and contained 31 protein-coding genes, 18 tRNA and three rRNA. Our analysis identified a total of 66 simple sequence repeats along with 27 tandem repeats, 312 forward repeats, and 303 palindromic repeats were found. Notably, 17 sequence fragments displayed homology between the mtDNA and chloroplast genome (cpDNA), spanning 5233 bp, accounting for 2.49% of the total mitogenome size. Additionally, we predicted 337 RNA editing sites, all of the C-to-U conversion type. Phylogenetic inference confidently placed H. ammodendron in the Amaranthacea family and its close relative, Suaeda glacum. Conclusions H. ammodendron mtDNA showed a multi-chromosomal structure with two fully circularized molecules. This newly characterized mtDNA represents a valuable resource for gaining insights into the basis of mtDNA structure variation within Caryophyllales and the evolution of land plants, contributing to their identification, and classification.

This paper reviewed the effects of dietary fiber on the quality of dough and frozen dough, the changes of fermentation characteristics and Rheology characteristics of whole wheat frozen dough in the process of freezing and cold storage, and the research on the quality improvement of whole wheat frozen dough by food improvers. By analyzing the deterioration reasons of gluten protein, starch, fermentation properties, Rheology properties, etc. in the whole wheat frozen dough during freezing and cold storage, the theoretical basis and practical reference for improving the quality of whole wheat frozen dough were provided.

Existing studies have clearly demonstrated that people eating more whole grains have reduced risks of many chronic metabolic diseases compared to those eating less. In the past 20 years, the whole grain industry has developed so rapidly in major developed countries and regions. In recent years, whole grains have also attracted extensive attention in our country. The research and development efforts of the whole grain standards in China have been strengthened. This paper introduced the progress of the global definition consensus of whole grain and whole grain food, summarized the international development status of whole grain raw materials and whole grain food related standards in many countries and institutions, such as the Working Group of ISO Whole Grain, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, Codex Alimentarius Commission, and so on. This paper also reviewed the present situation of definition of the whole grain and whole grain food related standards in China. More than 20 relevant raw materials, food related standards and production technical regulations and the publishment situation of other whole grain standards in China, including national standards and industry standards and local standards and group standards, were summarized, and some whole grain related standards under formulation were also introduced. Finally, the paper puts forward the development direction and suggestions for the construction of whole grain standard system in China, including fully combining with the actual production situation of China’s whole grain food industry, integrating with international standards, and combining standard testing and certification. On the whole, the gradual improvement of the standard system of the whole grain food industry will help guide and regulate the high-quality and healthy development of the whole grain industry in China, and promote the creation of a diversified and healthy grain food ecology, and provide a technical basis for the development of the whole grain industry.

The fumigant has been approved by the World Health Organization for use in grain storage, targeting the eradication of pests in areas where grain is stored or transported to reduce insect and mold activities, thereby minimizing storage losses. Phosphine is featured by its economic viability, application readibility, rapid diffusion, and lack of residue, making it advantageous for comprehensive pest control. It demonstrates high efficacy against various harmful organisms in storage, making it one of major fumigants worldwide. However, the elimination of some fumigants has increased dependence on phosphine. The lack of standardized guidance and inappropriate use of phosphine have led to severe resistance among stored grain pests, posing a threat to the effectiveness and sustainability of phosphine treatment. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the current status and trends of phosphine resistance in stored grain pests on the global. It analyzes the genetic basis of resistance, focusing on respiratory and cuticle-related gene expression and detoxification enzyme mechanisms. A comparison of four resistance detection methods—FAO, discriminating does bioassay, rapid knockdown, and molecular identification—is rendered. The study explores key strategies for resistance management, including optimization of fumigation protocols, laboratory and field validations, and application recommendations. The aim is to offer reference information for the scientific and rational use of phosphine and the development of alternative pest control methods in the future.

To evaluate the effects of varying proportions of yak meat in feed on the growth of rats and provide a theoretical basis for selecting the optimal feed proportion suitable for rats. This study was designed as a one-variable experiment. Fifty male rats were divided into five groups. The ratios of yak meat to basal feed of rats in four dietary treatment groups were 2:8, 4:6, 6:4, and 8:2, respectively, while those in the control group were only provided a basal diet. In the feeding experiment, the body weights of the rats were recorded on Day 0 and subsequently in the first, second, third, and fourth weeks, along with quantities of feed intake. The body and tail lengths, as well as the waist circumference of the rats, were measured, and blood samples were collected in the fourth week for routine blood and biochemistry investigations. The rats in the 4:6 feed group had the best body condition. They had normal body and tail lengths, smaller waist circumferences, good posture, and were in better overall health than rats in the other groups. The results indicate that the 4:6 diet was optimal for enhancing rats’ growth performance compared to the other diets.

Facilitating the separation of photogenerated charges is a crucial process in photocatalytic degradation of pollutants. In this study, Bi2O3/In2O3 composites were prepared using a co-precipitation method and subsequently calcined at 400 ℃ for 1 h. The Mott-Schottky curves confirmed a p(Bi2O3)-n(In2O3) heterojunction was yielded. Due to the significant difference in Fermi levels between Bi2O3 and In2O3, an internal electric field was established at the interface, with field lines directed from In2O3 to Bi2O3. Under illumination, the excited electrons accumulated in the conduction band (CB) of In2O3, while holes gathered in the valence band (VB) of Bi2O3, promoting charge separation and enhancing quantum efficiency. The composite material exhibited the highest photocatalytic activity when the atomic percentage of Bi to In was 1:1, with the first-order reaction rate constant of BI-1 increasing to 0.0149 min−1, which is 4.3 and 4.4 multiples higher than that of pure In2O3 and pure Bi2O3. Recycling experiments demonstrated that the photocatalytic composite possesses good reusability and structural stability.

IntroductionGastrodia elata Blume is a widely used medicinal and edible herb with a rich chemical composition. Moreover, prescriptions containing Gastrodia elata are commonly used for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular, cerebrovascular, and aging-related diseases. Recent pharmacological studies have confirmed the antioxidant and neuroprotective effects of Gastrodia elata, and, in recent years, this herb has also been used in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and other neurodegenerative disorders. We have previously shown that 4,4′-methylenediphenol, a key active ingredient of Gastrodia elata, can mitigate amyloid-β (Aβ)-induced paralysis in AD model worms as well as prolong the lifespan of the animals, thus displaying potential as a treatment of AD.MethodsWe investigated the effects of 4,4′-methylenediphenol on AD and aging through paralysis, lifespan, and behavioral assays. In addition, we determined the anti-AD effects of 4,4′-methylenediphenol by reactive oxygen species (ROS) assay, lipofuscin analysis, thioflavin S staining, metabolomics analysis, GFP reporter gene worm assay, and RNA interference assay and conducted in-depth studies on its mechanism of action.Results4,4′-Methylenediphenol not only delayed paralysis onset and senescence in the AD model worms but also enhanced their motility and stress tolerance. Meanwhile, 4,4′-methylenediphenol treatment also reduced the contents of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and lipofuscin, and decreased Aβ protein deposition in the worms. Broad-spectrum targeted metabolomic analysis showed that 4,4′-methylenediphenol administration had a positive effect on the metabolite profile of the worms. In addition, 4,4′-methylenediphenol promoted the nuclear translocation of DAF-16 and upregulated the expression of SKN-1, SOD-3, and GST-4 in the respective GFP reporter lines, accompanied by an enhancement of antioxidant activity and a reduction in Aβ toxicity; importantly, our results suggested that these effects of 4,4′-methylenediphenol were mediated, at least partly, via the activation of DAF-16.ConclusionWe have demonstrated that 4,4′-methylenediphenol can reduce Aβ-induced toxicity in AD model worms, suggesting that it has potential for development as an anti-AD drug. Our findings provide ideas and references for further research into the anti-AD effects of Gastrodia elata and its active ingredients.

IntroductionGastrodia elata is the dried tuber of the orchid Gastrodia elata Bl. It is considered a food consisting of a source of precious medicinal herbs, whose chemical composition is relatively rich. Gastrodia elata and its extracted fractions have been shown to have neuroprotective effects. P-hydroxybenzaldehyde (p-HBA), as one of the main active components of Gastrodia elata, has anti-inflammatory, antioxidative stress, and cerebral protective effects, which has potential for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The aim of this study was to verify the role of p-HBA in AD treatment and to investigate its mechanism of action in depth based using the Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) model.MethodsIn this study, we used paralysis, lifespan, behavioral and antistress experiments to investigate the effects of p-HBA on AD and aging. Furthermore, we performed reactive oxygen species (ROS) assay, thioflavin S staining, RNA-seq analysis, qPCR validation, PCR Array, and GFP reporter gene worm experiment to determine the anti-AD effects of p-HBA, as well as in-depth studies on its mechanisms.Resultsp-HBA was able to delay paralysis, improve mobility and resistance to stress, and delay aging in the AD nematode model. Further mechanistic studies showed that ROS and lipofuscin levels, Aβ aggregation, and toxicity were reduced after p-HBA treatment, suggesting that p-HBA ameliorated Aβ-induced toxicity by enhancing antioxidant and anti-aging activity and inhibiting Aβ aggregation. p-HBA had a therapeutic effect on AD by improving stress resistance, as indicated by the down-regulation of NLP-29 and UCR-11 expression and up-regulation of PQN-75 and LYS-3 expression. In addition, the gene microarray showed that p-HBA treatment played a positive role in genes related to AD, anti-aging, ribosomal protein pathway, and glucose metabolism, which were collectively involved in the anti-AD mechanism of p-HBA. Finally, we also found that p-HBA promoted nuclear localization of DAF-16 and increased the expression of SKN-1, SOD-3, and GST-4, which contributed significantly to inhibition of Aβ toxicity and enhancement of antioxidative stress.ConclusionOur work suggests that p-HBA has some antioxidant and anti-aging activities. It may be a viable candidate for the treatment and prevention of Alzheimer’s disease.

Microplastics (MPs) are plastic particles

Yellow tea is a lightly fermented tea with unique sensory qualities and health benefits. However, chemical composition and sensory quality of yellow tea products have rarely been studied. 12 representative yellow teas, which were basically covered the main products of yellow tea, were chosen in this study. Combined analysis of non-targeted/targeted metabolomics and electronic sensor technologies (E-eye, E-nose, E-tongue) revealed the chemical and sensor variation. The results showed that yellow big tea differed greatly from yellow bud teas and yellow little teas, but yellow bud teas could not be effectively distinguished from yellow little teas based on chemical constituents and electronic sensory characteristics. Sensor variation of yellow teas might be attributed to some compounds related to bitterness and aftertaste-bitterness (4′-dehydroxylated gallocatechin-3-O-gallate, dehydrotheasinensin C, myricitin 3-O-galactoside, phloroglucinol), aftertaste-astringency (methyl gallate, 1,5-digalloylglucose, 2,6-digalloylglucose), and sweetness (maltotriose). This study provided a comprehensive understanding of yellow tea on chemical composition and sensory quality.

Whole grains have gained great attention due to their important roles in nutrition and health. Fresh brown rice noodles, which have been considered as a nutritious and healthy whole grain staple food, are more prone to be spoiling, aging, hardening and easy broken with high cooking loss rate. The factors affecting the quality of fresh brown rice noodles were systematically described, and the changes in water content, pH value, cooking quality, water migration, texture and microstructure of fresh brown rice noodles during storage were also summarized. The mechanism of quality deterioration of fresh brown rice noodles was elaborated and analyzed. Furthermore, the latest research progress (from the year 2016 to 2023) on the quality control technology of fresh brown rice noodles was reviewed, including the selection of raw materials for brown rice, the addition of exogenous additives, the whole grain grinding of brown rice, and the backfilling method of rice bran for preparing brown rice noodles. This review could provide the references for the quality control and improvement of fresh brown rice noodles.

Headspace solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) and sensory evaluation were used to investigate the aroma characteristics of different dark tea products (Fu brick tea, Dark brick tea, Tibetan tea, Liupao tea, and Tianjian dark tea). Sensory evaluation results showed that the aroma characteristics of the five dark tea samples differed remarkably. Fungal and stale aromas were the major aroma profiles of Fu brick tea. Results showed that, Liupao tea had obvious persistent areca-like and stale aromas, Tibetan tea had a persistent stale aroma, and Dark brick tea exhibited a pure aroma feature. Furthermore, Tianjian dark tea showed a persistent smoked aroma. The following rank order of the score of the sensory evaluation in the five dark teas was observed: Tibetan tea (91.35) > Fu brick tea (90.15) > Dark brick tea (89.05) > Liupao tea (88.85) > Tianjian dark tea (86.33). A total of 56 volatile compounds were identified in the five dark teas. The composition and content of aroma components varied significantly among the different dark teas. Contents of the volatile compounds in the five dark teas with the following rank order: Fu brick tea (6355.30 μg/L) > Tibetan tea (5858.73 μg/L) > Dark brick tea (5789.71 μg/L) > Tianjian dark tea (4801.37 μg/L) > Liupao tea (3740.14 μg/L). Multivariate statistical analysis and odor activity values analyses showed that 1,2,3-trimethoxybenzene was the characteristic volatile component of the stale aroma of Tibetan tea. (E,E)-2, 4-decadienal, (E,E)-2, 4-nonadienal, citral I, citral II, hexanal, and methyl salicylate contributed to the fungal aroma of Fu brick tea, while 1,2,3-trimethoxybenzene was the key contributor to the stale aroma of Fu brick tea. In Liupao tea, (+)-cedrol was a major contributor to the areca-like aroma. (E,E)-2, 4-decadienal, (E,E)-2, 4-nonadienal, hexanal, and phytol were the main contributors to the pine-smoked aroma of Tianjian dark tea. The pure aroma of Dark brick tea was formed by the comprehensive action of many volatile components, including benzene ethanol, neroltertiary alcohol II, and oxidized linalool I. This study would provide a statistical basis for exploring the aroma quality of different types of dark teas.

Synechococcus is abundant and globally widespread in various marine environments. Seasonal and spatial variations in Synechococcus abundance, pigment types, and genetic diversity were investigated based on flow cytometric analysis and high-throughput sequencing of cpcBA operon (encoding phycocyanin) and rpoC1 gene (encoding RNA polymerase) in a temperate semi-enclosed bay. Synechococcus abundance exhibited seasonal variations with the highest value in summer and the lowest value in winter, which was consistent with temperature variation. Three pigment types of Synechococcus type 1, type 2, and type 3 were distinguished based on cpcBA operon, which displayed obvious variations spatially between the inner and the outer bay. Freshwater discharge and water turbidity played important roles in regulating Synechococcus pigment types. Synechococcus assemblages were phylogenetically diverse (12 different lineages) based on rpoC1 gene and dominated by three core lineages S5.1-I, S5.1-IX, and S5.2-CB5 in different seasons. Our study demonstrated that Synechococcus abundance, pigment types, and genetic diversity displayed variations seasonally and spatially by different techniques, which were mainly driven by temperature, salinity, nutrients, and turbidity. The combination of more technical means provides more information for studying Synechococcus distribution. In this study, three pigment types of Synechococcus were discriminated simultaneously by dual lasers flow cytometer for the first time.

IntroductionIn recent years, fear of disease progression (FoP) has become one of the most common psychological problems in cancer patients. However, there are fewer studies on the FoP in patients with gastrointestinal tumors. We aimed to assess the level of FoP in patients with gastrointestinal tumors and analyze the factors related to FoP. We also aimed to examine the relationship among loneliness, hope and FoP in patients with gastrointestinal cancer.MethodsA cross-sectional survey was conducted on three Grade A hospitals in southwestern China from November 2021 to July 2022. The demographic and clinical characteristics questionnaire, Fear of Disease Progression Scale (FoP-Q-SF), Cancer Loneliness Scale (CLS), and Herth Hope Index (HHI) were included in this study. Data analysis included descriptive statistics, independent samples t-tests, one-way analysis of variance, and multiple linear regression analysis.ResultsIn total, 245 gastrointestinal cancer patients participated in this study. The average (standard deviation) FoP score in patients was 32.94 ± 10.64. In total, 245 gastrointestinal cancer patients participated in this study. The average (standard deviation) FoP score in patients was 32.94 ± 10.64. The average score of CLS was 17.65 ± 6.71, and that for the HHI was 31.27 ± 7.73. Pearson correlation analysis showed that FoP was negatively significant correlated with hope level (r = −0.522) and FoP was positively significant correlated with loneliness (r = 0.545). Linear regression analysis showed that educational level, age, living condition, hope, and loneliness were the significant predictors of FoP and explained 53.10% of the variability in FoP (F = 16.372).ConclusionFindings highlight the need to strengthen attention to FoP in gastrointestinal cancer patients. Our study showed that gastrointestinal cancer patients who have a high school education, are age 45 to 59, live alone, high level of loneliness, and low level of hope have higher FoP. Medical staff should enhance clinical screening of FoP and consider the formulation of relevant interventions for high-risk groups to reduce loneliness among patients, raise their hope level, and reduce their FoP.

The splicing design of the existing road and the new road in the expansion project is an important part of the design work. Based on the analysis of the characteristics and the load effect of pavement structure on splicing, this paper points out that tensile crack or shear failure may occur at the splicing under the repeated action of the traffic load on the new/old pavement. According to the current structure design code of asphalt pavement in China, it is proposed that the horizontal tensile stress at the bottom of the splicing layer and the vertical shear stress at other layers of the splicing line should be controlled by adjusting the position and size of the excavated steps in addition to the conventional design index, and put forward the corresponding technical requirements and design process. It can be used for reference in the design of asphalt pavement reconstruction and expansion projects.

Antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs) are revolutionizing cancer treatment, adding another important new class of systemic therapy. ADCs are a specially designed class of therapeutics that target cells expressing specific cancer antigens using directed antibody–drug delivery and release a cytotoxic chemotherapeutic payload. Over the past two decades, improvements in ADC design, development, and research, particularly in breast cancer, have led to several recent landmark publications. These advances have significantly changed various treatment paradigms and revamped traditional classifications of breast cancer with the introduction of a potential new subtype: “HER2-low”. This review will focus on several ADCs developed for breast cancer treatment, including trastuzumab emtansine (T-DM1), trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd), sacituzumab govitecan (SG) and other newer emerging agents. It will provide an overview of the role of ADCs in breast cancer and discuss the opportunities and challenges they present. Additionally, our review will discuss future research directions to improve the selection of targets, combination therapies, and aim to improve drug safety. Important first-line metastatic and adjuvant clinical trials are underway, which may expand the role of ADC therapy in breast cancer. We foresee ADCs driving a new era of breast cancer treatment, adding to the steady incremental survival advantage observed in recent years.

With the continuous growth and advancement of the Internet and information technology, continuous growth and advancement of the Internet and information technology.Nevertheless, these applications’ vulnerabilities pose a severe threat to information security and users’ privacy.Fuzzing was widely used as one of the main tools for automatic vulnerability detection due to its ease of vulnerability recurrence and low false positive errors.It generates test cases randomly and executes the application by optimization in terms of coverage or sample generation to detect deeper program paths.However, the mutation operation in fuzzing is blind and tends to make the generated test cases execute the same program path.Consequently, traditional fuzzing tests have problems such as low efficiency, high randomness of inputs generation and limited pertinence of the program structure.To address these problems, a directional fuzzing based on deep reinforcement learning was proposed, which used deep reinforcement learning networks with information obtained by staking program to guide the selection of the inputs.Besides, it enabled fast approximation and inspection of the program paths that may exist vulnerabilities.The experimental results showed that the proposed approach had better performance than the popular fuzzing tools such as AFL and AFLGO in terms of vulnerability detection and recurrence on the LAVA-M dataset and real applications like LibPNG and Binutils.Therefore, the approach can provide support for further vulnerability mining and security research.

Objective To investigate the neural network mechanism of fear induced by cortical functional electrical stimulation with stereotactic electrodes. Methods and Results A total of 20 patients with intractable epilepsy who were diagnosed and underwent stereotactic electrode implantation in Sanbo Brain Hospital of Capital Medical University from January 2021 to June 2022 were selected. Among them, 7 patients (35%) received 75 reconstructed electrode contacts [9.66% (75/776)] to induce fear emotional response. They were mainly distributed in temporal lobe [45.33% (34/75)], insula lobe [32% (24/75)] and cingulate gyrus [13.33% (10/75)]. According to the "seed and discovery" calculation method, the occurrence probability of evoked fear response electrode contacts in 9 general brain networks (auditory, left executive control, right executive control, sensorimotor, visuospatial, dorsal default mode, advanced vision, posterior salience and primary vision) was the highest in the dorsal default mode network, accounting for 84% (63/75). The whole brain functional connection values of the fear⁃inducing electrode contacts were retrieved from the neurosynth database, and the differences between the in⁃brain and out⁃brain functional connection values were calculated. It was found that the matching degree between the fear⁃inducing electrode contacts and the dorsal default mode network was the highest, followed by the posterior prominence network. Conclusions Based on stereo⁃electroencephalography (EEG), the fear response induced by cortical functional electrical stimulation was mainly related to the dorsal default mode network. The hippocampus, insula and cingulate gyrus are important network nodes of fear response. It is suggested that there is a shared neural circuit between the fear response induced by electrical stimulation and the fear experience acquired through conditioning.

Abstract Though diel variations are geographically widespread phenomena among phytoplankton and zooplankton, knowledge is limited regarding diel variations in planktonic ciliate (microzooplankton) community structure. In this study, we analyzed diel variations in community structure of planktonic ciliates in the northern South China Sea (nSCS) and tropical Western Pacific (tWP). Hydrological characteristics during day and night were slightly different over both the nSCS and tWP, while ciliate average abundance at night was clearly higher than in the day in the upper 200 m. In both the nSCS and tWP, abundance proportions of large size-fraction (> 30 μm) aloricate ciliates at night were higher than in the day. While for tintinnids, abundance proportion of large lorica oral diameter at night were lower than in the day. The relationship between environmental factors and ciliate abundance pointed out that depth and temperature were main factors influencing aloricate ciliate and tintinnid in both day and night. For some dominant tintinnid species, chlorophyll a was another important factor influencing their diel vertical distribution. Our results provide fundamental data for better understanding the mechanisms of planktonic ciliate community diel variation in the tropical Western Pacific Ocean.

IntroductionChronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) is mainly manifested as wheals and erythema on the skin accompanied by itching, which will cause emotional anxiety and seriously affect the quality of life in patients. Palmatine (PAL) is a main chemical component of Yajieshaba, which has been found to effectively alleviate the symptoms of food allergy. However, its role and mechanism in CSU remain unclear. The present study aimed to investigate the protective effect of PAL on CSU rats.MethodsWe replicated the CSU rat model by intraperitoneal injection of ovalbumin (OVA) in rats on days 0, 2, 4, and 14, with a double dose given on the last challenge. PAL, loratadine and saline were given by gavage from day 5 to day 14. We observed the skin pathologic changes, mast cell degranulation, immune factor levels, inflammatory response and autophagy-related protein expression in CSU rats.ResultsWe found PAL treatment to be effective in alleviating CSU-like skin lesions and reducing itching and mast cell degranulation in rats. Compared with the OVA group, the levels of immune and inflammatory factors were significantly reduced, neutrophil recruitment was alleviated, suggesting a reduced inflammatory response. The autophagy results showed that PAL further increased the expression of LC3, Beclin-1 and p-LKB1, p-AMPK, Atg5, Atg12 and Atg5-Atg12, while P62 and p-p70S6K1 expression decreased. They collectively suggested that autophagic flux was activated after PAL treatment. However, there was an increase in the expression of LC3I, probably due to the fact that PAL induced its accumulation in order to provide substrate for the generation of more LC3II.DiscussionOverall, PAL had a protective effect on CSU in normal rats, activated the expression of autophagy and improved the inflammatory response.

Human cancers induce a chaotic, dysfunctional vasculature that promotes tumor growth and blunts most current therapies; however, the mechanisms underlying the induction of a dysfunctional vasculature have been unclear. Here, we show that split end (SPEN), a transcription repressor, coordinates rRNA synthesis in endothelial cells (ECs) and is required for physiological and tumor angiogenesis. SPEN deficiency attenuated EC proliferation and blunted retinal angiogenesis, which was attributed to p53 activation. Furthermore, SPEN knockdown activated p53 by upregulating noncoding promoter RNA (pRNA), which represses rRNA transcription and triggers p53-mediated nucleolar stress. In human cancer biopsies, a low endothelial SPEN level correlated with extended overall survival. In mice, endothelial SPEN deficiency compromised rRNA expression and repressed tumor growth and metastasis by normalizing tumor vessels, and this was abrogated by p53 haploinsufficiency. rRNA gene transcription is driven by RNA polymerase I (RNPI). We found that CX-5461, an RNPI inhibitor, recapitulated the effect of Spen ablation on tumor vessel normalization and combining CX-5461 with cisplatin substantially improved the efficacy of treating tumors in mice. Together, these results demonstrate that SPEN is required for angiogenesis by repressing pRNA to enable rRNA gene transcription and ribosomal biogenesis and that RNPI represents a target for tumor vessel normalization therapy of cancer.

Summary: Oncogenic KRAS mutations are a key driver for initiation and progression in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, how post-translational modifications (PTMs) of KRAS, especially methylation, modify KRAS activity remain largely unclear. Here, we show that SET domain containing histone lysine methyltransferase 7 (SETD7) interacts with KRAS and methylates KRAS at lysines 182 and 184. SETD7-mediated methylation of KRAS leads to degradation of KRAS and attenuation of the RAS/MEK/ERK signaling cascade, endowing SETD7 with a potent tumor-suppressive role in NSCLC, both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistically, RABGEF1, a ubiquitin E3 ligase of KRAS, is recruited and promotes KRAS degradation in a K182/K184 methylation-dependent manner. Notably, SETD7 is inversely correlated with KRAS at the protein level in clinical NSCLC tissues. Low SETD7 or RABGEF1 expression is associated with poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma patients. Altogether, our results define a tumor-suppressive function of SETD7 that operates via modulating KRAS methylation and degradation.

Latent heat thermal storage (LHTS) system is vital to reduce environment pollution. In the shell-and-tube heat accumulator, the position of the inner heating tube plays a vital role in the thermal storage. To analyze the effect of the inner tube position on the phase transition, a two-dimensional numerical model is developed. The structure has the minimum full melting time of 3480 s when the inner tube is 12 mm (L = 12 mm) from the center. Compared with L = 0 mm, the full melting time at L = 12 mm can be reduced by 13.4%.

With the popularization of the concepts of whole grain health cognition and scientific diet, consumers are paying more and more attention to different forms of whole grain food. Whole grain drink is one of the important products made from whole grain, and the physical stability of whole grain drink is a major challenge in the process of research and development. Since whole grain drink is a thermodynamically unstable system of multiphase turbidite liquid with water as the continuous phase and starch, dietary fiber, protein as the dispersed phase, the separation speed of whole grain drink is fast, which seriously affected the acceptability of consumers. Based on literature review, the multiscale characterization methods of macroscopic, mesoscopic, microscopic and nano-scale for the stability of whole grain drink and characterization methods of the characteristic chemical components were summarized. This paper summarized the stability of whole grain drink characterized with multiscale methods, which could provide methodological guidance for the development of whole grain drink and facilitate the rapid development of whole grain foods.

To study the influence of the nonlinear connection of pile and soil on the dynamic response characteristics of the pile foundation, this article proposes to study the dynamic response of the bridge pile foundation to the slope by combining the centrifugal shaking table test and OPENSEES open source finite element program. This article introduces the pressure-dependent multiyield surface model based on confining pressure. Through the inverse calculation of the similarity ratio of the centrifuge model test, the OPENSEES two-dimensional nonlinear finite element model of the pile group in the slope section can be established. The centrifuge shaking table test is to input the preset seismic wave horizontally at the bottom of the model box. The form of seismic wave is El Centro wave verification of two-dimensional finite element model of the pile group in slope section under earthquake. The reliability of the model is verified by comparing the test and calculated values of dynamic response (residual horizontal displacement and final bending moment) of the pile body under five different peak acceleration seismic wave loading conditions. In the dynamic response experiment of slope pile foundation, in the embedded part below the bedrock surface, the residual horizontal displacement of each pile body is zero. Constrained by the cap beam and tie beam, the displacement of the free section of the pile group at these two positions is basically the same. Through comprehensive analysis, the displacement of P1 and P2 piles is basically the same. The calculated value of the final bending moment of P1 and P2 piles shows the same change trend as the test value, and the test value is slightly larger than the calculated value. The relative errors of the maximum final bending moment of P1 pile under each loading condition are 7.4, 7.8, 12.6, 3.9, and 9.6%, respectively, and the relative errors of P2 pile are 4.6, 3.6, 12.5, 13.6, and 11.5%, respectively. The analysis relative error is caused by the elastic element used in the calculation of the pile body, which is different from the mechanical behavior of the simulated pile body material in the test. Dynamic response of slope site according to the existing centrifuge test results can be seen that the deformation at the slope shoulder of slope site is the most obvious under the earthquake. The inclined interface of soft and hard rock and soil layer will aggravate the dynamic response of the overburden layer on the slope, weakening its ability of seismic energy consumption.

Magnetotactic bacteria (MTB) within the Nitrospirota phylum play important roles in biogeochemical cycles due to their outstanding ability to biomineralize large amounts of magnetite magnetosomes and intracellular sulfur globules. For several decades, Nitrospirota MTB were believed to only live in freshwater or low-salinity environments. While this group have recently been found in marine sediments, their physiological features and ecological roles have remained unclear. In this study, we combine electron microscopy with genomics to characterize a novel population of Nitrospirota MTB in a coral reef area of the South China Sea. Both phylogenetic and genomic analyses revealed it as representative of a novel genus, named as Candidatus Magnetocorallium paracelense XS-1. The cells of XS-1 are small and vibrioid-shaped, and have bundled chains of bullet-shaped magnetite magnetosomes, sulfur globules, and cytoplasmic vacuole-like structures. Genomic analysis revealed that XS-1 has the potential to respire sulfate and nitrate, and utilize the Wood–Ljungdahl pathway for carbon fixation. XS-1 has versatile metabolic traits that make it different from freshwater Nitrospirota MTB, including Pta-ackA pathway, anaerobic sulfite reduction, and thiosulfate disproportionation. XS-1 also encodes both the cbb3-type and the aa3-type cytochrome c oxidases, which may function as respiratory energy-transducing enzymes under high oxygen conditions and anaerobic or microaerophilic conditions, respectively. XS-1 has multiple copies of circadian related genes in response to variability in coral reef habitat. Our results implied that XS-1 has a remarkable plasticity to adapt the environment and can play a beneficial role in coral reef ecosystems.

Objective To investigate potential relationship between gene polymorphisms of ATP-binding cassette B1, C4 (ABCB1, ABCC4) and solute carrier organic anion transporter 1B1 gene(SLCO1B1) with methotrexate (MTX) blood drug concentration and high dose-MTX (HD-MTX)-related adverse events (AEs) in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Methods From January 2018 to December 2019, the blood samples were randomly collected from 275 hospitalized pediatric ALL patients in Beijing Children's Hospital of Capital Medical University. All patients were treated with HD-MTX. Chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA) was used to determine the MTX blood drug concentration at 45 h after infusion. Genotyping of ABCB1(rs1045642), ABCC4(rs7317112), and SLCO1B1(rs11045879 and rs10841753) were determined using MALDI-TOF MS based on MELPA technology. At the same time, chemotherapy-induced toxicity data including liver dysfunction, gastrointestinal disorder, mucositis, myelosuppression, and myocardial damage were recorded. The relationship of SNP polymorphism of these genes and MTX blood drug concentration with AEs were analyzed. Results All the genotypes analyzed were in Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium(P＞0.05). A statistically significant relationship between ABCC4 rs7317112 and SLCO1B1 rs11045879 genotype and 45 h MTX blood drug concentration was found(P＜0.05). The ABCC4 rs7317112 AA and AG genotypes and SLCO1B1 rs11045879 TT and TC genotypes may also be potential indicators for the excretion delay of MTX(P＜0.05). Conclusions ABCC4 rs7317112 and SLCO1B1 rs11045879 polymorphisms are potential genetic markers for individual MTX doses in the treatment of pediatric ALL patients.

In order to explore the quality changes of instant brown rice porridge rice during storage, gas chromatographic ion mobility spectrometry (GC-IMS) and dynamic principal component analysis (PCA) were used to study the changes of the composition and content of characteristic volatile organic compounds during the storage of instant brown rice porridge rice, the difference of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) between samples was evaluated by the flavor information fingerprint. The results showed that GC-IMS combined technology can quickly and qualitatively identify the monomers and dimers of volatile substances of instant brown rice porridge rice in different storage environments and storage times, and a total of 59 VOCs have been identified. The VOCs of fresh instant brown rice porridge rice mainly include aldehydes, ketones and esters, with relative contents of 24.44%, 20.40% and 43.59% respectively. When stored at room temperature, the relative contents of alcohols, aldehydes, pyrazines and furans in instant brown rice porridge increased, while the contents of ketones and esters decreased with the extension of storage time. Vacuum condition had little effect on flavor quality of instant brown rice porridge. In high humidity environment, with the extension of storage time, organic acids were gradually produced, aldehydes and alcohols increased greatly, ketones and esters decreased, and volatile substances changed significantly with the increase of storage temperature.

Marine plankton have different biogeographical distribution patterns. However, it is not clear how the entire plankton assemblage is composed of these species with distinct biogeographical patterns. Tintinnina (tintinnids) is single-celled planktonic protozoa commonly used as model organisms in planktonic studies. In this research, we investigated the organization of Tintinnina assemblages along the Atlantic Meridional Transect (AMT) spanning over 90 degrees of latitude during the 29th AMT cruise (2019). Tintinnina with high frequency of occurrence was classified into four biogeographic distribution patterns (equatorial, gyre, frontal, and deep Chl a maximum) according to their vertical and horizontal distribution. All species falling within each distribution pattern formed a sub-assemblage. Equatorial sub-assemblage dominated in upper waters of the equatorial zone and gyre centres. Equatorial and frontal sub-assemblages co-dominated in upper waters of the frontal zones. Deep Chlorophyll a maximum Layer (DCM) sub-assemblage dominated in the DCM waters. Some Tintinnina species with high abundance could be used as indicator species of sub-assemblages. The Tintinnina assemblages in the northern and southern hemispheres exhibited asymmetry in terms of species composition. The latitudinal gradient of Tintinnina species richness was bimodal, which was shaped by the superposition of the species number of the four sub-assemblages with latitude. The result of this study contributes to the understanding of Tintinnina assemblage in the equatorial zone and subtropical gyres of the Pacific and Indian Ocean. It is also valuable for predicting the influence of global warming on changes in Tintinnina distribution and species richness.

Elevated levels of arsenic may be present in groundwater, and long-term exposure to arsenic increases hepatic fibrosis. T helper 2 (Th2) cells are involved in the fibrotic cascade, and cell metabolism is a regulatory factor participating in CD4+ T cell differentiation and function. However, the mechanism for Th2 cell regulation of arsenite-induced hepatic fibrosis is not fully understood. In present study, for arsenite-fed mice, activated hepatic stellate cells may be involved in the infiltration of CD4+ T cells, accompanied by up-regulation of GATA3, a transcription factor, and IL-13, the major Th2 cytokine. Exposed to arsenite, Jurkat cells had increased aerobic glycolysis to promote the cell cycle and cell proliferation. Further, this process elevated levels of marker molecules, including those of the Th2 paradigm characterized by GATA3, IL-4, and IL-13. LX-2 cells were activated when treated with culture medium from Jurkat cells exposed to arsenite. miR-21 may be a therapeutic target for arsenite-induced hepatic fibrosis. In vitro, miR-21 knock-down caused inhibition of the PTEN/PI3K/AKT pathway induced by arsenite. It also reversed the elevated glycolysis and the accelerated cell cycle and cell proliferation. Indeed, this alteration led to diminished expression of GATA3, IL-4, and IL-13 in T cells differentiated under Th2 conditions, which inhibits activation of LX-2 cells. Consistent with the results in vitro, miR-21 knock-out in mice reversed hepatic fibrosis and attenuated the levels of GATA3 and IL-13 induced by arsenite. These findings indicate that miR-21 regulates the glycolysis of CD4+ T cells through the PTEN/PI3K/AKT pathway to accelerate the cell cycle, thereby facilitating CD4+ T cell polarization toward Th2 and releasing the fibrogenic factor IL-13, which participates in arsenite-associated hepatic fibrosis. Inhibition of Th2 polarization of CD4+T cells or miR-21 could be a therapeutic strategy to combat hepatic fibrosis caused by exposure to arsenic.

At this stage, the inspection of transmission lines is dominated by UAV inspection. Insulators, as essential equipment for transmission line equipment, are susceptible to various factors during UAV detection, and their detection results often lead to leakages and false detection. Combining deep learning detection algorithms with the UAV transmission line inspection system can effectively solve the current sensing problem. To improve the recognition accuracy of insulator detection, the MS-COCO pre-training strategy that combines the FPN module with a cascading R-CNN algorithm based on the ResNeXt-101 network is proposed. The purpose of this paper is to systematically and comprehensively analyze mainstream isolator detection algorithms at the current stage and to verify the effectiveness of the improved Cascade R-CNN X101 model by combining the mAP (mean Average Precision) value and other related evaluation indices. Compared with Faster R-CNN, Retina Net, and other detection algorithms, the model is highly accurate and can effectively deal with the false detection, leakage, and non-recognition of the environment in online special detection. The research in this paper provides a new idea for intelligent fault detection of transmission line insulators and has some reference value for engineering applications.

This paper aims to comprehensively analyze quality features of commercial whole grain dried noodles and provide data reference for the formulation standards of whole grain dried noodles. 41 commercial whole grain dried noodles collected in 2019 and 2020 are analyzed and evaluated in this research.The moisture content is from 9.77% to 13.06%, while the acidity value between 0.00 to 4.46 mL per10 g,with a naturally broken ratio from 0.04% to 4.05%. The cooked broken ratio is from 0.00% to 3.33%. The cooked broken ratio of 90% whole grain noodle samples is 0%, with the cooking loss ratio between 2.46%and 11.36%. Taking the limits of the above indexes in LS/T 3212—2014 as the reference, except the acidity of 2 samples and the cooking loss rate of 4 samples which are beyond the limit values, all indexes of other samples meet the requirements. The total dietary fiber content is between 2.22 to 12.37 g per 100 g and the alkylresorcinols content is between 10.08 μg/g and 218.52 μg/g. The integral level of moisture content,acidity and alkylresorcinols content of samples in 2020 is higher than that in 2019, and the cooking loss rate is the lower, while there is no significant difference between two years’ samples in other indexes. The results show that the quality of commercial whole grain dried noodles varies greatly.

To clarify the corrosion behavior of Ni-based hard facing alloy Colmonoy 56 and the preferential dissolution detail at the micrometer scale, the microstructure and the elemental distribution of a rod were analyzed, followed with the polarization measurement in aqueous solution with different pH and NaCl concentrations. This rod has Fe-, Si-, and Cr-solutioned [Ni] matrix with heterogeneously dispersed secondary phases of Cr23C6, CrB, Cr2B, and Cr5B3. The polarization curve largely changed with different pH: active in acid solution and passive in neutral and alkaline solution. The strongest passivation appeared at pH=11. Cl− promoted the corrosion attack to the [Ni] matrix. In the case of pH=11, Cl− caused the fast climb of anodic current from passivation at a less noble potential. Preferential dissolution of the [Ni] matrix occurred in most solutions, except in the case of pH=14 without NaCl, in which the secondary phases preferably dissolved.

Introduction Inflammation plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis, the leading cause of ischaemic heart disease (IHD). Studies in preclinical models have demonstrated that an increase in regulatory T cells (Tregs), which have a potent immune modulatory action, led to a regression of atherosclerosis. The Low-dose InterLeukin 2 (IL-2) in patients with stable ischaemic heart disease and Acute Coronary Syndromes (LILACS) study, established the safety of low-dose IL-2 and its biological efficacy in IHD. The IVORY trial is designed to assess the effects of low-dose IL-2 on vascular inflammation in patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS).Methods and analysis In this study, we hypothesise that low-dose IL-2 will reduce vascular inflammation in patients presenting with ACS. This is a double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled, phase II clinical trial. Patients will be recruited across two centres, a district general hospital and a tertiary cardiac centre in Cambridge, UK. Sixty patients with ACS (unstable angina, non-ST elevation myocardial infarction or ST elevation myocardial infarction) with high-sensitivity C reactive protein (hsCRP) levels >2 mg/L will be randomised to receive either 1.5×106 IU of low-dose IL-2 or placebo (1:1). Dosing will commence within 14 days of admission. Dosing will comprise of an induction and a maintenance phase. 2-Deoxy-2-[fluorine-18] fluoro-D-glucose (18F-FDG) positron emission tomography/CT (PET/CT) scans will be performed before and after dosing. The primary endpoint is the change in mean maximum target to background ratios (TBRmax) in the index vessel between baseline and follow-up scans. Changes in circulating T-cell subsets will be measured as secondary endpoints of the study. The safety and tolerability of extended dosing with low-dose IL-2 in patients with ACS will be evaluated throughout the study.Ethics and dissemination The Health Research Authority and Health and Care Research Wales, UK (19/YH/0171), approved the study. Written informed consent is required to participate in the trial. The results will be reported through peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations.Trial registration number NCT04241601.

In order to clarify the influence of rainfall on the seepage field and stability of embankment slope,the mechanism of embankment slope water failure and its main influencing factors were studied.Under the specific control conditions of soil quality,compaction degree and erosion infiltration time,this study explored the erosion damage of subgrade slope under rainfall through slope model test,and then combined with GeoStudio program to find out the seepage field and stability change law of subgrade slope during rainfall.The results show that in the process of rainfall,the slope surface is scoured by rain water and the external structure is damaged,while the internal stability of the slope is reduced by the seepage action of rain water.The two effects from the outside to the inside simultaneously lead to the overall damage of the slope.With the increase of compaction degree of two kinds of soil slopes from 85% to 95%,the erosion amount of sandy soil slopes decreased by 4618%,and the slope safety factor increased by 1374%,while the erosion amount of cohesive soil slopes decreased by 3370%,and the safety factor increased by 1021%.With the increase of rainfall time,the scouring depth of cohesive soil slope tends to be stable in the later stage,while the scouring depth of sandy soil slope tends to increase; Under the same control conditions,the change of safety factor of cohesive soil slope before and after rainfall is smaller than that of sandy soil slope.Under the same control conditions,the water damage resistance and overall stability of the clay soil slope are stronger than that of the sandy soil slope.The research results are helpful for more comprehensive understanding of the water-damage mechanism of the embankment slope and the influence laws of the main factors in the process of rainfall,and improve the stability of the road support.

Forty-two buckwheat noodle products were collected from the market and their quality indexes were analyzed to provide data support for the establishment of buckwheat noodle standard.The results showed that among the 42 samples,the moisture content was 9.07% ～ 13.53%,the cooking loss rate of 73.8% samples was ≤10.0%,the weight gain rate of cooking was 93.2% ～ 241.7%,the cooked broken ratio was 0% ～ 3.3%,all ≤5.0%,the naturally broken ratio was 0% ～ 7.1%,the naturally broken ratio of 95%samples was ≤5.0%.The total flavonoids content in Tartary buckwheat noodles was 0.15% ～ 1.94%,the total flavonoids content in other buckwheat noodles was 0.10% ～ 0.55%.The L* value,a* value and b*value of buckwheat noodles were 32.35～86.12,0.85 ～ 7.25 and 11.95 ～ 38.15 respectively.The acidity value of 100% buckwheat noodles were less than 4.0 mL/10g,and the storage quality was good.

BACKGROUND There are large amounts of copper-lead-zinc polymetallic sulfide ore resources in Yunnan Province, China, but the efficient separation of these resources remains a major problem. OBJECTIVES To improve the separation efficiency of valuable minerals in mixed concentrates. METHODS In this study, the major elemental content, phase composition, mineral composition, particle size characteristics, and monomer liberation degree of a mixed concentrate were analyzed using a variety of modern detection methods such as chemical analysis, X-ray diffraction, and mineral liberation analysis (MLA). RESULTS The results showed that the mixed concentrate had fine particles, and some minerals occurred as intergrowths or inclusions. The monomer liberation degree of the target minerals chalcopyrite, galena, and sphalerite was medium to low, ranging from 69.28% to 70.56%. It was preliminarily predicted that the theoretical separation efficiencies of copper, lead, and zinc in the mixed concentrate were 71.63%, 62.97% and 72.72%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS Improving the grinding fineness of mixed concentrates to promote the full liberation of metal minerals is a key way to improve the separation efficiency of copper, lead, and zinc minerals.

Planktonic ciliates are an important component of microzooplankton, but there is limited understanding of their responses to changing environmental conditions in the Pacific Arctic Region. We investigated the variations of ciliate community structure and their relationships with environmental features in the Pacific Arctic Region in the summer of 2016 and 2019. The Pacific water was warmer and more saline in 2019 than in 2016. The abundance and biomass of total ciliate and aloricate ciliate were significantly higher in 2019 than those in 2016, while those of tintinnid were significantly lower. The dominant aloricate ciliate changed from large size-fraction (> 30 μm) in 2016 to small size-fraction (10–20 μm) in 2019. More tintinnid species belonging to cosmopolitan genera were found in 2019 than in 2016, and the distribution of tintinnid species (Codonellopsis frigida, Ptychocylis obtusa, and Salpingella sp.1) in 2019 expanded by 5.9, 5.2, and 8.8 degrees further north of where they occurred in 2016. The environmental variables that best-matched tintinnid distributions were temperature and salinity, while the best match for aloricate ciliate distributions was temperature. Therefore, the temperature might play a key role in ciliate distribution. These results provide basic data on the response of the planktonic ciliate community to hydrographic variations and implicate the potential response of microzooplankton to Pacification as rapid warming progresses in the Pacific Arctic Region.
