Abstract

In this paper, a kind of coupled gap-ring defected ground structure (CGRDGS) is proposed firstly. The electric and magnetic coupling characteristics are studied. The S-parameters show that this type DGS has high selectivity, wide and deep stopband characteristics. At the same time, the effects of varying the parameters of CGRDGS have been studied. In order to explore the usefulness of the CGRDGS, a kind of seven-pole low-pass filter (LPF) is designed. This filter has compact size, sharp attenuation skirt and ultra-wide stopband.

Abstract

The article focuses on the use of quarter substrate integrated waveguide resonator (QSIWR) and a fractal shaped defected structure (FDS) in designing substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) bandpass filters. It states that QSIWR and FDS are used because of various benefits including simple structure, extra transmission zero and compact size. It further presents various figures explaining the working of QSIWR.
