Anderson localization on random regular graphs (RRG) serves as a toy-model of many-body localization (MBL). We explore the transition for ergodicity to localization on RRG with large connectivity $m$. In the analytical part, we focus on the inverse participation ratio of eigenstates and identify several regimes on the ergodic side of the transition -- self-consistent golden rule, golden rule, precritical, and critical -- that the system consecutively goes through when the disorder increases towards the point $W_c$ of the localization transition. We also perform exact-diagonalization numerics as well as a population-dynamics analysis that combines analytical and numerical techniques. Results of all the approaches are in excellent mutual agreement. We further explore the evolution from ergodicity to localization in two models of Fock-space MBL: fermionic and spin quantum dots. Large-connectivity RRG models serve as an approximation for this class of many-body problems; one of our central goals is to better understand the status of this approximation. Our numerical simulations support the conjecture that, in the limit of a large system, there is a sharp ergodicity-to-localization transition in the quantum-dot models. Furthermore, our results are consistent the RRG-like scaling of the critical disorder, $W_c \sim m \ln m$. While in the golden-rule range the behavior of quantum-dot models is in agreement with analytical predictions based on RRG model, substantial deviations occur in the pre-critical regime. Our results indicate that the pre-critical and critical behavior (as well as the numerical coefficient in the formula for $W_c$) in the quantum-dot models may be different from what one would expect from the RRG-like approximation., Comment: 21 pages, 13 figures

Using the framework of supersymmetric non-linear $\sigma$-model we develop a general non-perturbative characterisation of universal features of the density $\rho(\Gamma)$ of the imaginary parts (``width'') for $S$-matrix poles (``resonances'') describing waves incident and reflected from a disordered medium via $M$-channel waveguide/lead. Explicit expressions for $\rho(\Gamma)$ are derived for several instances of systems with broken time-reversal invariance, in particular for quasi-1D and 3D media. In the case of perfectly coupled lead with a few channels ($M\sim 1$) the most salient features are tails $\rho(\Gamma)\sim \Gamma^{-1}$ for narrow resonances reflecting exponential localization and $\rho(\Gamma)\sim \Gamma^{-2}$ for broad resonances reflecting states located in the vicinity of the attached wire. For multimode quasi 1D wires with $M\gg 1$, an intermediate asymptotics $\rho(\Gamma)\sim \Gamma^{-3/2}$ is shown to emerge reflecting diffusive nature of decay into wide enough contacts., Comment: The previous letter-style version is replaced by a full-length article

We study deterministic power-law quantum hopping model with an amplitude $J(r) \propto - r^{-\beta}$ and local Gaussian disorder in low dimensions $d=1,2$ under the condition $d < \beta < 3d/2$. We demonstrate unusual combination of exponentially decreasing density of the "tail states" and localization-delocalization transition (as function of disorder strength $w$) pertinent to a small (vanishing in thermodynamic limit) fraction of eigenstates. At sub-critical disorder $w < w_c$ delocalized eigenstates with energies near the bare band edge co-exist with a strongly localized eigenstates in the same energy window. At higher disorder $w > w_c$ all eigenstates are localized. In a broad range of parameters density of states $\nu(E)$ decays into the tail region $E <0$ as simple exponential, $ \nu(E) = \nu_0 e^{E/E_0} $, while characteristic energy $E_0$ varies smoothly across edge localization transition. We develop simple analytic theory which describes $E_0$ dependence on power-law exponent $\beta$, dimensionality $d$ and disorder strength $W$, and compare its predictions with exact diagonalization results. At low energies within the bare "conduction band", all eigenstates are localized due to strong quantum interference at $d=1,2$; however localization length grows fast with energy decrease, contrary to the case of usual Schrodinger equation with local disorder.

We explore dynamics of disordered and quasi-periodic interacting lattice models using a self-consistent time-dependent Hartree-Fock (TDHF) approximation, accessing both large systems (up to $L = 400$ sites) and very long times (up to $t = 10^5$). We find that, in the $t \to \infty$ limit, the many-body localization (MBL) is always destroyed within the TDHF approximation. At the same time, this approximation provides important information on the long-time character of dynamics in the ergodic side of the MBL transition. Specifically, for one-dimensional (1D) disordered chains, we find slow power-law transport up to the longest times, supporting the rare-region (Griffiths) picture. The information on this subdiffusive dynamics is obtained by the analysis of three different observables - temporal decay $\sim t^{-\beta}$ of real-space and energy-space imbalances as well as domain wall melting - which all yield consistent results. For two-dimensional (2D) systems, the decay is faster than a power law, in consistency with theoretical predictions that $\beta$ grows as $\log t$ for the decay governed by rare regions. At longest times and moderately strong disorder, $\beta$ approaches the limiting value $\beta=1$ corresponding to 2D diffusion. In quasi-periodic (Aubry-Andr\'e) 1D systems, where rare regions are absent, we find considerably faster decay that reaches the ballistic value $\beta=1$, which provides further support to the Griffiths picture of the slow transport in random systems., Comment: 35 pages including appendix, 14 figures. We explore correlations of eigenstates around the many-body localization (MBL) transition in their dependence on the energy difference (frequency) $\omega$ and disorder $W$. In addition to the genuine many-body problem, XXZ spin chain in random field, we consider localization on random regular graphs (RRG) that serves as a toy model of the MBL transition. Both models show a very similar behavior. On the localized side of the transition, the eigenstate correlation function $\beta(\omega)$ shows a power-law enhancement of correlations with lowering $\omega$; the corresponding exponent depends on $W$. The correlation between adjacent-in-energy eigenstates exhibits a maximum at the transition point $W_c$, visualizing the drift of $W_c$ with increasing system size towards its thermodynamic-limit value. The correlation function $\beta(\omega)$ is related, via Fourier transformation, to the Hilbert-space return probability. We discuss measurement of such (and related) eigenstate correlation functions on state-of-the-art quantum computers and simulators.

We review recent progress in the theory of electromagnetic response of dirty superconductors subject to microwave radiation. The theory originally developed by Eliashberg in 1970 and soon after that elaborated in a number of publications addressed the effect of superconductivity enhancement in the vicinity of the transition temperature. This effect originates from nonequilibrium redistribution of quasiparticles and requires a minimal microwave frequency depending on the inelastic relaxation rate and temperature. In a recent series of papers we generalized the Eliashberg theory to arbitrary temperatures $T$, microwave frequencies $\omega$, dc supercurrent, and inelastic relaxation rates, assuming that the microwave power is weak enough and can be treated perturbatively. In the phase diagram ($\omega,T$) the region of superconductivity enhancement occupies a finite area located near $T_c$. At sufficiently high frequencies and low temperatures, the effect of direct depairing prevails over quasiparticle redistribution, always leading to superconductivity suppression., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures. Neural quantum states (NQS) attract a lot of attention due to their potential to serve as a very expressive variational ansatz for quantum many-body systems. Here we study the main factors governing the applicability of NQS to frustrated magnets by training neural networks to approximate ground states of several moderately-sized Hamiltonians using the corresponding wavefunction structure on a small subset of the Hilbert space basis as training dataset. We notice that generalization quality, i.e. the ability to learn from a limited number of samples and correctly approximate the target state on the rest of the space, drops abruptly when frustration is increased. We also show that learning the sign structure is considerably more difficult than learning amplitudes. We theoretically study the quench dynamics for an isolated Heisenberg spin chain with a random on-site magnetic field, which is one of the paradigmatic models of a many-body localization transition. We use the time-dependent variational principle as applied to matrix product states, which allows us to controllably study chains of a length up to $L=100$ spins, i.e., much larger than $L \simeq 20$ that can be treated via exact diagonalization. For the analysis of the data, three complementary approaches are used: (i) determination of the exponent $\beta$ which characterizes the power-law decay of the antiferromagnetic imbalance with time; (ii) similar determination of the exponent $\beta_\Lambda$ which characterizes the decay of a Schmidt gap in the entanglement spectrum, (iii) machine learning with the use, as an input, of the time dependence of the spin densities in the whole chain. We find that the consideration of the larger system sizes substantially increases the estimate for the critical disorder $W_c$ that separates the ergodic and many-body localized regimes, compared to the values of $W_c$ in the literature. On the ergodic side of the transition, there is a broad interval of the strength of disorder with slow subdiffusive transport. In this regime, the exponents $\beta$ and $\beta_\Lambda$ increase, with increasing $L$, for relatively small $L$ but saturate for $L \simeq 50$, indicating that these slow power laws survive in the thermodynamic limit. We identify graphene layer on a disordered substrate as a possible system where Anderson localization of phonons can be observed. Generally, observation of localization for scattering waves is not simple, because the Rayleigh scattering is inversely proportional to a high power of wavelength. The situation is radically different for the out of plane vibrations, so-called flexural phonons, scattered by pinning centers induced by a substrate. In this case, the scattering time for vanishing wave vector tends to a finite limit. One may, therefore, expect that physics of the flexural phonons exhibits features characteristic for electron localization in two dimensions, albeit without complications caused by the electron-electron interactions. We confirm this idea by calculating statistical properties of the Anderson localization of flexural phonons for a model of elastic sheet in the presence of the pinning centers. Finally, we discuss possible manifestations of the flexural phonons, including the localized ones, in the electronic thermal conductance.

We study Landau levels (LLs) of Weyl semimetal (WSM) with two adjacent Weyl nodes. We consider different orientations $\eta=\angle(\mathbf{B},\mathbf{k}_0)$ of magnetic field $\mathbf{B}$ with respect to $\mathbf{k}_0$, the vector of Weyl nodes splitting. Magnetic field facilitates the tunneling between the nodes giving rise to a gap in the transverse energy of the zeroth LL. We show how the spectrum is rearranged at different $\eta$ and how this manifests itself in the change of behavior of differential magnetoconductance $dG(B)/dB$ of a ballistic $p$-$n$ junction. Unlike the single-cone model where Klein tunneling reveals itself in positive $dG(B)/dB$, in the two-cone case $G(B)$ is non-monotonic with maximum at $B_c \propto \Phi_0k_0^2/\ln(k_0l_E)$ for large $k_0l_E$, where $l_E=\sqrt{\hbar v/|e|E}$ with $E$ for built in electric field and $\Phi_0$ for magnetic flux quantum., Comment: 7 pages, 5 figures, 1 table

We investigate decoherence of an electron in graphene caused by electron-flexural phonon interaction. We find out that flexural phonons can produce dephasing rate comparable to the electron-electron one. The problem appears to be quite special because there is a large interval of temperature where the dephasing induced by phonons can not be obtain using the golden rule. We evaluate this rate for a wide range of density ($n$) and temperature ($T$) and determine several asymptotic regions with temperature dependence crossing over from $\tau_{\phi }^{-1}\sim T^{2}$ to $\tau_{\phi}^{-1}\sim T$ when temperature increases. We also find $\tau_{\phi}^{-1}$ to be a non-monotonous function of $n$. These distinctive features of the new contribution can provide an effective way to identify flexural phonons in graphene through the electronic transport by measuring the weak localization corrections in magnetoresistance., Comment: 13 pages, 8 figures

We present results of measurements obtained from a mesoscopic ring of a highly disordered superconductor. Superimposed on a smooth magnetoresistance background we find periodic oscillations with a period that is independent of the strength of the magnetic field. The period of the oscillations is consistent with charge transport by Cooper pairs. The oscillations persist unabated for more than 90 periods, through the transition to the insulating phase, up to our highest field of 12 T., Comment: 6 pages, 6 figures

We study the effect of superconducting fluctuations on the longitudinal and the transverse (Hall) conductivity in homogeneously disordered films. Our calculation is based on the Usadel equation in the real-time formulation. We adjust this approach to derive analytic expressions for the fluctuation corrections in the entire metallic part of the temperature-magnetic field phase diagram, including the effects of both classical and quantum fluctuations. This method allows us to obtain fluctuation corrections in a compact and effective way, establishing a direct connection between phenomenological and microscopic calculations.

Near the superconducting phase transition, fluctuations significantly modify the electronic transport properties. Here we study the fluctuation corrections to the Hall conductivity in disordered films, extending previous derivations to a broader range of temperatures and magnetic fields, including the vicinity of the magnetic field induced quantum critical point. In the process, we found a new contribution to the Hall conductivity that was not considered before. We have studied the Hall effect in superconducting tantalum nitride films. We find a large contribution to the Hall conductivity near the superconducting transition, which we can track to temperatures well above $T_c$ and magnetic fields well above the upper critical field, $\text{\text{H}}_{c2}(0)$. This contribution arises from Aslamazov-Larkin superconducting fluctuations, and we find quantitative agreement between our data and recent theoretical analysis based on time dependent Ginzburg-Landau theory.
