Abstract Several mechanisms were postulated to reduce drilling problems, improve hole cleaning characteristics, and keep the bit in good condition for the second usage. This study was conducted on Majnoon Field in southeastern Iraq to optimize the bit and drilling parameters. The results indicated that the 16” SFD75D bit proved the preferred bit for both vertical and deviated wells due to its directional capabilities. MMD and MME were the best bit types for 12.25” and 8.5” sections and proved more successful than the FX and EQ types. The maximum weight on bit (WOB), Round per Minute (RPM), mud weight, and flow rate must be 25.45–73 klbs, 50-179.22, 10.5–10.8 ppg, and 662–940 gpm respectively, according to the drilling section. The wells with the J-shape showed a better penetration rate (increased 50–100%) and steadier torque than those with the S-shape for all drilling sections, with some deviations in the Shiranish, Sadi, and Tanuma Formations. The wells in the south have a sliding percentage of drilling hours more than in the north of the Field, and the inclination of the wells in the south was generally more stable and had lower hydraulics requirements than in the north of the Field.

In the paper, the physical and chemical characteristics of sulfur cake from Stepnogorsk Sulfuric Acid Plant (SSAP LLP) were studied. During the production of sulfuric acid, 130–200 tons of sulfur-containing residues are accumulated per year, the storage of which negatively affects the environment. The peaks of IR spectrum analyses are linked to the stretching vibrations of S=O, S-S bonds, and O-S-O groups. The chemical composition of the filtration waste of molten sulfur from the settling tanks of the Stepnogorsk sulfuric acid plant is represented by the following elements: S (about 60 wt.%), O, Na, Mg, Al, Si, Cl, Ca, Fe, Cu, Pb, and Zn. The content of organic compounds in sulfur cake is low, and mineral components – gypsum, calcium sulfate, and silicates are contained in insignificant quantities, which makes it possible to use it for the production of composite materials for construction purposes. Using compositions will improve the properties of materials and provide an opportunity to sell additional volumes of sulfur on the domestic market, which will reduce the consequences of excess production and the environmental burden from long-term storage of sulfur-containing waste.

Abstract For successful animal husbandry, farmers need to monitor the health status of animals on a daily basis, as well as ensure the safety and protection of animals. In this regard, the problem of choosing the optimal system for monitoring the condition of farm animals in the modern market is urgent. The practical value of the scientific article is to analyze the problems of stakeholders and, based on the needs, conduct a comparative analysis of various modern systems for monitoring the condition of small cattle using the weighted sum method. The object of the study was the process of monitoring the condition of small cattle using RFID tags, as well as the ability to monitor their health depending on the chosen approach. The subject of the study was a livestock enterprise that raises small cattle. It was found that the health of small cattle directly affects the financial stability of the farm. In the presented study, the authors analyze the problems of stakeholders and, based on the needs of stakeholders, conduct a comparative analysis of various modern systems for monitoring the condition of small cattle using the weighted sum method. The results obtained will help farmers make informed decisions in the future when choosing the most appropriate monitoring option for more effective and high-quality monitoring of the condition of small cattle, thereby reducing the risk of diseases and increasing profits for companies.

The Brassicaceae family, commonly referred to as cruciferous plants, is globally cultivated and consumed, with the Brassica genus being particularly renowned for its functional components. These vegetables are rich sources of nutrients and health-promoting phytochemicals, garnering increased attention in recent years. This study presents a comprehensive microscopic, chromatographic, and spectroscopic characterization of Brassica napus L. seeds from Kazakhstan aimed at elucidating their morphological features and chemical composition. Microscopic analysis revealed distinct localization of flavonoids, total lipids, and alkaloids. High-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC) analysis of seed extracts demonstrated a complex chemical profile with significant quantities of non-polar compounds in the hexane extracts. Additionally, methanolic extracts revealed the presence of diverse chemical compounds, including alkaloids, flavonoids, and glucosinolates. The chemical composition exhibited varietal differences across different Brassica species, with B. napus L. seeds showing higher concentrations of bioactive compounds. Furthermore, liquid chromatography–quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (LC-QToF-MS) analysis provided insights into the chemical composition, with sinapine isomers, feruloyl, and sinapoyl choline derivatives as major compounds in the seeds. This study contributes to a better understanding of the chemical diversity and quality control methods’ approximations of B. napus L. seeds, highlighting their importance in functional food and nutraceutical applications.

This article is devoted to the solvability of degenerate nonlinear equations of pseudoparabolic type. Such problems appear naturally in physical and biological models. The article aims to study the solvability in the classes of regular solutions of (all derivatives generalized in the sense of S.L. Sobolev included in the equation) initial-boundary value problems for differential equations. For the problems under consideration, we have found conditions on parameters ensuring the existence of solutions and we have proved existence and uniqueness theorems. The main method for proving the solvability of boundary value problems is the regularization method.

In the paper the sorption capacity of shungite rocks of the Koksu field (Kazakhstan) in relation to the oil from the Karazhanbas and Tengiz fields (Kazakhstan) were studied. Oil spills occurring during production, gathering, transportation, storage and refining, and repair work on wells are an urgent environmental problem. There are effective methods of soil purification, including particular interests addressed to sorption process. The aim of this research is to study oil sorption by shungite rocks of the Koksu deposit after mechanochemical activation. The mechanochemical activation of shungite rock samples was carried out in a planetary ball mill at different speeds of rotation and ratios of ball mass to the sample. The developed sorbents based on shungite rocks of the Koksu deposit were tested for cleaning samples of oil-contaminated soils and their sorption capacities under dynamic and static conditions were determined. For the sorption of oil, the sorbent based on shungite of shale grade (TS) after mechanochemical activation is recommended, which sorption capacity under dynamic conditions is 2.57-2.85 g/g. Sorption of oil from 10 % of oil contaminated soil samples with the sorbents based on shungite after mechanochemical activation showed sorption capacity of 0.44-0.45 g/g in 60 days under static conditions. The practical significance of the research lies in the prospects of using shungite rocks to clean up oil spills.

Since ancient times, many scientists and doctors have used various herbs to treat diseases. Conventional drugs often have side effects, and pathogens are becoming resistant to these types of drugs. In such circumstances, the study of traditional medicinal plants is an effective and logical strategy for finding new herbal medicines. One such herb is Plantago major, a perennial plant in the Plantaginaceae family that is found throughout the world. The Plantago major plant has been used as a medicine for the treatment of various diseases. Studies have shown that plant extracts of Plantago major exhibit antimicrobial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory effects, and have wound-healing properties. This review collects and presents the results of various studies of Plantago major plant extracts with antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and wound-healing properties, which demonstrate a wide range of therapeutic possibilities of Plantago major plant extracts and have a huge potential for use as a medicinal raw material.

Kazakhstan is embarking on a fresh approach to managing waste, aiming to recycle and repurpose solid household waste while integrating innovative, eco-friendly technologies for its treatment and disposal. The main goal is to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills and instead convert it into more stable forms, lessening its harmful impact on the environment. This effort requires a comprehensive strategy, especially as existing landfills still need to be managed and rehabilitated when they reach capacity. It is essential to use municipal solid waste as a resource for producing various goods, which not only helps in landfill management but also aligns with principles of sustainability. This approach aligns with circular economic principles and helps to reduce the technological impact of landfills on the surrounding environment. The main types of waste in the Aktas landfill were identified as a result of this research: it is glass, of which only 3% is recycled. In our results, the setup allowed for the extraction of valuable components from the fine fraction, which can then be recycled. This paper investigates the potential use of coked sands, a byproduct of the thermal processing (pyrolysis) of oil sands, in asphalt concrete mixtures. After pyrolysis extracts the oil from the oil sand, the remaining mineral part becomes coked and changes color to black as solid waste, resulting in a coating of biochar. The coked sand's X-ray phase analysis (XRD) shows peaks at 4.2564, 3.6749, 3.3768, 3.2380, 3.1903, 2.4581, 2.2800, and 2.2365. Quartz, aluminosilicates, metal oxides, and possibly even carbonates make up the sand's mineral makeup, as indicated by these peaks. One way to use them is in road construction. In this study, we substituted sand screenings with coked sand in amounts of 5%, 7%, and 10% to examine its impact on the composition of asphalt concrete. This study used 5% paving bitumen (BND 70/100) as a binder for asphalt mineral materials of varying sizes. It concludes that using coked sand to produce asphalt concrete can save 5–10% of sand screenings. The test results showed that adding 5% and 7% of coked sand increases the compressive strength at 50 °C by 8% and 31%, respectively. Adding 10% of coked sand does not increase the strength and actually makes it weaker. The results of the asphalt concrete samples meet type B grade 1 standards of ST RK 1225-2019. The actual problem of the oil refining industry is to improve the process of oxidation of heavy oil residues and the properties of oil bitumen. One way to solve the problem is to add modifiers. The addition of modifiers leads to an intensification of the oxidation process and an increase in the characteristics of the bituminous binders. The work aims to study the effect of adding rubber crumb on the process of vacuum residue oxidation and the properties of the obtained rubber-bitumen binders (RBB). The influence of the size of crumb rubber and its content, the mixing stage and oxidation modes on the properties of rubber-bitumen binders are determined. Vacuum residue from the Omsk oil refinery was used as a raw material, which was modified with crumb rubber with a dispersion of 0.6‒1.0 mm and less than 0.6 mm. The novelty of the research is the addition of crumb rubber to the vacuum residue and the oxidation process to obtain bitumen. The product of vacuum residue oxidation for 2 h at 260 °С with preliminary mixing of 2 wt.% crumb rubber with particle sizes less than 0.6 mm at 180 °С and additional mixing of 8 wt.% crumb rubber after oxidation corresponds to the brand of rubber-bitumen binder RBB 60/90. The rubber-bitumen binder is characterized by high elasticity and low Fraas point. Рrepared аsphalt concrete mixture based on RBB corresponded to type B according to physical and mechanical parameters. The complex shear modulus of the samples decreases with the temperature increase. Short-term aging resulted in increased shear modulus for all samples.

Every year, the problem of environmental pollution from metallurgical waste is gaining momentum. In particular, these are metallurgical wastes containing residual metals. However, with the help of innovative methods of processing lead-containing slags, they can be turned into valuable resources with minimal impact on the environment. This article discusses the importance of recycling lead-containing slag and describes various methods of recycling. The scientific novelty of the article is to analyze the influence of the content of toxic metals, such as lead, chromium, zinc, and copper, in the products obtained after roasting around the waste storage. The results of the optimization of experimental data allowed to specify the composition of the mixture temperature of the process of ignition of residual and corrosion-protective metals chromium and nickel, with the indicators of dependencies in the three-dimensional model. The results of the mathematical planning of the processing of waste slag and galvanic sludge showed that the recovery of lead reached 93-95%, chromium-94-96% nickel-93%, and copper-90%. The obtained product is identified as a composite material by its elemental composition and microstructure. In the general structure of the surface, firing products are characterized by the presence of the aluminosilicate minerals melilite, merwinite, and ockermanite, as well as calcium monosilicates, in the form of irregular forms of light gray lamellar crystals. In the production of sulfuric acid, sulfur cake—a waste product of the sulfur purification process—is formed in large quantities, which requires its disposal and use. For its use in composite materials, modification is necessary to convert sulfur into a polymer form. The aim of the study was to develop a method for modifying sulfur cake—a waste product of sulfuric acid production—for its disposal. Available reagents—styrene, glycerol, and oleic acid—were tested as modifiers in the work. The sample compositions consisted of 100% sulfur cake (no. 1) and its mixtures: 97% sulfur cake + 3% styrene (no. 2), 97% sulfur cake + 3% glycerol (no. 3), 97% sulfur cake + 3% oleic acid (no. 4), 95% sulfur cake + 3% styrene, 1% glycerol, and 1% oleic acid (no. 5). Modification of sulfur cake was carried out at a temperature of 140 °C for 30 min. The composition, crystal structure, and thermal properties of the samples of the original and modified sulfur cake were studied using X-ray phase and X-ray structural analyses, IR spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, differential thermal and thermogravimetric analysis. The optimal modifier for sulfur cake was a mixture of styrene, glycerol, and oleic acid, which led to the formation of acetal (polyoxymethylene) and an improvement in the structure due to a decrease in the content of impurities. Modification of sulfur cake with styrene resulted in the appearance of a CAr–S bond band at 571 cm−1, and modification with oleic acid a C–S band in the region of 694 cm−1 in the IR spectra. The results of differential scanning calorimetric analysis showed an increase in the heat of fusion of sulfur by 12.45 J/g in the samples of sulfur cake modified with glycerol and styrene. Modification of sulfur cake with oleic acid and a mixture of reagents resulted in the appearance of a third peak with maxima at 244.2 and 264.0 °C, which demonstrated a significant effect of the indicated additives on the thermal behavior of the sulfur cake. Oil sludge is one of the main pollutants generated by the oil industry. Due to serious pollution and increasing oil production, problems arise every year in the effective treatment of oil sludge. The current study examines the composition and physicochemical characteristics of oil sludge, as well as traditional and new methods for processing oil sludge. With the tightening of environmental protection requirements, oil sludge quality reduction, recycling, and harmless treatment technologies will become necessary in the future. The primary task was to determine the composition of tank oil sludge, separate it from mechanical impurities, and study the influence of ultrasonic treatment and subsequent atmospheric distillation on the extract. The separation of the concentrate and the composition of the tank oil sludge, using an extracted mixture of hexane and benzene, are considered. The use of modern SEM methods, elemental analysis, NMR analysis, IR, ultrasound, and GC–mass spectrometry made it possible to characterize the organic part of reservoir oil sludge and its distillation products. First, 300 g of tank oil sludge was preheated and mixed with 300 mL of solvent (hexane:benzene = 1:1). After mixing with the solvent, the result mixture was filtered. Then, it was placed in an ultrasonic bath and exposed to ultrasound at a frequency of 100 kHz for 30 min. After processing, it was extracted in a Soxhlet apparatus at a temperature of 65 °C to isolate the extract. The resulting extract was analyzed on a gas chromatograph with mass detection. The composition of the extract was as follows (in %): hexane—83.99; total hydrocarbon isomers—7.12; n-hydrocarbons—2.52; benzene—6.37%. At a temperature of 85 °C, the benzene yield was 65.85%. It has been established that the fractions obtained through the distillation of oil sludge at temperatures of 65–85 °C have improved dissolving capacity. It has also been shown that the use of these fractions promotes an increase in the content of hydrocarbon isomers by 12–13% in the extract composition. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Kazakhstan is experiencing a gradual decline in commercial oil reserves. First of all, this is due to the low probability of discovering new large deposits in the main oil and gas complexes, which are well studied by geological and geophysical methods. Purpose. To identify key criteria that determine the possibilities for searching for hydrocarbons in a given geological area. Methodology. The study includes an assessment of the underground horizons’ structural features, reservoir properties analysis and study on hydrogeological parameters of the region. For the analysis of hydrocarbon potential, the results obtained while conducting geological exploration work were used. The methods of mathematical statistics were used to process the experimental data. Findings. The results of a complex analysis of geodynamic and hydrogeological factors affecting the hydrocarbon potential of the Alakol depression in Kazakhstan are presented. Geodynamic criteria play an important role in the assessment and exploration of oil and gas deposits. In this connection, the main geodynamic factors which are usually considered when studying the oil and gas potential are shown. Originality. Based on the data from geodynamic and hydrogeological studies, it can be concluded that there are three eras of intense sedimentation in the region, with a special emphasis on the Carboniferous and Jurassic. Lower Jurassic deposits are important to study, especially in the context of hydrocarbon potential. Therefore, the results of the assessment of the oil and gas potential of the Alakol sedimentary basin are of scientific novelty. Practical value. The results of the study are of practical significance and can be used in planning and carrying out work on the search and exploration of hydrocarbons in the Alakol depression. Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) is a herbaceous annual plant of the Cruciferous family, the Cabbage genus. This oilseed crop is widely used in many areas of industry and agriculture. High-quality oil obtained from rapeseed can be found in many industrial food products. To date, extracts with a high content of biologically active substances are obtained from rapeseed using modern extraction methods. Brassica napus L. seeds contain polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fatty acids, carotenoids, phytosterols, flavonoids, vitamins, glucosinolates and microelements. The data in this review show that rapeseed biocompounds have therapeutic effects in the treatment of various types of diseases. Some studies indicate that rapeseed can be used as an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiviral, hypoglycemic and anticancer agent. In the pharmaceutical industry, using rapeseed as an active ingredient may help to develop new forms drugs with wide range of therapeutic effects. This review focuses on aspects of the extraction of biocompounds from rapeseed and the study of its pharmacological properties.

The work is devoted to the activation of metal powder mixtures suitable for use in flameless food heaters. Four activated powders have been manufactured starting from the reference material using a standard technique. Activated powders exhibited a significant increment of the reactivity for the reference mixture. Experimental tests were carried out to characterize the resulting composites in terms of the combustion rate. The oxidation reaction at a low heating rate was monitored using a SEIKO EXTAR II thermal analysis machine and its tests were carried out at open air in temperature range starting from room temperature up to 1150 °C at the heating rate of 10 °C/min. Powders activated by mechanical activations and the initial mixture of materials were characterized in terms of apparent density, absorbed surfactant with the mass of sizing, i.e. granulometry, oxidation properties at a low heating rate. With increase the grinding time, the color of the powder switches to dark tones. Powder granulometry was performed on a MALVERN laser granulometer MASTERSIZER 2000 using dry block SCIROCCO. Three measurements for each sample were performed and the results were averaged. The tests were recorded and processed by digital technology to make the combustion rate of the powders, also the experimental setup used for investigations was presented. The sample AlS-AlF_MnO2_SiO-150 is characterized by the lowest metal content, and by the most regular combustion propagation. The powder AlS-AlF_MnO2_SiO-50 features the highest metal content, but the less regular combustion propagation. The use of mechanical activation allows increasing the number of nanoscale materials, which contributes to the synthesis of highly effective flameless food heaters.

This paper considers the effect of aging processes on viscoelastic characteristics of vacuum residue oxidation products modified with crumb rubber. Viscoelastic properties were compared to original bitumen raw material-vacuum residue and vacuum residue oxidation products during short-term and long-term aging. The complex shear modulus of the vacuum residue and its oxidation products decreased with an increase in temperature. Short-term aging resulted in increased shear modulus for all samples.The vacuum residue oxidation product modified with crumb rubber had the maximum values of the rutting parameter and fatigue parameter. There was an expansion of the temperature range of plasticity: for the vacuum residue oxidation product with crumb rubber, its value was 67.2 °C. The curves of the black diagram of the modified vacuum residue oxidation product are shifted towards smaller phase angles with the increase in the shear modulus, which indicates the increase in the stiffness and elasticity of the rubber bitumen binders. The vacuum residue oxidation product modified with crumb rubber corresponded to the rubber bitumen binder of the grade RBB 60/90, according to its physical and mechanical indicators.

In the paper, structural changing of resin-asphaltene molecules in cracking process of oil sand bitumen are investigated. Cracking process to natural bitumen carried out in an open-to-air reactor, which extracted from oil sand by organic solvent. Reaction temperature was 450 °С and process duration was 60 min. The reactor was heated at a rate of 10 °C/min up to the desired temperature. Di-tert-butyl peroxide was used as radical formation additive. When limiting oxygen, it can be used catalyst molecule supplies as the oxidizer. The thermal destruction processes of heavy hydrocarbons with the catalyst make it possible to increase the yield of low boiling liquid products with the formation of coke and gas as by-products. High temperature leads to increase the oil content, and decrease the total resinasphaltene components in bitumen. Monte Carlo method used for construction the molecular structure of resin-asphaltene components. The calculations data determined the most stable conformation of resins and asphaltenes molecules, that the stability of the molecules affect structural characteristics such as the number of structural blocks, their size and spatial arrangement of atoms with respect to each other. Microscopic images showed that the asphaltenes have around 40‒50 nm of particle size, which large monolithic switching, weakly focused on a major surface, provided with amorphous carbon.

Transformations of high-molecular-weight compounds of oil sand natural bitumen under the heat treatment were studied in this work. For that purpose the natural bitumen isolated from oil sand taken from the Beke field (Kazakhstan) was used as a substrate. Thermal processing of natural bitumen leads to a general change in the chemical composition of components and to an increase in the output of certain fractions. The contents of oil, tar and asphaltenes were determined and the elemental composition of tar-asphaltene compounds was evaluated. Molecular structures of the tar and asphaltene components of natural bitumen before and after cracking have been defined from the data of elemental analysis, NMR spectroscopy and molecular weight. The high molecular compounds were presented as giant molecules containing small aromatic islands some of which were linked by aliphatic chains, that was proved by infrared spectroscopy.

A study on the effect of silica nanoparticles (SNPs) dispersion in bitumen is herein reported. First, the size of the nanoparticles was finely tuned by controlling the experimental conditions during their synthesis, obtaining spherical SNPs with diameter ranging from 95 up to 900 nm. Subsequently, SNPs were embedded with peripheral amine groups by using APTES (3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane) as functionalized agent (NH2@SNP), and ultimately long alkyl chains were grafted by reacting the free amine with an alkylated aldehyde (C14N@SNP). All SNPs (ca. 1 wt%.) were dispersed in bitumen to probe their effect on the rheological properties of bitumen. No significant change in the thermorheological properties of bitumen was observed upon varying the size of the SNPs. Slight improvement was observed when using NH2@SNPs, while the best results were obtained by using C14N@SNPs, showing the crucial role that hydrophobic substituents play in bitumen binders which leads to significant improvements.

In the paper separation methods of organic part from oil sands were investigated at experimentally. For the determination of organic part (liquid fraction) of oil sands the extraction methods was used in Soxhlet apparatus by solvent. Thermal processing was carried out with a monotonic heating of oil sands from room temperature to 500 ºC. As showing results, organic part of Beke and Munayli-Mola oil sands studied by extraction method were 12.0 wt.% and 16 wt.%. Thermal processing results showed, that the organic part of Beke and Munayli-Mola oil sands were 9.6 wt.% and 13.5 wt.%. Physical and chemical characteristics of liquid fraction are established by standard methods.

In the paper microscopic structure and physicochemical characteristics of asphaltenes were investigated. Asphaltene was precipitated from natural bitumen of oil sand of Munaily-Mola deposit using organic solvent of petroleum ether. According to results of our work, we found that the largest yield of asphaltens was reached by using the petroleum ether in 40-fold amount in relation to the initial hitch of bitumen. Chemical composition of precipitated asphaltenes aggregates were studied on FT-Infra red spectrometer Spectrum-65 at 450-4000 cm-1. At the Infrared spectrum, that the broad absorption band of asphaltenes at 3000-3600 cm-1 are characterizing the presence of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and aliphatic chains in the samples of asphaltens. Elemental composition of the samples of asphaltenes on the installation of x-ray fluorescent spectrometer "Focus-M2". Also found the presence of two crystalline phases. One - quartz content is less than one percent. Another phase is also present in very small quantities and is represented by a single line of diffraction d = 4.158 Å. The microstructures and microanalysis of asphaltenes were investigated with an scanning electron microscopy (Quanta 3D 200i) at an accelerated voltage of 20 kV and a pressure of 0.003 Pa at National Nanotechnological Laboratory of Open Type of Kazakh National University. Microscopic images showed that the asphaltenes have a medium-ordered structure, the main component of the surface is represented by amorphous carbon.
