In this study, the allelopathic potential of aqueous extracts of Codiaeum variegatum L. Rumph. Ex A. Juss. (40%, 20%, 10%, 5%, 2.5%, and 1.25%) on germination, early growth, and physiological activity of the selected plant recipient Lolium perenne L. was investigated. The obtained results confirmed the existence of allelopathic potential, which differed in its possibilities of adverse effects on the morphological and physiological characteristics of the recipient plant. The monitoring of the germination characteristics of the recipient plant showed that the tested extracts exhibited a concentration-dependent effect, i.e., stronger concentrations had a stronger inhibitory effect. A weaker negative effect on the growth of the selected species was observed, and it was shown that the root length of the seedling was usually under the stronger inhibitory effect of higher concentrations of extracts, in contrast to the length of the shoot, where all the applied extracts had a significant stimulatory effects. Moreover, allelochemicals of C. variegatum were shown to interfere with the synthesis of phenolic compounds and antioxidant capacity of L. perenne seedlings, the values of which decreased with increasing concentration of test extracts.

Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is an innovative engineering wood product made by gluing layers of solid timber boards placed in an orthogonally alternating orientation to the neighbouring layers. CLT panels provide an efficient solution for floors in single and multi-storey buildings. Due to their light weight and often long-span, the design of these floors is generally governed by serviceability limit state criteria, that is, deflection or vibration limits. Vibrations induced by dynamic actions, such as people walking and their everyday activities, cannot result in structural failure but may cause discomfort to occupants if vibrations are not properly controlled. This paper gives an overview of some available methods for the vibration serviceability design of residential CLT floors. Differences between these methods are discussed through the consideration of criteria and their limit values. Although some criteria are common to certain methods, it may happen that the same criteria take into account different factors. In order to get a better description of the actual behaviour of floor structure, certain classifications of floors based on vibration serviceability performance were introduced in design methods.

The priming method is a technique that can greatly improve seed performance and provide high-quality seeds for successful production. In this study, the effect of hormopriming (GA3 and IAA), halopriming (MgSO4 and KNO3), osmopriming (AA, H2O2) and hydropriming (H2O) on the germination, as well as initial stages of growth and development of basil (Ocimum basilicum L. cv. 'Genovese') were investigated. The application of different priming methods not only improved the germination performances of basil, but also significantly influenced the growth of seedlings (root length, shoot length, fresh mass, and vigor index) with the best results achieved by priming with GA3 and H2O2. In addition, it has been found that the concentration of photosynthetic pigments and soluble protein content can be improved by the appropriate priming treatment. The most favorable effect on the examined parameters was achieved during treatment with H2O2.

In this paper, effect of halopriming on germination, initial growth and development of radish under salt stress conditions was investigated. The seeds were treated with different concentrations salts of calcium, potassium, and sodium chloride (CaCl2, KCl, NaCl, respectively) in the form of a standard germination method and priming method, which involves modification of the metabolic activity of seeds in the pregerminative phase. The obtained results showed that all applied salts had inhibitory effects on germination characteristics (GP, RG and U, except MTG) and development of radish seedlings (shoot and root elongation, weight and vigour). Halopriming contributed to the improvement of tolerance to stress conditions, because the obtained values of all germination and growth characteristics were significantly increased. The best effect being achieved by priming with CaCl2 for germination characteristics and vigour and with KCl for initial development.

The success of the project is the main goal in the management of projects of development and implementation of information systems. However, in the projects carried out by the joint team of the client and the consulting organization, the consultant’s goals are also set, namely the acquisition of the consultant’s knowledge and the growth of the consulting organization’s business. In this research, we examined the impact of inter-organizational coordination on the achievement of client and consultant goals. For this purpose, a model of coordination and harmonization of the goals of the client and the consultant in the development and implementation of the information systems project was created. Based on the model, hypotheses were set and tested based on the views of the designers. The hypotheses confirmed the significant influence of coordination on the alignment of client and consultant goals. The scientific contribution of the work relates to new theoretical knowledge in the field of information systems management theory, coordination theory, agency theory and contracting theory. The practical benefits of the research refer to the benefits that managers of client and consulting organizations have in solving the problems and challenges of the development and implementation of an information systems project when it is carried out by a joint team of designers. Notches made at the ends of timber beams significantly decrease load carrying capacity of a structural member. This paper presents an experimental research on bending behaviour of end-notched glulam beams, with and without reinforcement. Screws for timber were used as reinforcement, positioned at angles of 90° and 45° to the longitudinal beam axis. The unreinforced beams failed due to crack opening and its propagation in a brittle manner. Cracks that appeared in the notch details resulted from combined excessive tensile stresses perpendicular to grain and shear stresses. This study shows that reinforcing the beams at the notched ends can improve their load carrying capacity and deformability. However, applied screws did not help the beams achieve ductile failure in bending. The shear failure was dominant failure mechanism for reinforced beams. In addition, analytical calculations were performed in accordance with Eurocode 5 so as to compare the results with experimental research.

The growing need for the reinforcement of timber beams (required due to deterioration or damage to the material or change of use) has led to the development of new methods of reinforcement with modern materials. In the recent years the use of fibre reinforced polymers (FRP) as reinforcement materials for structures has been made possible thanks to the increased availability and lower costs. This paper presents FRP bars as products for strengthening timber structures. Strengthening timber with glass, carbon and basalt FRP can provide better features of timber beams, such as improved load capacity, rigidity and ductility. Also, the paper describes the theoretical model developed in order to predict the flexural capacity and flexural stiffness of timber beams reinforced with FRP bars.

This paper presents a comparative analysis of embodied energy and CO2 emission, in the construction process of three bridge structures. Analyzed structures are prestressed concrete bridges with different structural systems and a total length of 88 meters. The correlation of structural system, construction method, material quantities and embodied energy and CO2 emission were considered. Influence of the selected solutions in main steps of design and construction on the energy consumption and the emission of CO2 is presented. The results should provide a better understanding of the effects of certain factors, in the bridge construction process, and their impact on the environment.

This study focuses on soil pollution in four urban parks of Belgrade. The sampling locations within each park were chosen based on proximity to streets characterized by heavy traffic, and soil samples were taken at different depths down to 50 cm. Concentrations of six heavy metals (Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni and Zn) were measured using Energy Dispersive X-Ray Fluorescence (EDXRF) spectrometer. The following average abundance order of heavy metals was found: Fe >> Mn > Zn > Cr > Ni > Cu in topsoil samples. The highest enrichment in topsoil was observed for Zn. Copper and Zn, metals mainly related to traffic emissions, exhibited the highest concentrations at the sampling location close to a bus and trolleybus terminus. The highest Ni and Cr concentrations were observed in a park located in a city suburb, where a large number of individual heating units is present. The largest decrease in concentrations with soil dept was observed for Zn and Cu, followed by Ni and Cr, in the parks with the highest concentrations of these elements in topsoil. Generally high topsoil Cr and Ni concentrations were observed in comparison with average values reported in literature for other world cities. [Projekat Ministartsva nauke Republike Srbije, br. This paper presents a method for determination the trace contents of silver, copper, iron, palladium, zinc and platinum in refined gold samples. Simultaneous inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometer with radial torch position and cross flow nebulizer was used for determination. In order to compare the different calibration strategies, two sets of calibration standards were prepared. The first set was based on matrix matched calibration standards and the second was prepared without the addition of matrix material. Detection limits for matrix matching calibrations were higher for some elements than those without matrix matching. In addition, the internal standardization method was applied and experiments indicated that indium was the best option as internal standard. The obtained results for gold sample by matrix matching and matrix free calibrations were compared with the obtained results by standard addition method. The accuracy of the methods was tested performing recovery test. Recoveries for spiked sample were in the range of 90-115 %. The accuracy of the methods was also tested by analysis of certified reference material of high pure goldAuGHP1. The best results were achieved by matrix free calibration and standard addition method using indium as internal standard at wavelength of 230 nm.
