International audience; New buildings in urban areas are divided into commercial and habitable areas. Commercial shops typically exist on the ground floors, with private residencies on the upper floors. This use has revealed critical disturbances due to the noise generated by rolling delivery carts when the buildings are mainly occupied (e.g. early in the morning). These carts generate vibrations at low frequencies (below 100 Hz) that propagate easily throughout the building structure and on the upper floors, disturbing the habitants therein. While work has been done to investigate impact noise, little research has been done in the field of rolling noise in buildings. This work presents an original model for rolling noise in buildings, taking into account the roughness of the ground surface and the roughness profile of the wheels. The model considers the mechanical impedance of the ground, including possible flooring noise treatment. It is able to correctly reproduce the measured level of vibrations and noise levels due to rolling noise in the building environment. It is also able to accurately predict the sensitivity to different types of rolling noise and floorings with various properties, based on a single layer or a multi-layer construction.

International audience; La reconstruction de champ source a pour but d'identifier le champ d'excitation en mesurant la réponse du système. Pour l'Holographie acoustique de champ proche (Near-field Acoustic Holography), la réponse du système (pression acoustique rayonnée) est mesurée sur un hologramme bidimensionnel utilisant un réseau de microphones et le champ source (le champ de vitesse acoustique) est reconstruit par une technique de rétro-propagation effectuée dans le domaine des nombres d'ondes. L'objectif des travaux présentés est d'utiliser le même type de techniques pour reconstruire le champ de déplacement sur toute la surface d'une plaque en mesurant les vibrations sur des hologrammes à une dimension (lignes de mesures). Dans le domaine vibratoire, l'équation du mouvement de plaque implique la présence de 4 types d'ondes différents, deux étant purement évanescents. Ces derniers peuvent introduire des instabilités dans l'application de la méthode, notamment lorsque les hologrammes sont placés dans le champ lointain des efforts appliqués à la structure. La méthode présentée ici, appelé "Holographie Vibratoire", est particulièrement intéressante quand une mesure directe du champ de vitesse est impossible. L'holographie vibratoire permet également de séparer les sources dans le cas d'excitations multiples en les considérant comme des ondes allers ou retours. Il est alors possible d'isoler l'influence de chaque source et de quantifier notamment les champs d'intensité structurale que chacune d'elles génère. L'objectif de cette communication est de présenter les principes de l'holographie et de les illustrer par des exemples sur plaque infinie et sur des résultats expérimentaux sur plaque finie.

National audience; Dans le domaine de l'acoustique des transports ou du bâtiment , la transparence de paroi met en jeu un grand nombre de degrés de libertés qu'il s'avère coûteux de modéliser ; soit par le caractère spatialement étendu du champ excitateur et/ou de la structure isolante, soit par l'étendue spectrale nécessaire a la prise en compte de l'ensemble du spectre audible dans la pression rayonnée vers l'auditeur. Ce travail présente une méthode de synth ese spectrale en espace et temps (2D+T) approchée , numériquement apte a synthétiser dans le temps la pression acoustique rayonnée par une paroi plane sous une excitation aléatoire (ici un champ acoustique diffus). Un des intérêts de cette méthode est de permettre une écoute des signaux de pression acoustique rayonnée et l'ajout d'indicateurs psychoacoustiques en complément des indicateurs vibroacoustiques classiquement utilisés , comme la perte par transmission. Pour cette communication, l'objectif est de montrer la pertinence, les avantages et les limites d'une telle méthode numérique pour permettre un design virtuel des structures soumises a des excitations aléatoires. Le cas de deux panneaux minces et isotropes, l'un en aluminium et l'autre en acier, avec des conditions aux limites simplement supportées sera étudie. Une comparaison systématique entre résultats numériques et résultats obtenus dans le cas de mesures en laboratoire (test normalisé en salles couplées réverbérante-anéchoïque , complété par des mesures de pression acoustique rayonnée) sera présentée. En particulier, la précision avec laquelle la méthode permet de prédire la perte par transmission et la pression acoustique rayonnée sera évaluée. Cette dernière fera idéalement l'objet d'une écoute comparative mesure vs modèle lors de la présentation .

International audience; In order to design vehicles with diminished CO2/km emissions level, car manufacturers-among alternatives-aim at reducing the weight of their vehicles. One of the solutions pursued consists in the replacement of metallic structural parts by light weight polymer based composites ones. Naturally, with these new parts, NHV (Noise, Vibration and Harshness) engineers now face the challenge to predict their vibrational responses. In the present study, focusing on PA6 reinforced glass fiber oil pan, mechanical and microstructural characterizations, dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and X-ray tomography measurements respectively were performed and evidenced that the complex modulus of the parent material not only depends on temperature and frequency but also on humidity content and loading direction. The effect of temperature and humidity content was also evidenced on the vibratory response of the oil pan. Further experimental (modal analysis) and numerical (finite element modeling) comparisons up to 2000 Hz were conducted, showing that simplistic material's descriptions are not satisfactory.

Noise source identification still remains a current challenge in industry to act directly at the origin of noise. However, in the case of industrial applications, the main constraints are the complex topology of vibrating structures, their accessibility and the environment of measurement. That's why the source identification method presented here, called M-iPTF for inverse Patch Transfer Functions method with Mixed boundary conditions, has been developed. Indeed, from simple pressure measurements performed around the source and whatever its environment, it is able to reconstruct maps of the different acoustic fields (velocity, pressure and intensity) at the real surface of the structure. It is based on an inverse acoustic problem, formulated from the Green's identity and the definition of a virtual cavity surrounding the source and represented by a numerical modeling., L'identification de source reste aujourd'hui un sujet d'actualité dans l'industrie pour agir à l'origine même du bruit. Toutefois, le milieu industriel impose un certain nombre de contraintes, les principales étant la topologie complexe des structures vibrantes, leur accessibilité et l'environnement de mesures. C'est dans ce contexte que la méthode d'identification de source présentée ici, nommée M-iPTF pour inverse Patch Transfer Functions method with Mixed boundary conditions, a été développée. A partir de simples mesures de pressions effectuées autour de la source et quel que soit son environnement, elle permet de reconstruire les cartographies des différents champs acoustiques (vitesse, pression et intensité) à la surface de la structure. International audience; The acoustic pressure in the nearfield of a wall in a flow can be decomposed in different components: a first part is related to the vortices resulting from the perturbation of the flow by the presence of the wall, a second part is due to the acoustic waves generated by the parietal pressure fluctuations diffracted by the wall, and a third part is potentially caused by any other incident acoustic wave. In many situations, one may be interested in the possibility of extracting experimentally the acoustic part of a parietal pressure. It can be achieved by directly measuring the parietal pressure using flush mounted microphones, and by applying post processing like denoising, wavenumber analysis, modal identification. However, the wall pressure fluctuation is generally largely dominated by the non acoustic part, which complicates the identification because of very low SNR. A second possibility is to identify the parietal pressure from the vibration of the wall itself using inverse methods. This approach offers the possibility to use the structure as a wavenumber filter, improving significantly the SNR. The aim of this paper is to compare two approaches based on direct and indirect measurements in the framework of an experiment in a wind tunnel. The direct approach uses several cleaning methods applied to the measured wall pressure fluctuation, and the indirect approach is based on the identification of the pressure from vibration measurements.

International audience; L'identification des sources vibro-acoustiques sur un GMP (Groupe Moto-Propulseur) reste aujourd'hui un sujet d'actualité pour pouvoir agir sur les causes du bruit. Pour cela, les acousticiens disposent de méthodes expérimentales d'identification et peuvent utiliser des outils de simulation numérique. Le développement de la simulation, dont l'intérêt à long terme est de réduire les prototypes physiques coûteux, passe par une étape indispensable de comparaison entre les essais et les calculs. Seulement, les principales méthodes expérimentales d'identification de sources acoustiques utilisées aujourd'hui en automobile ne sont pas assez précises, notamment en termes de localisation, pour permettre une telle corrélation. C'est dans ce contexte que la méthode présentée ici, nommée M-iPTF pour inverse Patch Transfer Functions with Mixed boundary conditions, a été développée. Grâce à un couplage de données expérimentales et numériques, elle est capable de reconstruire, à partir de mesures acoustiques, le champ de vitesse normale à la surface même de pièces de géométries complexes. Cet article présente la théorie sur laquelle s'appuie la méthode, en particulier l'application de l'identité de Green sur une cavité fictive entourant la source, sa validation numérique complète et une application expérimentale. In view of the foreseen ISO 362 standard update in a more restrictive way, power-train exte-rior noise is likely to become a relevant issue in the automotive industry. This will lead to a strong focus on the design of engine shields and other thermo-acoustic trim parts positioned inside the engine bay. The possibility of designing such parts in an efficient and cost-effective way will call for reliable simulation methods to tackle real industrial cases. These methods cannot be easily taken for granted since, to be useful in the design of engine bay components aimed at exterior noise reduction, they have to satisfy quite challenging require-ments as being able to: 1) take into account large frequency ranges and big model sizes in a reasonable computation time (about 1 day), 2) represent very complex domains and 3) repre-sent design changes affecting sources or acoustic transfer paths. This article intends to docu-ment the progress made in these last years by commercially available deterministic simula-tion methodologies in relation to the above-mentioned problem. The object of the simulations consists in evaluating the exterior Acoustic Transfer Functions (ATFs) of a simplified (but not trivial) vehicle engine bay mock-up. The focus was concentrated on both traditional and more innovative deterministic analysis methods: the Boundary Elements (BE) method, Finite Elements (FE) related methods (Infinite Elements, Perfectly Matched Layer (PML) method) and the Patch Transfer Functions (PTF) method, pushing them to cover all the frequency range up to 3.5 kHz. The capabilities of these methods to well represent both acoustic trim parts effect and apertures positioning around the engine bay was assessed and their computa-tional performance compared.

International audience; Statistical energy analysis (SEA) is a statistical theory of sound and vibration based on an analogy with thermodynamics. The main relationship of statistical energy analysis, the so-called coupling power proportionality, is intimately linked with the establishment of a diffuse vibration field in subsystems. In this study, we explore the conditions under which a diffuse field is enforced. We show that when the subsystem is excited by a point force, a low damping, a high frequency but also a ergodic billiard geometry are required conditions. Then, the energy exchange between two weakly coupled subsystems is proportional to the difference of vibrational energies. But when the field is not diffuse, the exchange of energy does not generally follow this proportionality. Numerical simulations are provided to support the discussion.
