We report 3 cases of very rare dermatoses with retroauricular location, having lesions of "milia en plaque" type. These dermatoses are the retroauricular follicular lichen planus tumidus, the retroauricular "milia en plaque" and an exceptional case of sebocystomatosis (steatocystoma multiplex) with exclusively retroauricular location, which is unique in the literature. In this group of retroauricular dermatoses can also be included the small retention cysts and comedones of the retroauricular area, attributed to paraffin products in shaving soap inadequately rinsed from this region. On the occasion of these cases we make a review of the literature and a detailed study of the retroauricular follicular lichen planus tumidus and retroauricular milia en plaque and we discuss the differential diagnosis emphasizing the clinical and histologic features, which permit to make the accurate diagnosis.

A case of lichen purpuricus in a 19-year-old male is reported. The eruption appeared on the left hand 4 years ago, disappeared spontaneously after 2 years and reappeared later. It was characterized by a few asymptomatic, dark-red colored macules and papules, scattered and not confluent in a plaque. No clinical diagnosis could be made. Histopathological examination showed the presence in the upper dermis of a dense cellular infiltrate and of hemosiderin granules. The infiltrate was composed of lymphocytes, histiocytes and numerous extravasated red cells; it had an bandlike arrangement and was generally separated from the epidermis. On this occasion, a review of the literature and a study of the clinical and histopathological features, as well as of the etiopathogenesis of this dermatosis, are made.

A 34-year-old man had an unusual mummified cutaneous mixed tumor that developed shortly after trauma. The apocrine type of tumor cells and pilar differentiation could explain the presence of mummification.

We report 2 exceptional cases of solitary nodular calcinosis of the skin, the first to be observed in Greece, with the clinical appearance of cutaneous horn and milium respectively. The latter clinical form has not been described in the literature. Histopathological examination of the first case shows the presence of numerous calcified concretions in the papillary dermis, directly beneath the epidermis, which is intensely hyperkeratotic and papillomatous. The calcified concretions are also seen in the lymphatic capillaries, the intraepidermal sweat ducts and horny layer; at a site they perforate the epidermis and penetrate in a sweat pore. The stroma presents an angiomatous appearance. Histopathological examination of the second case shows the presence of two well demarcated calcified masses in the upper dermis, the larger one being subepidermal, the other one being situated a little further from the epidermis. The smaller mass contains numerous hair shafts and is partially surrounded by a true epithelial wall, similar to that of an epidermal cyst.

We report an exceptional case of multinodular plaque-type blue nevus in a 63-year-old woman, located on the presternal region. The lesions appeared at the age of 25 years on an achromic area. The probable clinical diagnosis was that of a pigmentary nevus. Histopathological examination showed a partially cellular blue nevus with a superficial topography and a neuroid arrangement. On this occasion, a review of the literature and a study of this peculiar form of blue nevus are made.
