As the third decade of the twenty-first century begins, Vietnam embarks on a more advanced phase of national development and international integration, with a greater emphasis on foreign policy as part of the country's overall national defence and development strategy. This informs greater expectations about shifts in Vietnam's foreign policy perception and discourse in pursuit of national interests and the regime's legitimacy amidst major domestic and international developments. This article analyses the making, in terms of processes and actors, and the evolution, in terms of themes and directions, of Vietnam's foreign policy under the Thirteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which was held in early 2021. The article argues that while embedding continuity with what the country has been pursuing since its renovation process (known as Doi Moi) started in the mid-1980s, Vietnam's foreign policy under the Thirteenth Party Congress is crafted on a broader base of domestic consensus and features new dimensions, implying stronger domestic support for Hanoi's conduct of foreign affairs and a Vietnamese nation brand with greater visibility and contribution in the regional and global arenas in the coming years.

DYT-TOR1A or DYT1 early-onset generalized dystonia is an inherited movement disorder characterized by sustained muscle contractions causing twisting, repetitive movements, or abnormal postures. The majority of the DYT1 dystonia patients have a trinucleotide GAG deletion in DYT1/TOR1A. Trihexyphenidyl (THP), an antagonist for excitatory muscarinic acetylcholine receptor M1, is commonly used to treat dystonia. Dyt1 heterozygous ΔGAG knock-in (KI) mice, which have the corresponding mutation, exhibit impaired motor-skill transfer. Here, the effect of THP injection during the treadmill training period on the motor-skill transfer to the accelerated rotarod performance was examined. THP treatment reversed the motor-skill transfer impairment in Dyt1 KI mice. Immunohistochemistry showed that Dyt1 KI mice had a significant reduction of the dorsolateral striatal cholinergic interneurons. In contrast, Western blot analysis showed no significant alteration in the expression levels of the striatal enzymes and transporters involved in the acetylcholine metabolism. The results suggest a functional alteration of the cholinergic system underlying the impairment of motor-skill transfer and the pathogenesis of DYT1 dystonia. Training with THP in a motor task may improve another motor skill performance in DYT1 dystonia.

The aim of the study was to determine the status of the creativity quotient (CQ) in 120 students of 10th grade in High school for gifted student, Hanoi National University of Education and define the association between some environmental factors and CQ. The method to determine CQ was the test for creative thinking - drawing production (TCT-DP). The results showed that 3% of the students were at A level, 15% are B level, 23% are C level, 44% are D level, 7% are E level, 6% are F level and 2% are G level. Some factors related to family characteristics that reduce the risk of low CQ and increase the posibility of high CQ were: stable occupation of parents, number of children in the family, strict mother, supportive parents when children make mistakes. Factors about children's activities that helped increase their creativity include: volunteer to be a class official, enroll in extracurricular clubs, participating in the artistic activities and enjoy artistic activities.

Bezkręgowce wodne to zróżnicowana grupa organizmów zamieszkujących obszary przybrzeżne na całym świecie, w regionach obejmujących klimat alpejski, suchy, śródziemnomorski, polarny, umiarkowany i tropikalny. Bezkręgowce przybrzeżne ujść rzek obejmują taksony bentosowe, planktonowe i stygobitowe, od szeroko rozpowszechnionych taksonów do oceny jakości wody. Klasyfikowane według wielkości jako makrobezkręgowce lub mniejsza meiofauna, makrobezkręgowce są szerzej badane, chociaż meiofauna może być również różnorodna i obfita w społecznościach wodnych. Wpływ czynników środowiskowych na różnorodność bezkręgowców badano na obszarze przybrzeżnym Tien Giang w południowym Wietnamie. Badanie zostało przeprowadzone w okresie od marca 2019 do września 2021, obejmując zarówno porę suchą, jak i deszczową. Dane z 10 miejsc wykorzystano jako reprezentatywny przykład dla obszaru przybrzeżnego Tien Giang do przeprowadzenia badania jakościowego. Aby przeprowadzić tę ocenę, analizy oparto na metodach MRC i klasyfikacjach, które zostały udoskonalone przez grupę naukową realizującą badania. Badano zmienne biologiczne i środowiskowe w celu przetestowania analizy wariancji (ANOVA) i korelacji Pearsona R między wszystkimi parametrami przy użyciu oprogramowania statystycznego. The research was conducted at the Pho Yen Chicken Research Station, Thuy Phuong Poultry Research Center, from January 2019 to August 2020 to evaluate the productive ability of the combinations of hybrid parent hens (♂TN1 x ♀TN2, ♂TN1 x ♀TN3, ♂TN1 x ♀TN32) and commercial chicken TN12, TN13, TN132. The results achieved: 3 parent hen hybrid combinations (♂TN1 x ♀TN2, ♂TN1 x ♀TN3, ♂TN1 x ♀TN32) have the egg yield/hen/68 weeks of age and feed consumption/10 eggs are 191.74 eggs and 2.30 kg; 196.32 eggs and 2.27 kg; 198.78 eggs and 2.25 kg respectively. The rate of embryo reaches 97.43, 97.07, and 97.67%. The commercial chickens TN12, TN13, TN132 have the body weight at 8 weeks of age and feed consumption/kg body weight gain are 2440.07 and 2.29 kg; 2360.12 and 2.26 kg; and 2407.15 g and 2.22 kg respectively.

A photometric method to determine molecular oxygen in water was developed. When manganese(II) is oxidized by oxygen under alkaline conditions, the presence of polyphosphate can prevent precipitation due to a coacervate reaction. The oxidized manganese later dissolves in acid to form a pink Mn(III) species, which has a stable UV/vis spectrum. Monitoring of the oxygen concentration based on the absorbance of the pink Mn(III) species at 517 nm showed a strong correlation with both the Winkler method and an optical sensor. As a result, the present method can measure not only dissolved oxygen, but also fine bubbles oxygen in in the water sample with high reliability (0 - 26 mg dm-3, r2 = 0.9995). During this process, no significant interference from nitrite or metal ions was observed. The accuracy of the measurement was steady at high temperatures of the water samples (≤ 363 K).

One of the five key tasks of the National Strategy on Biodiversity to 2030 is “Investigating, inventorying, evaluating and building a national database on biodiversity”. Maps and geographic information systems are two indispensable tools for this task. The objective of this study was to build the map of biodiversity status, focusing on the level of species diversity for Tien Giang province. The input data derived from the results of the available biodiversity statistics combined with additional investigation from the research project of ĐTNN 07/2020. The map layers were compiled from data sources, including (i) secondary data: map of topography, map of land-use status, map of land types, map of sea level rise and flood risk, map of saline intrusion boundary, biodiversity data; and (ii) primary data: survey data on biodiversity and threats. All maps created in this study met the technical process of setting up environment maps in Vietnam (Circular No. 17/2011/TT-BTNMT). This paper has completed 05 thematic maps with a scale of 1:100,000 including: Map of environment for biodiversity conservation; Ecosystem map; Map of species richness, Map of biodiversity conservation status, and Map of threats to biodiversity. This study will help local managers and scientists in managing and looking up detailed information on biodiversity conservation in Tien Giang province more accurately and effectively.

We present an analytical method for dissolved oxygen based on the quantification of Mn(III) absorbance in a water sample. After Mn(II) reacts with the oxygen molecules in water, Mn(III) is formed and stabilized by hexa-metaphosphate under acidic conditions. The UV visible absorbance of Mn(III) is proportional to the oxygen concentration in the water sample. Compared to the Winkler method, the proposed method has the same accuracy (R = 0.9992 at 0 - 52 mg dm-3) but requires fewer reagents; furthermore, it does not involve titration. Interferences from nitrite and iodate were not observed. This procedure can be used to accurately and quickly determine the oxygen concentrations in different natural water sources, including seawater.

Introduction: Bruguiera cylindrica is one of the mangrove plants belonging to Bruguiera genus. This genus is characterized by the presence of a large number of compounds, but the research on bioactivities has not been investigated so far. In the present research, the α-glucosidase inhibitory activity, as well as chemical constituents of the ethyl acetate extract of this plant, were studied. Methods: The chemical structures of two new compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic and computational methods. Results: Two new compounds, benzobrugierol (1) and bruguierine (2), were isolated from leaves of Bruguiera cylindrica (L.) Blume, together with nine known ones, including lupeol (3), betulin (4), chrysoeriol (5), glut-5-ene-3-ol (6), cholesta-4-ene-3-one (7), 3α-(Z)-coumaroyllupeol (8), 3α-(E)-coumaroyllupeol (9), 3β-hydroxycholesta-5-ene-7-one (10) and β-sitosterol 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (11). Extracts and some isolated compounds were evaluated for α-glucosidase inhibitory activities. Conclusion: The results showed that most of the extracts and tested compounds exhibited activities better than the positive control acarbose, especially two new compounds 1 and 2 with their IC50 values of 17.9 ± 0.4 and 34.6 ± 0.7 (mg/mL), respectively.

International audience; Irrigation systems contribute worldwide to the provision of a wide range of services on which the survival and well-being of humanity depend. They are of primary importance in Vietnam where about 90% of the water used is for irrigation and aquaculture and where agriculture is the largest employer and a major contributor to the national GDP and to the income of the low-salary households. Nevertheless, irrigation systems have recently been subjected to several issues including increasing demand, pollution, under-investment, depletion of resources or environmental changes. Any mitigation measure against these issues needs to be sustainable with respect to the very diverse uses of the water, the changing conditions upstream and downstream, and the somewhat conflicting objectives carried out by land-use/agricultural planning on one hand and urbanization and society well-being on the other. This need of sustainability requires the design of innovative tools to tackle these issues. This work aims at exploring the usage of Agent-Based Modelling coupled with a tangible and interactive interface in order to enhance interactions between stakeholders and support the evaluation of various alternatives of the management of the Bac Hung Hai irrigation system.

The risk factors for prostate cancer include a high-fat diet and obesity, both of which are associated with an altered cell environment including increased inflammation. It has been shown that chronic inflammation due to a high-fat diet or bacterial infection has the potential to accelerate prostate cancer as well as its precursor, prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia (PIN), development. However, the underlying mechanism of how chronic inflammation promotes prostate cancer development, especially PIN, remains unclear. In this study, we showed that more macrophages were present in PIN areas as compared to the normal areas of human prostate. When co-culturing PIN cells with macrophages in 3D, more PIN cells had nuclear localized cyclin D1, indicating that macrophages enhanced PIN cell proliferation. We identified ICAM-1 and CCL2 as chemoattractants expressed by PIN cells to recruit macrophages. Furthermore, we discovered that macrophage-secreted cytokines including C5a, CXCL1, and CCL2 were responsible for increased PIN cell proliferation. These three cytokines activated ERK and JNK signaling in PIN cells through a ligand-receptor interaction. However, only blockade of ERK abolished macrophage cytokines-induced cell proliferation of PIN. Overall, our results provide a mechanistic view on how macrophages activated through chronic inflammation can expedite PIN progression during prostate cancer development. The information from our work can facilitate a comprehensive understanding of prostate cancer development, which is required for improvement of current strategies for prostate cancer therapy.
