Tämä tutkimus yhdistää Robert Putnamin ja Pierre Bourdieun teoriat tarkastellakseen sosiaalisen pääoman, subjektiivisen hyvinvoinnin ja yhteiskuntaluokan välisiä yhteyksiä. Tutkimuksessa huomioidaan samanaikaisesti sosiaalisen pääoman kolme ulottuvuutta – sosiaaliset verkostot, luottamus ja vastavuoroisuuden velvoite – ja etsitään vastauksia kahteen kysymykseen: missä määrin sosiaalisen pääoman määrä vaihtelee yhteiskuntaluokkien välillä ja miten sosiaalisen pääoman yhteys hyvinvointiin vaihtelee eri yhteiskuntaluokkien välillä? Aineistona käytetään European Social Surveyn kuudennen aallon (2012) Suomen otosta. Tulokset ovat sekä Bourdieun että Putnamin näkemysten mukaiset. Ne paljastavat systemaattisia eroja sosiaalisen pääoman määrässä yhteiskuntaluokkien välillä. Professioluokalla on muita enemmän ja työväenluokalla puolestaan muita vähemmän sosiaalista pääomaa lähes kaikilla mittareilla mitattuna. Tulokset osoittavat myös, että Putnamilaisen sosiaalisen pääoman käsitteen jokaisella ulottuvuudella on yhteys hyvinvointiin yhteiskuntaluokasta riippumatta. Tutkimustulokset antavat syyn uskoa, että vahvistamalla ihmisten välisiä sosiaalisia yhteyksiä voidaan lisätä onnellisuuden ja hyvinvoinnin määrää kaikissa yhteiskuntaluokissa.

This is the Final Report, summing up and analysing the entire Reality Check series of studies. In line with the main objective/idea of the series, is based on qualitative information and data or “poor people’s perspectives on development in order to capture the multidimensionality of poverty, offer insights into causal processes and allow for a triangulation of information from different sources” (Swedish Embassy 2010/ToR) – using the quantitative data collected in 2011 and 2015 to validate the processes/dynamics described/analysed.

This is the Annual Report for the 5 th Reality Check, synthesising the main findings from the sub-reports on Cuamba, Lago and Majune. Fieldwork was carried out in October 2015. The focus in this report is on the quantitative expressions of poverty and well-being in the three study sites, as these appeared through the Reality Check Baseline (2011) and Endline (2015) surveys.

As Constatações da Realidade em Moçambique são executadas pela ORGUT Consulting (Suécia) em associação com a COWI Lda. (Mozambique) e o Chr. Michelsen Institute (Noruega), em nome da Embaixada da Suécia em Maputo. As Constatações da Realidade foram implementadas entre 2011 e 2016, tendo o trabalho de campo sido realizado em cada ano nos Distritos de Cuamba, Majune e Lago, na Província do Niassa. Este é o Relatório Anual da 5ª Constatação da Realidade, sintetizando as principais conclusões dos três sub-relatórios. Doctoral dissertation Author: Minna Tuominen Title: The Still Lifes of Edwaert Collier (1642 1708) Among seventeenth-century Dutch still life painters Edwaert Collier is best known for his vanitas paintings. He also painted a considerable number of trompe l oeils. These paintings constitute the primary material for my thesis, along with the biographical records from Breda, Haarlem, Leiden, Amsterdam and London, all places where Collier lived. This research is an examination of the variety of and changes in Collier s production in his sub-genres and of the intriguing questions that his paintings raise. It explores how Collier succeeded in widespread art markets with his speciality in still life painting. This study offers new information on Edwaert Collier s oeuvre, his biography, the value of his still lifes among buyers and his position as an artist. I have grouped Collier s works into four different themes: the vanitas motif of the overturned crown, the world of knowledge referred to by multiple texts, different modes of self-portraiture and the medium and subjects of trompe l oeil. The complementary approaches this study applies include iconology, studies in representing artist self-awareness, research into the material culture of the seventeenth century, and research into the seventeenth-century art market and art collecting. Contextualizing the depiction of the exchange and growth of wealth in a particular socio-historical situation has been considered as well. A large number of Collier s preserved paintings (ca 180 registered) suggest continuous production and his willingness to seek out new pictorial solutions for his customers. Collier called upon a wide repertoire of themes derived from the tradition of the vanitas genre in his paintings, but he also managed to create an identifiable style of his own by using a few recognizable compositions and, over time, by including items with new connotations into his still lifes. Changes in his style reflect the trends of his time, which is best seen in his trompe l oeils and their connection to the impact of the English art market. His paintings gained fame among buyers because he merged traditional elements with contemporary sources from the society of his day in his works. In his paintings Collier included various sorts of texts, such as books, newspapers and parliamentary speeches, which together built up a system of citations and commentaries on the arts, religion and politics. Collier elevated his artistic status by representing himself as a learned man and he also signed his paintings in multiple ways. He incorporated his signature in the elements depicted, such as letters and almanacs, and he included his own portrait in his still lifes in such a way that it advertised his talents as a still life painter. Besides himself, Collier portrayed an impressive group of people, who were depicted in drawings, miniatures or prints which were placed conspicuously among the other still life objects or set illusionistically within the trompe l oeil representations. It was a conscious way of drawing attention to a certain ideology or fate which the depicted people represented, and it also positioned the painter himself as an erudite artist in an artistic continuum stretching from antiquity to the time in which he lived. This study presents Edwaert Collier as an active painter who captured various phenomena from his times in his still lifes. Tekijä: Minna Tuominen Väitöskirjatutkimus The Still Lifes of Edwaert Collier (c. 1640 1708) käsittelee hollantilaisen asetelmamaalari Edwaert Collierin taiteellista tuotantoa, jonka laajuudeksi voidaan tänä päivänä arvioida n. 180 teosta. Hänet tunnetaan parhaiten vanitas (lat. turhuus) ja trompe l oeil (ransk. silmän harhautus) -asetelmista. Tarkastelen taiteilijan valitsemien esittämistapojen kautta Collierin taiteilijakuvaa, sen syntymistä ja ylläpitoa, vertailemalla sitä kuvallisen esittämisen keinoihin, joilla taiteilijan asemaa ajan taidemarkkinoilla tuotettiin. Arvioin mitkä olivat Collierin menestymisen taustatekijät ja kuvastrategiset keinot kussakin historiallisessa tilanteessa, jossa hän eli ja johon hän teoksillaan otti kantaa. Lisäksi tutkin, millaisia kannanottoja yhteiskunnasta Collierin taiteessa välittyi. Edwaert Collierin teosten tutkimus tuo uutta tietoa Collierin tuotannosta ja elämänvaiheista, asetelmataiteen arvostuksesta ostajien keskuudessa sekä taiteilijan asemasta. Collier syntyi Bredassa, siirtyi nuorena Haarlemin kautta Leideniin, ja 1690-luvulla Amsterdamin kautta Lontooseen. Arkistotutkimus näissä kaupungeissa on selvittänyt Collierin elämänkertatietoja, joihin Collier on viitannut myös teoksissaan. Tutkimukseni nojaa teosten analysointiin, jotka olen ryhmitellyt neljään eri teemaan: vanitas -motiivi ylösalaisen kruunun kuvauksena, maalatut tekstit oppineisuuteen viittauksina, omakuvauksen tavat ja trompe l oeil -aiheet ilmaisukeinoina. Käytän tutkimuksessa toisiaan täydentäviä lähestymistapoja, joita ovat ikonologia, taiteilija omakuvien tutkimus, materiaalisen kulttuurin tutkimus sekä 1600-luvun taiteen kaupan ja keräilyn tutkimus. Lisäksi kontekstualisoin teosanalyysejä kuhunkin sosiaalihistorialliseen tilanteeseen. Tutkimusaineiston valossa Collier näyttäytyy aktiivisena taiteilijana, joka haki vaihtelevaa ostajakuntaansa miellyttäviä maalausratkaisuja kilpailussa porvarillisen taiteen markkinoilla. Collierin vanitas -asetelmien yksityiskohdat, kuten pääkallot, kirjat ja musiikki-instrumentit olivat hänen teostensa lähtökohtina, mutta hänen onnistui luoda itselleen tunnistettava tyyli, riittävästi toistamalla samankaltaisia kompositioita ja toisaalta, sekoittamalla jo tunnettuihin, traditionaalisiin kompositioihin uusilla merkityksillä varustettuja elementtejä, kuten tunnettujen henkilöiden muotokuvia ja uutislehtiä. Muutokset Collierin tyylissä heijastuvat ajan trendeistä, josta parhaimpana esimerkkinä ovat hänen 1690-luvun alun trompe l oeil -teokset. Teosten aiheissa näkyy hänen muuttonsa Lontooseen, sillä teoksiin ilmestyi runsaasti viittauksia englantilaiseen yhteiskuntaan. Collier sisällytti maalauksiinsa runsaasti erilaisia tekstejä, osia kirjoista, sanomalehdistä ja parlamentin puheista, jotka yhdessä muodostavat lainauksien ja kommenttien verkoston milloin taiteesta, uskonnosta tai politiikasta. Collier kohotti omaa taiteellista statustaan sekä esittämällä itsensä oppineena taiteilijana että signeeraamalla teoksensa monin erikoisin tavoin, muun muassa upottamalla nimensä kuvattuihin objekteihin, kuten kirjeisiin vastaanottajaksi tai almanakkoihin omistajaksi. Omakuvissa hän esittää itsensä mainosluontoisesti asetelmamaalarina. Collier maalasi myös muita merkkihenkilöitä kuva-kuvassa tekniikalla, esittämällä heidät illusionistisesti piirroksina, etsauksina, tai miniatyyreinä, esineinä muiden asetelmassa esitettyjen objektien joukossa. Kuvatuista tunnetuimpia ovat Kaarle I ja Erasmus Rotterdamilainen. Tällä tavoin Collier painotti kuvattujen henkilöiden ideologiaa tai yhteiskunnallista asemaa ja kohtaloa, joka samalla osoitti hänen itsensä olevan tietoisesti maalaava, sivistynyt taiteilija. Näin hän myös asetti itsensä kuvataiteiden kaanoniin, jonka paremmuudesta sisartaiteiden joukossa käytiin keskustelua edelleen 1600-luvulla. Tämä tutkimus todistaa Collierin olleen aikaansa seuraava ja muuntumiskykyinen taiteilija, joka vangitsi useita oman aikansa ilmiöitä asetelmiinsa. Hänen maalauksensa olivat suosittuja ostajien parissa, koska hän yhdisti traditionaalisiin teoksiin helposti tunnistettavia historiallisia tai oman aikansa yhteiskunnallisia merkityksiä kekseliäissä yksityiskohdissa.

Poverty monitoring in Mozambique primarily takes place within the framework of the implementation of Mozambique’s Poverty Reduction Strategy (PARPA), and is informed by quantitative data derived from different types of national surveys and similar types of studies done by aid organisations. However, by their quantitative nature such surveys do not capture all the dimensions of poverty that are relevant to the design of policies and programmes. While quantitative data yield valuable information about the mapping and profile of poverty over space and time, qualitative data are necessary in order to better understand the dynamics of poverty and the coping strategies of the poor. Against this background, the Swedish International Development Authority (SIDA) has decided that there is a need to assess the impact of development and poverty reduction policies ‘from below’, and to regularly consult local populations in order to understand local processes and relationships. A series of five “Reality Checks” will take place in the period 2011-2016 focussing on the dynamics of poverty and well-being, with a particular focus on good governance, agriculture/climate and energy that are key sectors in Swedish development cooperation with Mozambique. More concretely, the “Reality Checks in Mozambique” are expected to: i) Inform the public discussion among key development actors on poverty reduction, especially in the province of Niassa; ii) contribute to a better understanding of qualitative poverty monitoring methods in Mozambique; and iii) provide Sweden with relevant qualitative data on developments and results from its engagement in Mozambique and support further implementation of its programme in Niassa. This is the third and final report in the series “Gender Policies and Feminisation of Poverty in Mozambique”, revealing a curious incongruity between often broad and sweeping statements about gender inequality and the great variation and complexity in the lives of real men and women. The province of Gaza, which is the focus of this report, has seen profound socio-economic change, including an extensive male labour migration, a commodification and ‘feminisation’ of agriculture; and a very high HIV/AIDS infection rate. Important implications of these developments have been a very large proportion of female headed households; a high level of female participation in agriculture and the informal economy; and near gender equality in education enrolment. In fact, the main gender disparities in Gaza primarily seem to be related class, with poor women without economic independence being susceptible to continued control under the patrilineal system and patriarchal ideolog

This is the second report in the series ‘Gender Policies and Feminisation of Poverty in Mozambique’. While the first report went through existing quantitative data on the national level, this report focuses on the social relations and cultural perception of gender in the rural district of Mossuril and the city of Nampula in the northern province of Nampula. Structural changes and more limited patriarchal control in urban Nampula have opened up opportunities for women that they do not have in rural Mossuril – where they remain generally disadvantaged and with few options for social mobility. Urban women and female headed households are more likely to be economically independent from men and invest in the well-being of their household members.

This study is the first in a series of three on gender policies and feminisation of poverty in Mozambique, to be carried out in the period 2008-2010. The studies combine a critical assessment of current government and donor policies, with an assessment of the thesis of a feminisation of poverty in the country. Our main argument in this report is that the recent ‘streamlining’ or ‘essentialisation’ of gender policies, largely pushed by international agendas, implies the risk of designing policies that do not relate to national economic and socio-cultural realities. Gender relations are essentially socially constituted, and will be perceived differently and have different expressions in different socio-cultural settings. Moreover, while differences in material conditions of income and assets between men and women is an important part of the ongoing feminisation of poverty in Mozambique, it also involves questions around voicelessness and powerlessness in relation to institutions of society and the state, vulnerability to adverse shocks, and the ability to cope with these through social relationships and legal institutions.

Tämä pro gradu -tutkielma käsittelee deiktisten ilmaisujen käyttöä ja niiden funktioita lehtitekstissä. Ison suomen kieliopin (2004:1363) mukaan deiksis on nimitys sellaisten sanojen ja kieliopillisten ainesten viittaavalle tehtävälle, jotka suhteuttavat ilmauksen puhehetken kontekstiin. Deiksikseen kuuluvat persoonadeiksis eli persoonapronominit, demonstratiivideiksis eli demonstratiivipronomit sekä temporaalinen ja spatiaalinen deiksis eli kulloisenkin puhetilanteen perusteella määrittyvät ajan ja paikan ilmaukset kuten huomenna ja täällä. Teoreettisena kehyksenä on pääasiallisesti Emile Benvenisten teoria deiksiksestä. Lisäksi muun muassa Anne Reboulin & Jacques Moeschlerin, Jean-Michel Gouvardin ja Michel Charolles’in teokset ovat olleet avuksi aineiston analyysissä. Korpus koostuu L’Expressin verkkoversiossa, Le Monden verkkoversiossa ja Aamulehdessä julkaistuista teksteistä. Tutkielmassani vertaan suomen ja ranskan temporaalideiksistä. Tuloksena korpuksen perusteella on, että ranskan kielessä temporaaliadverbien käyttö määräytyy selkeämmin verbin aikamuodon mukaan, esimerkiksi passé simplen kanssa sopivat vain tietyt adverbit. Suomen kielessä järjestelmä on joustavampi ja adverbin valinta riippuu ennen kaikkea kontekstista. Korpuksen perusteella totesin myös, että spatiaaliadverbeja, esimerkiksi voilà ja ici voidaan käyttää sekä konkreettisessa että abstraktissa merkityksessä. Deiktisten elementtien käytössä on havaittavissa merkityksen liukumia: Ilmaisun alkuperäinen deiktinen funktio hälventyy kun deiktistä elementtiä käytetään artikkelin tilalla tai metaforisesti. Eräs Benvenisten deiksisteorian pääkäsite on ”kolmas persoona” (troisième personne). Tutkielmassa käsittelen ranskan kielen on-pronominia Benvenisten teorian valossa. Korpuksesta kävi ilmi, että on ei ole osa kolmatta persoonaa Benvenisten tarkoittamassa mielessä, sillä sitä voidaan käyttää myös je- tai nous-pronominin asemesta. Näennäisesti passiivirakenteinen on voi olla myös toimittajan peiteasuna hänen esittäessään omia mielipiteitään. Tutkielman kohdealueita ovat myös ensyklopedinen deiksis, deiktiset ilmaisut ja niiden funktiot toimittajan käyttämissä sitaateissa sekä deiktisten elementtien avulla ilmaistu intertekstuaalisuus. Tutkin myös toimittajan tapaa käyttää deiktisiä ilmaisuja omien mielipiteidensä tai esimerkiksi ironian ilmaisemiseen ja toimittajan muita tapoja olla läsnä tekstissään. Pro gradu-tutkielman aiheena on tamperelaisen Setlementtiyhdistys Naapuri ry:n Pipo-projekti. Pipo-projekti on Naapurin, Tampereen kaupungin sosiaalitoimen, Ra-holan perhetukikeskuksen ja Tesoman koulun yhteinen hanke, jonka tarkoituksena on tukea moniongelmaisia perheitä ja ehkäistä näiden perheiden ajautuminen ää-rimmäisten lastensuojelutoimien kohteiksi. Projektissa on mukana kuusi perhettä ja sen toimintamuotoja ovat yhdessä tekeminen, leirit, vanhempien keskusteluryhmät, retket, yökylätoiminta, kerhot, kurssit, avotyö, erilaiset tapahtumat sekä vertaisapu. Tutkimuksen kohteena ovat Pipo-projektin työntekijöiden, yhteistyökumppanien ja projektin perheiden vanhempien käsitykset Pipo-projektin tavoitteista ja hyödyllisyy-destä sekä projektin eri yhteistyötahojen työnjaosta Pipo-projektissa. Tarkoituksena on saada mahdollisimman monipuolinen kuva Pipo-projektin toiminnasta, tarkoituk-sesta ja onnistuneisuudesta siinä mukana olevien ihmisten näkökulmasta. Tutkimus on laadullinen etnografinen tutkimus. Tutkimuksen teoreettinen viitekehys on sosiaalipedagoginen ja sen keskeiset käsitteet ovat sosiaalipedagoginen elä-mänhallinta ja syrjäytyminen. Tutkimusaineistona on käytetty Setlementtiyhdistys Naapurin dokumentteja, kyselylomaketta sekä puolistrukturoituja haastatteluja. Haastateltu on kymmentä Pipo-projektin työntekijää / yhteistyökumppania sekä kol-mea Pipo-projektin perheen vanhempaa. Kyselylomaketta on käytetty yhden van-hemman kohdalla. Haastatteluaineiston analysointitapana on käytetty teemoittelua. Tutkimusaineistomme perusteella Pipo-projektin tavoitteet ovat selkeät ja projektin osallisten tiedossa. Pipo-projektin työntekijöiden ja yhteistyökumppanien mukaan tavoitteista osa on toteutunut, osa ei, joten projektin toiminnassa on vielä kehittämi-sen varaa. Toisaalta projektin on nähty edistyneen alkuajoista, esimerkiksi sen toi-mintamuodot ovat kehittyneet ja perheet ovat tulleet aktiivisemmiksi. Vanhempien mukaan projektin tavoitteet ovat toteutuneet ja he ovat olleet tyytyväisiä projektin toimintaan. Sekä vanhempien että työntekijöiden ja yhteistyökumppanien mukaan projektista on ollut perheille hyötyä. Työntekijöiden ja yhteistyökumppanien mukaan Pipon eri yhteistyötahojen rooleissa on hieman epäselvyyttä, mutta yhteistyön eri tahojen välillä sanotaan kuitenkin toimivan. Pipo-projekti on hyvin toimiva ja sen mallille olisi varmasti käyttöä muuallakin Suo-messa. Vanhempien tyytyväisyys on selkeä osoitus projektin toimivuudesta, mutta vielä paremman onnistuneisuuden saavuttamiseksi projektin eri tahojen roolien tulisi olla selkeämmät. Pipon toiminnassa voidaan nähdä sosiaalipedagogisia piirteitä, mutta koska Naapurin toimintamalli perustuu sosiaalipedagogiseen ajattelutapaan, tulisi sosiaalipedagogisuuden olla entistä tiedostetumpaa myös Pipo-projektissa. 1. This book is a handbook for everyone who is interested in museums and the wider cultural and cultural heritage debates. In the spirit of lifelong learning, it aims to connect the humanistic discipline of museum studies with the wider context of society. Museums possess power as safekeepers of our memories. This book will, in its own small way, take part in the discussion of making our past and future memories matter, to show how important it is for us to understand our past. In our contemporary culture it often seems that no time is allowed for this kind of understanding; the constant flow of issues and “must dos” often hinders us from seeing the connections between our past and present. In this turmoil, things in the past can too easily be regarded as non-urgent and less important. We, the editors, wish to shed light on why museums matter; we believe that it is important to launch a book that is directed both to readers within the arts and cultural heritage sector and readers outside of it. It is clear that readers within the sector tend to agree with one another on the major cultural issues. For these readers, our book offers up-to-date knowledge on the latest developments that have taken place in Finland. It is as important to make these issues visible to readers who situate themselves outside the sector and to connect these issues with the wider context of society. The knowhow of cultural heritage disciplines will aid in understanding the changes we are facing in the 21st century and help give them perspective. Museum Studies – Bridging Theory and Practice is an edited collection of 27 chapters by leading scholars and practitioners, most of whom work in Finland. The book will, for the first time, give a concise presentation of current research and practice in Finnish museum studies to a wider international audience, as well as to students and museum professionals in the field in Finland. The book combines current theoretical and practical approaches to museum studies, thus making it the first English-language handbook of Finnish museology.

My chapter describes the history of Finnish museology. I use an archival approach to show how museology became a university discipline, as well as to show the efforts made to enhance professionalism in this area. Museology is a young science in Finland, and its development stems from a knowledge of collection care. Museums are one source of leisure, with visits forming activities for local community members in their free time, as well as touristic attractions for visitors on vacation. For many people, museums are also a source of knowledge and they perceive them to be an authority from which they expect to receive verified information. This can take place for example through organized school and college visits, visits made in free time or through participation in museum-led projects and events. Therefore the decisions that museums make about how to present history, and what (or more importantly whose) history they present – and what strategies they employ to present this history – have the potential to inform and influence perspectives on the past in the present. When this contains difficult memories connected to warfare, atrocities or discrimination and oppression based on ethnicity, gender or anything else, museums have to be especially mindful of how they treat and present these topics. In this chapter, I explore some of the frameworks informing representation in museums and use case studies from within Finland and from elsewhere. I investigate some of the ethical questions that emerge around the politics of representation. While there are no hard and fast answers to how museums should engage with difficult and painful history, I suggest reflection upon the impacts of challenging public perceptions through innovative approaches to museum display. These themes also intersect with the wider question of the social responsibility of museums.

In this chapter, I discuss corporate art collections as part of national cultural heritage and semi-public collections. Corporate art is seen through the lenses of collecting, various professions and corporate social responsibility (CSR). I highlight the motives and the meanings of visual art in the context of business and practices of collection development, with the similarities and differences to museums and the museum profession. The essence of corporate art collecting is connected with business objectives, and thus this field of collecting differs in many ways from the objectives of museum collections and ethics. The main motives for corporate art collecting are aesthetics, well-being, CSR, corporate image and branding. Professionalisation of Finnish corporate art took place during the 2000s, but it is not as widespread as it is in large companies in North America and Central Europe. Art-field professionalism generally indicates an increased focus on clarifying collecting polices, questions of displaying art and audience engagement. Sometimes a semi-public collection becomes public. Collaboration between profit-making companies and museums is also discussed. In Finland the public sector is still the main patron of the arts, and corporate art collecting and partnership deals with museums are supplementary means of financing of culture.
