Abstract

Existing parking recommendation solutions mainly focus on finding and suggesting parking spaces based on the unoccupied options only. However, there are other factors associated with parking spaces that can influence someone's choice of parking such as fare, parking rule, walking distance to destination, travel time, likelihood to be unoccupied at a given time. More importantly, these factors may change over time and conflict with each other which makes the recommendations produced by current parking recommender systems ineffective. In this paper, we propose a novel problem called multi-objective parking recommendation. We present a solution by designing a multi-objective parking recommendation engine called MoParkeR that considers various conflicting factors together. Specifically, we utilise a non-dominated sorting technique to calculate a set of Pareto-optimal solutions, consisting of recommended trade-off parking spots. We conduct extensive experiments using two real-world datasets to show the applicability of our multi-objective recommendation methodology., Comment: 6 pages, 5 figures

Abstract

A total of (100) specimens were collected from patients with urinary tract infections (UTIs), from october 2020 to January 2021. Methodology: Colonial mOrpholpgy, microscopic analysis, biochemical tests and the Vitek-2 system were based on the identification 0f bacterial isolatesTissue Culture Plate Recognition of Biofilm (TCP) and Congo Red Agar (CRA) and Tube Process (TM). Finally, recognition 0f biofilm genes was used such as (ChuA, TspE4C2 and YjaA gene). The outcomes are determined by morphological, environmental, and biochemical characteristics. From the 100 clinical specimen only 70(70%) specimen gave growth bacteria, and the other 30(30%) specimens were not growth and Candida spp growth and mix growth. From the 70 clinical specimen 0nly 31(44.3%) isolates were belonged to Eschrechia.coli, 12(17.1%) isolates were Klebsella pneumonia. out of the 70 specimens, only 6(8.6%) isolates belong to Psudomonas aeruginosa, 10(14.3%), 9 (12.8%) and 2(2.9%) isolates were Proteus marbilis, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus fecalis, respectively. Abstract

Microfluidic technology, also known as lab-on-a-chip, enables the fabrication of low-cost, user-friendly, and portable detection devices. Microfluidic chips can be utilized for detecting biological and chemical analytes in various liquid samples, including water or biofluids such as urine, blood, and sweat. The specific and quantitative detection of ions has garnered increased attention in recent years due to their potential harm to environmental and human health. Inorganic ions are special chemicals that hold positive or negative charges with relatively small molecular weights. Among the various types of microfluidic platforms, paper-based systems are favored as simple analytical tools that rely on the generation of hydrophilic–hydrophobic contrast on filter paper. In this study, a paper-based microfluidic device was developed as an analytical tool for quantifying several ions, such as iron (Fe3+). The reaction spot was created by simply melting a wax crayon to form hydrophobic barriers that define hydrophilic zones. After spotting Fe3+ samples and potassium thiocyanate (KSCN) as a detection reagent on the reaction zone, an immediate and obvious color change was observed with different ion concentrations ranging between 50 and 500 ppm. While the naked-eye detection of color change was easy at high concentrations, quantifying ion concentrations in samples required the use of a smartphone camera. The captured images were then analyzed using ImageJ software (Java 1.8.0-internal (32-bit)). The developed paper-based microfluidic device exhibited good performance in quantifying Fe3+ ions in samples. Abstract

The Dynamic Vehicle Routing Problem (DVRP) is a complex variation of classical Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP). The aim of DVRP is to find a set of routes to serve multiple customers at minimal total travelling cost while the travelling time between point to point may vary during the process because of factors like traffic congestion. To effectively handle DVRP, a good algorithm should be able to adjust itself to the changes and continuously search for the best solution under dynamic environments. Because of this dynamic nature of DVRP, evolutionary algorithms (EAs) appear highly appropriate for DVRP as they search in a parallel manner with a population of solutions. Solutions scattered over the search space can better capture the dynamic changes. Solutions for new changes are not built from scratch as they can inherit problem-specific knowledge from parent solutions. However, the performance of EA is highly dependent on the utilised configuration. To address this issue, we propose a self-adaptive EA for DVRP. The proposed EA evolves a set of configurations including parameter values, operator types, combination of operators and order of operator invocation. The configurations are then encoded into DVRP solutions. So the search can use different configuration during a search process to effectively handle the dynamic changes and guide the search process towards promising areas. Two well known routing problems with traffic congestion, vehicle routing and the travelling salesman, were used to evaluate the performance of the proposed EA. The results demonstrate that under same conditions on both problems the proposed self-adaptive EA is better than standard EA and other algorithms from literature.

Abstract

It is known that neighbourhood structures affect search performance. In this study we analyse a series of neighbourhood structures to facilitate the search. The well known steepest descent (SD) local search algorithm is used in this study as it is parameter free. The search problem used is the Google Machine Reassignment Problem (GMRP). GMRP is a recent real world problem proposed at ROADEF/EURO challenge 2012 competition. It consists in reassigning a set of services into a set of machines for which the aim is to improve the machine usage while satisfying numerous constraints. In this paper, the effectiveness of three neighbourhood structures and their combinations are evaluated on GMRP instances, which are very diverse in terms of number of processes, resources and machines. The results show that neighbourhood structure does have impact on search performance. A combined neighbourhood structures with SD can achieve results better than SD with single neighbourhood structure.
