Bu çalışmada fraktal yapıların iç içe kullanılması ile ilk olarak elde edilen birim hücrelerin faz cevaplarının artırılması hedeflenmiştir. Daha sonra bu elde edilen birim hücrelerinin yansıtıcı dizi anten üzerinde yansıtıcı eleman olarak kullanılması ile anten kazancı üzerine etkisi incelenmektedir. Bunun için daire, daire içerisinde kullanılan minkowski ve daire içerisindeki minkowski yapısının döndürülmesi ile elde edilen birim hücreler olmak üzere 3 farklı yapı tasarlanmaktadır. İlk tasarlanan yapının faz cevabı tüm bir band boyunca faz gereksimini karşılayamayarak 280 derecelik bir faz cevabı elde edilmiştir. Daha sonra ikinci aşama da tasarlanan daire içerisinde minkowski yapısı tasarlanmış bu yapı da 329 derecelik bir faz cevabı elde edilmiştir. Son olarak daire içerisinde 0-30 derece arasında minkowski yapısı döndürülerek tüm faz cevabını karşılayabilecek bir yapı elde edilmiştir. Elde edilen geniş faz cevabına sahip birim hücre ve 11.7 dBi’lık bir horn anten ile yansıtıcı dizi anten tasarlanmıştır. Tasarlanan yansıtıcı dizi antenin kazancı, horn antene göre 91% artarak 22.4 dBi olarak elde edilmiştir. Bu sonuç ile fraktal yapıların iç içe kullanılması ve özellikle yapıların döndürülmesi ile faz cevabının arttırılabildiği ve bu metodla geniş band faz cevabına sahip, yüksek kazançlı yansıtıcı dizi antenler tasarlanabileceği ortaya konulmuştur., In this study, it is aimed to increase the phase responses of the obtained unit cells by using the fractal structures nested together. Then, the effect of these obtained broad phase-response unit cells on the antenna gain is examined by using them as reflective elements on the reflect array antenna. For this purpose, 3 different structures are designed: the circle, the Minkowski used in the circle, and the unit cells obtained by rotating the Minkowski structure in the circle. The phase response of the first designed circle structure could not meet the phase requirement for a whole band, and a phase response of 280 degree is obtained. Then, in the second stage, the Minkowski structure is designed in the designed circle, and a phase response of 329 degree is obtained in this structure. Finally, a structure sufficient for the entire phase response is obtained by rotating the Minkowski structure in the circle between 0-30 degree. A unit cell with a wide phase response and a 11.7 dBi horn antenna and reflect array antenna are designed. The gain of the designed reflect array antenna has increased by 91% compared to the horn antenna and has been obtained as 22.4 dBi. With this result, it has been revealed that the phase response can be increased by using fractal structures together and especially by rotating the structures, and with this method, high-gain reflect array antennas with broadband phase response can be designed.

The trend towards renewable energy sources has increasedas fossil fuels are harmfull for enviroment and have started to run out andtherefore the idea of using a lightning current, which is a major source ofenergy, has begun to be popular. The direct use of lightning energy has notbeen possible until now, but there are many ideas about the indirect use of thishigh energy. A method that is proposed for the use of lightning currentindirectly is to use the induced voltage around the strike location. As thelightning current generates an energy at the point it drops, there is also avoltage that this current induces in the conductors around it by coupling. In this study, a new method was developed foranalyzing the voltage that is induced by a lightning strike on a conductive rodand the energy distribution was simulated by the MATLAB simulation program.. Initially, common impedance of two conductors iscalculated and the distance between these conductors and the length of theconductors are taken at four different values to simulate the induced voltage. According to these simulation results, it is seen thatthe induced voltage value is inversely proportional to the distance between theconductors. Furthermore as a resultof the simulation, the induced voltage increases directly proportional to theheight of the second conductor., Fosil yakıtlarının çevreye verdiğizarar ve tükenmeye yüz tutmasıyla yenilenebilir enerji kaynaklarına yönelimartmıştır ve dolayısıyla büyük bir enerji kaynağı olan yıldırım akımınınkullanılması fikri de rağbet görmeye başlamıştır. Yıldırım enerjisinin direkolarak kullanılması şimdiye kadar mümkün olmamıştır fakat dolaylı olarakkullanımıyla ilgili çok sayıda fikir yürütülmüştür. Yıldırım akımının dolaylıolarak kullanımıyla ilgili olarak ileri sürülen bir yöntemde indüklenmeyleçevresinde oluşan gerilimin kullanılmasıdır. Yıldırım akımı düştüğü noktada birenerji ürettiğinden, bu akımın kuplaj yoluyla çevresindeki iletkenlerdeindüklediği bir voltaj vardır. Bu çalışmada bir iletkene yıldırım düşmesiyleyakınındaki yere dik duran başka bir iletkende indüklediği gerilimin analiziiçin yeni bir yöntem geliştirilmiş ve MATLAB benzetim programı yardımıylaenerji dağılımının benzetimi yapılmıştır. Öncelikle iki iletkenin ortakempedans hesabı yapılmış ve daha sonra bu iletkenlerin arasındaki uzaklık veiletkenlerin boyu üç farklı değerde alınarak indüklenen gerilimin benzetimiyapılmıştır. Bu benzetim sonuçlarına göre iletkenlerin birbirine olan mesafesiile ters orantılı olarak indüklenen gerilim değerinin değiştiği görülmüştür.Ayrıca ikinci iletkenin yüksekliği ile doğru orantılı olarak indüklenengerilimin arttığı benzetim sonucunda görülmüştür.

Yankı odaları, geniş çalışma hacimleriyle ön uyumluluk test aşamasında sonuca ilişkin yüksek yaklaşıklıkla cevap verebilmektedirler. Bu odalar, tam yansımasız test ortamlarına nispeten düşük kurulum maliyetleri nedeniyle alternatif olarak görülen elektromanyetik ölçüm test ortamlarıdır. Temel çalışma prensibi, oda içerisine yerleştirilen ve ayna görevi yapan yansıtıcı/karıştırıcı elemanlar ve yüksek iletkenliğe sahip oda duvarları aracılığı ile geniş bir hacimde elektrik alan bileşenlerinin oda içerisinde yayılıp alan bileşenlerinin birbirini sönümlemesiyle test ortamı içerisinde elektrik alan düzgünlüğünü garanti etmektir.Bu tez çalışmasında yankı odası içerisinde 6 farklı parametrenin (karıştırıcı konumu, yüksekliği, boyutu, şekli, oda boyutları, verici anteni konumu) elektrik alan düzgünlüğüne etkisi incelenmiş ve yankı odası içerisindeki elektrik alan seviyesinin verici antenin konumuna bağlı olarak belirlenmesi için veri madenciliği ile bir model önerisinde bulunulmuştur. Buna göre karıştırıcının oda içerisine eklenmeden elektrik alan düzgünlüğünün sağlanamayacağı görülmüştür. Karıştırıcının ve verici antenin konumunun standartlar tarafından önerilen limitlerin sağlanması noktasından hayati bir öneme sahip olduğu ve karıştırıcı yüksekliğinin ve oda boyutlarının elektrik alan düzgünlüğüne çok az bir etkisi olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Karıştırıcı boyutu ve şeklinin oda içerisindeki elektrik alan düzgünlüğüne ise ciddi bir etkisi olduğu ortaya konulmuştur. Ayrıca önerilen veri madenciliği metodu ile oda içerisindeki elektrik alan seviyesinin R=0,96 başarı oranı ile klasik benzetim metoduna göre çok daha kısa bir sürede yapılabileceği belirlenmiştir. Reverberation Chambers are able to respond with high approximation in the preliminary compatibility test stage with large working volumes. These chambers are electromagnetic measurement test environments, which are seen as alternative because of relatively low installation costs for anechoic chambers. The basic operating principle is to guarantee the electric field uniformity in the test environment by propagation of electric field components and fading each other with reflective stirrer placed inside the room and the high-conductivity chamber walls.In this thesis, the effect of 6 different parameters (stirrer location, height, size, shape, room dimensions, transmit antenna location) on electric field uniformity in the reverberation chamber is investigated and a model with data mining for determining the electric field level in the reverberation chamber depending on the location of the transmit antenna. Accordingly, it is seen that the electric field uniformity could not be achieved without placing the stirrer into the room. It has been concluded that the location of the stirrer and the transmitting antenna is of vital importance from the point of providing the limits recommended by the standards, and that the stirrer height and room dimensions have little effect on the electric field uniformity. It has been shown that the stirrer size and shape have a serious effect on the electric field uniformity in the chamber. In addition, it has been determined that the level of electric field in the reverberation chamber can be performed in a much shorter time compared to the classical simulation method with a success of R=0,96 ratio in the chamber with the proposed data mining method. 134

In this study, an offset horn feed parabolic reflector antenna operating at 29.75 GHz Ka bandtransmitter frequency, is designed, simulated and the directivity radiation pattern is plotted. Then an omegametamaterial (MM) lens layer is designed to show double negative (DNG) characteristic in the samefrequency range and used inside the horn antenna and the far field radiation pattern was replotted. Accordingto the simulation results, when the MM lens is used, an increase of +3.7 dB in the directivity and a 4.3 °decrease in the HPBW of the feed horn antenna, is observed.

This study proposes a novel double negative (DNG) metamaterial superstate to improve thedirectivity of the microstrip patch antenna (MPA) in Ku Band (12 GHz). For this enhancement, initially amicrostrip patch antenna operating at 12 GHz is designed and simulated by CST MWS program. Then anew DNG metamaterial unit cell is designed. In order to increase the total capacitive and inductive effectsin this structure and to tune the structure as DNG at the desired frequency band a few experiments are carriedout. Then this unit cell is converted into a 2x2 periodic planar structure and placed in front of the referenceMPA as a lens. It is observed that the directivity of MPA increased 2.46 dB by utilizing this DNGsuperstrate.

The reverberation chambers, which are electromagnetic test structures are alternative to theanechoic chambers because of the installation cost is much lower than the anechoic chamber. In orderfor a room to be reverberation chamber, the level of the electric field must be determined and electricfield uniformity must be provided in the room. In order to have a uniform electric field in the room, thestandard deviation of the maximum electric fields must be 4dB between 80 MHz and 100MHz, linearlydecrease from 4dB to 3dB from 100MHz to 400MHz, and below 3dB above 400MHz. Obtaining theelectric field uniformity depends on the parameters such as the placement of the stirrer in the room andthe stirrer position and size, transmitter antenna position, room dimensions. In this study, the effect ofthe placement of the stirrer in the room was examined for the uniformity of the electric field, and as aresult of the simulation performed, it was seen that the stirrer contributed significantly to the uniformityof the electric field.

The reverberation chamber is a test environment that is constructed as an alternative to a fullyreflective or semi-reflective room, coated with internal and external materials with high conductivity, and hasa homogeneous electric field structure limited by certain standards. The biggest advantage is that theinstallation costs are much lower than the full non-reflective room. It is necessary to obtain uniformity ofelectric field in the room so that a room can be a reverberation chamber. A reverberation chamber basicallycontains a few components such as stirrer, transmitter antenna and receiver antenna. According to theoptimization of the components, the uniformity of the electric field inside the room can be provided. Theparameters such as position, shape, size, angle of the stirrer which is one of the most important elements in thechamber, affect the uniformity of the electric field. In this study, the effect of the stirrer shape on the electricfield uniformity was investigated and the results were compared.

Reverberation chambers arenew and effective test environments used in recent years for electromagneticcompatibility testing because of their relatively cheap realization. These chambersare seen as an alternative to fully non-reflective testing environments in thePre-Compatibility testing stages (due to the high approximation of the result). Reverberation chamber testing environments have a muchcheaper installation cost than the full-reflective rooms despite the size oftheir working volumes. In this study, a reverberation chamber with realdimensions is designed with the help of electromagnetic simulation program. Theeffect of the stirrer and the stirrer location in the room was investigated byadding the stirrer to this reverberation chamber. According to the observedresults, the effect of the addition of stirrer in the room over the standarddeviation of the electric fields, ie the electric field uniformity, is averagely1 dB. In addition, although the stirrer location in the room had little effecton the electric field uniformity, It has been observed that the determinationof the stirrer location has a significant effect to obtain the limits proposedby the International Electrotechnical Commission standard (IEC 61000-4-21)., Yansımalı odalar göreceçok ucuza gerçeklenebilmeleri nedeni ile son yıllarda elektromanyetik uyumluluktestleri için kullanılan yeni ve etkili bir test ortamıdır. Ön uyumluluk testaşamalarında (sonuca ilişkin yüksek yaklaşıklıkta cevap vermeleri nedeni ile) tamyansımasız test ortamları için bir alternatif olarak görülmektedir. Yansımalıoda test ortamları, çalışma hacimlerinin büyüklüğüne rağmen tam yansımasız odalaragöre çok daha ucuz kurulum maliyetine sahiptir. Bu çalışmada, elektromanyetik benzetimprogramı yardımıyla gerçek boyutlarda bir yansımalı oda tasarlanmıştır. Dahasonra tasarlanan bu yansımalı oda içerisine karıştırıcı eklenerek bukarıştırıcının ve karıştırıcının oda içerisindeki konumunun alan düzgünlüğüneolan etkisi incelenmiştir. Gözlemlenen sonuçlara göre oda içerisine karıştırıcıeklenmesinin elektrik alanların standart sapmasına yani elektrik alan düzgünlüğüneolan etkisi ortalama 1 dB’dir. Bunun yanında oda içerisindeki karıştırıcıkonumun elektrik alan düzgünlüğüne oldukça az bir etkisi olmasına rağmen UluslararasıElektroteknik Komisyon standartının(IEC 61000-4-21) önerdiği limitleri eldeetmek için karıştırıcı konumun belirlenmesinin önemli ölçüde bir etkiye sahipolduğu gözlemlenmiştir.

This paper proposes improving the directivity of microstrip patch antennas (MPAs) by using metamaterials. Four different metamaterial types are used as a flat lens in front of the MPA, respectively, which are tuned to 12 GHz (Ku-band) resonance frequency. Thus, it can be decided which metamaterial is more proper for antenna directivity enhancement at this band. One additional new metamaterial structure is proposed in this paper, which is called a Euro-shaped resonator, and other metamaterials used are the triangular split ring resonator, symmetrical ring structure, and split ring resonator. The permeability and permittivity of metamaterials are extracted from the S parameters by using a robust method. Microwave Studio by Computer Simulation Technology is used for modeling and simulation. The MPA and metamaterials are fabricated, and measurements are performed in the Y{\i}ld{\i}z Technical University RF and Microwave Laboratory. It is observed that measured results are in close agreement with the computer simulations.

Antennas are circuit elements used to radiate electromagnetic waves and by capturing them convert incident electromagnetic waves into electrical signals. Antenna gain, resonant frequency, bandwidth and directivity are among the most important parameters in the antenna design. In this study, to determining the resonant frequency of H-shaped compact microstrip antennas designed for 1-3 GHz frequency band, depending on the antenna size, a method has been proposed by Invasive Weed algorithm (IWO). IWO is a optimization algorithm which has been developed inspired by invasive and resistant structures of invasive weeds. In the study, 190 having different sizes and different electrical parameters H-shaped compact microstrip antenna resonance frequency based on the empirical formula resonance frequency is optimized by IWO. Then these results can be tested by an simulation software the success of proposed method was tested. To work in the desired resonant frequency of the H shaped microstrip antenna, what would be the size by the help of IWO, have been obtained with 0.4% margin of error and the effect of IWO in determining the resonant frequency of H shaped microstrip antenna has been demonstrated, Antenler elektromanyetik dalgaları yaymak ve gelen elektromanyetik dalgaları yakalayarak elektriksel sinyallere dönüştürmek için kullanılan devre elemanlarıdır. Bu çalışmada 1-3 GHz frekans bandı için tasarlanmış H şekilli kompakt mikroşerit antenlerin rezonans frekansının belirlenmesinde anten boyutlarına bağlı olarak Yabani Ot Algoritması (YOA) ile bir yöntem önerilmiştir. YOA, yabani otların istilacı ve dirençli yapılarından esinlenerek geliştirilmiş bir optimizasyon algoritmasıdır. Çalışmada, 190 adet faklı boyutlarda ve farklı elektriksel parametrelere sahip H şekilli kompakt mikroşerit antenlerin rezonans frekansı YOA ile amprik rezonans frekansı formülüne dayanarak optimize edilmiştir. Daha sonra bu sonuçlar bir simülasyon programı ile test edilerek önerilen yöntemin başarısı test edilmiştir. H şekilli mikroşerit antenin istenilen rezonans frekansında çalışması için boyutlarının ne olacağı YOA yardımı ile % .4’lük yanılma payı ile elde edilmiş ve YOA’nın H şekilli mikroşerit antenin rezonans frekansının belirlenmesindeki etkisi ortaya konulmuştur

Petrol rezervlerinin azalması ve global ısınmanın artması, ulaşım için gerekli olan enerjinin üretimi için başka kaynaklardan yararlanmayı ve yeni çözümler aramayı teşvik etmektedir. Yakıt hücresi(YH) sistemleri, taşıt enerji sistemleri için yenilenebilir enerji kullanması ve çevreye dost olması sebebiyle, uygun bir çözüm olduğu düşünülmektedir. Ancak araç tahriki için, YH sistemi tek başına kullanılması, bütün yük taleplerini özellikle yüksek güç taleplerini karşılamak noktasında yeterli olmayabilir. Ayrıca tek başına YH kullanımı, sistemin hacim ve maliyetini arttıracaktır. Ek olarak, YH sistemi, bir yenilenebilir enerji kaynağı olan frenleme enerjisinin geri kazanımı yeteneğine sahip değildir. Dahası YH'nin anlık aşırı yük talebi esnasında tek başına kullanılması, YH'nin en önemli alt elemanı olan membranda nemlenme eksikliği veya aşırı nemlenmeye neden olmaktadır. Bu problemleri çözmek için, YH sisteminin, çabuk şarj olma ve yüksek güç yoğunluğu özelliklerine sahip bir enerji depolama sistemiyle beraber hibrit olarak kullanılması gerekmektedir. Ayrıca, bu sistemin bir kontrol metoduyla kontrolü, sistem performansını arttıracak ve enerji kazanımı sağlamış olacaktır.Bu tez, YH ve bir enerji depolama sisteminin hibrit olarak kullanımı ve en iyi verimi almak için bulanık mantık kontrol kullanılarak, sistemin optimizasyonunun sağlanmasını ele almaktadır. Enerji depolama sistemi için, yüksek güç yoğunluğuna sahip ve çabuk şarj olabilen ultrakapasitör (UK) sistemi ve kontrol metodu olarak bulanık mantık tercih edilmiştir. YH/UK hibrit sisteminin matematiksel modeli ve bilgisayar ortamında benzetimi yapılmış ve bulanık mantık kullanılarak sistemin optimizasyonu sağlanmıştır. Decline in petroleum reserves and increase in global warming encourage to benefit from other sources and seeking new solutions to produce transportation energy requirements. Fuel cell(FC) systems are expected to become an applicable solution for vehicular applications since they use renewable fuel and are environment friendly. However, using only a FC system for vehicle propulsion may not be sufficient to satisfy all the load demands, especially during high power demands. Besides, standalone using of FC system would increase the size and cost of the FC system. In addition, FC systems are not capable of recovering the braking energy that is renewable. Moreover, using FC system alone during high power demand may cause insufficient humidification or flooding problems in fuel cell membrane, which is the most important component of a FC system. To resolve these problems, FC must be used with a proper energy storage unit, which can be charged rapidly and has high power density. Also, a control method will increase system performance and provide energy gain.This thesis deals using FC and an energy storage unit together and providing optimization of system with a control method to obtain best efficiency. For energy storage system, ultracapacitor (UK) system was prefered that has high power density and can be charged rapidly and for the control method, fuzzy logic controller was prefered. The mathematical model and simulation of FC/UK was carried out on computer environment and the optimization of system was executed with fuzzy logic. 75
