The gravity data gatheredin and around the Simav Graben in Western Anatolia were reprocessed andreinterpreted by using the standard deviation fi lter and the Eulerdeconvolution. The joint evaluation of results from the interpretation ofgravity data and seismological studies indicates the presence of new intrusivestructures in the vicinity of Simav. The intrusion is located in the easternmargin of the graben and has a thickness of 12-15 km at 2.5-3 km depth belowthe surface. Numerous earthquakes recorded in the eastern part of the grabenare associated with this intrusion. Besides, the multidimensional modellingstudy of the gravity data allowed us to display the Simav Graben, the fold ofthe Simav Fault, the intrusion named as Naşa, and the epicenters of earthquakewithin the same tectonic frame. All tectonic structures were marked on thethree dimensional relief model.

In this study artificial neural network method was used to classify noisy components in the MT method data. For this purpose a multi-layered, feed-foorward and back propagation model was employed. Noisy time windows were determined to an accuracy of 89 % depending on the training data set. In addition, when all types of noise in the data are defined (synthetic data), all noisy time windows can be sellected and eliminated by artificial neural network method.Test results from synthetic and field data indicate that artificial neural network classification is succesfull in identifying and eliminating the noisy data windows compared to both visual inspection and conventional assessment methods, Bu çalışma kapsamında manyetotellürik yöntem verisindeki gürültü bileşenlerini sınıflamak için yapay sinir ağı yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Bu amaçla çok katmanlı, ileri beslemeli ve geri yayılımlı bir model oluşturulmuştur. Seçilen eğitim setine bağlı olarak gürültülü zaman pencereleri % 89 doğrulukla belirlenmiştir. Ayrıca verideki gürültü türlerinin hepsi tanımlandığında (yapay veri), tüm gürültülü pencereler yapay sinir ağı yöntemi ile seçilip elenebilmektedir.Yapay veri ve arazi verisi ile yapılan uygulamalar sonucunda, hem görsel denetlemeye hem de geleneksel değerlendirme yöntemlerine göre, gürültülü veri pencerelerini sınıflayıp elemede yapay sinir ağı yönteminin daha başarılı oldugu gösterilmiştir

Ters çözüm işlemi için seçilen görünür özdirenç tanımından hesaplanan kuramsal görünür özdirenç değerlerini, gözlemsel değerlere çakıştırma yolu ile katman parametreleri bulunabilir. Manyetotel ürik yönteminde, parametre ve veri arasındaki ilişkinin doğrusal olmaması nedeniyle işlemin doğrusalı astın İması gerekir. Görünür özdirenç bağıntısı, parametre uzayında ön kestirim civarında Taylor serisine açılır ve gözlem değerine eşitlenir. Taylor Ters çözüm serisinde ikinci ve daha yüksek dereceden türevleri kapsayan terimler ihmal edilip, kuramsal ve ölçülen verinin farkları alınarak bir dizey11 denklemi elde edilir. Dizeyin çözümünden fark değerleri küçülten yeni parametreler elde edilir. Yineleme işlemi, farkların önceden verilen değerin altına inmesi veya yeni parametre gurubunun farkları küçültememesi durumunda durdurulur. Dizey denklemi, tekil değer ayrışımı yöntemi ile çözülebilir. Yöntemde, dizey birbirine dik üç ayrı dizeyin çarpımı sekline dönüştürülebilir. Dik dizeylerden parametre özyöneyi parametreler arası ilişkileri, veri özyöneyi de bu parametreleri etkileyen veri noktalarını verir. Dizeylerin değerlendirme sırası, özdeğerlerin büyüklük sıralaması ile yapılır. Cagniard C19S3D ve Başokur C1993D tarafından verilen görünür özdirenç tanımları ile yapılan ters çözüm uygulamalarında dört temel eğri tipi CH, K, A, Q) denenmiştir. Çözümlerde, parametreler yerine eşdeğeri il iki erin çözülebildiği görülmüştür. Veriye eklenen gürültüler parametreler arası ilişkileri ve parametrelerin çözümlerini etkilemektedir. Çözümün başarısı kullanılan görünür özdirenç tanımının duyarlılığı ile yakından ilgilidir. Basokur tarafından verilen tanım, Cagniard görünür özdirenç tanımından daha duyarlı olduğundan elde edilen değerler gerçeğe daha yakındır. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Tuğrul BASOKUR The electrical section of the earth structure may be determined by calculating the resistivities and the thicknesses of the layers from the. magnetotelluric data. Many the apparent resistivity definitions can be created by using the frequency normalized impedance relation. The layer parameters can be solved by fitting the observed apparent resistivity data to the theoretical data calculated from one of apparent resistivity definitions selected for the inversion. In magnetotelluric method, the expressions needed to be lineerised because of the non-lineer dependency of the parameters to the data. The apparent resistivity equation has been expanded Taylor series around the initial guess in the parameters spaceIV and it has been equated observed values. Neglecting the second and higher order terms and taking the differences of the theorotical data and the measured data a matrix equation is obtained. New parameters which minimise the differences are computed by solving the matrix equation. The iterative adjustment of - the parameters is terminated when the differences become less than a predetermined value or any improvement is not obtained by trying new parameters. The matrix system can be solved by the singular value decomposition where matrix is decomposed into the multiplication of the three orthogonal matrices. These are the data eigen vectors, eigen values and parameter eigen vectors- The parameter eigen vectors provides the inter- relations of the parameters, data eigen vectors gives the data point effect these inter-relations. The eveluation of the matrices can be achived by using the sorted eigen values. Four basic curve types ( H, K, A, Q, ) are tried for the inversion of Cagniard and Basokur (1993) 's apparent resistivity definitions. In the conclusion, equivalances are obtained instead of parameters. The noise added data effect the inter-relations and the solution of the parameters. The success of the method depends on the apparent resistivity definition. The obtained values are much better in Basokur (1993) 's responsive apparent resistivity definition than Cagniard 's definition.
