This study investigated the effects of transplanted testicular stromal stem cells (tSSCs) on surgically damaged testis tissue. Ten‐week‐old male Wistar albino rats were divided into three groups: control (n = 6), damage (DG) (n = 6) and testicular stromal stem cell (TSSC) (n = 6) groups. Surgically induced damage was inflicted on the left testes of both the DG and TSSC groups, with no intervention on the right testes. In the TSSC group, damaged testes were treated with transplanted tSSCs, followed by orchiectomy after 15 days. Testes tissues were stained with haematoxylin–eosin (H&E), and recovery rates of functional structures were assessed by modified Johnsen scoring. The effects of tSSCs on testicular tissue were demonstrated by immunohistochemistry using BAX, BCL‐2 and caspase 3. Serum testosterone levels were analysed using the enzyme‐linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. Surgical damage caused germ cell degeneration in some seminiferous tubules and a decrease in interstitial areas. With tSSC treatment, improvements in testicular architecture were identified through spermatogenesis in the seminiferous tubules and normal histological structures in the interstitial areas. Correspondingly, in the modified Johnsen score, the DG group showed a significant difference compared to the other groups (p = 0.001). High expressions of BAX, BCL‐2 and caspase‐3 in the DG group revealed prominent features of apoptosis. With the injection of tSSCs, these expressions significantly normalized according to H score analysis (all p = 0.004). Although serum testosterone levels in the tSSC group were higher compared to the control and DG groups, this difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.119). This study suggests transplanting tSSCs could accelerate tissue healing after testicular sperm extraction (TESE) surgery for azoospermia patients, potentially paving the way for a new and important clinical treatment. Infectious spondylodiscitis is a life-threatening disease and has some challenges in terms of diagnostic, differentiative, and therapeutic processes. Therefore, rapid and effective management of infectious spondylodiscitis is necessary. Hematological inflammation indices (HIIs) such as the neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio and aggregate index of systemic inflammation are derived from blood cells and used as diagnostic, prognostic, predictive, and treatment monitoring indicators. This study aimed to evaluate HIIs for discriminating between infectious spondylodiscitis pathogens. This retrospective comparative study included 116 patients with infectious spondylodiscitis. According to the responsible infectious pathogens, three types of infectious spondylodiscitis were defined: Brucella (n = 51), pyogenic (n = 43), and tuberculous (n = 22). The HIIs were derived from baseline complete blood counts. The three types of infectious spondylodiscitis were statistically compared for the HII scores. We found that the Brucella group had significantly lower HII scores than the pyogenic group (p < 0.05). Also, the Brucella group had significantly lower HII scores than the tuberculous group (p < 0.05). However, no significant differences were found between the pyogenic and tuberculous groups regarding HIIs (p > 0.05). In conclusion, the HIIs may be considered in the differentiation between Brucella spondylodiscitis and other types of infectious spondylodiscitis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

E-commerce retailers are increasingly faced with challenges of finding ways to provide a seamless shopping experience to customers. The checkout process and its related touch points are especially critical in shaping the customer experience. We study the impact of adopting one-click buying, a feature that reduces the number of steps required to place a purchase order to a single click, on subsequent customer behavior. Using quasi-experimental data over a period of 35 months from an online retailer before and after the launch of one-click buying, we find adopting one-click buying is effective in lifting customer purchases and does so by making treated customers purchase more often and more items. The impact of adopting one-click buying on customer purchases after adoption is economically significant, persistent over time, and heterogeneous across customers. Analyzing clickstream data of customer activity online and purchases across product categories, we provide evidence that the increase in purchases is driven by richer engagement through both more visits to the website and more page views on visit and the expansion of purchases across categories. The mean follow-up was 3 +- 1.6 years (1--5 years). Although two patients had yolk-sac tumors, all patients are still alive. Introduction There has been a sudden idiopathic hearing loss case presented after methylphenidate treatment in a child with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Objective This study was performed to reveal the probable ototoxic side effects of methylphenidate use in patients with ADHD. Methods Thirty pediatric patients with ADHD were included in the study. Pure tone audiometry, speech discrimination scores, waves I, III, V absolute latencies and waves IIII, I-V, III-V interpeak latencies at the 80 dB nHL intensity after click stimulus auditory brainstem response (ABR) results were compared before and 3 months after methylphenidate treatment. Results There were no statistically significant difference between pretreatment and posttreatment pure tone and speech audiometry findings and ABR results (p > 0.05 for all parameters). Conclusion Methylphenidate can be regarded as a safe drug regarding ototoxic side effects. Additional studies with a larger sample size and longer follow-up may be needed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
