In this article, we study the asymptotic behaviour of the residual autocorrelations for periodic vector autoregressive time series models (PVAR henceforth) with uncorrelated but dependent innovations (i.e., weak PVAR). We then deduce the asymptotic distribution of the Ljung-Box-McLeod modified Portmanteau statistics for weak PVAR models. In Monte Carlo experiments, we illustrate that the proposed test statistics have reasonable finite sample performance. When the innovations exhibit conditional heteroscedasticity or other forms of dependence, it appears that the standard test statistics (under independent and identically distributed innovations) are generally nonreliable, overrejecting, or underrejecting severely, while the proposed test statistics offer satisfactory levels. An illustrative application on real data is also proposed.

This article develops the asymptotic distribution of the least squares estimator of the model parameters in periodicvector autoregressive time series models (hereafter PVAR) with uncorrelated but dependent innovations. When theinnovations are dependent, this asymptotic distributions can be quite different from that of PVAR models with in-dependent and identically distributed (iid for short) innovations developed in Ursu and Duchesne (2009). Modifiedversions of the Wald tests are proposed for testing linear restrictions on the parameters. These asymptotic results are illustrated by Monte Carlo experiments. An application to a bivariate real financial data is also proposed

In this paper, we give a complete, two-way characterization, of when a noncommutative crossed product $A \rtimes_\lambda G$ is simple, in the case of $G$ being an FC-hypercentral group. This is a large class of amenable groups that contains all virtually nilpotent groups, and in the finitely-generated setting, coincides with the set of groups which have polynomial growth. We further completely characterize the ideal intersection property under the assumption that the group is FC, meaning that every element has a finite conjugacy class. We characterise, in several complementary ways, \'etale groupoids with locally compact Hausdorff space of units whose essential groupoid C*-algebra has the ideal intersection property, assuming that the groupoid is topologically transitive and either Hausdorff or $\sigma$-compact. This leads directly to a characterisation of the simplicity of this C*-algebra which, for Hausdorff groupoids, agrees with the reduced groupoid C*-algebra. Specifically, we prove for topologically transitive groupoids that the ideal intersection property is equivalent to the absence of essentially confined amenable sections of isotropy groups. For topologically transitive groupoids with compact space of units we moreover show that this is equivalent to the uniqueness of equivariant pseudo-expectations. A key technical idea underlying our results is a new notion of groupoid action on C*-algebras including the essential groupoid C*-algebra itself. For minimal groupoids, we further obtain a relative version of Powers averaging property. Examples arise from suitable group representations into simple groupoid \Cstar-algebras. We prove a generalized version of Powers' averaging property that characterizes simplicity of reduced crossed products $C(X) \rtimes_\lambda G$, where $G$ is a countable discrete group, and $X$ is a compact Hausdorff space which $G$ acts on minimally by homeomorphisms. As a consequence, we generalize results of Hartman and Kalantar on unique stationarity to the state space of $C(X) \rtimes_\lambda G$ and to Kawabe's generalized space of amenable subgroups $\operatorname{Sub}_a(X,G)$. This further lets us generalize a result of the first named author and Kalantar on simplicity of intermediate C*-algebras. We prove that if $C(Y) \subseteq C(X)$ is an inclusion of unital commutative $G$-C*-algebras with $X$ minimal and $C(Y) \rtimes_\lambda G$ simple, then any intermediate C*-algebra $A$ satisfying $C(Y) \rtimes_\lambda G \subseteq A \subseteq C(X) \rtimes_\lambda G$ is simple., Comment: 24 pages; To appear in Transactions of the American Mathematical Society. We give complete descriptions of the tracial states on both the universal and reduced crossed products of a C*-dynamical system consisting of a unital C*-algebra and a discrete group. In particular, we also answer the question of when the tracial states are in canonical bijection with the invariant tracial states on the original C*-algebra. This generalizes the unique trace property for discrete groups. The analysis simplifies greatly in various cases, for example when the conjugacy classes of the original group are all finite, and in other cases gives previously known results, for example when the original C*-algebra is commutative. We also obtain results and examples in the case of abelian groups that contradict existing results in the literature of B\'{e}dos and Thomsen. The notion of a plump subgroup was recently introduced by Amrutam. This is a relativized version of Powers' averaging property, and it is known that Powers' averaging property is equivalent to C*-simplicity. In river flow analysis and forecasting there are some key elements to consider in order to obtain reliable results. For example, seasonality is often accounted for in statistical models because climatic oscillations occurring every year have an obvious impact on river flow. Further sources of alteration could be caused by changes in reservoir management, instrumentation or even unexpected shifts in climatic conditions. When these changes are ignored the statistical results can be strongly misleading. This paper develops an automatic procedure to estimate number and locations of changepoints in Periodic AutoRegressive models. These latter have been extensively used for modelling seasonality in hydrology, climatology, economics and electrical engineering, but there are very few papers devoted also to changepoints detection, moreover being limited to changes in mean or variance. In our proposal we allow the model structure as a whole to change, and estimation is performed by optimizing an objective function derived from the Information Criterion using Genetic Algorithms. The proposed methodology is brought out through the example of three river flows, for which we built models with possible changepoints and evaluated their forecasting accuracy by means of Root Mean Square Error, Mean Absolute Error and Mean Absolute Percentage Error. The last years of data sets have been omitted from the selection and estimation procedure and were then used to forecast. Chromosome conformation capture experiments such as Hi-C are used to map the three-dimensional spatial organization of genomes. One specific feature of the 3D organization is known as topologically associating domains (TADs), which are densely interacting, contiguous chromatin regions playing important roles in regulating gene expression. A few algorithms have been proposed to detect TADs. In particular, the structure of Hi-C data naturally inspires application of community detection methods. However, one of the drawbacks of community detection is that most methods take exchangeability of the nodes in the network for granted; whereas the nodes in this case, i.e. the positions on the chromosomes, are not exchangeable. We propose a network model for detecting TADs using Hi-C data that takes into account this non-exchangeability. In addition, our model explicitly makes use of cell-type specific CTCF binding sites as biological covariates and can be used to identify conserved TADs across multiple cell types. The model leads to a likelihood objective that can be efficiently optimized via relaxation. We also prove that when suitably initialized, this model finds the underlying TAD structure with high probability. Using simulated data, we show the advantages of our method and the caveats of popular community detection methods, such as spectral clustering, in this application. Applying our method to real Hi-C data, we demonstrate the domains identified have desirable epigenetic features and compare them across different cell types.

Resource allocation is today an integral part of cloud infrastructures management to efficiently exploit resources. Cloud infrastructures centers generally use custom built heuristics to define the resource allocations. It is an immediate requirement for the management tools of these centers to have a fast yet reasonably accurate simulation and evaluation platform to define the resource allocation for cloud applications. This work proposes a framework allowing users to easily specify mappings for cloud applications described in the AMALTHEA format used in the context of the DreamCloud European project and to assess the quality for these mappings. The paper aims to mapping the potential vulnerable areas to illegal dumping of household waste from rural areas in the extra- Carpathian region of Neamt County. These areas are ordinary in the proximity of built-up areas and buffers areas of 1 km were delimited for every locality. Based on various map layers in vector formats (land use, rivers, built-up areas, roads etc) an assessment method is performed to highlight the potential areas vulnerable to illegal dumping inside these buffer areas at local scale. The results are correlated to field observations and current situation of waste management systems. The maps outline local disparities due to various geographical conditions of county. This approach is a necessary tool in EIA studies particularly for rural waste management systems at local and regional scale which are less studied in current literature than urban areas.
