H syndrome is a rare autosomal recessive disorder that occurs because of mutations in the SLC29A3 gene, encoding the human equilibrative nucleoside transporter, which is a protein located in endosomes, lysosomes, and mitochondria.1, 2, 3, 4, 5 It was first named by Molho-Pessach et al in 2008.1 To date, fewer than 120 cases of this rare disease have been reported worldwide.5 It is characterized by the presence of hyperpigmented indurated patches with overlying hypertrichosis symmetrically involving the inner aspects of the thighs, which may extend to the posterior aspects of the lower limbs, abdomen, and back, while sparing the knees and buttocks. Other important features of H syndrome include sensorineural hearing loss, hyperglycemia/insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, heart anomalies, hypogonadism, low height (short stature), and hepatosplenomegaly.1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 Currently, many investigators consider H syndrome as a novel form of histiocytosis.4,7 In this case series, 3 cases are reported with findings consistent with H syndrome, in addition to new findings that have not been reported in the literature. All 3 of our patients have low bone mineral density associated with musculoskeletal pain, they also have hypovitaminosis D with secondary hyperparathyroidism, and they responded well to vitamin D supplements.

Recently, several studies have investigated a number of rare monogenic autoimmune disorders, in which the causative genetic defects were identified and found to affect the development or function of regulatory T cells (Tregs). The studies of these disorders have facilitated a deeper understanding of the mechanisms involved in immune regulation and tolerance. Furthermore, these studies have highlighted the importance of Tregs in maintaining homeostasis at the mucosal interface between the host and microbiome. Here, we offer our perspective on these monogenic autoimmune disorders, highlighting their overlapping clinical features with inflammatory bowel disease.

Aims: To conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of retinopathy prevalence in patients with type 1 diabetes (T1D) in 22 Arab countries. Methods: We systematically searched 4 different literature databases (PubMed, Science Direct, Web of Science and Embase), from the date of inception until December 2017, to collect all the information about patients with T1D who developed retinopathy complications; for statistical analysis, we used MetaXL to evaluate the pooled prevalence estimate and the subgroup prevalence estimates employing double arcsine transformation and inverse variance heterogeneity models. Results: Our search strategy returned 475 studies, of which 39 met our inclusion criteria; of those, 16 were eligible for meta-analysis that were captured only in 15 Arab countries, through 45 years (1969–2014). The number of retinopathy patients was 396 out of 1,931 patients with T1D. The prevalence of retinopathy was 19% (95% CI 10–28%). Substantial heterogeneity was observed (Q 240.78, p < 0.0001, I2 93.77%, 95% CI 91.35–95.52%); however, no single study considerably affected the overall pooled prevalence estimate. Conclusion: Almost one fifth of T1D patients in 15 Arab countries have diabetic retinopathy, therefore it is important to improve the care of patients with T1D and in Arab countries to avoid the development of such a devastating complication.

The research mainly discusses the correlation between the effect of technological evolution and the environmental aspects on architecture. The research depends on data analysis of theoretical study which carried out to explain the features of this effect. The environment could be classified to two major elements: the natural environment and built environment. Through ages, both natural and built environment are responsible for formulation of cultural and religion identity of any civilization which identifies it and achieves respect and appreciation from various civilization. On other hand, the development of societies requires paying attention and keeping up with technological evolution through ages. Technological evolution provides new tools and techniques for many fields in societies especially architecture as many features are affected by it such as: the evolution of design process, building materials, structural systems, and construction methods. As well, the architectural thinking is developed through the implementation of new digital design methodologies, new building materials configuration, and innovative construction methods. This development formulates a contemporary architecture which differs in its concept and applications from any previous architecture concepts appeared in all ages before information technology age. Recently, a huge confusion caused by approaches which discussed and presented by theorists to achieve the balance between the technological capabilities and environment determinants to submit an objective architecture which meet the need of activities applied in and do not care about the form without the content. The research offers a methodology to measure the extent to which contemporary architecture is connected with the place. The proposed methodology depends on the different dissertations that call for the establishment of a balance between originality and contemporary and is used to evaluate the architectural practices which are connected with the place. The practical study relies on applying the central axis of new Cairo as a case study to follow the Egyptian contemporary practices which are connected to the place.

Mice have been used as accepted tools for investigating complex human diseases and new drug therapies because of their shared genetics and anatomical characteristics with humans. However, the tissues in mice are different from humans in that human cells have a natural mutation in the α1,3 galactosyltransferase (α1,3GT) gene and lack α-Gal epitopes on glycosylated proteins, whereas mice and other nonprimate mammals express this epitope. The lack of α-Gal epitopes in humans results in the loss of immune tolerance to this epitope and production of abundant natural anti-Gal Abs. These natural anti-Gal Abs can be used as an adjuvant to enhance processing of vaccine epitopes to APCs. However, wild-type mice and all existing humanized mouse models cannot be used to test the efficacy of vaccines expressing α-Gal epitopes because they express α-Gal epitopes and lack anti-Gal Abs. Therefore, in an effort to bridge the gap between the mouse models and humans, we developed a new humanized mouse model that mimics humans in that it lacks α-Gal epitopes and secretes human anti-Gal Abs. The new humanized mouse model (Hu-NSG/α-Galnull) is designed to be used for preclinical evaluations of viral and tumor vaccines based on α-Gal epitopes, human-specific immune responses, xenotransplantation studies, and in vivo biomaterials evaluation. To our knowledge, our new Hu-NSG/α-Galnull is the first available humanized mouse model with such features.

The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis and determine the prevalence of diabetic nephropathy (DN) among Arab patients with T1D. A systematic literature search was conducted using 4 different literature databases (PubMed, ScienceDirect, Web of Science, and Embase) to capture all relevant data about Arab patients with T1D that had DN. Meta-analysis and systematic review were performed using the random effect model, and the heterogeneity of the studies was assessed using the Q-test, I2, and Tau-squared statistics. Publication bias was assessed using the funnel-plot test. Our search strategy captured 372 studies in only 10 out of the 22 Arab countries in a period of 48 years (1969-2017); of which, 41 met our inclusion criteria for full article analysis, of those, 15 were eligible for meta-analysis. We estimated the prevalence of DN among Arab people with T1D to be 18.2% (95% confidence interval 13.1%-24.8%). In conclusion, DN prevalence is underexplored among Arab patients with T1D and represents a significant risk for the well-being of Arab patients with T1D. Therefore, there is an urgent need for comprehensive epidemiological studies for DN among Arab patients with T1D.

CTLA-4 is a crucial negative regulator of immune responses. Absence of CTLA-4 in mice causes autoimmunity and lethal multiorgan lymphocytic infiltration and tissue destruction. Recently, heterozygous CTLA4 or biallelic LRBA mutations leading to functional CTLA-4 deficiency and autoimmunity have been discovered. LRBA was identified as a novel regulator of steady-state CTLA-4 protein levels in Tregs and activated T cells. CTLA-4 deficiency due to checkpoint blockade cancer immunotherapy has also been found to lead to autoimmune reactions. Studies investigating the variable efficacy and adverse autoimmune responses to checkpoint therapy elucidated a role of the microbiota in promoting antitumor and autoreactive immune responses that are regulated by CTLA-4.

Rheumatic heart disease (RHD) is the most serious manifestations of rheumatic fever, which is caused by group A Streptococcus (GAS or Streptococcus pyogenes) infection. RHD is an auto immune sequelae of GAS pharyngitis, rather than the direct bacterial infection of the heart, which leads to chronic heart valve damage. Although antibiotics like penicillin are effective against GAS infection, improper medical care such as poor patient compliance, overcrowding, poverty, and repeated exposure to GAS, leads to acute rheumatic fever and RHD. Thus, efforts have been put forth towards developing a vaccine. However, a potential global vaccine is yet to be identified due to the widespread diversity of S. pyogenes strains and cross reactivity of streptococcal proteins with host tissues. In this review, we discuss the available vaccine targets of S. pyogenes and the significance of in silico approaches in designing a vaccine for RHD.

Cancer cells have distinctive electrochemical properties. This work sheds light on the system design aspects and key challenges that should be considered when experimentally analyzing and extracting the electrical characteristics of a tumor cell line. In this study, we developed a cellularbased functional microfabricated device using lithography technology. This device was used to investigate the electrochemical parameters of cultured cancer cells at the single-cell level. Using impedance spectroscopy analyses, we determined the average specific capacitance and resistance of the membrane of the cancer cell line B16-F10 to be 1.154 +/- 0.29 microF/cm(2), and 3.9 +/- 1.15 KOmega.cm(2) (mean +/- SEM, n =14 cells), respectively. The consistency of our findings via different trails manifests the legitimacy of our experimental procedure. Furthermore, the data were compared with a proposed constructed analytical-circuit model. The results of this work may greatly assist researchers in defining an optimal procedure while extracting electrical properties of cancer cells. Detecting electrical signals at the single cell level could lead to the development of novel approaches for analysis of malignant cells in human tissues and biopsies.

This study describes a method for increasing the immunogenicity of influenza virus vaccines by exploiting the natural anti-Gal antibody to effectively target vaccines to antigen-presenting cells (APC). This method is based on enzymatic engineering of carbohydrate chains on virus envelope hemagglutinin to carry the α-Gal epitope (Galα1-3Galβ1-4GlcNAc-R). This epitope interacts with anti-Gal, the most abundant antibody in humans (1% of immunoglobulins). Influenza virus vaccine expressing α-Gal epitopes is opsonized in situ by anti-Gal immunoglobulin G. The Fc portion of opsonizing anti-Gal interacts with Fcγ receptors on APC and induces effective uptake of the vaccine virus by APC. APC internalizes the opsonized virus to transport it to draining lymph nodes for stimulation of influenza virus-specific T cells, thereby eliciting a protective immune response. The efficacy of such an influenza vaccine was demonstrated in α1,3galactosyltransferase (α1,3GT) knockout mice, which produce anti-Gal, using the influenza virus strain A/Puerto Rico/8/34-H1N1 (PR8). Synthesis of α-Gal epitopes on carbohydrate chains of PR8 virus (PR8αgal) was catalyzed by recombinant α1,3GT, the glycosylation enzyme that synthesizes α-Gal epitopes in cells of nonprimate mammals. Mice immunized with PR8αgaldisplayed much higher numbers of PR8-specific CD8+and CD4+T cells (determined by intracellular cytokine staining and enzyme-linked immunospot assay) and produced anti-PR8 antibodies with much higher titers than mice immunized with PR8 lacking α-Gal epitopes. Mice immunized with PR8αgalalso displayed a much higher level of protection than PR8 immunized mice after being challenged with lethal doses of live PR8 virus. We suggest that a similar method for increasing immunogenicity may be applicable to avian influenza vaccines.

Background. Understanding anti-non-gal antibody response is of significance for success in xenotransplantation. Long-term anti-non-gal response in humans was studied in patients transplanted with porcine patellar tendon (PT) lacking -gal epitopes, for replacing ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Methods. Porcine PTs were treated with recombinant -galactosidase to eliminate -gal epitopes and with glutaraldehyde for moderate cross-linking of collagen fibers. The processed pig PTs were implanted to replace ruptured ACL in patients. Results. In five of six evaluable subjects, the xenografts have continued to function for over two years and passed all functional stability assessments. Thus, processed porcine PT seems to be appropriate for replacing ruptured human ACL.Enzyme-linkedimmunosorbentassayandWesternblotstudiesindicatedthatallsubjectsproducedanti-non-gal antibodies against multiple pig xenoproteins, but not against human ligament proteins. Production of anti-non-gal antibodies peaked two to six months posttransplantation and disappeared after two years. Conclusions. These antibodies contribute to a low-level inflammatory process that aids in gradual xenograft replacement by infiltrating host fibroblasts that align with the pig collagen “scaffold” and secrete collagen matrix. The assays monitoringanti-non-galantibodieswillhelptodeterminewhetherlong-termsurvivalofliveorganxenograftsrequires complete suppression of this antibody response.

Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) is characterized by the T cell-mediated destruction of insulin-producing β cells. Accordingly, APCs, such as macrophage, have also been shown to be important in the disease process. However, the role(s) of dendritic cells (DCs) that exhibit potent APC function remains undefined in IDDM. Here we demonstrate that DCs derived from nonobese diabetic (NOD) mice, a model for IDDM, are more sensitive to various forms of stimulation compared with those from C57BL/6 and BALB/c mice, resulting in increased IL-12 secretion. This property is a consequence of hyperactivation of NF-κB, a transcription factor known to regulate IL-12 gene expression. Specifically, NOD DCs exhibit persistent hyperactivation of both IκB kinase and NF-κB in response to stimuli, in addition to selective degradation of IκBε. Transfection of NOD DCs with a modified form of IκBα significantly reduced IL-12 secretion, suggesting that hyperactivation of NF-κB was in part responsible for increased IL-12 production. An enhanced capacity of NOD DCs to secrete IL-12 would be expected to contribute to the development of pathogenic Th1 (Tc1) cells during the diabetogenic response.

T2Kb cells, which do not express TAP1/2 peptide transporters or the low molecular weight protein 2/7 (LMP2/7) proteasomal subunits, can still process and present both live and heat-inactivated Sendai virus (SV). As this operation may also reflect the existence of an alternative processing pathway in normal antigen-presenting cells (APC), the authors have characterized it using intracelluular inhibitors and anti-Kb monoclonal antibodies (MoAbs). From the results with lipophilic amines (ammonium chloride, methylamine and chloroquine), cytoskeletal inhibitors (cytochalasin B and vinblastine), and an endoprotease inhibitor (phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride, PMSF), the authors conclude that the processing of SV antigen in T2Kb cells has endosomal characteristics depending on cellular activities such as uptake, vesicular transport and intracellular–vesicular proteolysis. In addition, internalized ‘empty’ Kb molecules derived from the T2Kb cell surface appeared to be involved in the presentation of SV antigen, as demonstrated by a protocol using a combination of the Golgi inhibitor brefeldin A(BFA) and anti-Kb antibodies. The results thus indicate that T2Kb cells process SV antigen in an endosomal-like compartment which contain recycling ‘empty’ Kb molecules.

Topical microbicides are a leading strategy for prevention of HIV mucosal infection to women; however, numerous pharmacokinetic limitations associated with coitally related dosing strategy have contributed to their limited success. Here we test the hypothesis that adeno-associated virus (AAV) mediated delivery of the b12 human anti-HIV-1 gp120 minibody gene to the lower genital tract of female rhesus macaques (Rh) can provide prolonged expression of b12 minibodies in the cervical-vaginal secretions. Gene transfer studies demonstrated that, of various green fluorescent protein (GFP)-expressing AAV serotypes, AAV-6 most efficiently transduced freshly immortalized and primary genital epithelial cells (PGECs) of female Rh in vitro. In addition, AAV-6-b12 minibody transduction of Rh PGECs led to inhibition of SHIV162p4 transmigration and virus infectivity in vitro. AAV-6-GFP could also successfully transduce vaginal epithelial cells of Rh when applied intravaginally, including p63+ epithelial stem cells. Moreover, intravaginal application of AAV-6-b12 to female Rh resulted in prolonged minibody detection in their vaginal secretions throughout the 79-day study period. These data provide proof of principle that AAV-6-mediated delivery of anti-HIV broadly neutralizing antibody (BnAb) genes to the lower genital tract of female Rh results in persistent minibody detection for several months. This strategy offers promise that an anti-HIV-1 genetic microbicide strategy may be possible in which topical application of AAV vector, with periodic reapplication as needed, may provide sustained local BnAb expression and protection.

In several experimental models, synthetic peptides were shown to activate efficiently cytotoxic T-lymphocyte (CTL) responses and therefore represent an attractive strategy to develop new vaccines. However, the mechanisms by which they induce CTL responses are not yet fully understood. Several studies using 15 16-mer peptides previously demonstrated that CD4 helper T cells are required to induce optimal CTL responses with synthetic peptides. However, recently it was suggested that shorter 8 12-mer peptides could have an increased in vivo immunogenicity. In the present study, we therefore investigated if such optimal-length peptides still require CD4+ T-cell help to activate CTL responses. To address this question three synthetic peptides containing different viral CTL epitopes were injected into mice depleted of CD4+ or CD8+ T cells using specific monoclonal antibodies or into mice genetically deficient in those T-cell populations. Our results clearly established that activation of CTL responses by those short optimal peptides does not require CD4+ T-cell help and therefore suggested that high-density binding of peptides to major histocompatibility complex class I molecules on the surface of antigen-presenting cells is required for direct activation of CD8+ T cells, independently of CD4+ T-cell help.

Background: Although several therapeutic options have become available for patients with Cutaneous T-cell Lymphoma (CTCL), no therapy has been curative. Recent studies have demonstrated that CTCL cells overexpress the CC chemokine receptor 4 (CCR4). Methodology/Principal Findings: In this study, a xenograft model of CTCL was established and a recombinant adenoassociated viral serotype 8 (AAV8) vector expressing a humanized single-chain variable fragment (scFv)-Fc fusion (scFvFc or ‘‘minibody’’) of anti-CCR4 monoclonal antibody (mAb) h1567 was evaluated for curative treatment. Human CCR4 + tumorbearing mice treated once with intravenous infusion of AAV8 virions encoding the h1567 (AAV8-h1567) minibody showed anti-tumor activity in vivo and increased survival. The AAV8-h1567 minibody notably increased the number of tumorinfiltrating Ly-6G + FccRIIIa(CD16A) + murine neutrophils in the tumor xenografts over that of AAV8-control minibody treated mice. Furthermore, in CCR4 + tumor-bearing mice co-treated with AAV8-h1567 minibody and infused with human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), marked tumor infiltration of human CD16A + CD56 + NK cells was observed. The h1567 minibody also induced in vitro ADCC activity through both mouse neutrophils and human NK cells. Conclusions/Significance: Overall, our data demonstrate that the in vivo anti-tumor activity of h1567 minibody is mediated, at least in part, through CD16A + immune effector cell ADCC mechanisms. These data further demonstrate the utility of the AAV-minibody gene transfer system in the rapid evaluation of candidate anti-tumor mAbs and the potency of h1567 as a potential novel therapy for CTCL.

Background: Although cervico-vaginal epithelial cells of the female lower genital tract provide the initial defense system against HIV-1 infection, the protection is sometimes incomplete. Thus, enhancing anti-HIV-1 humoral immunity at the mucosal cell surface by local expression of anti-HIV-1 broadly neutralizing antibodies (BnAb) that block HIV-1 entry would provide an important new intervention that could slow the spread of HIV/AIDS. Methods and Findings: This study tested the hypothesis that adeno-associated virus (AAV)-BnAb gene transfer to cervicovaginal epithelial cells will lead to protection against HIV-1. Accordingly, a recombinant AAV vector that encodes human b12 anti-HIV gp120 BnAb as a single-chain variable fragment Fc fusion (scFvFc), or ‘‘minibody’’ was constructed. The secreted b12 minibody was shown to be biologically functional in binding to virus envelope protein, neutralizing HIV-1 and importantly, blocking transfer and infectivity of HIV-1bal in an organotypic human vaginal epithelial cell (VEC) model. Furthermore, cervico-vaginal epithelial stem cells were found to be efficiently transduced by the optimal AAV serotype mediated expression of GFP. Conclusion: This study provides the foundation for a novel microbicide strategy to protect against sexual transmission of HIV-1 by AAV transfer of broadly neutralizing antibody genes to cervico-vaginal epithelial stem cells that could replenish b12 BnAb secreting cells through multiple menstrual cycles.

Cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) recognize target antigens as short peptides presented by major histocompatibility complex class I molecules (MHC-I). Externally added peptides can sensitize target cells by binding directly to MHC-I without any need for internal processing. Those which are similar in length to endogenously processed peptides are more potent in this respect than slightly longer peptides. Peptide MHC-I interactions can also be reflected as up-regulation of MHC-I in vitro on certain cells. We have compared the capacity of Db, Kb- and Ld-binding peptides, which are slightly different in length, to up-regulate MHC-I in vitro with their immunogenicity in vivo, in relation to generation of CTL responses. A clear correlation between these two different functions was found. We have also modified a 9-mer Db-binding peptide by adding cystein to the amino terminus and lysine to the amino- or carboxy terminus and studied the effects on MHC-I up-regulation and in vivo immunogenicity. Cystein and lysine contain reactive groups which are likely to influence the binding of modified peptides into the antigen-binding groove of Db. These small modifications of the optimal 9-mer peptide strongly influenced their functions but still there was a correlation between MHC-I up-regulation and CTL responses. Up-regulation of MHC-I in vitro may reflect a capacity of peptides to accumulate on the surface of particular antigen-presenting cells in vivo.

Topical application of alpha-gal liposomes on burns results in rapid local recruitment of neutrophils and macrophages. Recruited macrophages are pivotal for healing of burns because they secrete cytokines/growth factors that induce epidermis regeneration and tissue repair. alpha-Gal liposomes have glycolipids with alpha-gal epitopes (Galalpha1-3Galbeta1-4GlcNAc-R) which bind anti-Gal, the most abundant natural antibody in humans constituting approximately 1% of immunoglobulins. Interaction of alpha-gal liposomes with anti-Gal within the fluid film formed on burns, activates complement and generates chemotactic complement cleavage peptides which effectively recruit neutrophils and macrophages. Anti-Gal IgG coating alpha-gal liposomes further binds to Fcgamma receptors on macrophages and activates them to secrete cytokines/growth factors. Efficacy of alpha-gal liposomes treatment in accelerating burn healing is demonstrated in the experimental model of alpha1,3galactosyltransferase knockout mice. These mice are the only available nonprimate mammals that can produce anti-Gal in titers similar to those in humans. Pairs of burns in mice were covered either with a spot bandage coated with 10mg alpha-gal liposomes, or with a control spot bandage coated with saline. On Day 3 post-treatment, the alpha-gal liposomes treated burns contained approximately 5-fold as many neutrophils as control burns, whereas macrophages were found only in alpha-gal liposomes treated burns. On Day 6, 50-100% of the surface area of alpha-gal liposomes treated burns were covered with regenerating epidermis (re-epithelialization), whereas almost no epidermis was found in control burns. The extensive recruitment of macrophages by anti-Gal/alpha-gal liposomes interaction was further demonstrated in vivo with polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) sponge discs containing alpha-gal liposomes, implanted subcutaneously. Since anti-Gal is abundant in all humans, it is suggested that treatment with alpha-gal liposomes will be effective also in patients with burns and other skin wounds.

Anti-Gal constitutes approximately 1% of circulating IgG in humans and interacts specifically with alpha-gal epitopes. We reported previously that expression of alpha-gal epitopes on HIV gp120 and influenza virus vaccines increases immunogenicity by approximately 100-fold. We hypothesize that immunogenicity of any microbial vaccine can be markedly increased by linked alpha-gal epitopes due to in vivo formation of immune complexes with anti-Gal and the effective internalization of such immune complexes by APC, via Fc/FcgammaR interaction. The increased transport to lymph nodes and processing of anti-Gal complexed vaccines internalized by APC, results in effective activation of vaccine specific CD4(+) and CD8(+) T cells, and high cellular and humoral immune response. This universal mechanism for anti-Gal mediated increased immunogenicity is demonstrated in alpha1,3galactosyltransferase knockout mice with ovalbumin as a model vaccine.

The glycan shield comprised of multiple carbohydrate chains on the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) envelope glycoprotein gp120 helps the virus to evade neutralizing antibodies. The present study describes a novel method for increasing immunogenicity of gp120 vaccine by enzymatic replacement of sialic acid on these carbohydrate chains with Galα1-3Galβ1-4GlcNAc-R (α-gal) epitopes. These epitopes are ligands for the natural anti-Gal antibody constituting ∼1% of immunoglobulin G in humans. We hypothesize that vaccination with gp120 expressing α-gal epitopes (gp120 αgal ) results in in vivo formation of immune complexes with anti-Gal, which targets vaccines for effective uptake by antigen-presenting cells (APC), due to interaction between the Fc portion of the antibody and Fcγ receptors on APC. This in turn results in effective transport of the vaccine to lymph nodes and effective processing and presentation of gp120 immunogenic peptides by APC for eliciting a strong anti-gp120 immune response. This hypothesis was tested in α-1,3-galactosyltransferase knockout mice, which produce anti-Gal. Mice immunized with gp120 αgal produced anti-gp120 antibodies in titers that were >100-fold higher than those measured in mice immunized with comparable amounts of gp120 and effectively neutralized HIV. T-cell response, measured by ELISPOT, was much higher in mice immunized with gp120 αgal than in mice immunized with gp120. It is suggested that gp120 αgal can serve as a platform for anti-Gal-mediated targeting of additional vaccinating HIV proteins fused to gp120 αgal , thereby creating effective prophylactic vaccines.
