Using (bis)diethoxyphosphoryl ferrocene [Fc(O＝P(OEt)2)2] and transition metal carboxylates – [M2(μ-OOCR)4(CH3CN)2], M = CuII, R = tBu, (C5H4)Mn(CO)3 (Cym) or [M3(μ-OOCR)6(CH3CN)2], M = NiII, CoII, R = Cym, a series of heterometallic polymers with metal cores {Cu2Fe}n (1), {Cu2Mn4Fe}n (2) {Ni2Mn4Fe}n (3), and {Co2Mn4Fe}n (4) were obtained under mild conditions. Lactobacillus paracasei B-11821 is a probiotic strain of microorganisms, for which previous studies have shown pronounced antagonistic and adhesive activity, a high level of acid formation and manufacturability. The characteristics of the metabolite profile of the promising probiotic strain can significantly expand the scope of its application in the medical, pharmaceutical and food industries. Using high- performance liquid chromatomass spectrometry and gas-liquid chromatography, it was established that this strain is an active producer of essential amino acids: (isoleucine (1.920 mg/mL), phenylalanine (0.963 mg/mL), valine (0.840 mg/mL), leucine (0.561 mg/mL), methionine (0.369 mg/mL), threonine (0.233 mg/mL), histidine (0.055 mg/mL), lysine (0.008 mg/mL)); as well as a number of replaceable amino acids (tyrosine (0.622 mg/mL), alanine (0.438 mg/mL), proline (0.278 mg/mL), glycine (0.111 mg/mL), glutamine (0.015 mg/mL), asparagine (0.014 mg/mL), serine (0.008 mg/mL), arginine (0.005 mg/mL)). The strain is also an active producer of organic acids (lactic (16.2 mg/ml), acetic (0.9 mg/ml) and gamma-aminobutyric (0.3 mg/ml) GABA, propionic (0.02 mg/ml) acids. The obtained results can be used for development based on the strain Lactobacillus paracasei B-11821 probiotic preparations, functional food products, technologies for synthesis of lactic and gamma-aminobutyric acids.

A series of copper(II) complexes with different anions of composition [CuPhen(Hpz)2X2] (Phen = 1,10-phenanthroline; Hpz = pyrazole; X = CF3COO− (1), Otf− (2), Cl− (3), Otf = CF3SO3) have been synthesized. The structures of all obtained complexes were determined by direct X-ray diffraction analysis. In complexes 1–3 the equatorial planes are occupied by N-donor ligands, while the axial positions belong to the anions of various acids. Crystal structures 1–3 are additionally stabilized by hydrogen bonds, the type of which depends on the nature of the anion. The stability of the complexes upon dissolution in 0.9% NaCl was confirmed by UV-vis spectroscopy. The study of the biological properties of 1–3 showed high antibacterial activity against the non-pathogenic strain of Mycolicibacterium smegmatis (MIC (minimum inhibiting concentration) = 8–10 nmol per disk). The cytotoxic effect of various concentrations of complexes 1–3 on human ovarian adenocarcinoma cells (SKOV3) and human dermal fibroblasts (HDF) was measured in vitro. Four new frameworks were obtained by slow diffusion of a ligand solution – 1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene (dpe) into solutions of NiII and CoII furoates. It is shown that, depending on the combination of solvents used, it is possible to purposefully set the topology of the coordination polymers as a simple chain in [Co(fur)2(dpe)(CH3OH)2]n (1), 2D 4-c sql in [Co(fur)2(dpe)2]n (2)/[Ni(fur)2(dpe)2]n (3) and 3D 3-cetb in [Ni(fur)2(dpe)1.5(H2O)]n·3H2O (4) (fur− is the anion of 2-furoic acid). The simple chains extend in two different directions. The sql nets show inclined polycatenation. Compound 4 exhibits the first example of such a high degree of interpenetration as 7, which is more than three times higher than the known record for nets. All the compounds were characterized by single crystal X-ray analysis. The metal atoms in the structural fragments have a CN = 6 and are in an octahedral environment with a different ratio of N and O – ({CoO4N2} (1), {MO2N4} for M = Co (2) and Ni (3), {NiO3N3} (4)). The coordination network of 4 has accessible channels with an estimated pore volume of 4650 Å3 per unit cell (29.4%). Thermal behavior of 1, 3 and 4 was studied by simultaneous thermal analysis (STA). The obtained χT(T) dependences were approximated using the PHI software. Backbone functionalization of the pre-coordinated, emblematic IMes ligand with the COOH moiety was achieved upon treatment of Cp(CO)2Mn(IMes) with n-BuLi followed by CO2 and HCl to afford Cp(CO)2Mn(IMesCOOH). The latter reacts with (1,10-phen)M(OAc)2 (M = Cu, Zn) to obtain M3Mn4 polymetallic complexes exhibiting the ambidentate IMesCO2− moiety as a key structural unit. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The reactions of dicopper tetrapivalatecomplex Cu2(μ-OOC-t-Bu)4(NCMe)2(1) with triphenylphosphineoxide and diethyl phosphite allow paddle-wheel(PW) copper(II) complexes with phosphorus-containing axial ligands(2, 3) to be obtained. When meso-bis(diethoxyphosphoryl)porphyrins 4Mwere employedin this ligand exchange reaction, a series of one-dimensional (1D)homo- and heterometallic coordination polymers 5Mcomposedof PW subunits and organophosphonate diesters were prepared and characterizedby means of single crystal X-ray analysis. Planar porphyrinate 4Pdand nonplanar metalloporphyrinates 4Cuand 4Niproved to be appropriate molecular structural blocks forassembly of coordination polymers. The structural parameters of thetetrapyrrolic macrocycles incorporated into the polymer chain aredetermined by the nature of the metal center of the porphyrin moiety. While the geometry of palladium(II) and nickel(II) porphyrinates 4Pdand 4Nidoes not change significantly inthe polymer chain, saddle-shaped Cu(II) porphyrinate 4Cuexhibits a nearly planar core configuration, being coordinated tothe copper centers of PW fragments by two peripheral phosphoryl groupsin the polymer chain. The geometry of the tetrapyrrolic core is akey parameter influencing the structural properties of the polymericmaterials. For 5Pdand for isostructural 5Cu, all metal centers of the polymeric chain are aligned. The planarmacrocycles of adjacent chains are parallel and are shifted one toanother in such a way that the angle between the Pd···Pand Pd···Pd directions is 40.4°, and the distancebetween the nearest palladium(II) atoms of neighboring chains is 11.668Å. There is no free volume in these crystals. In the crystalsof 5Ni, formed by nonplanar porphyrinates, only copperatoms of the PW pivalate moiety are located in one plane, and zigzagchains are formed so that two adjacent tetrapyrrolic macrocycles arelocated in alternating positions with respect to this plane, the nickelatoms being displaced from this plane by 1.548 Å. This arrangementnaturally leads to the formation of regular pores. The resulting channelshave an effective cross-section of about 10 × 12 Å and representca. 18% of the volume of the crystal. The exchange reaction betweenthe free-base porphyrin 4H2andan excess of copper(II) pivalate complex 1is accompaniedby the metalation of the porphyrin core affording the polymer 5Cu. Moreover, self-assembly of metalloporphyrinate 4Znis observed under studied experimental conditions, whichinterferes with the formation of the target mixed coordination polymers. Abstract: The paddlewheel complex Pd(μ-OOCMe)4Ba(HOOCMe)4 readily reacts with 18-crown-6, while the reaction products Pd(μ-OOCMe)4Ba(η6-18-crown-6) and (η1-OOCMe)2Pd(μ-OOCMe)2Ba(OH2)(η6-18-crown-6) unexpectedly retain the heterometallic Pd@Ba metal skeleton. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
