The article presents the theory of elastic deformation and elastic wave propagation velocity of BCC binary interstitial alloy’s thin film based on the statistical moment method. Metal’s films and bulk interstitial alloys are specific cases of interstitial alloy’s films in this theory. The obtained theoretical results are applied to W and WSi films, where calculated results are compared with other calculations and experimental data.

Introduction: Despite many medical advances, acute lower gastrointestinal bleeding in Asia has been increasing gradually and has resulted in substantial mortality. The study aimed to describe the clinical characteristics, interventions, and outcomes of acute lower gastrointestinal bleeding in Vietnamese people. Methods: A multicenter cohort study was prospectively and retrospectively conducted in patients presenting with acute lower gastrointestinal bleeding in Vietnam. Severe lower gastrointestinal bleeding was defined as persistent bleeding within the first 24 hours and/or recurrent bleeding after 24 hours of stability accompanied by a reduction in hematocrit of ≥ 20% and/or transfusion of ≥ 2 units of red blood cells. The clinical characteristics, interventions, and adverse outcomes were recorded. Results: There were 811 patients with a male: female ratio of 1.07 and a mean age of 61 years. A total of 85.6% of patients presented with hematochezia. The common causes of acute lower gastrointestinal bleeding were hemorrhoids (28.6%), diverticulosis (9.7%), and unknown origin (16%). The rates of blood transfusion, endoscopic therapy, radiologic intervention, and surgery were 39.8%, 8.6%, 0.5%, and 7.3%, respectively. Severe lower gastrointestinal bleeding was observed in 222 (27.4%) patients. In-hospital deaths were recorded in 17 (2.1%) patients. The majority of in-hospital deaths were due to unstable comorbidities. Conclusions: Hemorrhoids were the most common cause of acute lower gastrointestinal bleeding. The rates of blood transfusion, endoscopic hemostasis, interventional radiology, and surgery were 39.8%, 8.6%, 0.5%, and 7.3%, respectively. A total of 27.4% of cases progressed to severe bleeding.

G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) are the largest family of transmembrane receptors and are the target of approximately one-third of all Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved pharmaceutical drugs. GPCRs interact with many transducers, such as heterotrimeric G proteins, GPCR kinases (GRKs), and β-arrestins. Recent experiments have demonstrated that some ligands can activate distinct effector proteins over others, a phenomenon termed “biased agonism.” These discoveries have raised the potential of developing drugs which preferentially activate therapeutic signaling pathways over those that lead to deleterious side effects. However, to date, only one biased GPCR therapeutic has received FDA approval and many others have either failed to meet their specified primary end points and or demonstrate superiority over currently available treatments. In addition, there is a lack of understanding regarding how biased agonism measured at a GPCR leads to specific downstream physiological responses. Here, we briefly summarize the history and current status of biased agonism at GPCRs and suggest adoption of a “systems pharmacology” approach upon which to develop GPCR-targeted drugs that demonstrate heightened therapeutic efficacy with improved side effect profiles.

Objective: Describing the expression of several growth factors in exosomes released byumbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSCs) and platelet rich plasma (PRP)derived from umbilical cord blood (UCB). Methods: 05 UCMSC samples were cultured for therelease of exosomes into conditioned media. 05 UCB-dereived plasma samples were used toprepare PRP. Conditioned media was harvested from UCMSCs at passage four (P4) wasdifferentially centrifuged for exosomes. Isolated exosomes and PRP were then investigated forthe expression of growth factors. The growth factors which are from exosomes and PRP include:hepatocellular growth factor (HGF), platelet-derived growth factor BB (PDGF-BB), vascularendothelial growth factor A (VEGF-A), and fibroblast growth factor 2 (FGF-2). Results: BothUCMSC-derived exosomes and UCB-derived PRP carried growth factors with different amount.The expression of HGF (2176.82 pg), PDGF-BB (1765.82 pg) and VEGF-A (2336.43 pg) is muchgreater than FGF-2 (39.64 pg) and HGF (2176.82 pg) is larger than PDGF-BB (1765.82 pg) inthe UCB-derived PRP. Regarding UCMSC-derived exosomes, HFG (312.62 pg) and PDGF-BB(674.87 pg) were expressed larger than VEGF-A (72.50 pg) and FGF-2 (34.51 pg). Conclusion:Both UCMSC-derived exosomes and UCB-derived PRP contained abundant amount of growthfactors, including HGF, PDGF-BB, VEGF-A, and FGF-2. Expression level of each factor isdifferent and the FGF-2 is the lowest expression in both exosomes and PRP.

Cell culture models more accurately would be of significant value to the medical field and pharmaceutical industry. To achieve this goal, microfluidic cell culture platforms are created and improved for modeling the native cell microenvironment because they can precisely reconstruct in vivo cellular behavior. In this study, a 3D low-cost microfluidic device is used to compare the difference between the static and dynamic environment in 3D cell culture. Cells were seeded in the microfluidic device, and to produce the fluidic flow, the pump was used with the set speed was 0.045ml/min. In 3D cell culture, the viability of cells was monitored by size growth of the spheroids for 7 days. All systems were designed and optimized without leakage of the medium. In the results, the 3D dynamic condition showed a faster increase in size than in the static condition. Overall, the study was prepared for microfluidic platforms with low-cost and simple settings. Moreover, the usage of 3D microfluidic to mimic in vivo returned favorable results that were expected for drug testing in the future.

Background Little information is available on the costs of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) in Vietnam or other low- and middle-income countries. Our study estimated the costs of LRTIs associated with RSV infection among children in southern Vietnam. Methods We conducted a prospective cohort study evaluating household and societal costs associated with LRTIs stratified by RSV status and severity among children under 2 years old who sought care at a major pediatric referral hospital in southern Vietnam. Enrollment periods were September 2019–December 2019, October 2020–June 2021 and October 2021–December 2021. RSV status was confirmed by a validated RT-PCR assay. RSV rapid detection antigen (RDA) test performance was also evaluated. Data on resource utilization, direct medical and non-medical costs, and indirect costs were collected from billing records and supplemented by patient-level questionnaires. All costs are reported in 2022 US dollars. Results 536 children were enrolled in the study, with a median age of 7 months (interquartile range [IQR] 3–12). This included 210 (39.2%) children from the outpatient department, 318 children (59.3%) from the inpatient respiratory department (RD), and 8 children (1.5%) from the intensive care unit (ICU). Nearly 20% (105/536) were RSV positive: 3.9 percent (21/536) from the outpatient department, 15.7% (84/536) from the RD, and none from the ICU. The median total cost associated with LRTI per patient was US$52 (IQR 32–86) for outpatients and US$184 (IQR 109–287) for RD inpatients. For RSV-associated LRTIs, the median total cost per infection episode per patient was US$52 (IQR 32–85) for outpatients and US$165 (IQR 95–249) for RD inpatients. Total out-of-pocket costs of one non-ICU admission of RSV-associated LRTI ranged from 32%-70% of the monthly minimum wage per person (US$160) in Ho Chi Minh City. The sensitivity and the specificity of RSV RDA test were 88.2% (95% CI 63.6–98.5%) and 100% (95% CI 93.3–100%), respectively. Conclusion These are the first data reporting the substantial economic burden of RSV-associated illness in young children in Vietnam. This study informs policymakers in planning health care resources and highlights the urgency of RSV disease prevention.

The paper uses the model of cubic ternary substitutional and interstitial alloy and conditions in which the interstitial atom concentration is very small compared to the substitutional atom concentration, the substitutional atom concentration is very small compared to the main metal atom concentration. On that basis together with the elastic wave and the elastic deformation theory of this alloy obtained by the statistical moment method, we perform numerical calculations for temperature, pressure, the concentration of substitutional atoms, and concentration of interstitial atoms dependences of the elastic moduli E, K, G, the elastic constants C11, C12, C44, the longitudinal wave velocity Vd and the transverse wave velocity Vn of alloys FeCrSi and AuCuSi. Numerical results for FeCrSi and AuCuSi are compared with that of Fe, FeCr, FeSi, Au, AuCu, AuSi, and other calculations, and experiments. Numerical results for ternary alloys predict experimental results in the future.

This study aims to evaluate the knowledge, attitude, and preventive practices (KAP) towards COVID-19 for this population in Vietnam.Methods: An online-based cross-sectional survey was considered with all students at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City (UMP), Vietnam, between June and August 2020. A structured questionnaire was used to assess KAP towards COVID-19 with response having considerable data missing in the areas of KAP being excluded from the analysis. All data were analysed by using STATA 14 software, to determine the factors associated with preventive practices, and a multivariable regression analysis was performed, along with odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI).Results: A total of 2351 eligible participants completed the survey, 65.6% of whom were female, and their mean age was 21.9 years old (SD = 2.7). Almost all had sufficient knowledge (86.6%) and good preventive practice (92.8%) towards COVID-19; however, there was also a rather low level of positive attitude recorded, at 68.8%. The multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that the female participants, and the receiving of information from the official websites, reported a significantly higher level of good practice. Besides, students who had a high level of sufficient knowledge and positive attitude towards COVID-19 were more likely to have good preventive practices (All p< 0.001).Conclusion: The findings demonstrated good preventive practice towards COVID-19; however, sufficient knowledge and positive attitude were lower. Therefore, it is an identified requirement to continue with additional education and training strategies to offer a better understanding and positive viewpoint of the pandemic for all students, including healthcare students.Keywords: attitude, COVID-19, knowledge, practice, healthcare students, Vietnam

Psoriasis (PsO), an immune-mediated inflammatory skin disorder, has substantial negative impact on patients' quality of life. Secukinumab, an approved treatment for moderate-to-severe plaque PsO, has an established long-term efficacy and safety profile. This study aims to provide real-world evidence of long-term effectiveness and retention rate of secukinumab in Vietnamese patients with PsO.This retrospective, observational study collected medical records of adult patients with moderate-to-severe PsO receiving secukinumab treatment from Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Dermato-Venereology. The primary objective was to evaluate secukinumab effectiveness in PsO as measured by 75% improvement in psoriasis area and severity index (PASI 75) at month 12. Secondary objectives were PASI 90/100, absolute PASI ≤ 3 and ≤ 5, Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI), and retention rate over 48 months.In total, 232 patients with moderate-to-severe PsO met inclusion criteria; 68.1% were male, with median age and age of onset of 39 and 27.5 years, respectively. Median time from onset of PsO to secukinumab treatment was 120 months, 95.3% were prior biologics/disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs naive and 41.4% received concomitant therapies for PsO; 82.3% had national insurance coverage. At month 12, 93.9% of patients achieved PASI 75 (primary endpoint); 80.2/56.9% achieved PASI 90/100; 91.4 and 84.8% patients achieved absolute PASI ≤ 5 and ≤ 3, respectively. The response was sustained over 48 months, with 91.9%/78.0%/52.0% of patients achieving PASI 75/90/100, 89.5% and 82.1% patients achieving absolute PASI ≤ 5 and ≤ 3, respectively. At month 12, 61.4% of patients achieved DLQI 0/1 which was sustained up to month 48 (69.2%). Secukinumab adherence rate of 84.9% at month 12 dropped to 34.2% at month 48. Patients receiving concomitant therapy and national insurance showed higher adherence rate.Secukinumab demonstrated long-term effectiveness in real-world Vietnamese patients with moderate-to-severe PsO, with treatment adherence being higher in patients having concomitant therapies and national insurance.

High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) involves bursts of high-intensity exercise interspersed with lower-intensity exercise recovery. HIIT may benefit cardiometabolic health in people with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).We aimed to examine the safety, feasibility, and efficacy of 12-weeks of supervised HIIT compared with a sham-exercise control (CON) for improving aerobic fitness and peripheral insulin sensitivity in biopsy-proven NASH.Participants based in the community [(n = 14, 56 ± 10 years, BMI 39.2 ± 6.7 kg/mThere were no HIIT-related adverse events and HIIT was globally feasible [program completion 75%, global adherence 100% (including adherence to session 95.4 ± 7.3%, interval intensity 95.3 ± 6.0% and duration 96.8 ± 2.4%)]. A large between-group effect was observed for exercise capacity [mean difference 134.2 s (95% CI 19.8, 248.6 s), ƞHIIT is safe, feasible and efficacious for improving exercise capacity and peripheral insulin sensitivity in people with NASH.Australian New Zealand Clinical Trial Registry (anzctr.org.au) identifier ACTRN12616000305426 (09/03/2016).

Introduction: Since the early 20th century, findings have demonstrated that psoriasis is frequently associated with atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases. The Carotid Intima-Media Thickness (CIMT) is a surrogate marker of atherosclerotic vascular disease. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the CIMT in patients with psoriasis and investigate its correlation with the clinical features. Methods: The present case-control study involved 70 patients with psoriasis who visited Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Dermato-Venereology from September 2018 to April 2019 and 35 healthy subjects. Serum triglyceride, total cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels were measured in both groups. Linear Doppler scanning was performed to evaluate the CIMT of the common, internal, and external carotid arteries and the presence of atherosclerotic plaques. Results: The mean CIMT value in psoriasis patients was significantly higher than that of controls [0.59 mm (0.53 - 0.71) vs. 0.54 mm (0.52 - 0.62), respectively, p = 0.036]. Multiple linear regression analysis revealed a significant correlation between the CIMT and age (p = 0.043) and CIMT and the Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (p < 0.0001). Moreover, the mean number of atherosclerotic plaques in psoriasis patients was significantly higher than that in controls [0.27 ± 0.68 vs. 0.03 ± 0.17, respectively, p = 0.035]. Conclusion: Elderly patients with severe psoriasis should be evaluated carefully regarding CIMT and atherosclerotic plaques, as these signs are representative of increased cardiovascular risk.

Remdesivir is an antiviral drug used to treat coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) with a relatively obscure cardiac effect profile. Previous studies have reported bradycardia associated with remdesivir, but few have examined its clinical characteristics. The objective of this study was to investigate remdesivir associated bradycardia and its associated clinical characteristics and outcomes.This is a single-institution retrospective study that investigated bradycardia in 600 patients who received remdesivir for treatment of COVID-19. A total of 375 patients were included in the study after screening for other known causes of bradycardia (atrioventricular [AV] nodal blockers). All patients were analyzed for episodes of bradycardia from when remdesivir was initiated up to 5 days after completion, a time frame based on the drug's putative elimination half-life. Univariate and multivariate statistical tests were conducted to analyze the data.The mean age of the sample was 56.63 ± 13.23 years. Of patients who met inclusion criteria, 49% were found to have bradycardia within 5 days of remdesivir administration. Compared to the cohort without a documented bradycardic episode, patients with bradycardia were significantly more likely to experience inpatient mortality (22% vs 12%, p = 0.01). The patients with bradycardia were found to have marginally higher serum D-dimer levels (5.2 vs 3.4 µg/mL, p = 0.05) and were more likely to undergo endotracheal intubation (28% vs 14%, p = 0.008). Male sex, hyperlipidemia, and bradycardia within 5 days of completing remdesivir were significant predictors of inpatient mortality. No significant differences in length of stay were found.Bradycardia that occurs during or shortly after remdesivir treatment in COVID-19 patients may be associated with an increased rate of in-hospital mortality. However, COVID-19 and its cardiac complications cannot be excluded as potential contributors of bradycardia in the present study. Future studies are needed to further delineate the cardiac characteristics of COVID-19 and remdesivir.

Some G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) demonstrate biased signaling, where ligands of the same receptor differentially activate specific downstream signaling pathways over others. Ligand-specific receptor phosphorylation by GPCR kinases (GRKs) is one mechanism underlying this phenomenon. Recent evidence demonstrates that GPCRs traffic to and signal from subcellular compartments beyond the plasma membrane, a paradigm termed location bias. Here, we show that GRKs translocate to endosomes following stimulation of the chemokine receptor CXCR3 and other GPCRs. The GRK recruitment patterns at the plasma membrane and endosome are distinct and depend on the identity of the ligand used to activate the receptor. Using cells deficient of GRKs, we demonstrate that biased ligands have unique signaling profiles upon rescue of location-specific GRK isoforms. Our work highlights a role of the GRKs in location-biased GPCR signaling and demonstrates the complex interactions between ligand, GRK isoform and cellular location that contribute to biased signaling.

The cutaneous side effects of COVID-19 vaccines are being studied and their immunogenicity is most likely linked to the pathophysiology of psoriasis. Although uncommon, several cases of exacerbation and new onset of psoriasis have been reported globally after vaccination. To contribute to the literature on this intriguing topic, we present three cases of de novo psoriasis in adult patients following COVID-19 vaccination. Our observations and a literature review show that this occurrence is independent of the type and brand of vaccines.

Purpose: We describe a diagnostic procedure suitable for scheduling (re-)vaccination against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus type 2 (SARS-CoV-2) according to individual state of humoral immunization. Methods: To clarify the relation between antibody measurements and immune protection, we monitored 124 individuals before, during and six months after vaccination with Spikevax (Moderna). Antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 spike (S1) protein receptor binding domain (S1-AB) and against nucleocapsid antigen were measured by chemiluminescent immunoassay (Roche). Virus-neutralizing activities were determined by surrogate assays (NeutraLISA, Euroimmune; cPass, GenScript). Neutralization of SARS-CoV-2 in cell culture (full virus NT) served as ex-vivo correlate for humoral immunity. Results: Vaccination responses varied considerably. Six months after 2nd vaccination, participants still positive for full virus NT were safely discriminated by S1-AB levels ≥1000 U/ml. The full virus NT-positive fraction of participants with S1-AB levels 70 % as determined by surrogate assays (NeutraLISA or cPas). Participants that were full virus NT-negative and therefore presumably insufficiently immune protected could be identified by the above procedure with a sensitivity of >83 % and a specificity of >95 %. Conclusion: In summary, the described diagnostic tool strategy enables individualized (re-)vaccination schedules based on simple and rapid measurement of serum-based SARS-CoV-2 antibody levels. Our data apply only to WUHAN-type SARS-CoV-2 virus and the current version of mRNA vaccine from Moderna. Adaptation to other vaccines and more recent SARS-CoV-2 strains will require modification of cut-offs and re-evaluation of sensitivity/specificity.Study numbers: 2021-1455 and 2020-1259_1, Ethics Committee Med. Generalized erythrodermic psoriasis (GEP) is a rare and potentially life-threatening variant of psoriasis. Possible triggers that have been identified to date include poorly controlled psoriasis, medications, abrupt discontinuation of anti-psoriatic treatment, and underlying systemic illnesses. However, vaccines have rarely been reported to exacerbate GEP. Herein, we report two unique cases with GEP exacerbated following a dose of the BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine for COVID-19 (as their second dose, the first being the mRNA-1273 vaccine). Based on our observations and a literature review, vaccination was considered the most likely trigger of GEP due to the close temporal relationship between the second vaccination and the onset of GEP.

Purpose of the paper: This study aims to consider the Covid impact on stock – price volatility of different industry groups in Vietnam by using the M-GARCH model.

With the changing demands of higher quality teaching profession, especially the increasing trend of studying at private universities, many fail to produce desired effects, even when guided by organizational change models. Educational specialists, educators, academics, school administrators, and even scientists have all contributed to the development of change management as a significant concept. The purpose of this study is to apply Kotter's 8-step model of change to educational administration of private universities in Ho Chi Minh City. Change efforts focus on enhancing faculty capacity to support diverse student success. The change process is planned using Kotter's (1996) eight-step change model and is therefore a regulated, linear, sequential change process. The initial steps were reviewed, and the strategies considered workable. This approach enhances faculty acquisition and project success. Characterization of each step provides insight into ways to apply Kotter's model of change in higher education settings.

COVID-19 vaccines are put forward as the most promising solution for combatting the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to assess the willingness to get vaccinated against COVID-19 by using the Health Belief Model (HBM) and the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) as a theoretical framework. A self-administered questionnaire was considered among Vietnamese adult patients between March and May 2021. The dependent variable was a COVID-19 vaccine acceptance, the hierarchical multivariable regression was done to assess the fit of the predictor model and the associations of variables. A total of 462 participants completed the questionnaire, with 80.5% vaccination intention. A model containing demographics, as well as HBM and TPB variables, demonstrated to be a predictor of intention to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, interpreting 39% of the variance (adjusted R2 = 0.39). For HBM and TPB constructs, respondents were more likely to accept vaccination if they had higher level of cues to action, self-efficacy, and a lower level of the perceived barriers (all P
