Abstract

The LAGO (Latin American Giant Observatory) observatory is an experiment that spans over Latin America in a wide range of latitudes that gives different rigidity cut offs for the enter of cosmic rays in the atmosphere. The motivation of the Observatory is to study atmospheric radiation and space weather through the measurement of the secondary emission of low energy cosmic rays at ground level using Water Cherenkov Detectors (WCD). Abstract

The Latin American Giant Observatory (LAGO) is an extended cosmic ray observatory composed by a network of water-Cherenkov detectors spanning over different sites located at significantly different altitudes (from sea level up to more than $5000$\,m a.s.l.) and latitudes across Latin America, covering a huge range of geomagnetic rigidity cut-offs and atmospheric absorption/reaction levels. This detection network is designed to measure the temporal evolution of the radiation flux at ground level with extreme detail. The LAGO project is mainly oriented to perform basic research in three branches: high energy phenomena, space weather and atmospheric radiation at ground level. LAGO is built and operated by the LAGO Collaboration, a non-centralized collaborative union of more than 30 institutions from ten countries. Abstract

The Magnetic Data Acquisition System (MAGDAS) was installed in the protected Jerusalem Park in Malchingui-Ecuador in October of 2012, under the joint collaboration between Kyushu University of Japan and the Quito Astronomical Observatory of the National Polytechnic School of Ecuador. In this paper, we describe the installation process and present the preliminary data obtained with the MAGDAS equipment. The behavior of the four components, D, H, Z and F allow us to see the importance of having the Ecuador station where the magnetic field has not been systematically measured before, in valuable contribution to study of the equatorial atmosphere.

Abstract

International audience; The aim of this work is to study the intra and inter-annual Temporal Stability of the Within-Field Variability (TSWFV) of Total Soluble Solids (TSS) as an estimate of grapes quality. The experiment was carried out on four fields (one cv. each) of the cvs Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Carménère, all of them located in the Maule Valley, Chile, under irrigated conditions. A regular sampling grid was designed within each vine fields. On each sites TSS was measured at different dates (from veraison to harvest), using a thermo-compensated reflactometer. A Kendall test (W) was used to analyse the TSWFV between all dates measured for each cv and season. A non parametric rank coefficient of correlation (Spearman) was used to analyse the relationships between sampling dates, taking as reference the harvest. Results of the study highlight the within-field variability observed in TSS. W highlights a significant intra and inter annual TSWFV and Rank coefficients of correlation were high and significant. For PV management these results are significant and show that, under simiarid conditions, TSS maps obtained 40 days before harvest present the same spatial patterns until harvest. Early maps may be used to define relevant quality zones for differential harvest.

Abstract

La elección de la ubicación y orientación de una construcción y las decisiones tomadas en las etapas de su diseño tienen un importante efecto sobre el consumo energético necesario para su funcionamiento. Este es particularmente el caso para prever el óptimo aprovechamiento de la ventilación natural en el que las decisiones tempranas determinan el potencial para el uso renovable pasivo de la energía, lo cual se traduce en los menores costos energéticos y en la disminución de la contaminación del aire interior. El cuidadoso control sobre el aprovechamiento solar también puede reducir significativamente los costos derivados del uso de equipos de refrigeración o calefacción con el objeto de optimizar la construcción de edificaciones con mínimo consumo energetico, se evalúa el comportamiento térmico durante el verano de una construcción representativa de los estándares edilicios de la ciudad de Tandil. Se presenta el análisis de las mediciones continuas y sistemáticas realizadas con sensores de temperatura y humedad en puntos específicos del interior, y de los parámetros meteorológicos externos, asociando la información mediante un modelo analítico que da cuenta de la conductividad, la radiación y la convección debida al viento. El objetivo es hallar los parámetros térmicos globales del edificio, y con ellos el flujo de calor a través de la envolvente, resolviendo el “problema inverso”. Los resultados son cotejados con los obtenidos resolviendo el “problema directo” estándar The choice of the location and orientation of a construction and the decisions made during the early stages of the design affect significantly the energy consumption necessary for its functioning. Particularly, this is the case in which the optimal use of natural ventilation is convenient to reduce energy costs and pollution of the air indoors. Careful control of the solar resource can also considerably diminish the costs derived from the use of air conditioners. The thermal behaviour of a building that is representative of the constructive procedure in Tandil city is evaluated during the summer with the purpose of optimizing future constructions that minimize the energy comsuption. The analysis of continuous and systematic temperature and humidity measurements performed with sensors in specific points inside the building and the external meteorological parameters is presented. The information collected is integrated by means of an analytical model that considers the contributions of the conductivity, radiation and convection caused by the wind. The goal is to estimate the typical thermal parameters of the building and, with them, the heat flux across the envelope, solving the “inverse problem”. Abstract

La termografía infrarroja es una herramienta fundamental en estudios cualitativos de eficiencia energética, detección de problemas de humedad y pérdidas de calor en edificios, y su uso es cada vez más frecuente. Aquí se la emplea para obtener las temperaturas superficiales, interna y externa, de las fachadas de un edificio como parte de una metodología aplicada para cuantificar las pérdidas de calor por conducción a través de la envolvente, aprovechando que el aire es transparente a la radiación infrarroja emitida por las superficies. Se encuentra que la resistencia térmica de las capas límites superficiales en los vidrios y muros es similar a las de los materiales, reduciendo significativamente la conductividad térmica efectiva de la envolvente en la construcción evaluada. Los resultados muestran la importancia de determinar cuantitativamente el flujo de calor en el lugar de emplazamiento de las edificaciones., The infrared thermography is a fundamental tool in qualitative studies of energetic efficiency, detection of humidity and heat loss problems in buildings, and its use is increasing. In this work, it is employed to obtain the internal and external surface temperatures of the facades of a particular construction as part of a methodology to quantify the losses of heat by conduction through the building envelope, taking advantage of the transparency of the air to the infrared radiation emitted by the surfaces. It is found that the thermal resistance of the boundary layers on the glass areas and walls is similar to that of the materials, thus significantly reducing the effective thermal conductivity of the envelope of the evaluated construction. Se presenta el análisis de mediciones continuas y sistemáticas de temperatura y humedad en puntos específicos del interior y las variables meteorológicas externas de un edificio público ubicado en la periferia de la ciudad de Tandil (Buenos Aires) cuya construcción es representativa de los estándares edilicios locales. La información obtenida es asociada mediante un modelo analítico que da cuenta de las contribuciones de la conductividad, radiación y convección debida al viento en la consideración de las propiedades térmicas del edificio. A partir de ellas, es posible estimar los coeficientes de la ecuación diferencial resultante que permite obtener la evolución de la temperatura interna para diferentes condiciones. El procedimiento es sencillo de realizar y da resultados útiles que pueden emplearse para corroborar la viabilidad de los materiales empleados en la construcción y el funcionamiento térmico del conjunto., The analysis of continuous and systematic measurements of temperature and humidity in specific sites within a public building and the external meteorological parameters is presented. The edifice, built with the local standards, is located in the suburbs of Tandil City (Buenos Aires, Argentina). Abstract

Abstract: Background and Aims: The susceptibility of winegrape cultivars to Botrytis cinerea is a debated topic, and the available classifications are based on professional experience rather than on experimental data. The main aim of this study was to compare and classify the susceptibility of several winegrape cultivars to B. cinerea and its relation to fruit maturity under two contrasting climatic and cropping conditions. Methods and Results: Between 2011 and 2015, three field trials were undertaken in Chile and France, including 13 common cultivars. Both the incidence and severity of the disease were evaluated at harvest, and indices of susceptibility and maturity were calculated on a per site basis. The significant difference in incidence and severity observed among cultivars led to a similar susceptibility classification in both countries. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Grenache Noir and Petit Verdot were the most resistant cultivars, whereas Gewürztraminer and Sauvignon Blanc were the most susceptible. Moreover, an exponential and positive relationship was established between indexes of susceptibility and maturity. Conclusions: The classification of cultivars according to the susceptibility to B. cinerea was similar in both countries, despite the contrasting climatic conditions and cropping practices.
