The impact of stitch density and seam type on tactile properties of seams has been investigated. Lapped seam 1 (LSa-1) using stitch class 605 and superimposed seam (SSa-2) using stitch class 514 (ASTM 6193) were constructed with four different stitch densities, namely, stitches per inch (SPI) 10, SPI 14, SPI 18 and SPI 22, and the tactile properties of seams examined by evaluating the characteristics of seams such as seam compression, seam thickness, seam bending behaviour and surface friction of seams. From the study, the optimized stitch density has been identified as SPI 10 for producing soft seam. Seam class and stitch density play a vital role in determining seam comfort properties.

A field experiment was conducted at Mahanandi, Nandyal, Andhra Pradesh, India during the rabi season of 2021-22 to evaluate the effect of different green manure crops on growth and yield of succeeding chickpea. The field experiment was laid out in split-plot design with four green manure crops viz., cowpea, greengram, horsegram, pillipesara along with one control were grown in situ and incorporated into the soil before sowing of chickpea crops in respective treatments and different levels of fertilizers viz., 25 % RDF (recommended dose of fertilizer), 50 % RDF, 75 % RDF and 100 % RDF were applied to study their interaction effect on growth and yield attributes, nutrient uptake and economics of succeeding chickpea. Growth attributes like plant height (40.7 and 41.2 cm), number of branches plant-1 (26.1 and 27.1), dry matter accumulation (3873 and 3642 kg ha-1) and earlier days to 50 % flowering (53.3 and 53.8 days); grain (876 and 874.6 kg ha-1), haulm (884.3 and 873.2 kg ha-1) yield was found to be highest in the treatment with the incorporation of cowpea as preceding green manure and with the application of 100 % RDF. The treatment was at par with greengram and pillipesara green manuring and with the application of 75 % RDF. Pre green manuring with cowpea and with the application of the 100 % RDF provided enhanced growth and yield parameters in chickpea than leaving the land fallow during summer season.

This research focused on the thermal comfort behaviour of polyester with respect to the type of yarn (spun, micro denier, continuous filament and hollow), linear density of the yarn (111 and 166 dtex), and the loop length of knitted fabric (0.25, 0.27 and 0.29 cm).The air permeability of continuous filament yarn fabric and micro denier yarn knitted fabrics was noted to be higher than that of spun yarn knitted fabrics. 111 dtex micro denier yarn fabric has the highest air permeability and 111 dtex spun yarn fabric the lowest air permeability value among all the other fabric samples. Comparatively, coarser spun yarn fabric has lower air permeability characteristics than finer microdenier fabric.The water permeability of the fabric shows a significant difference between the spun yarn, continuous filament yarn and Micro denier yarn knitted fabrics and between the linear density of the yarn. The water vapour permeability of spun yarn of 166 dtex single jersey fabric is higher, while the water vapour permeability of continuous filament yarn fabric of 166 dtex is lower. The thermal conductivity value is high for continuous filament polyester fabric of 100 D and low for microdenier polyester fabric of 166 dtex. Based on the statistical analysis, it is clearly shown that there are significant differences between the three different polyester yarn fabrics of two different denier of the same fabric. Furthermore, the count and different polyester yarn affect the comfort properties of single jersey fabrics.

The thermal resistance of fabrics containing silk showed a higher value in comparison with lyocell-rich blends. The water vapour permeability, absorbency and wickability of lyocell and lyocell-rich blends were found to be superior as compared to 100% silk fabrics. With respect to aesthetic comfort properties, the drape of the lyocell rich fabrics was good in comparison with 100% silk fabrics.

In this paper, an effort is made to reduce the size, weight and cost of Electric Vehicles (EVs) with the reconfiguration of propulsion motor topology. The new machine topology has been advantageously used to replace the conventional motors. A Twin Rotor Axial Flux Induction Machine (TRAFIM) having higher power densities, shorter axial lengths than classical Radial Flux Machines have been implemented in this work. This further reduces the other complexities associated with the mechanical differential which is indented to provide different speeds to two wheels in necessary conditions. The performance of EV has been remarkably improved with the proposed reconfiguration. This paper presents a comprehensive analysis of an EV with the adoption of Twin Rotor Axial Flux Induction Machine (TRAFIM).

The scarce rainfall zone of Andhra Pradesh faces problems of inadequate moisture availability and proper crop stand for successful crop production that results in partial or total failure of crop with occurrence of mild to severe drought. Therefore, adoption of proper spacings and proper land configurations are required in order to reduce yield losses. So, the purpose of this study is to find optimum spacing and suitable land configuration for maximizing the groundnut yield. A field experiment was conducted to study the performance of groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) to different land configurations and spacings on sandy loam soils at College Farm, Agricultural College, Mahanandi during rabi, 2021-2022. The experiment was laid out in strip plot design with two factors each having four treatments and replicated thrice. The results revealed that the growth parameters viz., plant height, dry matter accumulation, LAI and number of branches were recorded higher with the land configurations corrugation, flat bed with crop compaction, ridges and furrows and flat bed with crop compaction, respectively. Spacing 30 x 10 cm recorded higher plant height, dry matter accumulation and LAI and higher number of branches were observed with 60 x 10 cm spacing. Among different interactions treatment combination ridge and furrow with 30 x 10 cm spacing, flat bed with crop compaction with 30 x 10 cm spacing, flat bed with crop compaction with 60 x 10 cm spacing has recorded higher plant height, dry matter accumulation, LAI and number of branches, respectively. Higher pod and haulm yields were observed with the land configuration flat bed with crop compaction and 30 x 10 cm spacing. Treatment combination flat bed with crop compaction and 30 x 10 cm spacing has recorded higher pod and haulm yields.

This study is on the nutritional efficiency of the host plants viz., Corchorus olitorius, C. capsularis, Hibiscus cannabinus, H. sabdariffa, Crotoloria juncea and Boemheria nivea and their biochemical influences on Bihar hairy caterpillar Spilosoma obliqua (Walker) (Lepidoptera: Arctiidae). The results revealed that the nutritional and biochemical parameters varied significantly with the infested and uninfested host plants. The growth rate of 5th instar larvae varied from 13.06 mg/ day in B. nivea to 17.90 mg/ day in C. olitorius; it was 14.80 ± 0.69, 16.74 ± 0.74, 14.94 ± 0.29 and 15.06 ± 0.26 mg/ day on C. capsularis, H. cannabinus, H. sabdariffa, C. juncea and B. nivea, respectively. Thus, C. olitorius appeared to be the most suitable food source for growth and development of S. obliqua. Peroxidase and polyphenol oxidase were elicited by the infestation of S. obliqua indicating their role in insect defence. Higher phenol and peroxidase content in the host plants adversely affected the food utilization indices. This is the possible explanation for variation in food consumption and development of S. obliqua; and it might be due to significant differences in the biochemical contents of the evaluated bast fibre crops.

The paper investigates the role of complete velocity slip on the axisymmetric peristaltic transport of Ellis fluid through a uniform flexible tube considering the long wavelength and tiny Reynolds number assumptions. The equations governing the axisymmetric flow are solved and provided the analytical expressions for axial velocity, stream function, pressure difference for shear thickening and shear thinning fluids and the effect of emerging parameters on the pressure rise with time averaged flux and stream line patterns have been discussed graphically. The trapping phenomenon results showed that the size of trapping bolus enhances with increasing values of first and second slip parameters.

Yellow mite is a serious pest of many field and horticultural crops including jute. As repeated use of acaricides possess problem of resistance, alternatively, the infectivity of talc based formulation of three entomopathogens, i.e., Lecanicillium lecanii (Ll), Isaria fumosorosea (= Paecilomyces fumosoroseus ) (Pf) and Beauveria bassiana (Bb) at 4x10 8 cfu/ml, and 6x10 8 cfu/ml concentrations were evaluated against yellow mite under laboratory condition. In both the concentrations, Pf and Bb recorded significantly higher mortality of yellow mite than Ll. At 3-DPT (days post treatment) significantly highest mortality was observed in Pf (30.35%) followed by Bb (21.59%) and Ll (4.87%). Later on at 4 and 5-DPT period the level of mortality in Pf and Bb treated population was at par but significantly higher than Ll. At 5-DPT, Pf recorded maximum cumulative mortality (40.92%) at par with Bb (35.99%) and significantly higher than Ll (12.92%). Significantly higher cumulative mortality at 6x10 8 CFU/l concentration during 5 days after treatment was 34.35%. The infectivity of talc based formulation of Ll at both the concentrations was significantly less than Pf and Bb. Higher infectivity of I. fumosorosea indicates it to be ideal for yellow mite control in jute.

Poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) – based solid electrolyte films with potassium thiocyanate (KSCN) were prepared by solution-cast technique. The pure and KSCN- doped PVA films have been investigated for the charge transport mechanism in the polymer electrolyte system by using the DC conductivity (The composition dependence and temperature dependence in 300-385K range) and transference number measurements. The graphs related to conductivity – temperature shows that an increase in conductivity with respect to rise in the temperature. At room temperature, the conductivity of the (PVA+KSCN) electrolyte is 102 times greater than that of pure PVA. The transference number data exhibit that the charge transport in this polymer electrolyte system is predominantly due to ions. The ionic transference numbers (tion) lies in the range of 0.92 to 0.99 for the films of PVA with KSCN in the wt% ratios (90:10), (80:20) and (70:30).

Background & Aim: The aim of the present study is to the correlation of suicide note in relation to the manner of deaths. All the suicidal deaths occurred in the, GGH, Guntur and its surrounding area by suicide brought to the mortuary. In our study, the suicide notes are taken and an attempt to analyse the psychological, social, economic conditions leading to the suicide of the person. The suicide note is analysed in terms of the number of pages, number of lines per page, number of word per line, the font size of the words, grammatical errors, the language, the number of hand writing, the manner of addressing etc which are having significance in analysing the mental status of the concerned individual. Results: A total of 30 suicide notes were available. A majority of suicide note was in age group of 15–40 years (76%) and most were men (50%). All suicide notes were handwritten, the majority (70%) in regional language Telugu. Length of notes varied from just few words to few pages. Contents of suicide notes included apology/shame/guilt (80%), love for those left behind (55%) and instruction regarding practical affairs (23%). Most have blamed none for the act (50%). 23% mentioned that they are committing suicide to prove their innocence. 32% mentioned a last wish.Conclusion: The majority of suicidal note contained “guilt” which is a strong indicator of possible depression in deceased. Creating awareness about suicide among public and ensuring access to professionals trained in suicide prevention is need of the hour in this part of the world.

This study conducted to find out the electronic information/resources access and seeking behavior of engineering college students in Vellore district. Objective- of the paper is to identify the availability of e-resources, awareness, usage level, level of satisfaction and barriers during access of the students. Methodology-a systematic questionnaire designed and distributed among the Engineering College library users. After data collection analysis of the study done. Findings – It is observed from the data analysis most of the UG Students are using Google as their search engine and they prefer DELNET also on the other hand PG students and faculty prefer all subscribed resources for their teaching and learning. There is a less awareness about the commercial resources among the students. Suggestions were given to improve the infrastructure and need orientation programme for all category of users.

In this article, an Impedance Source Inverter (ISI) based asynchronous motor drive has been proposed. The unique feature of ISI has been exploited to boost up the input dc voltages given to the two inverters on either side of the asynchronous motor drive. The modulating signals are generated using advanced SVPWM techniques. The switching pulses for the ISI are generated by including shoot through the state using a simple boost control strategy. An attempt has been made in this work to analyze the performance of ISI-based asynchronous motor drive with different modulating signals, and a simulation model has been developed to verify the boost functionality of ISI. The results have been compared for various modulating signals.

Uranium mineralization occurs adjacent to the unconformity between Paleoproterozoic granite and Meso- to Neoproterozoic cover sediments in Chitrial prospect of Cuddapah Basin in Indian shield. Hydrothermal activity in the granite is evident by the presence of hydrothermal veins and associated wallrock alteration in the unconformity zone (0–5 m below unconformity), shallow zone (5–100 m), and deep zone (100–120 m). Hydrothermal alteration of granite has produced chlorite in all depth, epidote in the deep zone, muscovite commonly in the shallow zone and illite predominantly in the unconformity zone. Pitchblende and coffinite are associated with sulphides and carbonaceous matter filling micro fractures and occurring along grain boundaries in the granite. Fluid inclusion study of quartz from hydrothermal veins reveals the presence of primary aqueous inclusions (biphase, monophase, polyphase) with a wide range of salinity from 0.2 to >23.2 wt.% (low–high). The fluid composition indicates that MgCl2 is present in all depth zones, CaCl2 in the deep zone and KCl–NaCl in the unconformity zone. Th of aqueous biphase inclusions is in the range of 275.0–78.9°C. Available evidence suggests convective circulation of basinal brine between cover sediments and basement granite during which uranium was mobilized from granite and precipitated in the unconformity zone.

This paper intends to develop an electronic differential controller (EDC), which replaces the traditional heavy and lossy mechanical differential present in an electric vehicle (EV). Moreover, it should be capable to provide different torques for wheels according to the needs of the concerned vehicle. EDC uses the steering and throttle signal commands from the user and also the speed of wheels for controlling the torques of a two axial flux induction motors. The developed control system should improve the robustness of vehicle in all the system conditions and uncertainties for achieving a better stability and performance. The simulation of the controller is done by using Matlab/Simulink and the results obtained are verified such that it meets both the static and dynamic requirements of an EV.

The fuzzy logic control draws the attention of Researchers to improve the system performance, when the control strategy involves ambiguity. Fuzzy means, things are not clear; hence the fuzzy logic control determines the proper control actions for non-deterministic systems. The article is aimed to determine the small signal model of a d.c shunt motor using laboratory based testing, and to design a PI controller for improving the system performance using Ziegler-Nichols tuning method. The performance of the machine can still need some improvement, which can be attained using fuzzy logic controller. The dynamic and steady state performance can be enhanced even for load disturbance. The fuzzy controller is designed with two input membership functions and one output function of triangle shape with twenty five fuzzy rules. The case study have been performed with simulation results. The machine is tested with two major cases, one is comparative analysis of ZN tuned PI controller with FLC in two cases one without load disturbance and the other is with load disturbance. The performance of the machine with fuzzy logic controller is robust and much superior to other method for both the cases. The Obtained simulation results are as follows −100% steady state error for the both without & with controller by consideration of without and with one percent load disturbance, while ZN tuned PI gives the settling time of 12 s with 3% steady state error and 12 s with 0.5% steady state error for without and with one percent load disturbance respectively FLC gives settling time of 0.82 s with zero steady state error and 0.9 s with zero steady state error for without and with one percent load disturbance respectively.

In general, a quantitative interpretation of geophysical data yields information on the nature of subsurface structures of geologic interest besides depth of the source and the associated physical property contrast. However, all geophysical interpretation invariably incurs an inherent ambiguity including VLF-EM method. Techniques such as Karous-Hjelt (K H) current density, Hilbert transform etc. are in vogue to estimate the depth to the source that are either qualitative or semi quantitative. Here, we present a comparative analysis of the depth derived from VLF-EM signals by different methods over a uranium rich basement fractures of Raigarh District, Chhattisgarh, India. The obtained results are based on techniques that are not very common in VLF-EM data interpretation such as Euler deconvolution (ED), Hartley spectral analysis and analytical signal approach of denoised in-phase component realized by Empirical Ensemble Mode Decomposition (EEMD). The estimated depth from ED and Hartley spectral analysis range 10–62 m and 12–40 m respectively are compared with K H pseudo section, Hilbert transform and drilling depth. Overall, the results of the aforesaid techniques have shown satisfactory comparison wherein the Hilbert transform of EEMD de-noised in-phase component of traverse T1 (35 m), Hartely power spectrum of the principal profile PPQ (40 m) and the radially averaged power spectrum (38.8 m and 40 m) are close to the drilling depth. Therefore, the results obtained by methods presented emphasize that these techniques are equally applicable to VLF-EM signals for estimation of depth to subsurface conductors.

This study aims to present a scientometric analysis of the journal titled vikalpa: the journal for decision makers” for the period from 2008 to 2017. The present study was conducted with an aim to provide a summary of research activity in the current journal and characterize its most important aspects. The analysis covers mainly the year wise distribution of articles, category wise classification of papers, authorship patterns of papers, the degree of collaboration, most prolific contributions of papers, institution-wise distribution of contributions and geographical distribution of papers of the journal. The analysis showed that 325 papers were published in the journal of vikalpa: the journal for decision makers” for the period from 2008 to 2017. The maximum number of publication was recorded in 2014 (39 articles, 12.00%) while the minimum was in the year 2017 (21 articles, 6.46%). The authorship pattern was studied to determine the percentage of single and multiple authorship. It is observed from the study that a single author 114(35.08%) paper occupied the 2nd rank. Two author paper 132(40.62%) occupied in 1st rank. Three author paper 41 (12.62 %) occupied in 3rd rank and more than three author paper 38(11.69%) occupied in 4th rank. The study exposes that during 2008-17 the highest proportion of papers were by single authors 114 followed by papers with two authors 211, and more than three authors 325. Among the ten years of the study period, the highest degree of collaboration occurred in the year of 2012. The growth rate is 0.72 in 2008 and which decreased up to 0.07 in 2017. The mean relative growth rate for the periods of 2008 to 2017 the relative growth rate of 0.223. This study period resulted that the mean doubling time for total output 4.088 years. It is observed from the study that the highest number of contributors is belonging to India with 270 articles out of 325 total articles published and its percentage is 83.08 %.
