It was demonstrated experimentally that the introduction of a buffer gas into the vacuum chamber altered the observed geometric parameters of the expansion of a plasma in the presence of resonance line radiation of Mg XI. The results were interpreted assuming preferential excitation of the 1s2p1P1 level of Mg XI not by electron impact from the ground state, but by excitation via recombination processes.

Experimental results are reported of investigations of the optical properties of the plasma produced when an AI2O3 target is irradiated in vacuum by a high-power neodymiunr-glass laser system. It is shown that a number of 0 VIII and 0 VII ion levels with principal quantum numbers n = 2, 3, 4 are inversely populated. The gain at the wavelength λ ≃ 29 nm (4 → 3 transition, O VIII) under the experimental conditions is of the order of 0.01 cm-1. For the heliumlike ions O VII, in a transition with the same principal quantum numbers (ls4p1P1 → ls3s1S0, λ ≃ 36.9 nm), the gain is of the order of ∼ 10-2–10-1 cm-1, depending on the electron density.

An experimental investigation was made of the optical characteristics of a plasma formed as a result of irradiation of an Al2O3 target in vacuum by high-power neodymium laser radiation. A study was made of helium-like oxygen ions and it was established that a recombination mechanism of the population of the levels could give rise to a gain of ~ 10−2 cm−1 for the n = 4→n = 3 transition, where n is the principal quantum number.

The effect of a long-term (14 days) combined introduction of mestranol and noiethinodrel in contraceptive doses on the activity of pentosophosphate routes enzymes of the carbohydrates metabolism, that of acid and basic ribonucleases and on the level of summary nucleinic acids in the uterus and liver in sexually mature female-rats was studied. It was found that the concentration of summary nucleinic acids in the tissues increases under the effect of the drug, the oxidative reactions enzymes become more active, while the activity of non-oxidative reactions enzymes of the pentosophosphate route and of acid and basic endoribonucleases in inhibited.

Measurements were made of the ratio of the intensities of resonant lines of helium-like oxygen ions as a function of the distance from the target surface under conditions of expansion of a laser plasma into vacuum and helium. A comparison between the experimental data indicated that additional excitation of the O VII levels is recorded when the plasma expands into helium. The results are interpreted on the basis of charge transfer between oxygen H-like ions and excited helium ions.
