Search

A search for a new Z^{'} gauge boson associated with (un)broken B-L symmetry in the keV-GeV mass range is carried out for the first time using the missing-energy technique in the NA64 experiment at the CERN SPS. From the analysis of the data with 3.22×10^{11} electrons on target collected during 2016-2021 runs, no signal events were found. This allows us to derive new constraints on the Z^{'}-e coupling strength, which, for the mass range 0.3≲m_{Z^{'}}≲100 MeV, are more stringent compared to those obtained from the neutrino-electron scattering data.

The possibility of creating a laboratory UV photolithography setup with the help of commercially available components, such as optical-mechanical positioners and UV (ultraviolet) objective lenses, is discussed. Existing technical solutions concerning the optical systems of optical lithography, which rely on object‒image reduction, are considered. The main trends in the design of such systems based on lens optics are analyzed. The theoretical and practical aspects underlying the design of similar systems are examined taking into account the basic conditions of image obtainment: congruence to the initial object, ray-path telecentricity, and achievement of the required parameters by linear fields and resolution.

The results of a comprehensive study of the Galactic open cluster NGC 6800 are presented. The positions of stars to a limiting magnitude B ≃ 16 . 5 in an 80’ × 80’ field centered at the cluster were measured on eight plates from the Pulkovo normal astrograph with a maximum epoch difference of 57 years. The measurements were performed with the Pulkovo “Fantasy” automated measuring system. The corresponding field from the 2MASS catalogue was used as an additional plate. As a result, the relative proper motions of stars were obtained with a root-mean-square error of 3.0 mas yr−1. A catalogue of BV and JHK magnitudes for objects in the investigated region was compiled from available published resources. The astrometric selection of cluster members was made by the maximum likelihood method. An individual cluster membership probability of a star P ≥ 60% served as the first selection criterion. The position of a star on the photometric color–magnitude (V ~ B − V, J ~ J − K s ) diagrams was considered as the second selection criterion. On the basis of these criteria, it was established that 109 stars are members of NGC 6800, These data were used to refine the physical parameters of the cluster: the mean reddening E(B − V) = 0 m . 40, the true distance modulus (V − M V )0 = 10 . 05, and the cluster age ~250 Myr. The luminosity and mass functions were constructed. The position of the center of the cluster NGC 6800 was improved: α = 19h27m11 . s 2 and δ = +25°07’24〃(2000). The catalogue of relative proper motions for stars in the field is available in electronic form only.

The experimental studies on hardness of unfilled polycarbonates and also of filled polycarbonate and polyamide in lateral bending mode of the specified cyclic deformation were made. The influence of technological gap on fatigue properties error was found experimentally. There were investigated the dependence of stress on defomations when lateral bending and the possibility of describing it with linear and exponential laws. Hardness limits of plastics deformations and stresses were obtained.

The authors propose a method for testing plastics endurance under plane transverse bending with a given cyclic deformation. The paper describes the relations for the calculation of the amount of deflection, rotation angles of the end parts of a sample and the technological gap d between the pins in movable supports and a model for the transverse bending of a sample, the properties of which are given by linear-elastic and nonlinear elastic (according to power law) models. To determine the dependence of stresses on the number of cycles before sample failure, the authors propose the method for estimating stress with the use of the dependence of stresses on the number of cycles before failure and stress-deformation dependence, obtained in quasi-static tests under "instantaneous" loading.

The results of a comprehensive study of the Galactic open cluster NGC 2323 (M50) are presented. The positions of stars to a limiting magnitude {ie74-1} in a {ie74-2} area centered on the cluster were measured on six plates from the Pulkovo normal astrograph with a maximum epoch difference of 60 yr. The measurements were performed with the Pulkovo “Fantasy” automated measuring system upgraded in 2010. The corresponding areas from the USNO-A2.0, USNO-B1, and 2MASS catalogues were used as additional plates. As a result, the relative proper motions of stars were obtained with a root-mean-square error of 5.85 mas yr−1. A catalogue of UBV and JHK magnitudes for objects in the investigated area was compiled from available published resources. The astrometric selection of cluster members was made by the maximum likelihood method. A high individual cluster membership probability of a star (P ≥ 80%) served as the first selection criterion. The position of a star on the photometric color-magnitude (V ∝ (B-V), J ∝ (J-K)) diagrams of the cluster was considered as the second criterion. The position of an object on the color-color ((U-B)-(B-V), (J-H)-(J-K)) diagrams served as the third criterion. On the basis of these criteria, it was established that 508 stars are members of NGC 2323. These data were used to refine the physical parameters of the cluster: the mean reddening {ie74-3}, the true distance modulus {ie74-4}, and the cluster age of about 140 Myr from the grid of isochrones computed by the Padova group for solar chemical composition. Two tables contain the catalogues of proper motions and photometry for stars in the area. The luminosity and mass functions were constructed. The cluster membership of red and blue giants, variable, double, and multiple stars was considered. The position of the cluster center was improved: {ie74-5}, δ = −08°20′16″(2000.0).

We present the results of our comprehensive study of the Galactic open star cluster NGC 6866. The positions of stars in the investigated region have been obtained with the “Fantasy” automatic measuring machine from 10 plates of the normal astrograph at the Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory. The size of the investigated field is 40′ × 40′, the limiting magnitude is B ∼ 16·m6, and the maximum epoch difference is 79 yr. For 1202 field stars, we have determined the relative proper motions with an rms error of 2.5 mas yr−1. Out of them, 423 stars may be considered cluster members with a probability P > 70% according to the astrometric criterion. Photometric diagrams have been used as an additional criterion. We have performed two-color BV CCD photometry of stars with the Pulkovo ZA-320M mirror astrograph. The U magnitudes from the literature have also been used to construct the two-color diagrams. A total of 267 stars have turned out to be members of NGC 6866 according to the two criteria. We present refined physical parameters of the cluster and its age estimate (5.6 × 108 yr). The cluster membership of red and blue giants, variable, double, and multiple stars is considered. We have found an almost complete coincidence of the positions of one of the stars in the region (a cluster nonmember) and a soft X-ray source in the ROSAT catalog. The “Fantasy” automatic measuring machine is described in the Appendix.

The results of the complex study of galactic open cluster Trumpler 2 are presented. In order to obtain the proper motions the positions of 2600 stars up to the limit magnitude B ~ 16.25 mag in the area 80x80 arcmin around the cluster were measured on 6 plates with the maximal epoch difference of 63 years. The root-mean error of the relative proper motions is 4.2 mas/yr. The catalogue of BV magnitudes of all the stars in the investigated area was compiled. The paper deals with an optimization of the tritium fuel cycle of a thermonuclear reactor. A minimum of the tritium iiwentory in reactor systems was selected as a criterion of optimization. A block diagram and results of numerical calculations of the ITER fuel cycle for stationary and non stationary reactor operating conditions are presented.

To compensate the error from the Tyablikov decoupling in the high-temperature region, the decoupling parameter is chosen in the form 〈S〉Rs(T). The function Rs determines the renormalizationof the spin-wave spectrum. Its high-temperaturelimiting value can be determined from the Curie point, and the temperature dependence can be recovered on the basis of the Callen-Swendsen approach. From the point of view of calculations, the constructed theory is fairly simple, accurate, and free of several difficulties of earlier approaches.

The Li2SiO3, Li4SiO4 and LiAlO2 ceraraics are proposed to be used in the blankets of a fusion reactor for the tritium breeding. Irradiation Ceramic tablets manufactured of this materials were irradiated in a nuclear reactor with themial neutron flux about 5 1013 s-1 cm-2 up to the fluences 7.1019–1.4.1021 cm-2 in the range. Geometrical parameters, density and cornpression strength value of the tablets were studied in the experiments, along with the gas emission out of the ceramics. The results of study show the ability these materials to be used under irradiation by thermal neutrons up to the fluences above 1.4 1021 cm-2 and under burning-out of more than 2.5% of lithium. They may be considered as possible materials for blankets of fusion reactors.

The results of experiments on white rats with CCl4-induced hepatitis showed that the combined introduction of cyclophosphamide and hepatoprotectors of the plant origin (lochein, maksar, silimarin) leads to a decrease in acute toxicity and to less pronounced manifestations of hepatotoxicity of cyclophosphamide. Hepatoprotectors decrease the activity of aminotransferases, reduce the level of bilirubin, normalize the content of protein andpipids in the blood serum, and suppress the development of morphological disorders in the liver.

For elucidation of secretory cardiomyocytes adaptation to prolonged and repeated influence of changed gravity the ultrastructural and morphometrical analysis of right atrium cells was made in rats after they were exposed to primary and repeated 2G-centrifugation in ground-based experiment. It was found prolonged 2G-hypergravity resulted in hypertrophy of right atrium cardiomyocytes and stimulated of their mitochondrial associative activity and granular secretion; repeated influence induced changes differed from those after single influence.

2G-hypergravity during 33-days led to hypertrophy of cardiomyocytes (CMC) in rat left ventricle accompanied by capillary number and diameter growth. CMC ultrastructure was normal at all experimental stages. Number of intermitochondrial junctions (IMJ) rose after 33 days of 2G in subsarcolemmal pericapillary zone of CMC, indicating probably to enlarged CMC energy needs. Changes in myocardium achieved during 33 days of 2G were reversible at 39 days of 1G (except IMJ number). Repeated 5-days 2G influence (after 33 days of primary 2G influence followed by 39 days of 1G) led again to CMC hypertrophy and to IMJ number rise in all zones of mitochondria localisation. Primary 5-days 2G influence didn't result in CMC hypertrophy, IMJ number rose only in subsarcolemmal pericapillary zone.

The cholinergic, histaminergic and adrenergic features of regulation of the small muscles contractile activity in a vascular wall of a pulmonary artery in rabbits and involvement of an endothelium in these processes, were investigated. The cholinergic release phenomenon of small muscles of the rabbit pulmonary artery has a two-component character of dose dependence. The low-threshold components of Pilocarpinum relaxing effect has an endothelium-dependent nature. The important feature of histaminergic regulation of contractile activity of segments involves a direct contractile effect of histamine that is not inherent. The endothelium renders a suppressing effect on histaminergic contraction of small muscles of the rabbit pulmonary artery. A basic feature of adrenergic regulation of the pulmonary artery involves registered-beta-adrenergic contractile effects in small muscles of a vascular wall. The activation of the cAMP-dependent signal system in small muscles of a pulmonary artery is capable of rendering a contractile effect. The detected features of a regulation in the small circle can have an essential clinical-physiological value.

The results of astrometric and photometric investigations of the poorly studied open cluster NGC 1513 are presented. The proper motions of 353 stars with the root-mean-square error of 1.9 mas/yr were obtained by means of the automated measuring complex "Fantasy" scanning of 8 astrometric plates covering the time interval of 101 years. A total of 141 astrometric cluster members have been identified. BV CCD-photometry was made for the stars in a square size 17 arcmin x 17 arcmin centered on cluster. 33 stars with the high reliability were considered to be cluster members by two criteria. The estimation of NGC 1513 age is 2.54 E+08 years. The results of astrometric and photometric investigations of the open cluster NGC 7243 are presented. Proper motions of 2165 stars with root-mean-square error of 1.1 mas/yr were obtained by means of PDS scanning of astrometric plates covering the time interval of 97 years. A total of 211 cluster members down to V=15.5 mag have been identified. V and B magnitudes have been determined for 2118 and 2110 stars respectively. Estimations of mass (348Mo < M < 522Mo), age (t=2.5x10^8 yr), distance (r=698 pc) and reddening (E(B-V)=0.24) of the cluster NGC 7243 have been made., 24 pages, 15 figures. Effects of a new preparation, adaptokhit, on the intestinal microbiocenosis and some parameters of immune resistance were studied in Macaque rhesus during 13-day hypokinesia. Experimental animals were given adaptokhit as an alimentary supplement preventing dysbiotic consequences of the microecologic unbalance due to motor restraint. Results of the investigation showed certain distinctions in the intestinal microflora in the experimental and control animals as early as on day three of the experiment. Intestinal microflora of the experimental primates who daily consumed adaptokhit at 50 mg/kg of the body remained stable throughout the period of observation. In contrast, in their controls lactoflora was found to decrease in parallel to the growth of opportunistically pathogenic endobacteria including representatives of Proteus and Clostridia sp., and development of dysbacteriosis of categories II and III. Besides, in the experimental animals adaptokhit prevented decline in the proliferative activity of lymphocytes further into adaptation. Also, at the final stage of observation following canceling the preparation there were signs of normalization of the allergologic status of primates in the experimental group. Therefore, adaptokhit can be used as an alimentary supplement to strengthen the colony resistance of animals in extreme conditions.

Since the Bonn double astrograph as well as Pulkovo normal astrograph plates cover nearly 1.5 × 1.5 on the sky we have combined newly derived astrometric data from both instruments. Nearly 2,000 stars were measured down to the plate limit B ≈ 16.5. The proper-motion standard error for well-measured stars is ±0.3 mas/yr. For the membership probability solution we selected only 1363 stars, all brighter than V ≈ 15.0, with good proper motions. The membership solution yielded 446 cluster members showing convincing discrimination between the cluster and field stars. The spatial distribution of peripheral cluster members seems to be asymmetric, although, it does not indicate that the tidal radius of the cluster has been reached.

Criteria for determining the conditions for the onset of jetting for a gas dispersing into a liquid are analyzed. The results of an experimental investigation are compared with computed relations.

1. Photoinduced generation of electric current by bacteriorhodopsin, incorporated into the planar phospholipid membrane, has been directly measured with conventional electrometer techniques. 2. Two methods for bacteriorhodopsin incorporation have been developed: (a) formation of planar membrane from a mixture of decane solution of phospholipids and of the fraction of violet fragments of the Halobacterium halobium membrane (bacteriorhodopsin sheets), and (b) adhesion of bacteriorhodopsin-containing reconstituted spherical membranes (proteoliposomes) to the planar membrane in the presence of Ca2+ or some other cations. In both cases, illumination was found to induce electric current generation directed across the planar membrane, an effect which was measured by macroelectrodes immersed into electrolyte solutions on both sides of the membrane. 3. The maximal values of the transmembrane electric potential were of about 150 mV at a current of about 10(-11) A. The electromotive force measured by means of counterbalancing the photoeffect by an external battery, was found to reach the value of 300 mV. 4. The action spectrum of the photoeffect coincides with the bacteriorhodopsin absorption spectrum (maximum about 570 nm). 5. Both components of the electrochemical potential of H+ ions (electric potential and delta pH) across the planar membrane affect the bacteriorhodopsin photoelectric response in a fashion which could be expected if bacteriorhodopsin were a light-dependent electrogenic proton pump. 6. La3+ ions were shown to inhibit operation of those bacteriorhodopsin which pump out H+ ions from the La3+-containing compartment. 7. The photoeffect, mediated by proteoliposomes associated with thick planar membrane, is decreased by gramicidin A at concentrations which do not influence the planar membrane resistance in the light. On the contrary, a protonophorous uncoupler, trichlorocarbonylcyanidephenylhydrazone, decreases the photoeffect only if it is added at a concentration lowering the light resistance. The dark resistance is shown to be higher than the light one, and decreases to the light level by gramicidin. 8. A simple equivalent electric scheme consistent with the above results has been proposed.

Lipoprotein complexes, containing (1) bacteriochlorophyll reaction centers, (2) bacteriochlorophyll light-harvesting antenna or (3) both reaction centers and antenna, have been isolated from chromatophores of non-sulphur purple bacteria Rhodospirillum rubrum by detergent treatments. The method of reconstituting the proteoliposomes containing these complexes is described. Being associtated with planas azolectin membrane, ptoteoliposomes as well as intact chromatophores were found to generate a light-dependent transmembrane electric potential difference measured by Ag/AgC1 electrodes and voltmeter. The direction of the electric field inproteoliposomes can be regulated by the addition of antenna complexes to the reconstitution mixture. The reaction center complex proteoliposomes generate an electric field of a direction opposite to that in chromatophores, whereas proteoliposomes containing reaction center complexes and a sufficient amount of antenna complexes produce a potential difference as in chromatophores. ATP and inorganic pyrophosphate, besides light, were shown to be usable as energy sources for electric generation in chromatophores associated with planar membrane.

Conditions are presented for the generation and propagation of chain repolarization waves producing mechanical strains in proper ferroelectrics-ferroelastics. Experimental characteristics are given.

The influence of the number of 3, 3, 3-trifluoropropyl(methyl)siloxane links (Φ/Φ) in the cyclotetrasiloxanes ΦmD4-m, where D represents the dimethylsiloxane link and m=0–4, on the rearrangement of these compounds in acetone solution under the action of sodium siloxanolate has been studied. The rearrangement takes place with the formation of a linear polysiloxane the degradation of which yields, in addition to the initial ring, cyclosiloxanes with a different structure. The rate of rearrangement of ΦmD4-m and of the formation of a linear polysiloxane rises with an increase in m from 0 to 3. The equilibrium concentration of the linear polysiloxane formed from ΦmD4-m is inversely proportional to m. Results have been obtained on the kinetics of the formation of the cyclosiloxanes ΦmDn, where m=0–5, n=0–5, and m+n=3–6, in the rearrangement of the rings ΦD3, Φ2D2, Φ3D, and Φ4. The reactivity of the siloxane links rises in the sequence ∼ (CH3)2Si-O-Si(CH3)2 ∼

The authors present material on the optimization of diabetes mellitus treatment, with the aid of a computer. There were 320 patients under observation. Mathematical models describing the process of the patients treatment and permitting to pronosticate the blood and urine sugar level during the treatment were developed. The use of the imitation experiment on a computer permitted to test several therapeutic variants for the given patient and to choose the optimum one, leading to the most rapid compensation. The second task consisted in the maintenance in the patients of blood glucose variations within definite limits, in the course of 24 hours. An individual model of blood glucose dynamics in the course of 24 hours is set on the computer, and then the optimal scheme of insulin treatment is chosen. Practical testing of such scheme showed its efficacy.

Pigment--protein complexes of the P870 reaction centers and complexes of the bacteriochlorophyll light-harvesting antenna were isolated from the chromatophores of the non-sulfur purple bacterium Rhodospirillum rubrum by solubilization with detergents. The proteoliposomes containing the reaction centers or reaction centers and the light-harvesting antenna as well as liposomes formed from phospholipids were obtained by a self-assembly procedure using seya bean phospholipids. The freeze-fracture study showed that the proteoliposomes contain a large amount of globular particles. The particles incorporated into the two types of the proteoliposomes were distinguished in size. The globules of the reaction center and antenna complexes were bigger in size than the reaction center globules. The globular structures were not found in the liposomal membranes. The liposomes formed in the absence of the pigment--protein complexes were predominantly the multilamellar vesicles. The proteoliposomes were mostly represented as monolamellar membrane vesicles. The spatial arrangement of the reaction center complexes in the membranes is discussed.

Preparations of DNA of R6K plasmide obtained by various methods on the basis of the "clarified" lysate: by gel filtration on sepharose 4B, centrifugation in cesium chloride with ethidium bromide gradient, were analysed in the E. coli C600. S. typhimurium AG37, Pr. vulgaris 4636, S. marcescens 20-10 transformation. The frequency of transformation proved to depend on the extent of DNA purification. Factors influencing the E. coli C600 competence and the transformation efficacy (the phase of the culture growth, the concentration of cells in the mixture with DNA, theCaCl2 concentration, the time of the cell incubation at 42 degrees C) were studied. Kinetics of the phenotypical expression of the plasmide signs of ampicillin and streptomycin resistance in transformation was also studied in this work.
