Abstract

The global circulation of thermocline water and the global climate is affected by the southern termination of the Agulhas Current. The contribution of the warm, saline, surface water of Agulhas Current origin to the overall volume of the upper 1500 m of the water column in the area is very little. The distribution of water volume in temperature/salinity space in the Agulhas Retroflection is less diverse when compared to the other oceans.
