National audience; Pour répondre aux besoins croissants des systèmes électroniques en performance et en rapidité, l'électronique numérique a rejoint l'analogique pour former des circuits mixtes ultra-rapides. De cette mixité émerge la nécessité de contrôler l'intégrité des signaux échangés entre les composants, et de leur assurer une bonne protection contre les éventuelles perturbations causées par leur environnement. Cet article présente les caractéristiques des modules critiques présents sur des cartes électroniques à haute densité et à forte puissance employées pour le calcul haute performance, ainsi que les problématiques liées à leur cohabitation.

Abstract

National audience; Current imaging techniques on organs take advantageof the knowledge we have acquired but so far, few information on thefunctioning of the Spinal Cord can be found. In this endeavor, thisstudy aimed to analyze optical properties of the Spine and use theseresults to determine to what extent Near Infra-Red Spectroscopycould be used to assess neural activity in the spine. In the first step,the absorption spectrum of the spinal cord of a pig was obtained usinga spectrophotometer for the dimensioning of the main blocks of anembedded system. Secondly, adapted light sources with custom probeswere used to observe autonomic functions in the spinal cord at restand under stimulation. Results on the measured haemodynamicsshow the impact of global stimuli on a local section of the SpinalCord. The PPG of the spinal cord at rest showed an AC-to-DC ratio,below 1 %, which is a low contrast in comparison with the finger.

Abstract

International audience; This paper addresses the modeling, at a high level of abstraction, of the functionality and Signal Integrity (SI) performances in a high frequency Point-to-Point connections (P2P) system. Our model is a unique platform, which includes a functional module and a non-functional module. The functional module represents the operative behavior of the P2P system and the non-functional module, based on neural network techniques, displays the SI characteristics. Our method was demonstrated by modeling a P2P of a Universal Serial Bus 3.0 (USB 3.0) system and it was applied to the prediction of transient waveforms and eye diagrams.

Abstract

International audience; The paper presents a new method for modeling the functionality and Signal Integrity (SI) performances of bus communications at a high level of abstraction. Using neural networks, we build a SystemC/SystemC-AMS virtual platform that combines functional modules, which represent the operative behavior of the system, and non-functional modules based on neural network approximation, which display the systems SI characteristics. Our method was demonstrated by modeling a Universal Serial Bus 3.0 (USB 3.0) system and was applied to the prediction of transient waveforms and eye diagrams. Compared to a HSPICE simulation, our method achieves excellent accuracy (mean absolute error of 1%) with a much shorter simulation time (×6000 speedup).

Abstract

Little is known about the processes occurring after Spinal Cord damage. Whether permanent or recoverable, those processes have not been precisely characterized because their mechanism is complex and information on the functioning of this organ are partial. This study demonstrates the feasibility of Spinal Cord activity monitoring using Near Infra-Red Spectroscopy in a pig animal model. This animal has been chosen because of its comparable size and its similarities with humans. In the first step, optical characterization of the Spinal Cord tissues was performed in different conditions using a spectrophotometer. Optical Density was evaluated between 3.5 and 6.5 in the [500; 950] nm range. Secondly, adapted light sources with custom probes were used to observe autonomic functions in the spine. Results on the measured haemodynamics at rest and under stimulation show in real time the impact of a global stimulus on a local section of the Spinal Cord. The photoplethysmogram signal of the Spinal Cord showed low AC-to-DC ratio (below to 1 %).
