In this descriptive study, we utilized the national database that was obtained from the international APIKS, Academic Profession in the Knowledge -- Basic Society survey, where 3,776 Mexican professors participated from the different public research centers, federal public institutions, state public institutions, technological public institutions, as well as from private institutions. This research emphasizes on the analysis of the public technological institution subsystem, in the variables of gender, preference between teaching and research contract situation, salary, labor and salary, professional environment, that are part of the elements composing the instrument applied to the professors working in higher education institutions. One of the purposes is to find out more about productivity, degree of satisfaction about the conditions and academic work nationwide.

A theoretical-didactic proposal based on variational ideas and the use of GeoGebra is described as a response to a local problem on the understanding of the concept of function and quadratic equation in pre-university students. The theoretical elements of this work are based on the understanding of concepts and the theory of semiotic registers and representations, while the methodological references were based on hypothetical learning trajectories and the use of dynamic software, considered as a heuristic resource. The proposal was validated by means of expert criteria. This elaboration contributes with a proposal that breaks with the classical schemes of presentation and treatment of the content, which favors through the incorporation of variational ideas generated with the dynamic software GeoGebra the understanding of the articulated concepts of function and quadratic equation in pre-university students.

CNDOL is an a priori, approximate Fockian for molecular wave functions. In this study, we employ several modes of singly excited configuration interaction (CIS) to model molecular excitation properties by using four combinations of the one electron operator terms. Those options are compared to the experimental and theoretical data for a carefully selected set of molecules. The resulting excitons are represented by CIS wave functions that encompass all valence electrons in the system for each excited state energy. The Coulomb–exchange term associated to the calculated excitation energies is rationalized to evaluate theoretical exciton binding energies. This property is shown to be useful for discriminating the charge donation ability of molecular and supermolecular systems. Multielectronic 3D maps of exciton formal charges are showcased, demonstrating the applicability of these approximate wave functions for modeling properties of large molecules and clusters at nanoscales. This modeling proves useful in designing molecular photovoltaic devices. Our methodology holds potential applications in systematic evaluations of such systems and the development of fundamental artificial intelligence databases for predicting related properties. The objective of this paper is to analyze the preferences and time of dedication to teaching and research activities of different types of academics from Mexico who have been exposed, unequally, to public and institutional policies oriented mainly to stimulate and recognizes scientific productivity and, to a lesser extent, teaching. Based on the results of the international survey Academic Profession in the Knowledge-based Society (APIKS) answered by 4,631 academics from 127 higher education institutions (HEIs), changes are noted in terms of preference and dedication of full-time scholars to the activities they perform, compared to the previous survey, in accordance with the aspirations to receive the benefits of public policy programs that are aimed at this population. This preference for research has also permeated those hired as part-time professor, and it was even identified that 7% of this type of academic has recognition as a researcher.

We present an analysis regarding generic skills on engineering program offered in a public state university in Mexico (UABC). The university implemented a new educational model changing rigid programs to flexible programs based on competencies. The goal is to determine generic skills related to the four pillars of learning: learning to do, learning to know, learning to be, and learning to live together. This work is non experimental, cross-sectional, and descriptive. The study reflect upon the generic competences that students consider are being promoted during their first years in the university and provides a reference for the methodology to identify development of generic skills in engineering students.

Without depreciating the importance of environmental regulations directed to university environmental managements systems in this country, nowadays, the instruments of international importance like the Sustainable Development Goals or ONU's 2030 Agenda; as well as those of domestic nature, like sustainability indicators proposed by the Mexican Consortium of University Environmental Programs for Sustainable Development (Complexus) to measure the contribution of Higher Education Institutions to sustainability (HES), and those indicated by the Interinstitutional Committees for Higher Education Evaluation (CIEES) and the organisms that make up the Council for the Accreditation of Higher Education (COPAES), pose great challenges to universities as institutions that form human capital who are aware of their relationship with nature. This forces the university to rebuild its sustainability view based on the premise that all activities relative to its substantive functions are related to socio-environmental issues on the region. Due to this, Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC), coherent to its environmental management institutional plan, defined in the Institutional Development Plan, must structure a series of indicators which allow the evaluation of its sustainability policy. The purpose of this research is to develop an environmental management model bound to performance indicators that allow UABC to progressively assume the task of answering the environmental challenges posed by its surroundings, trying to strengthen its curricula, in order for its programs to be more relevant and appropriate with social, economic, cultural, and environmental priorities.

In 2015, there was the need of making this study to determine the efficient and effectiveness management for making decisions in respect to the ordinary fund allocations and their impact on the quality of the academic programs into the Polytechnic engineering universities in Mexico. This analysis is very important for providing essential evidence to improve the granting of financial resources to these institutions for the educational activities. Front to a novel educational system of higher education is essential to evaluate the quality of it to achieve its goals. The information evaluated shows important findings, in regards to the institutions for having more evaluatable academic programs than non-accessible academic programs. Being the first ones, which receive a larger fund for their operation.

We present an analysis regarding Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and their relation with indicators of academic results in bachelor's degree programs offered in state public universities in Mexico. This work is non experimental, cross-sectional, and correlational. The goal is to determine significant relations between variables: educational programs that incorporate telematics in their programs and courses of study, qualifications, withholding rates, completion rates, professional integration, along with graduates and employers satisfaction. The data is formed by 58 universities that presented their Program of Quality Strengthening in Education Institutions (PROFOCIE) projects before Ministry of Public Education (SEP) in 2015; and were processed in the statistic package SPSS, obtaining correlation coefficients. These results showed significant relation to withholding rates and student and graduates satisfaction, even though a significant relation was not found in degree indicators, completion rates, and professional integration.
