As nations and organisations worldwide intensify their efforts and investments to commercialise quantum technologies and explore practical applications across various industries, there is a burgeoning demand for skilled professionals to support this rapidly growing ecosystem. With an expanding array of stakeholders from diverse professions beginning to engage with this ecosystem, there is an urgent need for innovative educational methodologies. These methodologies must not only convey the intricate principles of quantum mechanics effectively to varied professionals, enabling them to make informed decisions but also spark interest among students to delve into and pursue careers within this cutting-edge field. In response, we introduce the Experience-Name-Speak-Apply-Repeat (ENSAR) methodology, coupled with its hands-on implementation through the Qureka Box - an innovative tool designed to demystify quantum computing for a diverse audience by emphasising a pedagogical approach rooted in experiential learning, conceptual understanding, and practical application. We present the results of deploying the ENSAR methodology using the Qureka Box across a diverse group to validate our claims. The findings suggest a significant enhancement in the participants' grasp of foundational quantum computing concepts, thereby showcasing the potential of this approach to equip individuals from diverse professional backgrounds with the knowledge and skills to bridge the workforce demand.

Neuromorphic computing is an interdisciplinary field that combines principles of computer engineering, electronics, and neuroscience, aiming to design hardware and software that can process information in a similar manner to biological brains, offering advantages in efficiency, adaptability, and cognitive capabilities. In this work, we propose a coevolutionary (or adaptive) mixed-feedback framework in which, mimicking a feedback control loop, a neuromorphic plant follows a predetermined desired rhythmic profile. This simple, yet efficient coevolutionary law adaptively minimizes the error between the responses of the reference and the plant through a node-to-node mapping. Such direct node correspondence ensures that each node in the plant is associated with a corresponding element in the reference, even in the presence of a discrepancy in the number of oscillators between the two networks. As a result, the controlled output of the plant effectively replicates the response of the reference in an orderly manner. Moreover, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our mixed-feedback control approach through several examples, including the amplitude and phase control when considering a plant and a reference with the same and different topologies on their associated networks, as well as the generation of complete synchrony by considering a single node reference. Additionally, we further test our control methodology by demonstrating its efficiency even in the presence of reference networks with a time-varying topology. Finally, we discuss future work for the development of similar coevolutionary laws that enable the control of networks which describe different dynamical systems, as well as higher-order topological dependencies.

Generative modeling for high-resolution images in Liquid Argon Time Projection Chambers (LArTPC), used in neutrino physics experiments, presents significant challenges due to the complexity and sparsity of the data. This work explores the application of quantum-enhanced generative networks to address these challenges, focusing on the scaling of models to handle larger image sizes and avoid the often encountered problem of mode collapse. To counteract mode collapse, regularization methods were introduced and proved to be successful on small-scale images, demonstrating improvements in stabilizing the training process. Although mode collapse persisted in higher-resolution settings, the introduction of these techniques significantly enhanced the model's performance in lower-dimensional cases, providing a strong foundation for further exploration. These findings highlight the potential for quantum-enhanced generative models in LArTPC data generation and offer valuable insights for the future development of scalable hybrid quantum-classical solutions in nuclear and high-energy physics., Comment: 10 pages, 8 figures

In this theoretical article, a sociotechnical approach is proposed to characterize. First, the business ecosystem, focusing on the relationships among Providers, Enterprise, and Customers through SCM, ERP, and CRM platforms to align: (1) Business Intelligence (BI), Fuzzy Logic (FL), and TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving), through the OID model, and (2) Knowledge Management (KM) and Imperfect Knowledge Management (IKM), through the OIDK model. Second, the article explores the E-GenAI business ecosystem, which integrates GenAI-based platforms for SCM, ERP, and CRM with GenAI-based platforms for BI, FL, TRIZ, KM, and IKM, to align Large Language Models (LLMs) through the E-GenAI (OID) model. Finally, to understand the dynamics of LLMs, we utilize finite automata to model the relationships between Followers and Followees. This facilitates the construction of LLMs that can identify specific characteristics of users on a social media platform.

Obtaining accurate forecasts for the evolution of epidemic outbreaks from deterministic compartmental models represents a major theoretical challenge. Recently, it has been shown that these models typically exhibit trajectories' degeneracy, as different sets of epidemiological parameters yield comparable predictions at early stages of the outbreak but disparate future epidemic scenarios. Here we use the Doi-Peliti approach and extend the classical deterministic SIS and SIR models to a quantum-like formalism to explore whether the uncertainty of epidemic forecasts is also shaped by the stochastic nature of epidemic processes. This approach allows getting a probabilistic ensemble of trajectories, revealing that epidemic uncertainty is not uniform across time, being maximal around the epidemic peak and vanishing at both early and very late stages of the outbreak. Our results therefore show that, independently of the models' complexity, the stochasticity of contagion and recover processes poses a natural constraint for the uncertainty of epidemic forecasts.

We compare the dynamical behavior of magnetic skyrmions interacting with square and triangular defect arrays just above commensuration using both an atomistic model and a particle-based model. Under an applied drive, the initial motion is a kink traveling through the pinned skyrmion lattice. For the square defect array, both models agree well and show a regime in which the soliton motion is locked along 45$^\circ$. The atomistic model also produces locking of a soliton along 30$^\circ$, while the particle-based model does not. For the triangular defect array, the atomistic model exhibits soliton motion locked to 30$^\circ$ over a wide region of external driving force values. In contrast, the particle-based model gives soliton motion locked to 45$^\circ$ over only a small range of external driving force values. The difference arises because the nondeforming particle model facilitates meandering skyrmion orbits while the deformable atomistic model enables stronger skyrmion-skyrmion interactions that reduce the meandering. Our results indicate that soliton motion through pinned skyrmion lattices on a periodic substrate is a robust effect and could open the possibility of using solitons as information carriers. Using atomistic simulations, we investigate the dynamical behavior of magnetic skyrmions in dimer and trimer molecular crystal arrangements, as well as bipartite lattices at 3/2 and 5/2 fillings, under ac driving over a square array of anisotropy defects. For low ac amplitudes, at all fillings we find reversible motion where the skyrmions return to their original positions at the end of each ac drive cycle and the diffusion is zero. We also identify two distinct irreversible regimes. The first is a translating regime in which the skyrmions form channels of flow in opposing directions and translate by one substrate lattice constant per ac drive cycle. The translating state appears in the dimer and trimer states, and produces pronounced peaks in the diffusivity in the direction perpendicular to the external drive. For larger ac amplitudes, we find chaotic irreversible motion in which the skyrmions can randomly exchange places with each other over time, producing long-time diffusive behavior both parallel and perpendicular to the ac driving direction., Comment: 16 pages, 5 figures

Using atomistic simulations, we show that new types of skyrmion states called skyrmion molecular crystals and skyrmion superlattices can be realized on triangular substrates when there are two or three skyrmions per substrate minimum. We find that as a function of the magnetic field and substrate periodicity, a remarkably wide variety of ordered phases appear similar to those found in colloidal or Wigner molecular crystals, including ferromagnetic and herringbone states. The ability of the skyrmions to annihilate, deform, and change size gives rise to a variety of superlattice states in which a mixture of different skyrmion sizes and shapes produces bipartate or more complex lattice structures. We study the fundamental properties of pointwise semi-Lipschitz functions between asymmetric spaces, which are the natural asymmetric counterpart of pointwise Lipschitz functions. We also study the influence that partial symmetries of a given space may have on the behavior of pointwise semi-Lipschitz functions defined on it. Furthermore, we are interested in characterizing the pointwise semi-Lipschitz structure of an asymmetric space in terms of real-valued pointwise semi-Lipschitz functions defined on it. By using two algebras of functions naturally associated to our spaces of pointwise real-valued semi-Lipschitz functions, we are able to provide two Banach-Stone type results in this context. In fact, these results are obtained as consequences of a general Banach-Stone type theorem of topological nature, stated for abstract functional spaces, which is quite flexible and can be applied to many spaces of continuous functions over metric and asymmetric spaces., Comment: No additional comments

The deployment of large language models (LLMs) in healthcare has demonstrated substantial potential for enhancing clinical decision-making, administrative efficiency, and patient outcomes. However, the underrepresentation of diverse groups in the development and application of these models can perpetuate biases, leading to inequitable healthcare delivery. This paper presents a comprehensive scientometric analysis of LLM research for healthcare, including data from January 1, 2021, to July 1, 2024. By analyzing metadata from PubMed and Dimensions, including author affiliations, countries, and funding sources, we assess the diversity of contributors to LLM research. Our findings highlight significant gender and geographic disparities, with a predominance of male authors and contributions primarily from high-income countries (HICs). We introduce a novel journal diversity index based on Gini diversity to measure the inclusiveness of scientific publications. Our results underscore the necessity for greater representation in order to ensure the equitable application of LLMs in healthcare. We propose actionable strategies to enhance diversity and inclusivity in artificial intelligence research, with the ultimate goal of fostering a more inclusive and equitable future in healthcare innovation.

The PROSPECT experiment is designed to perform precise searches for antineutrino disappearance at short distances (7 - 9~m) from compact nuclear reactor cores. This Letter reports results from a new neutrino oscillation analysis performed using the complete data sample from the PROSPECT-I detector operated at the High Flux Isotope Reactor in 2018. The analysis uses a multi-period selection of inverse beta decay neutrino interactions with reduced backgrounds and enhanced statistical power to set limits on electron-flavor disappearance caused by mixing with sterile neutrinos with 0.2 - 20 eV$^2$ mass splittings. Inverse beta decay positron energy spectra from six different reactor-detector distance ranges are found to be statistically consistent with one another, as would be expected in the absence of sterile neutrino oscillations. The data excludes at 95% confidence level the existence of sterile neutrinos in regions above 3~eV$^2$ previously unexplored by terrestrial experiments, including all space below 10~eV$^2$ suggested by the recently strengthened Gallium Anomaly. The best-fit point of the Neutrino-4 reactor experiment's claimed observation of short-baseline oscillation is ruled out at more than five standard deviations., Comment: 6 pages, 4 figures

The knowledge of scintillation quenching of $\alpha$-particles plays a paramount role in understanding $\alpha$-induced backgrounds and improving the sensitivity of liquid argon-based direct detection of dark matter experiments. The PROSPECT-I detector has several features that enable measurement of the direction of a compact neutrino source. In this paper, a detailed report on the directional measurements made on electron antineutrinos emitted from the High Flux Isotope Reactor is presented. With an estimated true neutrino (reactor to detector) direction of $\phi = 40.8\unicode{xB0} \pm 0.7\unicode{xB0}$ and $\theta = 98.6\unicode{xB0} \pm 0.4\unicode{xB0}$, the PROSPECT-I detector is able to reconstruct an average neutrino direction of $\phi = 39.4\unicode{xB0} \pm 2.9\unicode{xB0}$ and $\theta = 97.6\unicode{xB0} \pm 1.6\unicode{xB0}$. This measurement is made with approximately 48000 Inverse Beta Decay signal events and is the most precise directional reconstruction of reactor antineutrinos to date.

We propose a modified version of the quantum walk-based search algorithm created by Shenvi, Kempe and Whaley, also known as the SKW algorithm. In our version of the algorithm, we modified the evolution operator of the system so that it is composed by the product of the shift operator associated to the $2^n$-complete graph with self-loops and a perturbed coin operator based on the Hadamard operator that works as an oracle for the search. The modified evolution operator leads the opposite behavior as in the original algorithm, that is, the probability to measure the target state is reduced. We call this new behavior the $\textit{search complement}$. Taking a multigraph and matrix approach, we were able to explain that the new algorithm decreases the probability of the target state given that there are less paths that lead towards the node that is associated to the target state in a Unitary Coined Discrete-Time Quantum Walk. The search complement algorithm was executed experimentally on IBM quantum processor $\textit{ibmq_manila}$ obtaining statistical distances $\ell_1\leq 0.0895$ when decreasing the probability of one state out of four.

We introduce VOODOO XP: a 3D-aware one-shot head reenactment method that can generate highly expressive facial expressions from any input driver video and a single 2D portrait. Our solution is real-time, view-consistent, and can be instantly used without calibration or fine-tuning. We demonstrate our solution on a monocular video setting and an end-to-end VR telepresence system for two-way communication. Compared to 2D head reenactment methods, 3D-aware approaches aim to preserve the identity of the subject and ensure view-consistent facial geometry for novel camera poses, which makes them suitable for immersive applications. While various facial disentanglement techniques have been introduced, cutting-edge 3D-aware neural reenactment techniques still lack expressiveness and fail to reproduce complex and fine-scale facial expressions. We present a novel cross-reenactment architecture that directly transfers the driver's facial expressions to transformer blocks of the input source's 3D lifting module. We show that highly effective disentanglement is possible using an innovative multi-stage self-supervision approach, which is based on a coarse-to-fine strategy, combined with an explicit face neutralization and 3D lifted frontalization during its initial training stage. We further integrate our novel head reenactment solution into an accessible high-fidelity VR telepresence system, where any person can instantly build a personalized neural head avatar from any photo and bring it to life using the headset. We demonstrate state-of-the-art performance in terms of expressiveness and likeness preservation on a large set of diverse subjects and capture conditions.

We study a prototypical non-polynomial decision-making model for which agents in a population potentially alternate between two consumption strategies, one related to the exploitation of an unlimited but considerably expensive resource and the other a comparably cheaper but restricted and slowly renewable source. In particular, we study a model following a Boltzmann-like exploration policy, enhancing the accuracy at which the exchange rates are captured with respect to classical polynomial approaches by considering sigmoidal functions to represent the cost-profit relation in both exploit strategies. Additionally, given the intrinsic timescale separation between the decision-making process and recovery rates of the renewable resource, we use geometric singular perturbation theory to analyze the model. We further use numerical analysis to determine parameter ranges for which the model undergoes bifurcations. These bifurcations, being related to critical states of the system, are relevant to the fast transitions between strategies. In this work we provide a generalization of the celebrated Myers-Nakai Theorem for Riemannian manifolds to the framework of non-reversible Finsler manifolds, based on the ideas used in a previous generalization for reversible Finsler manifolds proved in \cite{GJR-13}. In the reversible (i.e. metric) case, the function space used to characterize Finsler isometries is the normed algebra $C^1_b(M)$, of bounded and $C^1$-smooth real valued functions with bounded derivative on a Finsler manifold $M$, endowed with its natural norm. This function space had to be adapted in order for it to reflect the quasi-metric structure of non-reversible Finsler manifolds, resulting in a partial loss of the normed space structure. In order to achieve the desired result, we define new algebraic/quasi-metric structures to model the behavior of the aforementioned function space. We consider a control-constrained optimal control problem subject to time-harmonic Maxwell's equations; the control variable belongs to a finite-dimensional set and enters the state equation as a coefficient. We derive existence of optimal solutions, and analyze first- and second-order optimality conditions. We devise an approximation scheme based on the lowest order N\'ed\'elec finite elements to approximate optimal solutions. We analyze convergence properties of the proposed scheme and prove a priori error estimates. We also design an a posteriori error estimator that can be decomposed as the sum two contributions related to the discretization of the state and adjoint equations, and prove that the devised error estimator is reliable and locally efficient. We perform numerical tests in order to assess the performance of the devised discretization strategy and the a posteriori error estimator.

We use atomistic simulations to examine the sliding dynamics of a skyrmion in a two-dimensional system containing a periodic one-dimensional stripe pattern of variations between low and high values of the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. The skyrmion changes in size as it crosses the interface between two anisotropy regions. Upon applying combined dc and ac driving in either parallel or perpendicular directions, we observe a wide variety of Shapiro steps, Shapiro spikes, and phase-locking phenomena. The phase-locked orbits have two-dimensional dynamics due to the gyrotropic or Magnus dynamics of the skyrmions, and are distinct from the phase-locked orbits found for strictly overdamped systems. Along a given Shapiro step when the ac drive is perpendicular to the dc drive, the velocity parallel to the ac drive is locked while the velocity in the perpendicular direction increases with increasing drive to form Shapiro spikes. At the transition between adjacent Shapiro steps, the parallel velocity jumps up to the next step value, and the perpendicular velocity drops. The skyrmion Hall angle shows a series of spikes as a function of increasing dc drive, where the jumps correspond to the transition between different phase-locked steps. At high drives, the Shapiro steps and Shapiro spikes are lost. When both the ac and dc drives are parallel to the stripe periodicity direction, Shapiro steps appear, while if the dc drive is parallel to the stripe periodicity direction and the ac drive is perpendicular to the stripe periodicity, there are only two locked phases, and the skyrmion motion consists of a combination of sliding along the interfaces between the two anisotropy values and jumping across the interfaces., Comment: 12 pages, 10 figures

In the big data era, integrating diverse data modalities poses significant challenges, particularly in complex fields like healthcare. This paper introduces a new process model for multimodal Data Fusion for Data Mining, integrating embeddings and the Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining with the existing Data Fusion Information Group model. Our model aims to decrease computational costs, complexity, and bias while improving efficiency and reliability. We also propose "disentangled dense fusion", a novel embedding fusion method designed to optimize mutual information and facilitate dense inter-modality feature interaction, thereby minimizing redundant information. We demonstrate the model's efficacy through three use cases: predicting diabetic retinopathy using retinal images and patient metadata, domestic violence prediction employing satellite imagery, internet, and census data, and identifying clinical and demographic features from radiography images and clinical notes. The model achieved a Macro F1 score of 0.92 in diabetic retinopathy prediction, an R-squared of 0.854 and sMAPE of 24.868 in domestic violence prediction, and a macro AUC of 0.92 and 0.99 for disease prediction and sex classification, respectively, in radiological analysis. The submillimeter and millimeter ((sub-)mm) sky contains a vast wealth of information that is both complementary and inaccessible to other wavelengths. Over half the light we receive is observable at (sub-)mm wavelengths, yet we have mapped only a small portion of the sky at sufficient spatial resolution and sensitivity to detect and resolve distant galaxies or star forming cores within their their large-scale environment. For decades the astronomical community has highlighted the need for a large, high-throughput (sub-)mm ($\lambda\sim0.35-10$ mm) single dish; The Atacama Large Aperture Submillimeter Telescope (AtLAST), with its 50-m aperture and $2^\circ$ maximal field of view, aims to be such a facility. We present here the full design concept for AtLAST, developed through an EU-funded project. Our design approach begins with a long lineage of (sub-)mm telescopes, relies on calculations and simulations to realize the optics, and uses finite element analysis to optimize the mechanical structure and subsystems. The demanding design requirements for AtLAST, set by transformative science goals, combine novel concepts with lessons learned from past experience. The result is an innovative rocking chair design with six instrument bays, two of which are mounted on Nasmyth platforms. AtLAST will be capable of $3^\circ\,\rm s^{-1}$ scanning and $1^\circ\,\rm s^{-2}$ acceleration, and aims to feature a surface accuracy of $\leq 20~\mu$m half wavefront error under static deformations, allowing observations up to $\approx 950$~GHz. Crucially, AtLAST will be a sustainable, visionary facility that will allow upgrades for decades to come.
