Noble metal like Pt or Au deposited on reducible oxides like TiO2 is one of the promising catalysts for CO oxidation, which has many applications including developing long-life sealed-off CO2 lasers, pollution control, etc. Catalytic oxidation of CO is pre-requisite for sealed-off CO2 lasers, because dissociation of lasing CO2 molecules in gas discharge decreases the laser power and may kill laser action in few minutes. Hence, this study was aimed to investigate the CO oxidation efficiency of in-house prepared Pt–TiO2 and Au–TiO2 catalysts, both at room temperature and under discharge conditions. The results of XPS and CO2 conversion measurements revealed that the post-reduction of catalyst plays a very important role for increasing the Pt0 and efficiency of CO oxidation to about 80%. Importantly, in the presence of gas discharge, considerably higher catalytic performance was observed for Pt–TiO2 catalyst with respect to their performance at room temperature and commercial gold (Au)-coated catalyst present in CO2 laser tubes. In patients with ischemic stroke, motor and sensory impairments are common and are associated with functional disability. Conventional physiotherapy (CP) is the primary modality of rehabilitation for post-stroke sensorimotor dysfunction. Ayurveda is a commonly practiced alternative system of medicine that offers unique rehabilitative measures for post-stroke recovery. We hypothesize that Ayurvedic rehabilitative treatment (ART) is superior to similar duration CP in improving the sensorimotor recovery of patients with ischemic stroke at 90 days after enrollment. AyuRvedic TrEatment in the Rehabilitation of Ischemic STrOke Patients in India: A Randomized controllEd trial (RESTORE) is an investigator-initiated, multicenter, prospective, randomized, controlled, parallel-arm, blinded outcome assessment trial being conducted under the Indian Stroke Clinical Trial (INSTRuCT) Network across the four comprehensive stroke centers in India. Consecutive hemodynamically stable adult patients with their first acute ischemic stroke between 1 and 3 months from stroke onset are being randomized (1:1) into two treatment groups to receive either 1 month of ART or 1 month of CP. The primary outcome measure is the Fugl Meyer Assessment-upper extremity for physical performance at 90 days. The secondary outcomes are the modified Rankin Scale, Barthel Index, Berg Balance, and SF-36 at 90 days. The safety outcomes include a composite of irreversible morbidity and mortality. A sample size of 140 (70 in each group) patients with ischemic stroke will allow us to detect a minimal clinical important difference of 9.4 (standard deviation) with superiority margin of 5, an attrition rate of 10%, alpha of 5%, and power of 80%. The new Phenytoin derivatives have been synthesized, characterized, and compared for CNS activity. The synthesis was carried out in three steps. Firstly, the chloroacetylation of the 5,5-diphenyl hydantoin is carried out and then various substituted phenols are added into it and have been evaluated for anti-anxiety activity, muscle relaxant activity and anticonvulsant activity by using different models. The number of parameters have been optimized which reveal that the compound containing chloro group such as C3 and C6 show imperative potential when compared with the standard drug Diazepam. Aim: The objective of this study was to determine the influence of various factors (sex, class, and arch of tooth) on postoperative pain (PP) after use of Rotary ProTaper Gold (PTG) and Reciprocating WaveOne Gold (WOG) file system following single-visit endodontic treatment. Materials and Methods: One hundred and twenty patients requiring endodontic therapy were assessed for the study. Permanent posterior teeth with acute irreversible pulpitis and vital pulp were selected. Patients were blindly grouped and analyzed based on the files employed for single-visit endodontic treatment: "Group 1" (n = 60) was treated using PTG and "Group 2" (n = 60) in which WOG was used during biomechanical preparation. Patients selected were instructed to record the before and after treatment pain incidence using a Modified Verbal Descriptive Scale at 12, 24, and 48 h. Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests were used for the data analysis (P ≤ 0.05). Results: Postobturation pain (PP) after single-visit root canal treatment using PTG and WOG showed a higher proclivity for females with a greater predilection for maxillary posteriors mainly premolars. Comparing PTG with WOG, the latter showed significantly less PP after 12 h (P = 0.559), 24 h (P = 0.559), and 48 h (P = 0.556), although the difference between the two was insignificant (P > 0.05). Conclusion: Postobturation pain incidence was higher when canals were instrumented with PTG than WOG file system following single-visit endodontics. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
